**Testing a 5700G Mini PC: Performance and Cooling**
The 5700G is an interesting mini PC that has generated a lot of interest among enthusiasts, despite its limited GPU capabilities. In this test, we'll explore how it performs with various games and applications.
**GTA V at 1080p with High Normal Mix**
One of the first tests we ran was GTA V at 1080p with a high normal mix. To our surprise, the results were impressive. We averaged around 91 FPS, which is a respectable number for this level of hardware. While it's not as powerful as a dedicated GPU like the GTX 1650, we still managed to achieve playable performance. With some tweaks to settings, we could have pushed those numbers even higher.
**Doom Eternal at 1080p Medium Settings**
Next up was Doom Eternal at 1080p medium settings without resolution scaling. Unfortunately, this test didn't yield as good of results, with an average of only 64 FPS. However, turning on VSync helped mitigate the issue, and we were able to enjoy a pretty smooth experience.
**Marvel vs Capcom Infinite at 1080p High Settings**
We also tested Marvel vs Capcom Infinite at 1080p high settings, which was a pleasant surprise. Despite our initial concerns about performance, this game ran smoothly with no significant drops in frame rate.
**Call of Duty Warzone at 1080p 100 Resolution Scale**
Another test we ran was Call of Duty Warzone at 1080p with resolution scaling and most settings set to low. While this wasn't the most promising result, we were still able to achieve a playable experience with the current hardware.
**Cyberpunk 2077 at Low Settings 900p**
Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the more challenging tests for the 5700G. With low settings and resolution scaling, we only managed to scrape together an average of 43 FPS.
**Emulation Tests**
We also wanted to test some emulation capabilities with this mini PC. First up was PS2's Ratchet & Clank using PC SX2 at 1440p with DirectX 11 rendering. The results were impressive, and the game ran smoothly without any significant issues.
Next, we tried running PS3 games using the RPCS3 emulator. While some tests did struggle to run smoothly, we were still able to achieve playable performance with some compromises.
**Cooling System**
One of the most interesting features of this mini PC is its cooling system. The bottom half of the case is made of aluminum, which helps to dissipate heat more efficiently than traditional designs. The four heat pipes and large base plate also contribute to improved cooling performance. With some tweaks to thermal paste, we may be able to squeeze even better temperatures out of it.
**Power Consumption**
Finally, let's take a look at the power consumption of this mini PC. At idle, we measured around 26 watts, which is relatively low for a system with this level of hardware. However, when maxing out all four cores and the integrated GPU, we saw a significant spike in power consumption to around 193 watts from the wall.
**Conclusion**
Overall, our tests suggest that while the 5700G mini PC may not be the most powerful system on the market, it's still capable of delivering playable performance with some compromises. With the right settings and tweaks, it could be a great option for those looking to get into gaming without breaking the bank. As always, we'll continue to monitor its performance and provide updates as needed.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's going on everybody it's eta prime back here again today we're gonna be taking a look at a pretty odd little mini gaming pc that i recently picked up now you can get these on ebay i think aliexpress and banggood this one here cost me 439 plus a little bit of shipping to get it over here from china but i was really interested to get my hands on this because i've actually been seeing them pop up quite a lot and initially i thought this was just kind of a re-cased version of the hades canyon nut but it does look like this is a totally custom pcb made for these mini pcs so what i have here over on the right hand side is the original hades canyon nuk i personally love this little gaming pc super tiny but it does get quite hot we'll go ahead and pull the top off the chinese version which you know does have pretty much the same specs but as you can see this is a totally different pcb inside of here like i mentioned going into this i figured they just took some leftover pcbs from the hades canyon nook and threw it inside of a different case or a different shell but as you can see here it is much different so i opted for the i7 version you can also go with the i5 version so we've got that 8709 g and we have built-in rx mgh graphics with 4 gigabytes of hbm2 memory built in if you remember amd and intel did kind of an odd collaboration with the chip in the hades canyon and i kind of wish that collaboration would have went on but overall we should get some pretty decent performance given its form factor and since i picked up the bare bones version this didn't come with any ram or storage so i'm going to be adding 16 gigabytes of ddr4 running at 3200 megahertz i'm also going to be adding a one terabyte kingston m.2 ssd and there are two m.2 slots in here so we can add two m.2 ssds plus they send you hardware and cabling so you can also add a 2.5 inch drive which was something that was missing from the hades canyon if you ask me and something i thought was kind of funny was their logo up top here i mean it's definitely trying to copy intel but they had to add some headphones and some lightning bolts here to kind of get around it it doesn't look great if you ask me this can always be disabled by unplugging that little led that's on the top but i'm going to go ahead and leave it on i thought it was kind of funny when it comes to i o on these mini pcs this definitely has a lot of it up front here we have a usb type c port audio in audio out 4 usb 3.0 ports and a full size sd card reader moving around back we've got our power input 4 usb 2.0 ports two full-size hdmi ports two micro display ports and dual gigabit ethernet i was hoping that one of these was 2.5 but they're both gigabit this unit did come with 180 watt power supply we've also got some cabling and hardware so we can mount another 2.5 inch drive in here and an hdmi cable that's about it that was in the box as for the specs like i mentioned they do also offer an i5 version but it has a less powerful gpu built in this one's the i7 8709g we have four cores and eight threats with a base clock of 3.1 and a turbo up to 4.1 built-in radeon rx vega mgh graphics with 24 compute units and 4 gigabytes of hbm2 ram built in and like you saw i did add 16 gigabytes of ddr4 and a 1tb m.2 drive so i kind of want to jump into a little bit of testing first up and then i'll connect this to my game capture and take a closer look at everything the first thing i installed here was forza horizon 5 i was really interested to see how this game performed on this mini pc and to my surprise it actually does a pretty decent job 1080p high settings with the resolution scale set to quality we actually got an average of 68 fps out of this i would probably want to drop some of these down to medium to get a bit more out of it but with it set up like this if you have a 60 hertz display you can turn vsync on and run it at 60 all day with these high settings okay so here we are i've got windows 10 pro installed i've installed a lot of applications and games that we're going to be testing out in this video as you can see we have that i7 8709 g 16 gigabytes of ram and unfortunately i can only get this to run at 29.33 and the built-in rx vega mgh graphics first thing i took a look at when i booted this up was just to make sure that we are using hbm2 ram since these are a lot less expensive i figured that this would be something like ddr4 sitting here i'm not sure how they could have pulled that off but gpu-z did detect hbm2 vram for the gpu side of things and i've already tested a couple games if this was like ddr4 we'd have much lower performance so yeah we're good to go on that side of things so far it's actually been really snappy and the very first thing i always like to look at are benchmarks with this unit i've noticed that this does stay a lot cooler and quieter than the original hades canyon by the end of this video i will pull this out and we'll take a quick look at the cooler they're using here but it seems to be much better than the one in the intel hades canyon knock so when it comes to geekbench 5 nothing much to write home about here we've got a single core of 1016 multi 3778 3d mark night raid got a total score of 23 468 fire strike 8533 and time spy 3040 so when it comes to built-in radeon graphics this is much more powerful than let's say the vega 7 vega 8 that's in even the 5700 g but it's not as powerful as something like a gtx 1650 but i still think we can get some pretty good gaming out of the way so first on the list we have gta 5 1080p with a high normal mix it's actually looking really good here by the end of this run i got an average of 91 fps so i probably could have taken some of those up to very high but overall it's definitely playable like it's sitting right now the next one i wanted to test here was doom eternal 1080p medium settings no resolution scale we only got an average of 64 fps out of this one so we might need to drop some of those medium settings down below here but if you turn v-sync on you should be good to go with a pretty enjoyable experience here's marvel vs capcom infinite 1080p high settings i didn't see it dipped below 60. going into this i figured we'd have pretty good performance with these fighting games at either medium to high but i did set this one up at high and it's looking really good here's call of duty warzone 1080p 100 resolution scale and most of these settings are at low now going into this i didn't think we'd get great performance with it i probably should have taken some of these up to at least medium settings i also wanted to throw cyberpunk 2077 at it when it comes to internal graphics this one really struggles right now we're at low settings 900p and i do have the population density set to medium we got an average of 43 fps out of this i wanted to test at least a little bit of emulation in this video i do plan on making a full emulation video with this little pc but first up we have ps2 ratchet and clank using pc sx2 1440p and we're using directx 11 as the back end it's running great next up we have ps3 using the rpcs3 emulator when it comes to the harder to run stuff we might need a little more cpu performance but definitely keep an eye on the channel because i will have a full emulation video coming up the way they have the cooling set up on this mini pc is actually pretty neat the bottom half of the case itself is made of aluminum and the fans and the heatsink are mounted in there the pcb then attaches to the top of that heatsink so the whole thing's kind of mounted down on top of this bottom half of the case which like i mentioned is aluminum this does cool a lot better than the original hades canyon nuk does and as you can see here we've got four heat pipes we've got this big base plate with those two fans right underneath it and overall i think this is a cool little design the bottom of the case also acts as a heatsink for the whole unit because it's totally made out of aluminum and if i was to replace this thermal paste that came from the factory with some good stuff i'm sure we could get even better thermal performance out of it and by the way all the cool air is drawn in from the bottom of the unit it's got these little feet on it so if you did set this up in the vertical position i'm sure we could drop those temps even further and with these mini pcs i always like to take a look at total system power consumption this is plugged into a kilowatt meter through all of my tests and at idle we're around 26 watts average gaming it does jump up to around 141 and the maximum that i could get this to pull from the wall while maxing out all four cores eight threads and the built-in radeon gpu was 193 watts from the wall so overall it did perform as i expected after all i have tested the hades canyon a few times we do have cooler temps and this thing is much quieter due to that cooling system they're using in it but i really thought that this was a cool little unit to see up on these websites with gpu prices and pc part availability the way they are right now this could be a great little option to get you by especially if you already have some ram and storage laying around all you need to do is pick up a bare bones unit and you can be up and playing in no time with this mini pc now i do plan on making a couple more videos because i do think this is an interesting little pc if you're interested in seeing anything at all running on this let me know what it is in the comments below and i'll definitely have a full emulation video coming up soon if you're interested in learning more about this thing or maybe picking one up i will leave a few links in the description but that's gonna wrap it up for this one and like always thanks for watchinghey what's going on everybody it's eta prime back here again today we're gonna be taking a look at a pretty odd little mini
