The Evolution of Home Security Systems
Up until a few years ago, home security systems were reserved for the rich and famous. They were expensive, clunky, and often required a team of security specialists to install them. However, as the market has become flooded with smart security systems, they have improved significantly.
One notable example is the Myox Security System, which comes with everything you need to secure your home. This includes a 7" 20p HD camera, Wi-Fi Hub, 110dbel siren, key fob, and sensor for doors and windows. The system is designed to look good with white plastic and aluminum components that pay homage to the Apple products we know and love. Moreover, it boasts build quality that is built to last.
The Myox Security System's Hub plugs directly into a power socket and connects wirelessly to your home network, eliminating the need for Ethernet cables. It is also incredibly easy to set up. To get started, simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone, and the system will guide you through the process step by step.
I had the opportunity to test the Myox Security System in my own home. I placed the rounded camera in a position that would film the entrance of my house. The camera's wide-angle lens ensures that nothing is missed, even if it's knocked out of position. Additionally, the camera features motion and light sensors, making it brilliant in the darkest of nights thanks to its onboard night vision. Although it does need to be plugged in, it has a backup battery inside in case of power outages or if someone tries to unplug it.
One of the unique features of the Myox Security System is the motorized shutter for privacy. This feature is particularly useful as it allows you to control who can see your security camera. The sensor, which they call the "intelli tag," senses vibrations and distinguishes between a door opening and a knock. Although there's only one intel tag included with the system, it works great, and additional ones are available for purchase at $50 each.
Another useful feature of the Myox Security System is the key fob. This handy device allows you to enable or disable the alarm remotely or set the assistant partial mode, which activates only certain sensors. The app itself is well-designed and easy to use once you figure out where everything is. Moreover, the timeline feature provides users with the ability to see what time people got home and what they did, which helped me find my lost car keys one night.
Overall, the Myox Security System has several pros that make it a reliable choice for homeowners. These include easy setup, motorized privacy shutter, great build quality, and an easy-to-use app. However, there are also some downsides to consider. For instance, users cannot delete their own cloud footage, and they need to subscribe to continue with continuous filming.
Despite the higher price tag of $428 (although it is available on Amazon for $478), the Myox Security System comes with great features that make it a worthwhile investment for homeowners who want reliable security for their homes. The system has proven itself to be reliable and trustworthy, unlike some other systems that have let me down in the past.
