My Thoughts On These Popular Booktube Books _ bookternet 'all star' charity challenge
**A Personal TBR: The Books I've Read and Left Behind**
I recently decided to make a video about my personal TBR, which stands for "To Be Read," and share with all of you what's on my list. As I went through the books that I have yet to read, I couldn't help but think about how many series I've actually finished and whether or not I'll continue others. It was a good time thinking about this, and it got me to talk about some of my favorite books and why I love them.
One book that comes to mind is "Crown of Midnight" by Sarah J. Maas. I gave this book five stars because I connected with the story and loved the way it progressed. In fact, I felt like I was nuts for loving it so much. However, "Red Air Fire" which is a spin-off series of "Throne of Glass," didn't quite live up to my expectations and received only three stars from me. I liked it, but it didn't have the same magic as "Crown of Midnight." Unfortunately, this book was just one of many that I didn't finish.
I've also read "A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas, which wasn't a favorite of mine. I enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away. The writing style felt controlling to me, like I had to love certain characters or ship them with another character if I wanted to continue reading the series. This made me uncomfortable and didn't allow me to form my own opinions about the story.
On the other hand, "An Ember in the Ashes" by Sabaa Tahir was actually enjoyed by me, despite not being a favorite read. However, I don't think I'll be continuing with the rest of the series. The description had some confusing parts that threw me off. Another book on my radar is "The Fifth Season" by N.K. Jemisin, which sounds really cool to me because it's set in a fantasy world based on Chinese culture.
I've also read "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" by Jenny Han, but unfortunately, it didn't leave a good impression on me. I liked it at first, but eventually, I just didn't feel like continuing with the series. I did watch the Netflix adaptation of this book and was content with that.
As for how many books I've actually finished, I can count on one hand. It's not a lot, which is surprising considering how much time I spend thinking about my TBR every month. However, it got me to think about why I love certain books so much and whether or not I'll continue others.
**A Tribute to Booktube**
I want to start by saying that booktube has played a huge role in helping me discover some of my favorite books. Through YouTube channels like The Shrub Story and Lyra, I've found authors who have become my favorites, such as Sarah J. Maas and Sabaa Tahir. These creators have helped me find books that resonate with me and share their own passion for reading.
**A Look at My Favorite Series**
As a reader, it's easy to get lost in the world of popular series and popular authors, but I want to take a moment to acknowledge some of my favorite series that I've actually finished. These are books that have stuck with me long after I finished them, and they're a big part of why I love reading so much.
**The Reality Check**
As I went through the list of 18 books on my TBR, it became clear that not every popular book is for everyone. Some series may resonate with one person but not another, and that's okay. It got me to think about how I like to read and what makes a book enjoyable for me.
**The Conclusion**
In conclusion, this video has been an exercise in self-discovery for me. Reading through my TBR list helped me realize what books I love and why, as well as which series I've finished and whether or not I'll continue others. It's also given me the opportunity to express my gratitude for booktube creators who have helped me find some of my favorite authors.
**A Call to Action**
If you're a fellow reader with a TBR list that's full of popular books, I encourage you to join me in this journey. Let's talk about our favorite series and why we love them so much. Who knows? We might discover new books or authors together!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys welcome to another video of you guys are probably gonna scream at me for this this is the book tournament all-star challenge which is a wonderful challenge created by Rachel Marie which has the goal of collecting money for the crisis that's going on in the world right now only for every person that does this challenge whether it's on books a gram or on booktube she will donate more money to a charity that a winner can choose up and filled $75 and in the description of this video I will also post a link to the charity page where you can donate money if you want to give this video is the original me recreated a list of book tournament all-star books basically books that were super popular on booktube and bucks to prime these are the books that we wanted to read when we started booktube because they were so popular kind of like the classic book turn net books and we're just going to talk about what we thought of them if we've even read them if we haven't if you maybe plan on them why not basically it's gonna be a video of me showing how bad of a book super I am I have a little list of books in it all stars on my phone so that's why I'm watching my phone first one is Angie Thomas the author of the head you give and Hum to come up and I have to admit that I haven't read any of her books that's because generally I don't really reach for Contemporary books but I know that these ones are just very important not just for fun but also have a very important message in them so I do actually plan on reading them one day the next one is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi so I have actually read shudder me after trying about three times to finish it I ended up finishing it and I was just nothing I don't really remember why cuz it's been a long time since I read these books but I don't plan on continuing this series and here's the thing okay definitely think about chatter means I feel like if I read the series I would be like a Warner fan because he's one of those classic enemies two lovers characters right and since I love that trope I feel like I would probably love that but I just don't any interest in like continuing what is now a six book series um some I'm sorry next one is a Leigh bardugo I don't know I feel like I don't really talk about her books very often I'm hugging my books I almost forgot what hugging feels like lemur Dogo it was one of my favorite outbursts that's why I haven't sent of newer books oh nice house is a recent favorite the six of crows duality is one of my favorite books of all time and then we have one of the og booktube fantasy series and them is the Garissa trilogy which holds a very special place in my heart I think I never talked about what my actual opinions on these books were cuz I actually did not give any of these books five stars because I remember reading them and being very annoyed with a lot of things that happen in them and I didn't think that they were like amazing fantastic books but it holds a very special place in my heart because this was the very first high fantasy story I ever read in my life and it's what made me fall in love with the genre also if I look at all the tropes that I like nowadays like high fantasy fantasy inspire for different cultures and miss the lovers the pool of the darkness stroke training sequences main character figuring out they have special powers a magic system that reminds me of after the Last Airbender this series has all of it so that's why it kind of holds a special place in my heart because the Grisha trilogy kind of symbolizes to me what I like in books the next one is the cruel prince by Holly black which is a book that completely just kind of went over my head because it was popular in the time that I was absent from booktube but it's still going around on book she was still super super popular that actually was not interested in reading it's too that's because I was just not interested in reading a book about hey until I heard that it's apparently pretty dark and it has a kind of like hate to love romance it's just really easy to get me to read a book if you just tell me that it has a rate to love romance but I also asked you guys on Twitter if you thought I would like the book and he was very 50/50 split so a lot of people did things that I would not like the book honestly I might read it just to see if I liked it or not let me know in the comments if you think that the cruel prince is a book that I would like or not the next one is the bone which by didn't you pick oh this is a book that I'm gonna be honest I've never heard about when I saw how Rachel Marie's video I was like what book so I think this is one of his book that may have been popular in a time that I was not on booktube and haven't really heard a lot about it since so obviously I didn't read it and hopefully feel the means to read it next one my dearest Vishwa I was actually surprised by the fact that I've only read four of her books oh no I've also read city of ghosts why you don't but she is also one of my all-time favorite authors because Vicious is one of my favorite books of all time and gathering a shadow there's also one of the most fun and fantastic fantasy series that I've ever read I still have to read a conjuring of life and this savage song and also pre-clean George and I talked about her books a lot and obviously I read her books but I have not read all the ones that are out there because she writes a lot of books but I'm super excited for it's called the invisible life of Eddie LaRue I have not read something a sequel to fishes eventual because I'm scared because a lot of people said it's really not as good as fish's so heart of me just wants to not read it so that's this can just remain a standalone in my mind and then I also haven't read the sequel to this seventh song gotta be honest I normally filled underneath too but that's just because I'm a terrible person and I really suck a Spanish in series next up we have the lunar Chronicles which I have such fond memories of I read these books before i joined booktube and i think i also found out about them through a friend not even book she I remember that's right after I started Butchie winter was about to be released so this one was already on my list when I started booktube and I really enjoyed the series got a mention never actually finished it but we're just gonna brush past that the next one is Adam silvera of whom I have not read a single book again because I tend to just not really gravitate towards contemporary especially his books from what I've heard about them they're all tragic contemporary stories and I'm just not interested in it then we have Cassandra Clare I don't even know how many books she's written like definitely over 20 I think I've read City of Bones I enjoyed it when I read it I never continued the series I'm gonna be honest I have no interest in it because series is so long and as I've just made very clear with the rest of the books that I talked about I'm already bad at finishing series that I really like so just adding a super-long new series to that list just because it's popular on booktube not gonna do that in the next one on our list is the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo which has been older age and I do actually plan on reading and I haven't read it yet but I really enjoy Daisy Jones in the six so I have the seven Habits of epithet debate I have the seven husbands of Edna Hugo on my audio book app and you plan on reading that one I think I'm really gonna enjoy it then we have Lady Taylor of whom eyes also not read thing I just saw the new covers for daughter smoking both series and I'm not gonna lie to you that's convinced me to maybe buy them when they come out and I really want to read strange stir dreamer because that just sounds like a book that I would really like because it sounds very whimsical ethereal fairy - let's kinda see which is my thing so I do actually genuinely plan on reading that series at one point then we have the illuminate files which is a very very popular science fiction why a story I'm gonna be completely honest with you and no interest in reading it there's something about the format of it it's not just a book it's like full of files and computer stuff and you have to kind of get through the story by reading all those files I have no interested in that okay we have site by Neal Shusterman this one sounds intriguing to me I like the idea that everyone just lives eternally so people have to choose who dies I like that idea so I might to read it but it's not high on my priority list again I don't want to start another series then we have Sarah J Maas she's not me author for me I feel like I talk a lot about how I didn't like throne of glass and I'm not really surging bossman but I don't think I've ever given you like a full explanation on my opinion on Sarah your mouth so let me just tell you so throwing less I talked about a lot but I gave that book one star I didn't play it I'm sorry it just didn't do what I expected it to do but then crown of midnight and I feel like I connect I don't know if I ever mentioned this on my channel but I gave crown of midnight five stars I loved that book now red air fire which was just a three star who went to three star read for me I liked it but I up my own mind who I like and who I don't an ember in the ashes which I actually read enjoyed but not too much and I don't think I'm going to continue to see resolving very brief about that then we have Sean on McGwire who is the author of the way were children series which I you know you always have a bunch of books that are on your radar but like very low on your reader that's what I have with
