The Ultimate Victory: Bringing a Red MR2 to Life

It's been a long and arduous journey, but the moment of truth has finally arrived. The Red MR2, once a mere shell of its former self, now roars back to life with a newfound vitality. The team behind this project has faced numerous challenges, from leaky hoses to faulty sensors, but their determination and expertise have ultimately paid off.

As the story goes, the journey began with an original plan to utilize a 35-inch exhaust system on the engine. However, this was not meant to be. Instead, the team opted for a more traditional approach, leveraging the existing 22CC injectors and 4-bar map sensor already installed in the Red MR2. This decision proved to be a stroke of genius, as it allowed them to tap into the pre-existing tune and fine-tune the engine's performance.

The moment of truth arrived when the team plugged in the necessary wires and turned on the ignition switch. guys just saw the video on how that came out and I know it came out amazing while he's doing that I'm filming this before him because I have a whole bunch of stuff to get done on it today and my plan is once he's done with the turbo manifold we'll be able to get the turbo manifold on to the Ravis II will get the Garrett turbo bolted up to the manifold get all the lines ran and everything get the harness ran and everything necessary to make it start and I just really want to hear the engine run so yeah got a whole bunch to do but I think we can get it done by the end of tonight so I just got the intake manifold bolted all the way down when we first put this on to mock it up we did not have an intake manifold gasket but I just went and picked up a brand new gasket so we got the intake gasket on there and we also put some new hardware on there as you can see we have these nice allen head bolts right here with these nice little sleeves that go around them these were provided by Frank from Down star so a huge shout out to down start with a little dress-up kit on the intake manifold there now this little coolant guy bolted down this is a piece from Kay tune and then another part from Kay tune I just got on is this K tuned 90 millimeter throttle body attached to our skunk to center feed intake manifold so once again we are going with a whole bunch of k tune parts and they've been helping out with the build a whole bunch so if you guys are not already following K tune or don't know about them be sure to go check them out they make awesome products for all the K series stuff and even other stuff you guys can just go check them out we've been using their stuff on almost everything now so huge shout out to k tuned for that and then another box from K Tunes that I'm getting ready to open right now and install is we have a fuel rail right in here so if you guys remember when we did the fuel rail giveaway they made us a custom fuel rail that had the booster boys logo kind of edged onto it and they actually sent us another one sorry that's kind of hard to do with one hand a little k tune sticker but there it is guys we have another k tune fuel rail with the boosted boys logo on it this is awesome when he messaged me asking if I needed another fuel rail I said yeah I did not expect them to send another custom one with the booster boys logo on there that is awesome so thank you Sean he is over there with K Tunes so I'm gonna go ahead and get this fuel rail thrown on and to go along with our new k tune fuel rail I have a set of 20200 CC Bosch injectors the same one that we run on basically all our builds for right now the router C is just going to have one set of injectors with this intake manifold we have the option to put another set of four underneath with an extra fuel rail if we need to turn her up but we have made over a thousand horsepower on just a single set of these so for right now a single set will be plenty for the reality as we just try to dial this thing in and get the motor broken in and just kind of feel the setup out so I'm gonna go ahead and get this fuel rail out of the box look for some hardware actually probably came with hardware knowing k tune they always provide the hardware so we got the bolt support right there we have our injectors and I'm gonna go ahead and get all this bolted on to our new intake manifold all right I got the fuel rail on along with the new injectors and it is looking awesome and I also went ahead and rigged up a fuel system for this thing so I'm going to be reusing this regulator later on but I am NOT going to be reusing any of this stuff but for right now I am going to reuse the factory feed and factory return that we were using with the eight series and then that comes off out of the regulator into our rail just wanted to do that for a test start but once I can confirm the engine is running and everything sounds good I'm gonna be ripping all that stuff back out and I'm going to be doing all new lines all the way back to the tank and I'll be showing you guys what we got going on for that in another video but I got that out of the way and right now I'm going to be putting the wiring harness on so this is the k tuned tucked wiring harness and this is the same one we have on WAGO this thing's awesome definitely will clean up the look a whole bunch and I'm gonna go ahead and get this thing out of the bag and start plugging in as many sensors as I can I'm still missing some of the coils on top but I would like to at least get this thing ran and just kind of see where everything is going to be placed that's gonna you get like the TPS and map sensor on and a whole bunch of other little things but I do have a lot of the sensors already on the engine so I'm gonna go ahead and start plugging this guy in so I got the wiring harness on and I got everything plugged in that I could put right now and right now I'm working on getting the injector plugs changed out because the Kaituna harness I believe came with injector dynamic plugs or some other injector but that would be my guess and we are running the boss 2200 s and it is a different plug and also a different pin so I already went ahead and D pinned all of these guys cut the pins off that aren't going to work and then this gray plug right here is the one I need and I have the correct pins right here flashlights dying and yeah so I'm gonna go ahead and strip the ends of these wires down put the right pin on there get this great clip on each one and then we'll have our injector plugs ready to go hi boys projectors are done you got back in time just to help me with something what do we got what do you see on the cow we have to have a clean first start up yeah clean no it needs to be clean you know fluids on the ground remember the word do it we're not even putting cooling in it so as long as all our oil ports are good I got the test pass when I did the oil change on Jen's you know tell me whoa oh yeah no we got a we got to burn that into your brain that the oil filter needs to go on before we start them up make sure you have pressure that's the only way just leave the filter out my clothes yeah your clothes you're way off you got a feel for it doctor it's like you're a little crooked bro you're crooked as chew it down get down get down what are you wait right there yeah looks like it's straight its straight yep it's going there we go perfect putting all filters on blindfolded you're gonna be a pro this soon torque spec twosome all right oil filter check all right I just got the oil pan off and I'm getting ready to drill a hole for our return line bung and yeah got the Union bit on the drill right there so I'm gonna get this all drilled out and then I gotta clean it up so we can roll it on there and then we will have our bung for the oil return you having do it all the way around all the way around one pass what I'm going believe in you baby one and done how we doing right well since Hayden was already busy with the manifold he just whipped out the bung real quick he's welding circles and circles and circles my life ready to go 1 2 1 try he'd never even stopped he's got it whipped out gotta get that filler hand strong beauties all about them angles too bad it's on the inside no one will see it grab somebody you ever have somebody ask you if it's welded that cows are stuck to the tanks they don't see the world on the outside Jamie thinks this tube of silicone is gonna be enough but we are down for the last little drops I gave him a new tube in a loss I know I I apologize is my fault oh we got more yeah it's like empty toothpaste things trying to get every little drop we can yeah I literally have a brand new on the Jamie just gave to me and I lost it sorry Jamie that's all right I just been you know I silly I just made its huge mess it could be oh that's white lithium grease but that's on wait is this what you gave me white lithium grease my transmission together with that one that I gave you well you might have put your training together with grease you know every little drop you can bro look out he rolled it up and everything Oh we're almost there you go I think that's good oh yes redder oh yeah bro this oh yeah we got plenty we're good you doubted me yes I did but you pulled through I wasn't sure if it was gonna be enough I was worried cuz we didn't have any backups but yeah just got the pan cleaned out our bung is welded on and once he finishes spreading all this and get her on the van then we can go ahead and get our return on feed to the turbo we might just be ready to crank this thing up shimmy shimmy cocoa puffs that's it it's got a pinion it's got a pan we go he's like a dog that corner he sucked right up well found Jamie is silicon thank you it was up on the lift so and the light was right there too yep well we seem to have to use eight years all worked out pain is on and ready to go this is just cheap off-the-shelf autozone oil just to break it in I'm gonna flush it out right away after go warm it up oh my gosh yeah huh no spills here we go back here with the rag way what do you mean but I was like I love you me know though I'll hit the ground so it doesn't count as this bit he'll tell ya we have the film yeah he made me put it on and did you put your pressure sensor on because that's the one you forgot that one time so I'm just gonna crank it real quick to make sure there's pressure and can crank it to see if there's any other offices I guess so we got the K Pro plugged in you have this jumper harness that we got from K tune it's like a universal K series harness so it makes it really easy like all these wires are labeled like for the tach speedo stuff like that and these two are the ECU power and then we have the K tune tough harness plugged into the computer and right now we're getting ready to crank it and we're gonna make sure we have oil pressure coming out the feed before we tie that on to the turbo because we have no pressure gauge right now just wanna double check if there's a little pressure but the starter is all hooked up it has power to it and we have the signal wire right here so when you touch this to power it cranks it but we don't have any plugs in right now either so we're not trying to start it just yet and we also have to find out how to jump the fuel pump when we do go to start it cuz right now has the 450 intake and none of that's connected to any of this right now so we might just start that with a power probe or something but right now we're you know how to crank it make sure we got some oil go for it got a on the motor and everything Jack we actually ended up putting the plugs in and stuff because we do have a wheel for a second but we just kept cranking on it and we eventually just had to build it up and we're good so I'll just put this line back on the turbo see if she fires up alright guys we got our oil feed on the returns done got the battery got her rigged in there for now Jamie still on the starter and power for the ECU and then Brent just got the fuel pump rigged up with the power probe yep so he can yeah he's gonna be back there giving it power while we try to crank this thing and see if she wants to fire it up and then this is the ECU out of the red mr2 I originally did buy this for the route I see so it's finally where it needs to be now and since the red mr2 already had 22 CC injectors and a 4 bar map sensor we put the same stuff on this so in theory it should be able to run next videothe whole baby what's up guys in today's video we're gonna try to fire up the router to see for the first time right now Hayden's working on the turbo manifold you guys just saw the video on how that came out and I know it came out amazing while he's doing that I'm filming this before him because I have a whole bunch of stuff to get done on it today and my plan is once he's done with the turbo manifold we'll be able to get the turbo manifold on to the Ravis II will get the Garrett turbo bolted up to the manifold get all the lines ran and everything get the harness ran and everything necessary to make it start and I just really want to hear the engine run so yeah got a whole bunch to do but I think we can get it done by the end of tonight so I just got the intake manifold bolted all the way down when we first put this on to mock it up we did not have an intake manifold gasket but I just went and picked up a brand new gasket so we got the intake gasket on there and we also put some new hardware on there as you can see we have these nice allen head bolts right here with these nice little sleeves that go around them these were provided by Frank from Down star so a huge shout out to down start with a little dress-up kit on the intake manifold there now this little coolant guy bolted down this is a piece from Kay tune and then another part from Kay tune I just got on is this K tuned 90 millimeter throttle body attached to our skunk to center feed intake manifold so once again we are going with a whole bunch of k tune parts and they've been helping out with the build a whole bunch so if you guys are not already following K tune or don't know about them be sure to go check them out they make awesome products for all the K series stuff and even other stuff you guys can just go check them out we've been using their stuff on almost everything now so huge shout out to k tuned for that and then another box from K Tunes that I'm getting ready to open right now and install is we have a fuel rail right in here so if you guys remember when we did the fuel rail giveaway they made us a custom fuel rail that had the booster boys logo kind of edged onto it and they actually sent us another one sorry that's kind of hard to do with one hand a little k tune sticker but there it is guys we have another k tune fuel rail with the boosted boys logo on it this is awesome when he messaged me asking if I needed another fuel rail I said yeah I did not expect them to send another custom one with the booster boys logo on there that is awesome so thank you Sean he is over there with K Tunes so I'm gonna go ahead and get this fuel rail thrown on and to go along with our new k tune fuel rail I have a set of 20200 CC Bosch injectors the same one that we run on basically all our builds for right now the router C is just going to have one set of injectors with this intake manifold we have the option to put another set of four underneath with an extra fuel rail if we need to turn her up but we have made over a thousand horsepower on just a single set of these so for right now a single set will be plenty for the reality as we just try to dial this thing in and get the motor broken in and just kind of feel the setup out so I'm gonna go ahead and get this fuel rail out of the box look for some hardware actually probably came with hardware knowing k tune they always provide the hardware so we got the bolt support right there we have our injectors and I'm gonna go ahead and get all this bolted on to our new intake manifold all right I got the fuel rail on along with the new injectors and it is looking awesome and I also went ahead and rigged up a fuel system for this thing so I'm going to be reusing this regulator later on but I am NOT going to be reusing any of this stuff but for right now I am going to reuse the factory feed and factory return that we were using with the eight series and then that comes off out of the regulator into our rail just wanted to do that for a test start but once I can confirm the engine is running and everything sounds good I'm gonna be ripping all that stuff back out and I'm going to be doing all new lines all the way back to the tank and I'll be showing you guys what we got going on for that in another video but I got that out of the way and right now I'm going to be putting the wiring harness on so this is the k tuned tucked wiring harness and this is the same one we have on WAGO this thing's awesome definitely will clean up the look a whole bunch and I'm gonna go ahead and get this thing out of the bag and start plugging in as many sensors as I can I'm still missing some of the coils on top but I would like to at least get this thing ran and just kind of see where everything is going to be placed that's gonna you get like the TPS and map sensor on and a whole bunch of other little things but I do have a lot of the sensors already on the engine so I'm gonna go ahead and start plugging this guy in so I got the wiring harness on and I got everything plugged in that I could put right now and right now I'm working on getting the injector plugs changed out because the Kaituna harness I believe came with injector dynamic plugs or some other injector but that would be my guess and we are running the boss 2200 s and it is a different plug and also a different pin so I already went ahead and D pinned all of these guys cut the pins off that aren't going to work and then this gray plug right here is the one I need and I have the correct pins right here flashlights dying and yeah so I'm gonna go ahead and strip the ends of these wires down put the right pin on there get this great clip on each one and then we'll have our injector plugs ready to go hi boys projectors are done you got back in time just to help me with something what do we got what do you see on the cow we have to have a clean first start up yeah clean no it needs to be clean you know fluids on the ground remember the word do it we're not even putting cooling in it so as long as all our oil ports are good I got the test pass when I did the oil change on Jen's you know tell me whoa oh yeah no we got a we got to burn that into your brain that the oil filter needs to go on before we start them up make sure you have pressure that's the only way just leave the filter out my clothes yeah your clothes you're way off you got a feel for it doctor it's like you're a little crooked bro you're crooked as chew it down get down get down what are you wait right there yeah looks like it's straight its straight yep it's going there we go perfect putting all filters on blindfolded you're gonna be a pro this soon torque spec twosome all right oil filter check all right I just got the oil pan off and I'm getting ready to drill a hole for our return line bung and yeah got the Union bit on the drill right there so I'm gonna get this all drilled out and then I gotta clean it up so we can roll it on there and then we will have our bung for the oil return you having do it all the way around all the way around one pass what I'm going believe in you baby one and done how we doing right well since Hayden was already busy with the manifold he just whipped out the bung real quick he's welding circles and circles and circles my life ready to go 1 2 1 try he'd never even stopped he's got it whipped out gotta get that filler hand strong beauties all about them angles too bad it's on the inside no one will see it grab somebody you ever have somebody ask you if it's welded that cows are stuck to the tanks they don't see the world on the outside Jamie thinks this tube of silicone is gonna be enough but we are down for the last little drops I gave him a new tube in a loss I know I I apologize is my fault oh we got more yeah it's like empty toothpaste things trying to get every little drop we can yeah I literally have a brand new on the Jamie just gave to me and I lost it sorry Jamie that's have any backups but yeah just got the pan cleaned out our bung is welded on and once he finishes spreading all this and get her on the van then we can go ahead and get our return on feed to the turbo we might just be ready to crank this thing up shimmy shimmy cocoa puffs that's it it's got a pinion it's got a pan we go he's like a dog that corner he sucked right up well found Jamie is silicon thank you it was up on the lift so and the light was right there too yep well we seem to have to use eight years all worked out pain is on and ready to go this is just cheap off-the-shelf autozone oil just to break it in I'm gonna flush it out right away after go warm it up oh my gosh yeah huh no spills here we go back here with the rag way what do you mean but I was like I love you me know though I'll hit the ground so it doesn't count as this bit he'll tell ya we have the film yeah he made me put it on and did you put your pressure sensor on because that's the one you forgot that one time so I'm just gonna crank it real quick to make sure there's pressure and can crank it to see if there's any other offices I guess so we got the K Pro plugged in you have this jumper harness that we got from K tune it's like a universal K series harness so it makes it really easy like all these wires are labeled like for the tach speedo stuff like that and these two are the ECU power and then we have the K tune tough harness plugged into the computer and right now we're getting ready to crank it and we're gonna make sure we have oil pressure coming out the feed before we tie that on to the turbo because we have no pressure gauge right now just wanna double check if there's a little pressure but the starter is all hooked up it has power to it and we have the signal wire right here so when you touch this to power it cranks it but we don't have any plugs in right now either so we're not trying to start it just yet and we also have to find out how to jump the fuel pump when we do go to start it cuz right now has the 450 intake and none of that's connected to any of this right now so we might just start that with a power probe or something but right now we're you know how to crank it make sure we got some oil go for it got a on the motor and everything Jack we actually ended up putting the plugs in and stuff because we do have a wheel for a second but we just kept cranking on it and we eventually just had to build it up and we're good so I'll just put this line back on the turbo see if she fires up alright guys we got our oil feed on the returns done got the battery got her rigged in there for now Jamie still on the starter and power for the ECU and then Brent just got the fuel pump rigged up with the power probe yep so he can yeah he's gonna be back there giving it power while we try to crank this thing and see if she wants to fire it up and then this is the ECU out of the red mr2 I originally did buy this for the route I see so it's finally where it needs to be now and since the red mr2 already had 22 CC injectors and a 4 bar map sensor we put the same stuff on this so in theory it should be able to run just fine because it already has this stuff for that tune in it so we're gonna see if she wants to crank yeah we don't even have a laptop for this one so we'll see if she fires up whoa fire the whole baby great she's going Riley she's alive dude she's alive just idle yeah we had to plug all the holes dude it just runs perfect the tunes already in there it's fun yeah put axles in it take it for a cruise real quick it's right there just do it fired right up
