**The Power of Build Dice: How Simone and Laura's Product Can Help You Find Inspiration**
When it comes to making something in your maker space, one of the most common challenges is deciding what to make. The question seems daunting, especially if you're working with materials that are too big or too small. That's where Simone Yeti Cederberg, a Swedish designer and engineer, comes in with her product called Build Dice. A friend of mine who has worked with Simone, I can attest to the fact that she is an important designer, inventor, and engineer, all rolled into one.
**Meet Simone Yeti Cederberg**
Simone's site, yet ye T C, is a treasure trove of amazing designs and products. Her everyday calendar is one of my favorite things, and it's a great way to start your day with a dose of creativity and inspiration. The calendar features simple but effective design principles that can help you stay organized and focused. But what really sets Simone apart is her ability to combine functionality with a sense of love and levity. Her products are not just about getting the job done, but also about having fun and exploring new ideas.
**Introducing Build Dice**
Build Dice is a set of three engraved dice that Simone designed in conjunction with Laura Compagnac, another friend and fellow maker. The dice are machined out of aluminum and feature different symbols on each one. One side shows objects, another shows materials, and the third shows properties. Roll them all together, and you'll get a very specific brief for your next build. It's like having a magic 8-ball that gives you insight into what you need to create.
**How Build Dice Works**
To use Build Dice, simply roll all three dice and see what combination of symbols comes up. The objects side shows categories of things you can make, such as furniture, art, or music. The materials side reveals the types of materials you'll need, such as metal, wood, or fabric. And the properties side gives you hints about the characteristics of your final product, like size or weight. It's a simple but effective way to spark creativity and get your imagination started.
**The Benefits of Build Dice**
What I love about Build Dice is that it's not just about the physical product itself, but also about the experience of using it. Simone and Laura have created a sense of love and acceptance around making things, and their products reflect that. The dice are designed to be used and shared with others, and they're meant to bring people together rather than create division. They understand that making things can be intimidating, especially for those who are new to it. That's why Build Dice is the perfect solution – it provides a gentle nudge in the right direction without being too prescriptive.
**Getting Your Hands on Build Dice**
If you're interested in getting your hands on Build Dice, Simone's site yet ye T C has everything you need. From the dice themselves to accessories and tutorials, there's plenty of information to help you get started. And if you're new to making things, don't worry – Simone's products are designed to be approachable and fun, even for those who are just starting out.
**Conclusion**
Build Dice is more than just a product – it's a way of thinking about creativity and making things. It's a reminder that sometimes the best ideas come from unexpected places, and that we all have the power to create something amazing with a little bit of inspiration. Simone Yeti Cederberg and Laura Compagnac are true friends and heroes of mine, and I'm so grateful for their work. If you're looking for a way to spark your creativity and get back into making things, I highly recommend checking out Build Dice.
