We're checking out the entire product line from the company but I want to focus on two models in particular - the ones right behind me. This would be the Vizio P series quantum X, and over here, surprised Vizio has an OLED. We're gonna get to that in a moment.
I want to talk about the Vizio P series quantum X. If you follow our TV reviews, you know that the P series quantum X was one of the best TVs that we reviewed in 2019 and 2020. Looks like it's even brighter literally. The P series quantum X last year was probably the brightest TV that we reviewed, which went to an amazing HDR experience and when I talked about HDR, I mean all of the HDR whatever different mode there is - Vizio supports it, which is great. Now for this particular TV, Vizio was talking about up to 3000 nits of peak brightness, and were in the 700s of zones on their largest 85-inch model, which was teased last year but never released. This year, we're getting one up to an 85-inch TV here now that's 3000 nits of peak brightness. So for HDR highlights, that's gonna add a lot of pop. But in general, the TV can get very bright so if we were to light this up with a full field white screen it would probably top out somewhere in the 800 nits zone, which means just for day-to-day use, this TV is going to look brilliant whether you're watching at it during the day with a bunch of sun flowing into your room or you're watching at night.
Another really interesting thing that we need to talk about is Vizio has a new processor and I know that talking about processors isn't super sexy but the thing is, that's what makes a TV look really great or not so great. Videos case they've always had really good processing, but what I'm seeing so far this year, they are outdoing themselves. The new processor is called the IQ Ultra, and with it comes some nice things like HDMI 2.1. But everything else that's available - variable refresh rate, low latency mode, automatically goes into game mode, which means we're talking about a fully featured TV here that's got all the bells and whistles that you would expect to see from a top-tier manufacturer. And that certainly is what Vizio is these days - a top-tier manufacturer competing with the likes of Sony, LG, and Samsung right up there.
My only main complaint about Vizio TVs in the past has been the SmartCast system. I felt like it was a little bit sludgy, a little bit laggy, and maybe not the most intuitive thing to use. We've seen some updates, and it has gotten better, but I've never really fallen in love with it. But I got to tell you, I just saw a demo of the new SmartCast 4.0, and I'm totally impressed. The lag is gone; it's very snappy; it's laid out very well; it's what you expect from a proper Smart TV system. And with Apple HomeKit integration also, Alexa support from Amazon as well as Google Assistant compatibility, there's nothing that you can't do with the TV. But again, more importantly, it's laid out really well. They also upgraded their remote control so the P series quantum X and the new OLED will come with a Bluetooth remote control that is very simple, very sleek, very elegant, and most importantly, easy to use.
Now, let's talk about OLED for just a moment. We know LG has been making OLEDs for years, Sony of course jumped into the game a couple of years ago, Vizio is now a major player in the OLED game. Now when we talk about the differences between an LG or a Sony and now a Vizio OLED, it's going to come down to the processing and that's why I'm excited to see Vizio has created a new processor that appears to do some really great stuff. Obviously, we need to get these in our lab; we need to thoroughly test them, and do some comparisons but I'm extremely encouraged by what I'm seeing here not it's not just about the HDMI 2.1 and all the features that come along with that but noise reduction and sharpness control and 3D look-up tables and all the stuff that comes together to make an image vibrant and realistic, and papi. And I'm definitely seeing that here again - I've got to get these in my lab and take a close look, but I've never been so encouraged at a demonstration trade show and quite some time so this is very exciting.
Vizio is coming into 2020 in a very big way, and I can't wait to see these things actually come to market. And of course, we will be reviewing these TVs when they do come out later this year. Pricing and availability times are not being discussed, that's typical of CES; we'll have to wait and see how everything plays out before we get a better idea of what's going on with Vizio's new lineup.
