The Silverado EV: A Revolutionary Electric Pickup Truck
The Chevrolet Silverado EV is a game-changing electric pickup truck that promises to revolutionize the way we think about towing, payload, and overall capability. With its advanced adaptive air suspension, this truck can raise and lower up to nearly 2 inches in each direction, providing unparalleled versatility for both on-road and off-road driving. Four-wheel steering offers a tighter turning radius at low speeds and improved handling and stability at higher speeds, making it an excellent choice for those who need to navigate tight spaces or tow heavy loads.
One of the standout features of the Silverado EV is its impressive towing capabilities. The first model offered can handle up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity and 1,300 pounds of payload when combined with the available accessory power bar. This makes it an excellent choice for those who need to haul heavy trailers or equipment. Additionally, the power-based charging system offers up to 10 outlets, providing a total of 10.2 kilowatts of all-electric power available for your campsite, job site, and even your home.
But that's not all - the Silverado EV also comes with an innovative accessory charge core that allows it to charge another EV on the go. This feature opens up endless possibilities for those who need to charge their vehicle on the move. And when you're towing or hauling heavy loads, the available super cruise with trailering system is designed to make your life easier and safer.
In terms of safety, the Silverado EV features a comprehensive suite of standard and available safety features that will give drivers peace of mind on the road. The front-end design is sculpted to efficiently direct air down the body side, significantly reducing drag and turbulence. This not only improves fuel efficiency but also provides a smoother ride for passengers.
But what really sets the Silverado EV apart is its attention to detail and commitment to innovation. The LTX platform allows us to imagine new storage and utility possibilities that come with an entirely new electric design. The e-trunk, a lockable weatherproof compartment in the front of the vehicle, provides enough space for a large suitcase and has a multitude of accessory options based on the unique needs of the customer.
The bed is maximized thanks to an innovative available multiflex midgate, which provides just over 9 feet of storage between the cab and the tailgate when open. The second-row split offers four configurations that create the ability to haul gear or equipment while still accommodating a passenger in the second row. An optional tonneau cover adds lockable weatherproof storage to keep cargo protected from the elements.
And let's not forget about the available multilex tailgate with six functional positions, which provides up to 10 inches of load floor and storage capability. We took advantage of the Ultium architecture to shorten the front overhang for enhanced forward-down vision and pushed the rear seats rearward giving us spacious second-row leg room.
When it comes to visibility and comfort, the Silverado EV is hard to beat. The first's fixed glass roof offers expansive visibility, increased headroom, and an enhanced experience of spaciousness for both front and rear passengers. When a customer approaches the truck with an enabled cell phone or key fob, the Silverado EV greets them with a unique exterior lighting animation.
Upon entering the vehicle, a 3D animation appears on the massive standard 17-inch diagonal free-form LCD infotainment screen, which is paired with a neighboring 11-inch diagonal driver instrument display. Together with the driver's head-up display, with a field of view of over 14 inches, drivers have access to all the information they need at their fingertips.
The work truck trim will offer substantial capability, up to 510 horsepower and 615 ft-lbs of torque, 8,000 pounds of towing capacity, and 1,200 pounds of payload. And with a range of nearly 400 miles on a full charge, fleet owners can effectively manage their EV fleets using the robust software system that comes standard.
The Silverado EV will launch in three different models: the first edition as an exclusive fully loaded model starting at $39,900 plus dealer freight; a lower-range work truck model available in Spring of 2023; and additional lower-range work truck models to follow. Each model will offer a competitive starting MSRP, with the base model priced around $30,000 for the Equinox EV SUV that launches next year.
The Silverado EV is set to revolutionize the way we think about electric pickup trucks, offering unparalleled capability, versatility, and innovation. With its advanced features, impressive towing capabilities, and robust software system, this truck is sure to be a game-changer in the world of electric vehicles.
