This is Why You Don't Visit Colombia Alone!

The Traveling Life: A Day at Parque Arby

As I stepped out of my RV park accommodation in Medellin, Colombia, I was greeted by the serene beauty of Parque Arby. The name "Parque" is pronounced as "par-kee," with a slight emphasis on the "v" sound, similar to how bees pronounce their names. This was not a park famous for its roast beef, but rather a tranquil oasis nestled 15-20 minutes outside the bustling city of Medellin.

I took advantage of the opportunity to explore this peaceful retreat using the cable cars that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The scenery is a stark contrast to the noise and chaos of Medellin's city life, with its lush greenery, chirping birds, and gentle rustling of leaves in the wind. This was my chance to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

As I wandered through Parque Arby, I stumbled upon an exhibit that left me taken aback – a severed head displayed inside a bird cage with a message scrawled on it: "Free your mind." The artist behind this gruesome yet thought-provoking display had clearly intended to convey a deeper meaning than just shock value. While some might see it as morbid, I appreciated the artistic intention and the bold statement.

The surrounding area is replete with quirky statues that add to Parque Arby's eccentric charm. One particularly striking figure caught my attention – a muscular man adorned in party attire, exuding an aura of debauchery. It was clear he had spent too many nights on the town, but his rugged good looks more than made up for it.

As I continued to explore Parque Arby, I couldn't help but notice that one of my camera's biggest drawbacks is its inability to be used in public without drawing unwanted attention. This reality forced me to adopt a "don't flex" policy when it comes to showcasing valuables like my Rolex or other prized possessions. The popular Colombian phrase "no papaya" – meaning don't flash your valuables – served as a timely reminder of the importance of discretion.

My curiosity led me up a nearby tower, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. I soon discovered a charming garden hidden away in the midst of the forest, complete with an assortment of plants and animals that were both fascinating and intimidating. As I gazed upon a massive frog perched on a leaf, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at its sheer size.

However, my admiration for these creatures was short-lived, as I soon found myself face-to-face with not one, but two tarantulas – both seemingly unaware of the danger they posed. Their presence sent me scurrying for cover, and I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. It seemed that even in Parque Arby, nature had a way of humbling its visitors.

The tarantula's camouflage abilities left me feeling embarrassed about my own lack of stealth skills. If not for the presence of another beetle and spider, I'm confident that I would have become their next meal. Thankfully, our unlikely truce allowed us to part ways amicably.

As much as I wanted to linger in Parque Arby's serene atmosphere, I eventually had to bid farewell to this enchanting oasis. The memories of my time here will undoubtedly stay with me, and I hope that future travelers will have the opportunity to experience its tranquility firsthand. For now, I'll carry a piece of Colombia's natural beauty and artistic flair with me as I embark on my next adventure.

As for where to go next, the travel bug has bitten me once again – it seems that my journey is far from over. With so many incredible destinations still waiting to be explored, I'm excited to see where life takes me next.

out in public or you're just asking for something bad to happen and that's why it's so nice to be here right now in parquearvi where it's very discreet very remote everyone here is more or less a tourist and I can just talk freely with the camera out and about in plain view without any kind of risk involved hold up that is a that is a tower that is a tower I'm going to climb up there nature beautiful cool the bird speaks Spanish here stumbled across a nice little garden here in the middle of the forest I don't know what most of these things are manzania lavanda I think that's lavender I'm pretty sure I think that's Dragon frogs does that mean there's frogs here oh my God look at how huge that frog is oh my God have you guys ever seen anything like it I think he's scared of me he's completely Frozen whoa whoa whoa whoa look at that that's like a big ass fly dragging a dead spider not a spider is that a beetle a beetle eating a tarantula oh wait the tarantula's alive holy I don't like being this close to either of these things right now guys I hate to I hate to bug you but um I gotta get through there's only one path forward and you guys are kind of in the way so if you could just like take your fight to the death two feet to the left that would be great okay it looks like they're are they are they calling it quits I think there's been a truce that's good but they're still in my way okay guys if you don't mind I'm just gonna sneak past real quick run run run run run run run run run run run run what I didn't like about that was that the the the spider was very well camouflaged if the beetle wasn't there I would have that's that spider would have eaten me I changed my mind about parquet get me the out of here all right guys my trip to Colombia has come to a
