WICKED SAINTS BY EMILY A DUNCAN [SPOILER FREE BOOK REVIEW]

**A Review of Wicked Saints by Emily Duncan**

If you're looking for a dark and sinister fantasy novel that delves into the world of blood magic, then "Wicked Saints" by Emily Duncan is the perfect book for you. I would say that this book is a great fit for fans of dark and gothic why fantasy novels, but I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner's read due to its complexity and darkness.

I did enjoy the magic system in this novel, which is unique and different from anything I've ever read before. The idea of activating a spell by dipping your hands into blood was particularly fascinating to me. The author's use of vivid descriptions made it feel like I was reading about real events, and I loved how the magical world was integrated into the story. The magic system also seemed to have its own rules and backstory, which added depth to the novel.

One aspect that I didn't fully understand was the blood magic itself. It seemed that there were certain individuals who could wield this power, but it wasn't entirely clear how they acquired it or what limitations came with it. However, this lack of clarity only added to my fascination with the subject matter.

The world-building in "Wicked Saints" is also noteworthy. The author has created a rich and immersive environment that draws the reader in from the very beginning. I particularly enjoyed learning about the different countries and their unique cultures, which added to the overall sense of depth and complexity.

Speaking of complexity, one aspect that may deter some readers is the sheer amount of information presented throughout the novel. The author seems to have woven a web of intricate details that can be overwhelming at times. However, this also made the story feel more nuanced and layered, which I appreciated.

One thing that did strike me as odd was the fact that Nadia's god-like abilities were never fully explained. It seemed like she had access to magic and divine power on a whim, without any clear understanding of how it worked or where it came from. However, this aspect also added to the novel's sense of mysticism and wonder.

Now, onto the spoilers... **Warning: If you haven't read "Wicked Saints" yet, proceed with caution as I'm about to reveal some plot points!**

So, what happened at the end of the book? Well, it turns out that Seraphin, the protagonist, kills the king. I won't say how he does it or why, but let's just say that it was a pivotal moment in the story. After killing the king, Seraphin gains access to new magical powers that had been locked away within him. These powers are tied to his own darkness and seem to have a life of their own.

The ending is also marked by a sense of loss and transformation for Nadia, who has fallen deeply in love with Seraphin. The novel concludes on a somewhat ambiguous note, as Seraphin's fate is left uncertain. Does he retain his newfound powers? Will he revert back to himself? Only time will tell.

I have to admit that I found the ending to be somewhat abrupt and hard to follow at times. However, this also added to the sense of mystery and intrigue that permeates the novel. The author has clearly put a lot of thought into creating an immersive world that draws the reader in from start to finish.

Overall, I would highly recommend "Wicked Saints" to fans of dark fantasy novels. While it may not be suitable for all readers due to its complexity and darkness, I found it to be a compelling and immersive read. The author's use of vivid descriptions and complex world-building made the story feel rich and nuanced, even if some aspects did leave me scratching my head.

**A Word from the Reader**

"I thoroughly enjoyed 'Wicked Saints', but found some aspects of the ending to be confusing at times. While I appreciated the complexity of the novel, I do wish that some plot threads had been more fully explained. Nevertheless, this did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book, and I look forward to reading the next installment in the series."

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone today I'm here to talk and review and talk about wicked Saints by Emily Duncan the kid Saints is a newly released white fantasy book that just came out this month it's a start of a brand new Y fantasy series so I'm gonna tell you all about it or even get into spoilers which I will warn you when I get into spoilers I want to check what this book is about what I thought about it and when I rated it and then I'm gonna talk briefly at the end of what I thought about the end so there will be a little bit of a spoiler section but again I will warn you first of all let me apologize in advance because this book is not only hard to explain what it's about it's one of the hardest books I've ever had to like think about and like explain to another person about character names are also very hard to pronounce there is a pronunciation guide which I will leave right here and I will link it down below I have looked at it I have tried I am trying so just know that as well I'm gonna butcher a lot of the names and no I have looked at the pronunciation guide and I have tried to study it and get it right but I'm sorry in advance that I will do the character names not justice so I apologize for that I apologize for the really horrible explanation in this book but I really want to talk about it because it is to explain the book I really enjoyed it so basically wicked Saints what it is about we have these two countries one is called call yacht Kali Asin I'm gonna say that and the other one is called Vania Tran Ivania and call oz and I'm probably pronouncing those wrong so we have these two countries they are at war they do not like each other they both have very different magic systems they both kind of hate each other for the magic systems they have so in one country in the country of Kali oz and we have a curiously Nadia hopefully I pronounced that right she is a cleric and basically what a cleric can do in her country is she can talk to the gods and usually when you're a cleric you have one God talk to you and that's kind of what it is not you can talk to every single God in the dot and the gods directly talk to her she wears this necklace with different beads to represent the different gods and she can touch one of those beads and talk to a certain God with certain abilities like strength or vision or things like that and they will directly talk to her in her head so she is very revered country people really love her but she's also kind of hidden because trauma vania the country wants to kill all the clerics that are that country because they don't like them so Nonya is one of the very few clerics left so basically what happens in a from the beginning of the book we have this each kind of take over where nadia lives and the Toronto VA people are trying to take over and come and kill her and we meet another character named Serafin and Seraphin is from Seraphin is from iran Ivania his magic is blood mage magic so they have blood magic and basically what their magic does just to let you know before I muted to what their magic is this book has a lot of triggers for blood and cutting so case you're very sensitive to those things I would not recommend reading this book because it has a lot of that and I don't think it would do you any good to read it so just know that before going into this book there is a lot of blood talked about there's a lot of cutting so just so you're aware so with the blood magic they do they basically have a spell book they have attached to their hip they find a spell they want to do they rip the page out of that book then they cut a part of their arm or I think any part of their body but mostly their arm and blood will come out and they will put that spell page in their blood to activate the spell so that is how they do it they're called blood mages and Nadia does not believe in their magic it she thinks is heresy because she thinks that talking to gods is the only right form of magic there can be so basically these two countries have very opposite things Seraphin is a Prince of Toronto vania and he is on a mission to kill Nadia and things like that we also have another character named Moloch Isha I'll play pronounce it right he is a blood mage that has kind of turned into a monster because that can happen and basically Nadia Mach Izzi and two of the month two of the other people that are from that are from called Collins and they go on a trip to go to Toronto vania to kill the king and that's what this book is about in a nutshell this book it's about two countries that hate each other further magic and they want to take each other down they're at war they've been at war for forever and there's a twist that happens in the middle that kind of maybe has them all whining for the same goal so that is what this book is all about overall I really enjoyed it I was very nervous going into it because a lot of my friends have read it and didn't really like it I really enjoyed it I gave it a 4 out of 5 I wanted to give it a 5 out of 5 but there was a few problems I had with it overall it is a very slow pace book if you're looking for straight-up action on action action it's not there there is some action scenes for sure but a lot of the times it's definitely travel journey of a book you have to travel a lot and they go to the kingdom they have to get acclimated there and things like that but there is action in it but I would say it's much more of a slower pace book I think I didn't love about it that magic wasn't explained you just knew it was there you knew that these two countries had their different forms of magics but there was really no rules with the magic of how far they could take their magic or there wasn't a really backstory of their magic or even their countries as a matter of fact like like yes we know that these countries hate each other for the magic but why what has started this so long ago and what is their backstory in their country so I wanted more of that I feel like we didn't get it so that's why I didn't love in that regard but I didn't land where the characters and thought all the characters really great we got two perspectives from Nadia and Seraphin I enjoyed both of them there's also a romance in those folk as well which I actually enjoyed it is very insta lovey but with Wyatt books I've come to expect that and some of them do better than others I did like this one I loved the darkness of it it is pitched as a gothic dark fantasy I've heard a lot of people compare this to six of crows but I would not recommend it in that regard for like comparisons wife six of prose I could see the comparison with both of those books being dark and gritty and gothic II but to compare them in the same plot wise not really at all six of crows is all about this heist that these characters have to do they team up together this poke is all about characters with gods and monsters and blood magic so very different books but if we're talking about it in the dark sense of it yes they're similar so in case you want that dark sinister six of crows vibes this is that but I would see this one a little bit darker because it deals with blood magic speaking of magic I did enjoy their magic systems yes I said that I didn't love that we didn't get real any rules or backstory with it that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it I loved reading about the blood magic I never read a book where they've had to activate a spell by dipping it into blood like there was so much blood in this book like blood was coming from their nose from their eyes and their forehead I was like oh my gosh oh but I enjoyed it like I thought that was very unique and different I never read a book like that as well as Nonya talking to gods like and the gods can directly talk to her is how she get directly powers from those gods I like that I love the magic system so overall would I recommend this book I would say if you're really into why fantasy and then like a dark gothic type of fantasy book I would recommend it if you think this is a good beginner place for why fantasy no it is complicated because of the countries the magic the pronounciation and it's a little bit more steeped in darkness so I wouldn't say this is a good beginner book for fly fantasy but I enjoyed it I will be getting off the series I don't know how many books it's planning to me whether it be a duology trilogy series I don't know I'm horrible with that I did enjoy it and it would recommend it so I liked it 4 out of 5 so overall I just want to talk about this book in a single review because it was hard to explain and I feel like it just morton its own single review for that reason but I really liked it this will be a great book to read in the fall months for sure because of just spookiness and darkness and blood no those many things so I would recommend it now going on to spoilers I do you want to talk about the ending very quickly so I will leave a little thing up here what's the spoiler section just so you know that I will be talking about spoilers and you can be forewarned so if you have read this book please do not watch any further because I don't want to spoil you so at the end do we finally kill the king I think Seraphin kills the king duh see it's been like a week since I heard this so I forget either way the king is dead Seraphin has these magical powers now that he hadn't had that he didn't have before his dad like locked him up I don't understand that I feel like the ending happened so insanely quickly that I can't get a grasp on it so the king died Seraphin has these new magical powers and maliki Sheena I'm so sorry I pronounced that wrong he is now full holder like that guy wit darkness like I think he may have killed the king did he killed the king I don't remember but now he has fully transformed into darkness like I think but he is now like oh the ultimate vulture the ultimate evil and he doesn't remember his own name so like nadia is obviously stricken because she was like in love with him which I can't grasp because I'm like you just met him very last end it said the boy was gone the monster had swallowed the heart that beaten his chest he let the darkness take him so like he has no recollection of himself at all he is fully now like a black vulture like he is gone so I don't understand what the point of that was for him like why did he do that to be the most powerful I don't know so that's why I want to talk about it to ask you because you guys always help me understand endings like I'm sure you're like really Hiller like you need to figure that out and I probably do but I would like for you to help out the ending though I will say I love that he kind of went fully dark and fully embraced it I would love to see how that's gonna continue off the series will revert back to himself or will we have to kill him I don't know we'll have to find out in the next book we'll see either way I enjoyed it I just want to talk briefly about the ending and what I thought about it and I want to hear basically what happened in the end day like how do we make sense of it I want to know that from you guys I hope that's okay but yeah that's my review of wicked Saints I've Emily Duncan I would recommend it I'm excited to read the next book in the series and yeah looking for a dark gothic why fantasy book this is it thank you guys so much for watching it I'll see you in my next video byehello everyone today I'm here to talk and review
