Instant Regret... Nissan Takes On The Warner Valley Mud Pit!

The Team Heads Out to the Warner Valley for a Big Off-Road Recovery

We're heading out to the Warner Valley today to tackle a challenging off-road recovery job. Ed, our newest team member, is joining us on this adventure, and we're also excited to have Blue Steel back in action after its recent restoration by Robbie. We've got all the right gear and a solid plan of attack, but nothing can truly prepare you for the unpredictability of the Warner Valley terrain.

As we make our way down the dusty road, Ed takes a closer look at the rig we're using today, admiring its sturdy build and reliable performance. "This is a great read," he says, "you, Bill, have everything on it, and I don't think there's anything you couldn't pull out." With that, we gear up to head back to Ed's claim and begin our search for the lost mine.

Ed expresses some trepidation about tackling this project, but with a little nudge from us, he's ready to get started. We discuss our plan of attack and decide to take a more circuitous route to avoid the highway as much as possible. Colin takes the lead in Blue Steel, navigating the dirt road that will ultimately bring us to the site of the recovery. Meanwhile, Ed is heading back with Kong behind him, both of them excited for this first job together.

As we reunite at the agreed-upon meeting point, we find our customers waiting patiently, a bit anxious about the state of their vehicle. We reassure them that we're on top of things and ready to get started. The grocery store is not in the direction they expected, but we know exactly where we need to go.

We pull up to the site, and Ed assesses the situation, taking in the extent of the damage. "This is super slick," he notes, eyeing the vehicle's tires with concern. Peanut, our trusty canine companion, takes a close look as well, his tail wagging uncertainly. We decide to take it back out to its original entry point, rather than trying to climb up the bank.

Ed expresses some hesitation about tackling this particular recovery, but we're confident in his abilities. "It's kind of solid," Peanut notes, and Ed nods thoughtfully. "I think I got a plan," he says, outlining our approach. We'll use the same path it came in on, and try to coax the vehicle out from under the wreckage.

As we begin our recovery effort, the terrain proves more challenging than anticipated. The mud is everywhere, and Colin's car starts to get stuck in the muck. We realize that we need to work together to free him. I offer some words of encouragement as he struggles to steer his vehicle, while I provide support from behind.

With a bit of careful maneuvering, Colin manages to extract himself from the mud, but not without some damage to his car's front end. It looks like it's been through quite an ordeal. We breathe a sigh of relief as we realize that our plan worked – at least, for now. As we head back to the shop, Ed expresses gratitude for the experience and promises to learn more about off-road recovery.

As for Peanut, he emerges from the mud, looking a bit bedraggled but otherwise unscathed. We wonder what his next adventure will be – perhaps a nice, dry bath?
