How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the T-Mobile G2X

How to Flash Custom Recovery Image on T-Mobile G2X: A Step-by-Step Guide

Before you begin this procedure, make sure you have completed our "How to Root the LG G2X" tutorial. This link is located below and can be accessed at any time once you've completed the rooting process. By clicking on this link, you can return to this tutorial and continue with the flashing of a custom recovery image.

The first step in this procedure is to download the required files. You will need to click on the following link to access the developers page, where you can then click under "Download" to obtain the necessary files. Once downloaded, extract the RAR file to your computer using right-click and selecting "Extract Files". If you don't have the option to do this when right-clicking, you will need to download WinRAR from Google WiN AR AR and install it before you can extract the files.

After extracting the files, you should see an APX folder and an ENV flash folder inside. You will also need to turn off your phone and remove the battery while holding down the volume up and down buttons simultaneously. This makes it easier to manage the device during the flashing process.

Once you have completed this step, plug the device back in while still holding down the two buttons. On your computer, start the Device Manager by typing "devmgmt.msc" into the search box and clicking on it. You will then see a list of devices with a PX symbol next to it. Right-click on the PX device and select "Update Driver Software". This will prompt you to browse for drivers; make sure you are looking for the One-Click G2X Recovery driver that you extracted earlier, and click on it once.

Next, select "Browns my computer" and then click on "Browse", where you can find the extracted One-Click G2X Recovery folder. Make sure to include subfolders in the checkbox before clicking "OK". You will then be prompted to install this driver software; simply wait for it to finish installing.

Unplug the phone while waiting for the driver installation to complete, and plug it back in once finished. Now that you are back online, go to the folder where you extracted the ENV Flash driver and double-click on it to open it. You will then need to right-click on the One-Click Recovery Flasher EXE file and select "Run as Administrator". This may prompt a warning; however, it should not be an issue.

Once again, unplug the device while still holding down the two buttons. Plug it back in and keep holding them until you see the screen with "SW Upgrade on Device" displayed. You can then release the two buttons and return to your computer's command prompt.

The next step is to click on the screen that appears, which will prompt you to press any key to continue. After waiting a few seconds, unplug the device from the USB cable. Place the battery back into the phone and close the back cover before proceeding.

With the phone turned off and battery replaced, hold down the volume down and power buttons simultaneously until the orange Android word appears on the screen. You can then release these buttons to boot up your phone in recovery mode. Once you are in recovery mode, you will be able to perform various tasks such as backing up data or flashing custom ROMs.

If you would like to proceed with flashing a custom ROM, click on the link located at the bottom of this tutorial for further instructions and guidance. By following these steps carefully, you should be able to successfully flash a custom recovery image on your T-Mobile G2X.
