**The New Face of iOS: A Deep Dive into iOS 10**
In this latest iteration of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS 10, we've seen a plethora of exciting features that aim to revolutionize the way we interact with our iPhones. One of the most significant changes is the new approach to unlocking your device. Gone are the days of swiping to unlock; instead, Apple has introduced a push-to-unlock feature, which requires you to press and hold on the home button to access your phone.
This change makes sense, especially for those who already use Touch ID to unlock their devices. Since you're going to place your finger on the home button anyway, why not just press and leave it there? It's a small but noticeable adjustment that sets the tone for the rest of the new features in iOS 10.
In addition to the unlocking feature, Apple has also introduced new 3D Touch shortcuts. With a simple force touch on an app icon, you can access the corresponding widget, which provides quick access to certain information without having to open the full app. This is particularly useful for apps that require specific data, such as calendar or notes. By leveraging widgets, Apple is encouraging users to explore this feature more, which has seen limited adoption in iOS 9.
Another significant change comes from the redesign of some existing Apple apps. The most notable one is Music, which now boasts a cleaner and simpler interface. Gone are the chaotic navigation menus; instead, you'll find a more intuitive layout that makes it easy to find your favorite music. While I personally don't use Apple Music often, many users have praised the new design for its improved usability.
Apple Maps has also received an upgrade, with features like Route traffic updates and reporting, which should provide a more accurate picture of traffic conditions. The app's animations have been tweaked to make it feel more responsive and engaging. While Google Maps is still my go-to navigation tool, Apple's efforts are certainly closing the gap in terms of functionality.
Google Photos has long been a favorite among iPhone users, thanks to its intelligent backup and storage features. In iOS 10, these features have been refined, making it even easier to find and organize your photos. One particularly useful feature is the ability to search for faces within your photos, which can be both creepy and convenient.
However, Apple has also introduced a new app called Home, which aims to bridge the gap between home automation and seamless device control. This centralized hub allows you to control various smart devices from one place, creating custom scenes and automating tasks with ease. Home is essentially an Apple version of Samsung's SmartThings, and while it shares similarities with existing home automation systems, its intuitive interface makes it a promising new feature.
In the realm of messaging, Apple has taken aim at competitors like Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, and Skype by introducing its own native app store. With fun animations, handwritten notes, bigger emojis, and gifts, the new Messages app is designed to be an all-encompassing platform for chatting with friends and family. The addition of a new gift feature allows users to send personalized messages that can include images or videos.
Perhaps one of the most surprising features in iOS 10 is the ability to delete Apple's apps. Yes, you read that right – we can now hold down on any app icon, tap the X button, and delete it from our iPhone. This may seem trivial at first, but think about all the unnecessary apps that take up space on your device. With this new feature, users can finally declutter their home screen with ease.
**Conclusion**
iOS 10 is a refreshingly exciting update to Apple's mobile operating system. From the push-to-unlock feature to the new Messages app and the ability to delete Apple's apps, each change contributes to an overall sense of refinement and user-friendliness. While some may find certain features redundant or unnecessary, it's clear that Apple has been paying close attention to its users' needs and desires. Whether you're a seasoned iPhone user or just starting out, iOS 10 is definitely worth checking out.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enApple recently announced iOS 10 and also with that they released the beta version to their developers now there is a slight loophole that allows you to download iOS 10 beta right now if you're not a developer even uh for that video you can click the link below but thanks to that I've had a chance to play with iOS 10 for a little bit and I figured I would do a quick video showing you guys the coolest new features that iOS 10 has to offer okay first up we have a very small feature but it's kind of fun uh it's actually something I've kind of been waiting for Apple to put into iOS for a while now and that's when you lift up your phone from a table for example it automatically wakes it up really small I know but it makes a difference while iOS 99's notifications only really had two options either dismiss them or tap them and that opened the corresponding app IOS 10 on the other hand now allows you to respond directly to messages through these notifications and also tap and hold on the notifications to get more info about the app making them just more useful in general your iOS widgets have also been redesigned instead of them being in the notification center at the very top of the phone they've now been moved to where Spotlight is which actually makes a lot of sense uh because the other stuff that was in there wasn't actually that useful your favorite contacts and stuff like that this on the other hand is a a little bit more useful and the widgets themselves also look a lot cleaner they look a lot nicer they have like a frosted glass look to them and there's actually a little more functional on the lock screen now you can swipe left to get to your camera swipe up from the bottom to get your Control Center and swipe right to get to those widgets now because of all of this swiping action on the lock screen one feature had to be removed there's no more swipe to unlock instead Apple had to move this and make it a push the home button to unlock feature instead and honestly it kind of makes more sense especially if you use Touch ID already because you're going to put your finger on the home button anyway to unlock the phone so why not just press and leave it there Apple also added new 3D touch shortcuts one of which I think is kind of cool where in you force touch on an app icon it will bring up that app's corresponding widget which is neat because then you can get certain information from that widget depending on how useful the widget is uh instead of having to open the app to get what you need again they're pushing widgets really want you to use them cuz nobody used them in iOS 9 let's be real along with some of the new features Apple also redesigned some of their existing apps the first one is music and now I personally don't really use apple music that much uh a lot of people have told me that the old version is a little chaotic and not that great to use the new version on the other hand uh seems to be a lot simpler has a few added features like uh lyrics lyrics and also previously downloaded music and is just a little more intuitive of a UI in general Apple Maps also got a little bit of an upgrade as well with on Route traffic updates and traffic reporting uh Slicker animations uh and they're just you could just tell they're trying to bridge the gap between functionally at least between it and Google Maps now I personally will still use Google Maps I'm sure most of you do too but uh they are getting at least a little closer now I love Google photos and I use it on my iPhone uh one for really smart backup uh and storage control which you can check out my video on how to use that below um but also it is really cool that it's so searchable you can use it to find faces of people it knows who they are it's a little creepy actually U but it is useful Apple basically wants you to stop using it so they've come out with photos and memories now it essentially is the same thing it has a searchable database and it also can organize photos in a much cleaner way along with the redesigns Apple also introduced a new app called home essentially homekit has been around for a really long time and it's a way to automate your home and have things talk to each other Etc but there really hasn't been like a centralized Hub where you can control all of that so this is what home is essentially it's like smart things that is owned by Samsung uh but Apple's version of course so what it will allow you to do is control your different uh homekit enabled devices from directly within that app create scenes and even do things like say you know good morning Siri or Siri good morning and it'll automatically turn on your coffee maker if you wanted to turn on the lights you know open your blinds whatever you might want it to do one of the biggest changes though in iOS 10 is the new messaging app and an effort to stop you from using Snapchat and Facebook messenger and the new Skype and all those other apps out there that are meant for chatting uh Apple decided to throw in a bunch of cutesy features into its own messaging app to try to compete so essentially we have things like fun animations we have handwritten notes we have bigger Emoji we have animations that take up the entire screen and Gifts images and a whole bunch of other stuff inside a new app store for messaging other than that though there is one last feature that's been put into iOS 10 that I think we've all been waiting with baited breath for you can now delete Apple's apps yeah that's right no more folder called extras or miscellaneous or junk whatever you called it where you just stuffed all of Apple's apps that you don't use because there are a lot of them like for example if you don't have an Apple Watch why do I need the Apple Watch app stupid right but now you can actually hold down on them just like any other app and tap the X to completely delete them from your phone if you ever want them back you just go into the App Store and you can redownload them waiting for that that's it guys a quick look at some of the biggest features that are in iOS 10 if you enjoy this video please thumbs up
