If You Liked This Then You'll Like This #2

If You Liked This Tag: A Series of Book Recommendations

Hey everyone, it's Haley and today I'm going to be doing an "if you liked this" tag on some of my favorite books. The basis of this series is that we're taking one book as a starting point, and then suggesting similar books based on various reasons such as genre, plot, or themes.

First Up: Rebel Bell by Rachel Hawkins

If you liked Rebel Bell by Rachel Hawkins, you might also enjoy dumpling by Julie Murphy. I'm actually not done with this yet, but I just started it yesterday and I get really intense Rebel Bell vibes from this one. I think it's just the fact that it takes place in the South and features a heroine who is really badass and doesn't care. I find that Harper and what is her will are kind of similar to each other, basically the same person. Both books have great messages and I think they're both awesome. This one is just a contemporary, while this one has a paranormal aspect to it. Despite these differences, I still think that if you liked this one, you would really like dumpling.

Next Up: Miss Pargett's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

If you liked Miss Pargett's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, you might also enjoy in the shadow of blackbirds by Cat Winters. The two books both have pictures that are incorporated into the story and they're both historical fictions. This one doesn't really focus on the historical fiction aspect of it, but rather has a paranormal element to it. Similar to this book, in the shadow of blackbirds also features ghosts and more complicated things that I won't go into explaining here. Both books are fantastic and I really enjoyed them.

Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslie Walton

If you liked Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslie Walton, you might also enjoy Magonia by Maria Deana Hedley. Apart from their very similar and both very beautiful covers, these books have a lot in common but at the same time are not identical. They're both magical realisms, with this one taking more of a contemporary tone than this one does. Both books deal with kind of bird-like things and they're both just really weird and really out there. I really liked both of them and think you would too - just read them both!

The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson

If you liked The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson, you might also enjoy The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. Both books are fantastic in their own right, but they're also both fantasies that kind of deal with little bits of royalty in them. There's some confusion with the love interest in both books, but that's just part of what makes them so good. They have badass female leads and are so well-written and cool. Yes, just yes!

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

Finally, if you liked The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan or really just the whole of the Heroes of Olympus series, you might also enjoy The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. This may seem like an odd match at first, but I think these books are both really similar in that they feature a group of people who are so well connected and have friends that you feel like you could be friends with too. They're all on these missions and encounter crazy, out there things. Both books are just great and I really think you'd like this one if you liked this one.
