Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe _ REVIEW on AUTOBAHN [NO SPEED LIMIT] by AutoTopNL

The Mercedes-AMG C63: A Muscle Car with Magic Suspension

As I slipped behind the wheel of the new AMG C63, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This car is a beast, with 510 horsepower under the hood, and it's clear that AMG has outdone themselves with this latest iteration. The first thing I noticed was the aggressive setting, which made everything feel like it was at its most intense. The adaptive dampers were engaged, which made for a truly magical driving experience.

I loved the way the car felt in Sport Plus mode, with the stiffest suspension setting and full throttle. It's clear that this car is designed to put the driver in control, with every bit of information at their fingertips. I particularly appreciated the AMG Driver Select button, which allows you to toggle between different driving modes with ease. The look of it is a bit cheapish, but I really like the way it looks, and the fact that everything you need is right on the steering wheel.

The C63 has big shoes to fill, especially given the arrival of new competition from BMW and Porsche. But I'm not sure if it's going to be able to live up to its predecessor - this car feels so much more refined and sophisticated than the old one. The 4-cylinder hybrid engine may seem like an odd choice for a muscle car, but trust me, it delivers. With over 600 horsepower on tap, this is a car that can move. And let's be honest, 510 horsepower is plenty of power to get anyone excited.

One of the standout features of this car is its suspension setup. The difference between Sport Plus and Comfort modes is massive, and it's clear that AMG has made a concerted effort to improve the ride quality of this car. In Sport Plus mode, the car feels stiff and firm, with just a hint of bounce underfoot. But as soon as you switch to Comfort mode, the suspension softens and absorbs all of the bumps and road irregularities. It's a truly exceptional setup.

The AMG Driver Select button also allows you to operate the adaptive dampers, which are absolutely magic. The system is incredibly intuitive, and it feels like an integral part of the driving experience. And with the new digital speedo gauge on display, it's clear that AMG has made a big effort to improve the interior design of this car.

The C63 also comes with a number of other features that are worth mentioning. The most notable is the 250mph limiter, which prevents the car from reaching its electronically limited top speed. This is a feature that was previously only available on AMG GT models, and it's a nice touch to see it included on the C63.

The C63 also has a number of other features that make it stand out from the crowd. The digital instrument cluster in front of us is particularly impressive, with its sleek design and intuitive layout. And while I'm not a huge fan of the new AMG logo on the steering wheel, I do appreciate the fact that they've managed to keep the sound of the engine so rich and satisfying.

One of the things that really sets this car apart from its rivals is its ability to accelerate quickly and quietly. The 0-100 time is just over three seconds, which is incredibly fast for a car of this size and weight. And as I pushed the car hard down the autobahn, I was amazed by how quickly it accelerated, even with the rear-wheel drive layout.

The C63 also has a number of other features that make it stand out from the crowd. The new AMG e-tron hybrid system is incredibly efficient, and it's clear that AMG has made a big effort to improve the car's environmental credentials. And while the sound of the engine may not be as loud as some of its rivals, it's still incredibly satisfying.

The GT version of the C63 is also worth mentioning. The suspension setup is slightly more aggressive than on the standard model, and the car feels even more track-ready as a result. The digital instrument cluster has been tweaked to provide even more information to the driver, and the overall design of the interior has been improved with a new steering wheel and seats.

In conclusion, the Mercedes-AMG C63 is an incredible car that truly deserves its reputation as one of the best muscle cars on the market. With its 510 horsepower engine, adaptive suspension, and aggressive driving modes, it's clear that AMG has outdone themselves this time around. While there are certainly some compromises to be made in terms of weight distribution and rear-wheel drive layout, the C63 is still an incredibly quick and agile car that's sure to put a smile on your face.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this pov review by autodopanal my name is max and today we are checking out another viewer's car this is peter's 2019 mercedes amg c63s coupe a and peter has been with us before he brought his bmw m550i with a remus exhaust if i'm not mistaken that car sounded absolutely mental super cool v8 sound and in the meantime peter bought a porsche turbo s a bmw m2 competition and now he's got this c63s so a lot has happened and well this is the last probably the last really great c63 so we decided to take it out for a review today i'm going to show you around it i'm going to show you the spec peter has and of course we're going to talk about the facelift because this is quite a big facelift that happened in 2018 and after that we'll take it for a drive towards the ultraman for an autobahn blast so let's start with the spec and we're going to start with the color i think this is a graphite gray magno so it's a very dark gray matte color and normally i'm not a big fan of this but i do think that it looks particularly striking on this car and the koopa isn't even my favorite c63 s it's basically the third favorite after the estate and the sedan but i have to say that i really like it in this spec i think it looks super mean with those black wheels those golden ceramic brake calipers and of course the pan americana grille because that was introduced with the facelift in 2018 and it gives the car such a mean and aggressive look at the front of course it came from the amg gt-r and it made its way down to a lot of other models but i really hope that mercedes are not going to go too crazy with that grille and put it on everything i think they are already doing it but i hope they won't go any further than this so we've got these beautiful amg wheels 19-inch fake center locks unfortunately and behind that the ceramic brakes really awesome uh i just love that color of the brake caliper that gold is so cool the contrast with that wheel absolutely gorgeous and then in the rear we've got 19 inch at the front 20 inch at the rear by the way and then we've got this little carbon fiber duct tail spoiler this little gurney flap very very cool gives the rear a nice and racy look really love that for this facelift 2018 also meant that the amg performance exhaust came as standard on the c63s so that was a very nice upgrade as well of course we've got new light units front and rear and let's take a look at the engine the four liter v8 bi-turbo now it still has 510 horsepower 700 newton meters just like the pre-facelift but it is now linked to a new gearbox the 9g tronic so 9-speed gearbox instead of the 7-speed it had before and this really was the achilles heel of this car the gearbox really wasn't too great this gearbox is much better even though you have the feeling sometimes that you keep shifting because you have nine gears there are so many but it is a lot better than the seven speed that used to be in this car now of course as i said it's probably the last really great c63 because the next generation c63 is going to have a four-cylinder hybrid drivetrain and it's going to have the a45s four-cylinder highly revised i imagine but not my favorite amg engine uh it's really not a great engine in my opinion so i'm really curious to see what they come up with but it's never going to be as good as this so it's a bit sad so i think peter did a great job buying this car because i think you know this is going to be an awesome car to drive for many many years to come i think now on the interior a lovely spec as well so we've got carbon fiber on the dash on the center console absolutely beautiful with an amg logo there and the iwc clock i think we talked about this what was that the amg gt review i think they ended that partnership now and you don't get that little clock anymore which is a shame peter has two really great things one is that he doesn't have the sport seats or like the race seat so he doesn't have the buckets this is a super nice and comfy seat fits the c63 really well i think and uh the buckets are just way too uncomfortable you can you can't you can't last like three four hours in those unless you really like to hurt yourself so the other thing is that we've got this awesome carbon fiber steering wheel with alcantara absolutely gorgeous little 12 o'clock marker there and some aluminium and for this facelift also we've got the drive select button on the right and the configurability on the left now that is a main theme for this car the configurability is insane so you've got these two buttons right here or three actually and then you've got the drive mode selector down here you've got your manual your suspension and traction control but you also have something let me show you by going into i still freaking can't handle this system it's been it's been so many years dynamic select configure individual so you can also go for amg dynamics and you can choose between basic advanced pro and master and i think this this goes for everything as you can see so it's i think it's a setup for the traction control the suspension probably also the torque vectoring and stuff like that and then um we've also got something really cool if you turn off traction control so you can use this button right here hold that to turn it off you get your nine stage traction control selector your total switch here which is the same as in the amg gtr the yellow one you had there that's this basically so you can go from on one all the way to nine which is completely off and i mean i really like that i think the c63 can be quite a tricky car to drive fast in conditions like this but i think this is super smart because it means that everyone uh can enjoy this car no matter your you know your driving skill or your experience with fast cars if you are relatively sensible and you keep your traction control like that in in three for instance you can still explore you know the limits a little bit without it ending with the car uh over there in that cabbage field or whatever that is so i think that is really smart now of course yeah we're just going to turn it all the way off because i like it that way we have the exhaust here this is an opf car but it actually it sounds better than the this is comfort by the way so if we go to race we have crackles as well so this actually sounds a lot better than that e63 as we had recently that 2021 car this is much louder actually all right so i think my tires were a little bit dirty there that's not how it usually goes all right so as i said the nine speed gearbox is such an improvement still it's not the best gearbox out there i have to say um it's not as good as as the zf8 speed for instance but i have to say reaction to the battle pretty decent upshifts fairly quick and just all together a massive improvement over that seven speed which was sluggish didn't really respond to your commands the way you would want to the way you would want it to and it just it really was the weak point of the car because for a long time i think the c63 was the most enjoyable uh car to drive in this segment because of its v8 and the other ones all had six cylinders um so i think the the gearbox really let it down in that aspect and i think this nine speed it kind of fixes that alrighty little sound check yeah little rev limiter there which i still don't like the amg rev limiter you can't hear it so it takes a second it just the the sound just disappears basically instead of it you know blipping off the the limiter so you for for like half a second you don't realize that you're hitting it which is stupid oh it's still that is very bright it still feels like sort of a muscle car which is so nice oh man it is it's so manageable and we are in race mode right now so that means that everything is at its most aggressive setting we've got adaptive dampers which are absolutely magic i'm going to show you that on the autobahn later on but we can also click this button right here as i said don't think i showed you but you can toggle between all the different settings here and then use this button to operate it but it works really well it feels a bit cheapish but i really like the look of it and i really like the fact that you have everything you need on the steering wheel oh the next the next c63 has some big shoes to fill i really don't think that it's going to be able to live up to this which is a shame yeah that's that is a good up shift it's a good gearbox so still really likes to waggle it still it is it's such a cool car this i really really hope that amg know what they're doing with that next four-cylinder hybrid car i mean this is 510 horsepower which is more than enough and the fact you know they can come with like a hybrid four-cylinder 600 horsepower car i i don't know if it's going to be better or cooler than this because it has more power all righty at the old man so let's um i i said i was going to show you guys the suspension so i'm going to keep it in sport plus like right for right now so the most fierce setting the stiffest one full throttle and you can immediately feel i don't know if you guys can see that because of the stabilizer of the gopro but i can immediately feel the car bouncing up and down a little bit it's it's quite stiff quite firm and then we're going to go for comfort and it just absorbs everything that is such a good suspension setup the difference is massive so in here full throttle you do have a bit of that exhaust behind you but it's not super loud it is quick though and for this facelift in 2018 they also decided to make the amg driver spec so the race top speed to make that as standard a feature and that means that it goes from 250 to i think 280 this is the limiter i think 293 and that should be around 280 uh gps speed but it gets there quite easily it's it's not a difficult thing for this car so zero to 100 3.9 seconds which is the same as the pre-facelift of course it is hindered by the rear wheel drive a little bit in that respect and the strange thing is that is not quicker than in the pre-facelift seven-speed version so i think that's just the limit of what they can do with this setup that is quick and of course we've also got the new digital speedo gauge the instrument cluster in front of us which i'm not the biggest fan of i liked the analog much better what is that a gt3 2 ring that's a nice car i love how they still even with this opf i how they still have been able to to make it sound good i mean that gt was that the gt no the e63 we drove recently with the 2021 i that one was so disappointing sound wise this is much better all right here we go so we also measured the 100 to 200 time of course as you can see on screen right now it is not as quick as a bmw m4 competition the new one but it's still a very very quick car and i mean the way it just keeps going like this when you hit 250 you have you feel like it still has so much to go i mean 300 speedo would be easy if it wasn't for that limiter we're going to break because that car is going left yep saw that one coming a mile away but in this setting you know you've got that burbling v8 we've got these super comfy seats the suspension in comfort as well it is a really cool gt car it's comfy it's quick it's cool it sounds amazing peter you've got a great car i'm not sure how long you're going to keep this one because i feel like you switch cars a lot but i hope you enjoy this car for a long time because it is mega and the next c63 is not going to be able to hold a candle to this awesome car so i'm going to end it there i hope you enjoyed it thanks for watching
