Welcome to Cook and Share Midweek Meals!
Hey guys, how are you doing? I'm Dave, and I'm excited to welcome you back to our channel. We're always on the lookout for ways to make mealtime easier and more enjoyable, especially when it comes to busy midweeks. You know the feeling - coming home from a long day, feeling tired, and not wanting to spend hours in the kitchen trying to whip up something delicious. That's why we've been focusing on creating as many 30-minute meals as possible for you guys.
Today, we're making one of our favorite recipes: Cumin Chicken! You're going to love it, and I'm excited to share all the details with you. Let's get started!
First, let's talk about spices. We've got a few key ingredients that make this dish come together. In the bowl, we have two teaspoons of cumin - and I'm going to divide that in half, so I'll put one teaspoon into the bowl and use the remaining half teaspoon for later. Next, we've got half a teaspoon of dried oregano. Now, when I say "eyeballing" this, I mean that's exactly what I'm doing. It's not about being precise; it's about getting a good balance of flavors. Finally, we've got a quarter teaspoon of garlic salt and my all-time favorite - some ground black pepper.
Now that our spices are ready, let's talk about the chicken breasts. We're using boneless, skinless chicken breasts, which are about four to six ounces each. You can adjust the size to your liking, but keep in mind that bigger pieces of chicken will take longer to cook. After that, we've got a small bowl where we'll mix together half a cup of salsa - I'm using mild today, but feel free to use medium or hot, depending on your preference. We're also adding a quarter cup of water and the remaining cumin, which is about one teaspoon.
Now, it's time to get cooking! In a pan over medium-high heat, we'll add about a tablespoon of olive oil - yes, I'm like Popeye; I love my olive oil! Once the oil is hot, we'll add the chicken breasts and cook them for a few minutes until they're nicely browned on both sides. This takes about seven to eight minutes, so be patient! Finally, we'll pour our sauce over the chicken and bring it to a boil. After that, we'll reduce the heat to medium-low, slip the lid on, and let this simmer for about 10 to 12 minutes.
After about 10 minutes, the chicken is cooked, and it's time to plate! We'll spread some of that delicious sauce over the top of the chicken, garnish with some cilantro, and voilà! You've got yourself a mouthwatering Cumin Chicken dish in under 30 minutes. Let me show you what we've got here... (pauses) Guys, this is so good! The cumin shines through, and the salt balances out the flavors perfectly. And look at how tender that chicken is!
