Healthcare in America

**A Personal Struggle with Healthcare: A YouTuber’s Frustrating Experience**

In a recent video, a YouTuber who primarily focuses on tech content shared an unexpected and deeply personal story about his experience with healthcare in the United States. This video marks a departure from his usual lighthearted and fun-filled tech discussions, as he addresses a serious issue that has left him feeling angry, frustrated, and robbed.

### The Health Crisis

The YouTuber begins by explaining how he has suffered from severe heartburn and acid reflux since his twenties. These issues worsened over time, eventually leading to a hiatal hernia—a condition where the stomach is pushed up into the throat. This made even simple actions like drinking water excruciating due to extreme acid reflux and other complications.

After years of dealing with this debilitating condition, he finally sought help from a gifted doctor who performed surgery to fix the issue by inserting an implant. The procedure was life-changing, and he describes it as the best decision he ever made. However, his gratitude for the medical care he received is overshadowed by his frustration with the healthcare system that failed him.

### The Cost of Healthcare

The YouTuber paid $2,000 per month for his insurance over the past two years, totaling over $40,000. Despite this substantial investment, his insurance company, United Healthcare, denied coverage for the critical surgery that saved his life. He expresses disbelief and anger at the fact that despite paying such a high premium, he was left with a significant medical bill.

He reflects on why many YouTubbers are from Canada or other countries with better healthcare systems. The answer, he says, is simple: they can afford to create content because their healthcare costs are not as prohibitive as in the U.S.

### Frustration with the System

The YouTuber emphasizes that while the American healthcare system is world-class for those who can afford it, it falls short for individuals without the means to pay out-of-pocket. He points out the irony of having access to the best medical care in the world but only if you are a millionaire or have comprehensive insurance coverage.

He shares his disbelief at how United Healthcare, despite being one of the largest and most influential healthcare companies, would deny coverage for such a critical procedure. The situation has left him feeling betrayed and outraged, especially knowing that others might not have the resources to afford similar treatments.

### A Call to Action

The YouTuber urges viewers to take action by tweeting at United Healthcare to voice their outrage over such practices. He highlights how this issue transcends politics, as both political parties have been lobbied by healthcare companies, leading to systemic corruption and lack of reform.

He acknowledges that some viewers might suggest moving to countries with better healthcare systems, but he chooses to stay in the U.S., where he was born and raised. The fact that such issues persist in his home country deeply upsets him.

### Conclusion

The YouTuber ends on a hopeful note, stating that while he will recover from this financial setback, not everyone would be as fortunate. He hopes that by sharing his experience, he can contribute to raising awareness about the shortcomings of the American healthcare system and inspire others to take action against such injustices.

In closing, he thanks his viewers for tuning in and assures them that his next video will return to tech content, as this type of discussion is not something he plans to do regularly. However, he felt compelled to share his story because it was too important to ignore.

value as i can with uh my videos and and that's the whole goal of my channel is to just have fun with technology and that but today i got something serious i i've never made one of these videos i'm not into drama or politics or any of that business but this has made me so angry and so frustrated and caused some sleepless nights that i i i just have to talk about it because this bill right here popped up on my doorstep about a year after i did this surgery which pretty much saved my life uh it and i won't get into the two nitty-gritty of it but basically i'd been having heartburn all the way from my 20s and it got so bad that anytime i drink water i'd get extreme acid reflux uh and a lot of other issues because of a hiatal hernia which is stomach gets pushed up in your throat basically a lot of other nastiness and i had a very gifted doctor go in and fix this and put an implant in to fix it and a year later i can say it was the best thing i've ever done best best surgery best outcome i could have ever hoped for i'm extremely happy i did it other than united healthcare and the insurance i had um and yeah we're gonna touch on health care here in america if you're not aware i know a lot of people overseas watch me um our health care system is fantastic world-class many americans think it's the best in the world and to that i'd say yes but with a very very large asterisk and it is if you're a millionaire it is the absolute best you can find the best doctor you can get the best treatment everything is great but if you're not and you don't have any insurance or if you have
