The Power of Durance: A New Companion in Our Quest

As we journeyed through the land, our party had grown stronger with each new addition. And so, it was with great excitement that we welcomed a new companion to our ranks - Durance, a third-level priest, migrant, and metal folk. But what made him stand out from the rest? It wasn't just his impressive stats, which included 18 resolve, 24 concentration, and an 8 on deflection. No, it was the unique abilities that set him apart.

One of Durance's most notable features was his ability to channel the power of holy radiance. This area effect spell granted a field of holy energy around him, burning any vessels in the vicinity and regenerating a modest amount of endurance for his allies. The power of holy radiance was modified by how well Durance's reputation aligned with the preferred behaviors of his faith, making it a valuable asset to our party.

Another skill that Durance possessed was Second Wind. We had all seen this spell before - it was a staple of many a priest's arsenal. With Second Wind, a folk or ally could regain some of their lost endurance, giving them a second chance at survival. And then there was Fighting Spirit, which granted a 7% accuracy boost to Durance and his fellow folk.

But what truly set Durance apart was his ability to tap into the power of Indomitable Spirit. Whenever he fell below 50% endurance, he gained a bonus to accuracy and damage. It was as if he had a built-in safety net, one that would help him stay on top of his game even in the darkest of times.

As we looked at Durance's stats, we couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. His defense was 29, which was impressive for a priest of his level. And yet, it was his spells that truly made him shine. Armor of Faith created a tangible shield of faith, increasing the damage reduction of allies in its area of effect. Barbs of Condemnation punished targets for their sins, decreasing their deflection and reflex. Divine Terror frightened enemies, striking fear into their hearts.

Of course, no priest's arsenal would be complete without some healing spells. And Durance had them all - Prayer Against Fear immunity to frightened, terrified, for 25 seconds; Restore Minor Endurance to help his allies regain some of their lost vitality. Constant Consecrated Ground and Divine Mark were also part of his repertoire.

As we prepared to face the challenges ahead, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. With Durance by our side, we knew that we had a true warrior in our midst. And as we set out on our quest, we knew that we would need all the help we could get - especially when it came to finding the elusive Widow in the Woods and curing Ofra's pregnancy.

The journey ahead would be long and difficult, but with Durance leading the way, we felt confident that we could overcome any obstacle. And so, with our party now complete at five members, we set off into the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

actually we took on more than that but the last battle was so close to being the end with these four wolves the deer saved the party again he was down to one endurance point and he had used all of his second chances it was just about over and with one final blow he was able to slay the wolf and the party is back so what we're going to do is we're going to rest but through all this can you believe tane has finally enough experience to level up but before we take him in to that level into the leveling up uh process what we're going to do is we're going to rest because we badly need it and i think this is as good a place as any to rest and we're going to change now the racial accuracy bonus to beast because that's what these wolves are and that'll be the racial accuracy bonus retain okay so we'll rest six hours and we'll have our spell capability back and fully healed now what we will do is we are going to level up tane our omaha monk nice okay i think before we do this okay so what do we get here now how does this work we have six points that we can use here all right so we have six points and i'm almost thinking should it be survival this time because what survival does is it allows our characters to choose from a variety of long-term bonuses each time they camp the first six ranks grant the following bonuses yeah that is actually pretty good but then we also have athletics and athletics grants the second wind a 40 endurance and let's see we have athletics two plus one for the monk plus one as the slave equals four okay well and stealth i don't think we're gonna do stealth and then lor no so i'm thinking it's survival but it can only be used though when we camp whereas athletics look at athletics grant's second wind so adventuring his tiring work in addition to the hazards of mortal combat adventurers have walls to climb rivers to cross and pits to leap over so once per encounter characters with athletics can use the second wind ability to recover lost endurance a higher athletic score increases the effect of second wind uh you know what i'm almost thinking of loading up on athletics let's see if we put one there we put okay so if we put one point into athletics it takes us to points to advance four oh i see okay so level five okay so we get now 45 endurance whereas what do we have before 40. it's not that much of a change it's not much of a change but 45 is 45. okay and then we have three points left for survival i guess uh mechanics disarm difficulty is there anything with mechanics not really lore is for spells stealth i don't know about stealth what does it do oh this is actually pretty good look at this the higher the character's skill the closer they can get to enemies before being detected and you know what i like about this is yeah i like the stealth for uh for teen as well the reason why he carries that hunting bow and he's pretty pretty accurate with it actually but survival will only give him well it gives him the bonuses though when he rests let's just see what the difference is so with five okay so with level five survival he now has what doesn't really say anything oh after the sixth rank the previously earned bonuses become more powerful in the same order they were received okay so i guess we do want to get up to six level six here for survival okay maybe that's what we'll do so we've gone up to athletics and survival what's next for tame yes okay this is where we really need him to help out here i think what we need for teen is some kind of defense uh let's see what does swift strikes do he has one ability that he can use it's swift strike so monk abilities cover an array of effects to bolster the effects of their melee attacks protect the monk from afflictions or turn the tables on attackers most monk abilities are powered by wounds but some simply have per encounter or per rest use okay so the monks hands become a frenzied blur of attacks increasing their attack rate for a brief period requires one wound speed is instant so the effect is users plus 25 percent attack speed for 20 for 10 seconds attack speed is good it's very good but what's a turning wheel it's passive so it's the monk is able to channel physical pain into pure energy and redirect it at his or her attackers while the monk has wounds he or she adds a proportional fire bonus to melee damage self plus five burn damage per wound plus five percent burn damage per wound that's not bad long stride intense practice and years of study enabled the monk to move with confident fluidity in battle during combat the monk's movement rate is significantly increased effects self plus 2 move speed that's not bad force of anguish a powerful attack that knocks the target back a significant distance if the attack is successful target bumps others out of the way and bounces off hard surfaces like walls before ending a prone wow requires two wounds it's a friendly of uh effect area friendly area of effect target seven meter push that's a lot and then prone for 10 seconds oh this is excellent the force of anguish oh this is difficult really it's either the force of anguish or the swift strikes i like the speed but it's only for 10 seconds the turning wheel is burned no way it's gonna be force of anguish okay so he has force of anguish so two wounds and then tein can start using force of let's talk to durants squatting at the base of this statue is an incredibly ugly man with bulging red cheeks raked by pox scars and a scraggly beard he is sweating as if he has a fever but his breathing is measured and steady like a slow push of a black smith's a bellows but that comparison feels strange and unwelcome the next comparison possibly sparked by his grin is that of a bear trap and then out of nowhere there is the hint of alchemical fire that fades almost as soon as you identify the smell come to pray the statue the question mark is barely there as the man makes the statement the statue takes on a reddish cast as if one is holding a torch to it then slowly blossoms into waving flames the man doesn't turn as the statue blossoms into fire the others are welcome but it's best if just you and i trade words and your shadows stay quiet hands off their weapons both arcane and steel it's only you i want to trade words with anyway oh i swear before the that is margarine no harm will come to you in her shadow if that's enough of a promise for you if not a staff rests easily in his hand it wasn't there a moment ago examine the statue the weaving fire light and there is a certainty this staff was once something far more dangerous but not now as you study it deeper it shimmers slightly in your eyes like water catching the light weaving across the statue whatever power was bled from the staff it doesn't make it or the wielder any less dangerous you look up to see the man watching you studying the staff as his gaze meets yours he nods with a humorless smile study the man the sudden weaving flames from the statue of megran cast more light on his features the man's robes are dirty stained with grease and other marks of the road the hems of his robes including the sleeves are burned at the edges as if he walked a great distance across a fire then reached into the flames with his hands to pull something out but while his hands are thick and calloused they bear no burn or scorch marks i didn't catch your name or why you want to speak with me i didn't give it you probably find names as useless as i do the names that litter this world like debris are hard enough to wrap around the tongue and what do they matter it's what's beneath the skin and the letters i care about what burns within it's more important to me you're a watcher than whatever culture or accent decorates your letters like awkward crowns take pride in your actions not where you hail from or how your name rolls off whatever liar's tongue coats it now if you need a granting immunity to the sickened and weakened afflictions repulsing seal prone for eight points eight seconds places a magical seal on the floor that sends enemies sprawling on contact causing them to become prone oh this is good and then restore light endurance okay 22 20.2 endurance and that's suppress affliction hostile effects suspended for 6.3 seconds stifles detrimental conditions through
