The Best Way To Vinyl Wrap A Door Handle _ Subaru STI

**Creating a Relief Cut: A Step-by-Step Guide**

Right here is do a relief cut okay boom I gotta stop using that word it's really just becoming you have it all right now I can actually draw the film across a little bit further again working in to the recessed area not feeding the vinyl in here first and then working into the recessed area it's just going to build tension on tension now what I'm going to do is score the film. It's a little funny so I have to start climbing back the other way.

**Scoring the Film**

so this piece is actually stuffed Larry OH - the piece behind it it's just very careful cutting at this point okay now what I'm going to do is take my next piece my other side and do the exact same thing right walking into the recess first perfect so I have some good overlap and I'm going to give this a nice post heat yeah it's pretty damn hard. And we give the post heat what that means is we're killing the memory in the film by killing the memory in the film, we are ensuring it doesn't want to pull back.

**The Role of Post Heat**

got one tiny little wrinkle on the edge here let's get it out holding it over the heat don't want to be doing that they're real so again even though I have I shouldn't have any tension on this edge I'm still gonna eat it up make sure everything's solid before I cut. I don't want it be cutting I don't wanna be wrapping this door handle like six times, they want to do it once as far as this back section goes here what I like to do is well bang it out all in one shot okay we're just gonna cut tops it's going to be basically a cutting fault so we go from the corner and a lot of them usually have a corner.

**The Importance of Cutting Straight Lines**

same deal here keep holding it over the heaters just throwing me off let's just tear that the rest of the way yep then now what I'll do is I'll hold this piece in I know trim it get it out of the way I usually do the top piece, the middle piece afterwards bring that piece in Sherman and get her out of the way we do the top piece I put a little emphasis on pushing down on these corners and getting them around that's that so we have full coverage.

**The Benefits of Cutting in One Piece**

we're gonna have to put a scene back here anyways so I don't see any harm in ever doing it this way you can as long as you keep your lines straight, I mean it's not bad spot it's behinds anyways so you're never really gonna see this you're gonna see this briefly for a second every time the door handle is pulled all right now we're gonna cut on the backside. You don't need to leave a lot of film since we don't have a lot of tension, we'll have any tension actually over be careful when you're cutting you don't want to cut yourself my hand is pretty close okay.

**Cutting the Backside**

so we have a beautiful round straight edge okay let's do the back let's do the same over here easiest door handle ever generally on the back you want to make sure that someone just got shot. Generally on the backside you want to make sure that your line is straight so that when people grab it they don't feel like this jagged crooked line or something with wrinkles in the back, so make sure that your line is straight.

**The Importance of Straight Lines**

I mean doesn't have to be completely parallel it just has to be straight even if it's on an angle it won't feel bad as long as it's pretty straight. This is pretty straight this is pretty straight and I'm good with that so we can see that this door handle looks mint stop the door handle back on and call it a day, we have a little back piece to do a separate section on the back done exactly the same way but we don't have to wrap on the inside here which is nice.

**The Benefits of Cutting the Backside**

so it's actually faster and that's it, so guys if you liked the video give it a thumbs up, if you guys want to see more hit the subscribe button. But some more videos coming on the Tsuru from bumper rear bumper trunk I guess and that's pretty much it done most of it. The side skirt lowers that kind of stuff super easy it's not complicated as far as that kind of stuff goes well yeah just straight panels, thank you for watching guys don't forget to hit the subscribe button take care

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's going on guys all right so I'm gonna show you how to wrap some really really really really nice door handles and these are not that nice of a door handle but I'm gonna show you how to wrap them really nicely it's just a regular door handle now these door handles don't have oh it's laughing at me these door handles don't have a censor behind here so there's it's fully white all the way through so we want to have full coverage right so I'm gonna plant a couple of things here so what I've done here is I've mounted the door handle to the car I've also masked here and here what this is going to do is going to allow the vial to slide off and there's a trick to this sorry so what I want to do is find the center point and put the vinyl right under that edge a little bit okay now I'm gonna pull across and what's gonna happen as I pull across is this is gonna want to grab in and this is what I'm gonna want to grab into the top and the bottom what's gonna happen is we have the tension working across the film as opposed to coming towards this end this end right here is where door handles typically always fail so because we're stretching if we go in this way to this way we're stretching stretch and stretch and all the way to the end we can't really account for how much tension we have here on the end it's hard to alleviate that attention on the end and get all the wrinkles at the same time so what do we do we work we reverse similar to the mirror so I'm gonna work reverse here and what I'm gonna do is focus my heat more so here and here we do need a bit to come through but again when I get back here we're not heating back here so there's not gonna be any tension in this area right here we want to put a pretty good pull through but again not back here so what we want to do here is just iron out the wrinkle that we have super easy this is pulling the opposite direction of the wrinkle and again when we get back here we're going to be tension free okay what's gonna happen now is when I alleviate the top from right here let that come off and I'm gonna show you what happens right now what's gonna happen is when I heat the film boom it just grabbed right around the top blue that's so that's like the most amazing thing you've ever seen in your life or close to it so I'm just gonna feed the vinyl and now that it's nice and flat nice little way so all this tension is dispersed across coming across this edge now it won't it will not pull up from here and it will not pull up from here watch the bottom again okay let's we got two times see this it's like this is the most exciting stuff of my day okay so I'm gonna hold it up a little bit now watch boom do it it just grabs this is basically we're heat shrinking the film around the door handle so you might ask me okay how am I gonna wrap the rest of the door handle now well I haven't completely mounted the door handle all I've done is place the door handle on the car to give myself a mounts mounting point basically so let's finish off the top here a little bit the one thing with door handles is we have to be careful of grease they're usually greased up pretty good alright so now I can take this off and there we have the lovely compressor not really sure why anyways take this off so I got to slide the door-handle back it's a little bit stiff Arielle now typically when those who are rapping door handles when you're rapping a door handle what you're doing is you're getting a lot of wrinkles around this edge right if you've ever done a door handle before you know that stretching this way across it's going to cause a lot of wrinkles around this edge but what do I have I have no wrinkles around this edge I mean you can just heat it it'll probably even shrink a little bit more around this there we go so we have no tension zero tension it's actually no tension anywhere on this except running right through here that eliminates a point failure now when it comes to doing the rest of the door-handle you can choose to either put another piece in here which is probably the safest bet or you can stretch in what I recommend is always going for the most recessed area her switch would be this area taking in heating in this area and then stretching into this area alright so we're taking the tension from across so that's what I'm going to do so what I'll do is I'll mount the heat gun in a softness and then what I want to do is run my finger my thumb through that recess right at the lowest point possible if this is an area that you're going to want to post heat okay so same thing with the next slide we're taking most of it from the middle now what I'm going to do is because I'm getting a lot of tension right here is do a relief cut okay boom I gotta stop using that word it's really just becoming you have it all right now I can actually draw the film across a little bit further again working in to the recessed area not feeding the that just keep that tension that edge tension free and that will last as well I've already done the back one here so you can see that one and that's it so guys if you liked the video give it a thumbs
