SPOOKATHON TO BE READ!!!

The Art of Reading: A Spooktacular Challenge

As I sit down to write about my reading experience, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. This month, I embarked on a thrilling challenge that tested my reading skills and pushed me out of my comfort zone. The theme of the challenge was "thrillers," which is an area where many readers tend to waver. However, for me, thrillers have always been a source of fascination and enjoyment. I've noticed that 70% of people hate thrillers, but I'm one of the rare individuals who truly loves them. This realization sparked my curiosity, and I decided to take on the challenge head-on.

As I delved into the world of thrillers, I found myself drawn to books that not only kept me on the edge of my seat but also offered a unique reading experience. One such book was "Elizabeth Frankenstein," which I picked up with a sense of excitement and curiosity. While I'm not entirely sure what to expect from this classic novel, I assumed it was set in the past due to its age. I decided to double down on this challenge by pairing it with other books that fit the theme.

Another book that caught my attention was "Scream and Scream Again," a middle-grade novel with twenty harrowing tales written by an array of authors, including Alstyne, Jeff Soloway, Lisa Moore, and Phil Matthews. I was intrigued by the diversity of authors and the promise of spine-tingling stories within its pages. The word "scream" is undoubtedly a spooky term that sent shivers down my spine, making me eager to dive into this book.

For this challenge, I also decided to pair it with another book that seemed fitting – "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." As a fan of witchy novels and the upcoming Netflix adaptation, I couldn't resist the opportunity to read the original graphic novel. The excitement was palpable as I looked forward to immersing myself in this dark rendition of Sabrina's story.

To add an extra layer of complexity to my reading experience, I decided to attempt a fifth book – "Broken Thanks" by Lauren Oliver. This novel seemed to be shrouded in mystery, with hints of China fantasy and fanfiction elements. The premise revolved around two girls, Brynn and Mia, who became obsessed with creating a fictional world, only to find themselves confronting dark truths from their past.

As I prepare for this reading challenge, I'm filled with anticipation and excitement. Each book represents a unique opportunity to explore new worlds, characters, and themes. I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with you, dear readers, through weekly vlogs that will provide updates on my progress throughout the month.

For those participating in the Spooktacular Challenge, I'd love to hear about your own reading choices and challenges. Please feel free to share what books you've picked and how you're pairing them with other themes or genres. Your enthusiasm and passion for reading are what make this challenge so exciting, and I'm honored to be a part of it.

As I embark on this thrilling adventure, I'm reminded that reading is an experience that can evoke a range of emotions – from excitement to unease. It's a journey that requires courage, curiosity, and a willingness to step out of our comfort zones. And for me, that's exactly what makes reading so enchanting.

With that in mind, I'll take on the challenges head-on, embracing the thrill of discovery and the joy of exploration. Whether it's a spooky word in the title or a book with photos, I'm ready to immerse myself in the world of words. Bring it on!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone today I'm going to share with you my spook Athan TVR so if you don't know spook Athan is a read-a-thon that happens every single October during the third week of October which this year it is going to be from October 15th to the 21st there are several hosts I participated in this last year I really enjoyed it so I am participating again this year because I learned that I really love doing read-a-thons and blocking them and just reading certain challenges and things like that so if you're unfamiliar with food booth on I will link all of the videos down below talking about it and more information and things like that so what the spoke of on there are I forget how many challenges there are exactly within this book Athan there are five challenges and I have picked up five books I believe for those five challenges which five books during week for me it's quite a stretch so we'll have to see so I also want to say that two of the books that I want to read for this book thought are not even here yet they'll be here like tomorrow so forgive me as I don't have them with you all the challenges that are within this booth on it what books I am reading a four said challenges so let's begin the first challenge is to read a book with purple on the cover and this isn't one of the books I don't have quite yet the book I have selected for this one is the Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kirsten white I believe this is kind of purplish like looking a line it looks more pinkish but I mean I think that's like it's close enough so I'm going with that one look is all about Elizabeth Frankenstein who was very close to Victor Frankenstein and he starts to ask her to do more weirder things and of course you could you learn more about Victor and how kind of messed up he is so very interested to read about like a Frankenstein I don't know if it's a retelling but maybe a different perspective of Frankenstein so yeah that's the book I'm picking for purple on the cover next challenge is the same every year and that is to read a thriller for this one I am picking crossed her heart by Sarah pinburrough and I'm really nervous about this one because I've heard really good things about Sarah penber especially her first of all which i think was called behind her eyes but the more I hear about this book the more people can't stand it oh I feel like I don't know if I'll be in the same camp either I'm gonna read it and see what it's all about this one I don't know much about I know a lot about it I don't want to know a lot about throwing she really have to go into them blind but the only one is I feel like I'm going into this one already with kind of a pessimistic attitude which I don't want to have but hopefully I'll like it I've noticed especially with thrillers like 70% of people hate a thriller and I'm like one of the rare for you who really loves it too because that's been like that for me with several fillers in the past so this may be the case for this one as well either way will cease this is my thriller pick the next challenge is to read a book not set in the current time period so this could mean like I think dystopian set in the past alternate universe things like that for this one I'm doubling up and picking Elizabeth Frankenstein because it's older book at least I'm pretty sure it is so I'm assuming that it's set in the past so yeah doubling up on those challenges next challenge is to read a book with a spooky word in the title for this one I am picking scream and scream again by arles time scream is definitely a spooky word this middle-grade not with twenty harrowing tales and it has a plethora of authors like best fantasti has a gram or Alstyne jeff Soloway Lisa Moore and Phil Matthews a lot of them I have not read anything from so very interested for that and the last challenge is to read a book with photos in it for this one I am picking the chilling Adventures of Sabrina oh I have to read this book because your girls excited for the Netflix show coming out later this month but I ordered it and will be here tomorrow this is the I think what the Netflix adaptation is all about is taking strictly from this graphic novel I forget who it's by but I've heard really good things about it and I just love like witchy novels I'm excited to read this one I'm sure it's full of pictures I can't show you because I don't have it right now but rest assure I will have it very very soon but yeah I'm excited to read this one because I'm just so like insanely excited for the next books original like it's ridiculous how excited I am and to bring back Sabrina and a darker rendition of Sabrina Oh so that's actually four books I showed you so I'm gonna try to squeeze in a fifth one like I said after that one I'm gonna pick broken thanks by Lauren Oliver I just got this in the mail and I honestly don't know much about it other than it's kind of spooky it's been five years since me and brynn murdered summer marks their best friend in the woods and basically they're obsessed this novel called the way into lovelorn and what they're fanfiction imagining of its sequel the girls were drawn by it under China fantasy into the magical world they created but eventually their delusions turned sick and the shadow lovelorn central evil begins to haunt them or so the story goes the only thing is they didn't do it so I guess they didn't murder their best friend I don't know much about it basically on the anniversary of summer's death a seemingly insignificant discovery resurrects the mystery and pulls me and Brent back together once again but as past and present fiction and reality begin to intertwine bran and Mia must confront and painful truths they tried for so long to bury and face the long shadow of memory that has all this time been waiting álvarez an unforgettable mesmerizing tale of exquisite obsession Spode elephants and impossible friendships so I don't really know what this is about like there's a whole long synopsis that I'm still kind of confused like I guess their best friend died but they didn't do it I don't think they did it because they were obsessed with this book I don't know either way I'm interested so I'm gonna try to read that so there you go there is my spook asan TVR I would hold up two other books they don't have them but I'm really excited for this one I think I could do it because I read a lot of these looks pretty quickly the fast paced and thrilling I just want more of them so yeah very excited to read all of these
