A Fast 14 Core Intel CPU And The GPU Power You Need! AORUS 5 SE Hands-On

The Aorus 5SE: A Powerhouse Laptop for Gaming and Emulation

As I put the Aorus 5SE to the test, one thing became clear: this laptop is designed for serious gaming and emulation. With its 14-core, 20-thread Intel Core i7-12700H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card, it's more than capable of handling demanding games at high resolutions.

One of my first tests was running Elden Ring at 1080p maximum settings with ray tracing enabled. I was pleased to find that the laptop handled the game smoothly, without any noticeable stuttering or frame drops. The frame rate was a constant 60 FPS, and even when I tried to increase the resolution to 1440p, it maintained a smooth performance. This level of performance at high resolutions is exactly what gamers want, and the Aorus 5SE delivers.

I also checked out Doom Eternal at 1080p with nightmare settings on, and was impressed by the laptop's ability to maintain a high frame rate even in this demanding game. The average frame rate was an impressive 164 FPS, making it one of the smoothest gaming experiences I've had on a laptop. With this level of performance, it's clear that the Aorus 5SE is designed for serious gamers who want the best possible experience.

In addition to its gaming capabilities, the Aorus 5SE also excels in emulation. I tested out the Simu Wii U emulator at 1080p with Vulcan API enabled, and was happy to see it run smoothly without any issues. I also tried out Breath of the Wild, which ran perfectly at 1080p with Vulcan API enabled as well. The laptop's powerful processor and graphics card made short work of even the most demanding games.

But emulation isn't just about running games on a laptop - it's also about running console emulators. I tested out some Xbox 360 emulation using the Zinnia emulator, and was able to run Forza 2 without any issues. The frame rate was high and smooth, with an average of over 60 FPS.

Finally, I tried out some PS3 emulation using RP CS3, which is one of the more challenging emulators to use. However, thanks to the laptop's powerful hardware, it ran smoothly at 1080p with Vulcan API enabled. The frame rate was a consistent 60 FPS, making it a great option for those who want to run PS3 games on their laptop.

In terms of cooling and power consumption, the Aorus 5SE performed well. I set the laptop to Performance mode, which changed the fan curve at idle from 39 degrees Celsius to an average of 73 degrees Celsius during gaming. However, this was still relatively low, especially considering the laptop's powerful hardware. The maximum temperature I saw in a 10-minute Cinebench stress test was 93 degrees Celsius, but this is not uncommon for high-end laptops.

Battery life is also an important consideration for any laptop. With a 99-watt-hour battery and an RTX 3070 graphics card, the Aorus 5SE can drain the battery in about 55 minutes when running games at full power. However, under normal use, with just web browsing, email checking, and document editing, the laptop can easily last for 8 hours or more.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the Aorus 5SE. It's a powerhouse of a laptop that's designed for serious gamers and emulation enthusiasts. With its powerful processor, graphics card, and cooling system, it's able to handle even the most demanding games at high resolutions without any issues. And with its long battery life, it's a great option for those who want a laptop that can keep up with their active lifestyle.
