Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Smartphone Quick Review

**Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Review**

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is a compact version of the popular Galaxy S5 smartphone. In terms of raw internals, the specs are kind of just mid-ranges, supporting a quad-core processor and 1.5 gigs of RAM. The processor used on this device is the same Snapdragon 400 chipset that is also used on the Moto G. While it's not the most powerful processor available, it's still able to handle the UI on the S5 Mini without any major issues.

However, there were some instances where I did occasionally see some lag at times, which could be attributed to the mid-range processor. Additionally, playing heavy games like Asphalt 8 required keeping the graphic settings to medium to ensure smooth performance. Nevertheless, the device was still able to run Modern Combat 5 quite well in my opinion.

**User Interface and Design**

The S5 Mini's user interface is new and sleek, featuring round icons that are a departure from the traditional square-shaped icons used on older Samsung devices. The new UI also comes with features like Ultra Power Saving Mode, which was introduced on the Galaxy S5. While I found the interface to be responsive, there were some minor hiccups at times. However, these issues were relatively rare and did not detract from my overall experience.

One of the standout features of the S5 Mini's design is its fingerprint scanner, which works a lot better on this device compared to the regular Galaxy S5. This feature is a welcome addition for those looking for an added layer of security when using their phone.

**Web Browsing and Screen Quality**

In terms of web browsing, I had some very decent experiences with the S5 Mini's Super AMOLED screen, which features a 720P HD resolution. The viewing angles are also quite nice, making it easy to watch videos or browse the web without any issues. I did not experience any problems with excessive heating while using this device, even when playing games extensively.

**Durability and IP67 Certification**

One of the standout features of the S5 Mini is its IP67 certification, which means it's water-resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. This feature gives users peace of mind when it comes to handling their phone in wet conditions. The device also has a rubber gasket that prevents water from seeping into the device.

**Call Quality and Battery Life**

I was pleased with the call quality on this S5 Mini, which was clear and crisp even at high volumes. As for battery life, I found it to be decent with a single SIM card. However, I did not test the device extensively with multiple SIM cards or heavy usage patterns.

**Cons and Conclusion**

One of the cons of the S5 Mini is its back panel, which can feel a bit flimsy, particularly when playing audio at high volumes. The speaker also tends to vibrate violently when kept at maximum volume, giving off a cheap feeling. Additionally, the heart rate monitor was not always accurate, requiring me to be quite still for it to give reliable results.

Despite these minor drawbacks, I would say that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is a good Android phone by Samsung. The device offers a lot of functionality, including a fingerprint scanner, Super AMOLED screen, and IP67 certification, which make it an attractive option for those looking for a compact smartphone. However, if you're looking for a more powerful processor or a more premium feel, there may be other options available.

The S5 Mini is sold in India officially via Flipkart for ₹26,500, which works out to approximately $440 USD. While this price point may seem steep given the mid-range processor used, I believe that those who are willing to pay a premium for the various features offered by this device will find it to be a worthwhile investment.

In comparison, other compact smartphones like the Xperia Z3 Compact or the Xperia ZD1 Compact offer more advanced processors and features for their price. However, if you're not particularly concerned about having the most powerful processor available, the S5 Mini may still be worth considering due to its attractive design, user-friendly interface, and IP67 certification.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is ranit and in this video we'll be doing the review for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini which is the smaller version of the popular Galaxy S5 and Samsung has managed to pack in almost all the features of the regular S5 in this mini and this S5 Mini is a compact size smartphone from Samsung and this S5 Mini supports a 4.5 in Super AMOLED screen and it's a very compact phone hence it's comfortable to hold in a single hand and this will be ideal for people who just want a smaller size phone that can fit in a single hand moving towards the back we had a 8 megapix camera instead of the 16 megapix camera and the camera is okay but not as good as the regular Galaxy S5 that had a ISO cell in terms of focusing I would say it's slower than the regular Galaxy S5 we do also get the heart rate sensor on this S5 Mini and again the back is that same dimpled back which I'm not a big fan of but does provide a good grip in my opinion and this is the speaker in terms of user interface we do get the same new user interface that we started to see with the Samsung Galaxy S5 that's also the same on this S5 Mini but in terms of the raw internals the specs are kind of just mid-ranges it supports a quad core processor and the RAM on it is 1.5 gigs moving to the processor it's the same processor that is used on the Moto G uh that's the Snapdragon 400 chipset so this is kind of a mid-range processor and for the most part it is able to handle the UI on the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini but yes yes sometimes I do occasionally see some lag at times I could also play a lot of games on this Galaxy S5 Mini and in fact even heavy games like Asphalt 8 ran fine on this but on Asphalt 8 I had to keep the graphic settings to medium it could even run Modern Combat 5 actually pretty well in my opinion moving back to the user interface it's new touch was uh interface and again we get this new icons that are round in shape and we also do get other features like ultra power saving mode that we found on the Galaxy S5 and overall in general responsiveness the phone is pretty responsive I would say but sometimes yes I do see some minor Hiccup and lacks at times that is famous with touch West fortunately we do get that fingerprint scanner also on this S5 Mini and the fingerprint scanner actually works a lot better on this S5 Mini compared to the regular Galaxy S5 now if you move to the web browsing here also I had some very decent experience as you can see the pinch to zoom guesture is fairly responsive and the phone handles web browsing actually pretty good now if we move to the screen quality also uh the Super amlet Screen that's a 720P HD screen is also very good and the viewing angles as you can see are also very nice so in terms of web browsing I did not have any issues with this Galaxy S5 Mini also while normally using this device I did not notice any excessive Heating and even when I played some games with this device even though I played a lot of games it did not exhibit any overheating which is good now if we move to towards the back uh again the good thing is that this phone is IP67 certified so if you accidentally splash some water of water falls on it nothing should happen to the device and I'll just open the back cover now and as you can see we have a rubber gasket which prevents the water from seeping into the device and here you can add your micro SIM that is 1 and two and also the micro SD card on this S5 Mini now if we talk about the call Quality the call Quality on this S5 Mini was also pretty good and in terms of battery life I did all my testing with just a single Sim I would say the battery life was pretty decent with a single Sim on this device now moving to some of the cons that I feel are with this device is this back uh the back I would say uh is a little bit flimsy and particularly the speaker I would say if you uh keep the speaker at max volume the entire back actually vibrates and it simply does not give you a great feeling in fact I had the same problem with the regular Galaxy S5 but looks like Samsung has not solved that issue and that issue still persists on this Galaxy S5 Mini which gives it a very cheap feeling when you play back what do you say videos Etc at high volume the heart rate uh monitor also works as expected but you have to be pretty static for it to get accurate results now if we talk about the pricing this Galaxy S5 Mini is sold in India officially via flip cart and it sells for 26,500 rupees it's a flip cart exclusive and I would say considering what we are getting we are paying a premium because that comes down to almost $440 yes it does offer a lot of functionality like fingerprint scanner a super amulet screen and water IP67 certification but the internals the processor are just mid Rish in my opinion don't get me wrong the performance of this device is not bad but yes simply speaking you're paying a premium for a mid-range component I would say in terms of the processor that is used uh I would say everybody is doing that except Sony in fact I would suggest that if you're looking for a compact size phone I feel the Xperia Z3 compact or even the Xperia zed1 Compact does offer a lot more compared to this Galaxy S5 Mini because it runs on a much more faster processor compared to one we have on the Galaxy S5 Mini but if you have no problems regarding the price of the Galaxy S5 Mini and you like the various other features that are offered for example you like the super amulet screen or the fingerprint scanner it's a good Android phone by Samsung I hope that you found this video Rie helpful thank you for watching it this is ran and I hope to see you in my next videohi there this is ranit and in this video we'll be doing the
