The Equation: Food and Frustration

As we navigated through our day, it became apparent that food was always at the center of our discussions. I mentioned to the group that I like food, and someone responded with a sarcastic comment about how it's always part of the equation. This led to a lighthearted conversation about how even when things are bad, there's usually something we can find to complain about - including food.

However, before we could delve deeper into our complaints about food, one of us mentioned that they had not used their turn signal on a recent drive. The discussion quickly turned into a debate about whether or not using a turn signal was necessary in certain situations. I pointed out that turning only in a designated turn lane meant that turning was essentially a formality, and no one was really arguing for the use of turn signals in this case.

The conversation shifted gears (pun intended) as we began to discuss getting together with Soldier the next day. It was mentioned that we had never met him before, but seemed like a nice person. When asked if he could come over to our house, I expressed some hesitation, and we decided to invite him instead.

As we started to make plans for Soldier's visit, we began brainstorming ideas for things to do together. One suggestion was to record a couple of videos, which led to a discussion about how we didn't want Soldier to leave. This idea seemed to spark a humorous conversation about keeping him captive and feeding him. However, when someone asked if it would be okay with us to let him leave whenever he wanted, the tone quickly shifted back to normal.

We began reminiscing about past experiences, including my attempt to become a fly on the wall in the past. I mentioned that I thought I could travel back in time and observe from a fly's perspective, but realized that flies don't have fingers and couldn't possibly flip off someone. This led to a discussion about how even when we try new things, they might not be as enjoyable as expected.

Our outing had been going on for almost an hour by this point, and we were starting to get restless. We expressed our disappointment with the restaurant we had chosen, noting that it was cold due to being near a window. One of us suggested that it was probably because we had turned off the air conditioning earlier in the day.

As we waited for Chris to return from buying drinks, one of us asked if I could get a Mr Good Bar. To our delight, Chris returned with not one, but two! We celebrated with some Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer-themed merchandise, including a shiny car and elf-shaped treats.

I was excited to share that I had received a gift from Diana - a boxed wine set for both of us to enjoy together. However, it seemed that someone else had also received a surprise gift in the mail - a Kindle Fire.

We took a moment to appreciate some unexpected gifts in the form of photos from our friends. Lindsay shared a picture of her dog Spice, who seems to be a Shih Tzu mix. Meanwhile, Justin Big shared a photo of his Thanksgiving meal, complete with whipped cream in a can.

As we continued to chat and share updates from our friends, it became clear that some people had been sending us postcards as gifts. Uthman Box sent us a postcard, which Rockaway Martin had cleverly decorated using the photo card tool within the free Locker Nome app. Sebastian also baked us some Christmas cookies - although instead of sending them, he simply shared a picture of the treats.

As we wrapped up our conversation, we received some exciting news from Sam Davy and Jenna. They sent us a photo of Pato, which appears to be just water and grass. It seemed like they were having a happy holiday season, and we wished them all the best as well as thanking them for sharing their video with us.

And so our conversation came full circle, with food (albeit in a metaphorical sense) playing a central role throughout.
