The Darkness of the Track: A Formula D Experience
As we began our journey at the track, it was clear that something was off. The spotters were in an uproar, shouting and gesturing wildly as they struggled to see through the darkness. It wasn't just a minor issue, either - the lack of lighting made it nearly impossible for anyone to see their car or the other competitors on the track. Our team's spotter, Brewski, warned us that the conditions were treacherous, with a "super slick" surface that made it difficult to maintain traction.
The situation was compounded by the fact that our normally reliable equipment had failed us, leaving us without a vital component. The team's spirits were dampened as we realized that we might not be able to compete in the event after all. However, Formula D's officials took swift action, promising to work through the night to find a solution. With the help of some clever engineering and problem-solving, they managed to cobble together a makeshift fix that would allow us to participate in the competition.
As we waited for the results of our initial run, the team was abuzz with excitement and nerves. Would we be able to overcome our initial struggles and perform well? Only time would tell. Meanwhile, back at the Airbnb accommodations, Schulman was getting into a more... unconventional mindset. The former track driver had taken up modding nerf guns as a hobby, and was busy experimenting with various materials and techniques to create his own unique designs.
As Alberto arrived at the Airbnb, he was greeted by the sound of laughter and good-natured joking. Schulman's latest project, a customized nerf gun filled with "hard stuff," had been a surprise hit, and Alberto couldn't resist joining in on the fun. The two of them spent the rest of the evening engrossed in their own little world, completely oblivious to the drama unfolding outside.
But as the night wore on, it became clear that our team's experience was not without its challenges. A certain someone had gotten a bit too enthusiastic with his modding endeavors, and had ended up hitting their head on something rather unfortunate. As the video came to an abrupt close, it seemed that all was not well - at least, not yet.
In the end, our team emerged victorious, thanks in part to some clever problem-solving and a healthy dose of luck. As we took to the track for our final run, we couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. Would we be able to replicate our success from the day before? Only time would tell.
And so, with that, our Formula D experience came to an end - at least, until next time.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enalright guys welcome to the very last round of FD that I'll be doing this year it is round 4 we are in Dallas Texas for Formula Drift Pro - I did that up day and I'm not really planning on filming today there's not much interesting going on but one thing that I did want to share with you guys before it gets too crazy this video is actually going to be edited and partially filmed by my friend Mike but you guys may already know as Devine media you know film our open house video and makes really rad stuff tell me I appreciate it I'm excited to have you here if this video turns out bad don't thumbs down my video thumbs down his channel which link will be in the description all right but anyway like we did last time I figured we start off kind of going over a couple new things that we've done with the car so I'm gonna got Alberto and we're gonna fill you guys in on some of the new stuff right Alberto it's been a while what do you been up to how's Sharon that's what I want to know all right go over with me some of the stuff I know you and the guys have been working hard getting this thing dialed in and fixing some of the issues that we had before winded up on shore work in your car so we had a couple issues that we encounter in San Louis so we took care of that see whatever I get in Texas starting with overheating issues I added a power steering cooler since you literally boil your power steering fluid and then also oil cooler fans so it keeps your oil touched cooler and we had a power steering cooler we just didn't have a fan right drifting sideways so basically the same thing has a rear mounted radiator that fan has to do all the work so it also need air flow to actually cool so they found pools for the air through the oil cooler and all that work you'll get the idea that after that st. Louis round which was brutally hot pretty much everything that we did is heat related so again talking on the topic of fans you can see tuning with fans as well funny guy funny guy so we mentioned the resistance on your old fans it was pulling a lot more current than ensured it was getting the wire of super hot and the fans weren't blowing as much air as they should so when I haven't got you a new set of fans this is for a lot more air so the car should also keep a lot cooler so one of the biggest issues that I was facing in st. Louis actually had to do with my internal heat I was getting very very hot-headed and not in the typical sense it was literally just getting so hot in the cabin that I was starting to get headaches and it was very very difficult for me to maintain focus so we actually got a different helmet this time that has a system for having cool air blast into it so brittle you want to go over our new a/c system in my race car all right so you you used to have a cool suit cooler which is basically AC but I wasn't going on the side put AC on your AC so now you have AC in your helmet and AC on your shirt so you have that really nice insulated electric motor inside of clothes cold water to your shirt and also heat sink air passes through so I saw him water to a near heat exchanger but in this time like cold a changer and then flows cold air to your helmet then it has this nice little earphone back there and I figured I needed a nice bracket first I want I haven't use some of the titanium that we have left over the shop and made a really nice 218 bracket for it if you guys can see Alberto's bracket he knows that I'm a little bit extra with my titanium love maybe a nice little titanium bracket intake so I modified a little bit to kind of tuck it in between the voltage and the seen have been a permanent solution that way we can always change em later and there's no residue of it so other than that I know that we did some wiring stuff after your supposed wire initiator components were getting hot and when we diagnosis system it was a lot of resisting the ground side since you don't have any grounds attached to the chassis all this developer channel around blocks distribute all the ground to the car and those were actually starting to generate resistance so we end up actually round and round to the chassis and use the shelves as a grounding point and we eliminated all the resistance from the grounding so you should have a better operation of course so while the car was in st. Louis and he had it at a shop and he actually helped me out with some fabricated other cooling stuff I guess you could say so what is this new fancy thing that we have going on right here okay so this is just a water can here that it allows us to bleed the air out of the front of the motor prior to that we didn't have an ability to get the air from the motor which we ran into a problem with ken st. Louis it also dumps the hot water out of the back of the head into the hot water side that then returns to the cooler or the radiator this little guy here is the cold side this is one feeds the motor is also now feeds to the cold side of the turbocharger so we used to have the hot water going to the turbo which is not a good idea but I guess yeah you've just been in hot water as your turbocharger is super heating it and then now we're sending cold water into the turbocharger and then back in the middle but shout out to that gear quality we've got so now it's officially I guess day 1 of FD its qualifying day practice day had me and Chris are going out to the track to do what I think was the smartest move we did last time and is just watching for one practice when I go out there I kind of have a good idea of what I need to do just from watching everybody watching their mistakes watching how they figure out the track it is super easy for me to figure it out all right so I don't know how you guys will be able to hear me the clutch grabs a lot higher so it's kind of weird we're also like paying a lot of attention to my water temps cuz we're pretty sure either my block or my head is cracked when we have that water pump Julia in the last round that probably put a slight crack in one of the water jackets so we just got to be careful with steam soon as a lot of my mind the track I've never really watched here before kind of confusing very fast very intimidating but I feel decent after my first run and I'm gonna work on a couple of minor things just see how I can if do it even even with that cool suit like it is hot in there how is it cool is it cool is it is it hot out here - I can't even speak it's it's really hot really I didn't realize how bad it would have been without that finger my home until I took it out and was instantly just like Boosh I was really struggling so this track is really fast and that third outer zone which is like right after I transition feel super counterintuitive to be full throttle all the way up until there because it just feels like you're gonna go flying off track and it's really hard to like get over that mentally but once I did that once it set me up a lot better for the rest of the track I just noticed as the day went on the car felt like it was getting grippier and grippier maybe more rubber more heat on the track so we're gonna try to loosen up a little bit cuz right now it's just if I lift or hesitate for a second the car is like trying to rip itself right on my hands did you see that last one dude I swear my front end lifted up when I got a throttle fell so cool yeah yeah some of the cars are doing that it looks like crayons I saw a little weird thing about bumper in the rearview I didn't even hit anything you tell me that's from a cone a corn ruin my fender what the heck that's ridiculous so sad but also so happy that was a great run just like that good as new all right how we doing out there everybody thank you and welcome to Texas Motor Speedway playing host to Round four the final round of the link engine management Pro 2 championship this advanced autoparts showdown presented by rain-x the Lone Star's qualifying time Adam is getting ready to do his burnout for his first qualifying run we're gonna see what he's able to do already got some qualifiers on the board yeah you saw him lock him up quite a bit as he went in so unfortunate for him next up big YouTube sensation Adam L Z he has a lot of clicks a lot of views let's see if he can add some carbon-fiber to his diet Adam L Z coming to us from Florida looks decent so far good light it would like seem a little deeper there in the outside zone has a fluid line but could just dial it in a little bit just barely dips that toe end of that back left wheel so Ryan it looked fluid but could definitely get deeper I don't think that challenge is Schulte for the lead well he got that number one qualification with a solid run in st. Louis and he's trying to back it up here wasn't able to put together the campaign that he wanted in the head-to-head matchups but now as we see him in his qualifying run he looks like he's relatively settled but still leaving a little bit of roughness around the edges here some areas on the course where he could have done a little bit better especially that center section we see some drivers carry some big bigger angle through that section of the course and also fill that zone but overall very quick through the course you can see the car seems really dialed in he's just got to clean it up a little bit around the edges and smooth that out and he will definitely be competing for another number one qualification spot I think this time around it's it's a run to build on Adam LZ and his pits with his team as you said Ryan a great showing in st. Louis the Aussie driver they're looking on Paul Kenneth this isn't really casual Thursday it's so 72 for Adam we'll see what would you call Thursday though this is one of those things where like you don't really see this from the outside I don't know if I already told you what happened on that last run so coming into outer zone one all's good all's good then you get to the end of outer zone one the Sun was directly in the line of sight I was kind of nervous I didn't want to go off so I let up a little bit and it kind of screwed up the rest of the course because I didn't have the speed going through like I would have on the other runs but I was told to make sure I put points on the board and it was more poignant more important to finish that run then hope that I was still on track and risk going off and then getting a zero so I don't know did you see that before going into the tyres yeah that Sun was brutal like I mean that's down behind the building I mean it was like shining like directly like on their car when it was like when you were over there it was like beams of light jump on your car but that is that is one of the things that's kind of interesting with FD in qualifying a lot of times people don't get the luck of the draw like that wasn't that bad compared to I think the last round or the rebel Atlanta no I think it was st. Louis with no lights I got like dark and like you couldn't see anything yeah but like your runs you had plenty of light but then like eight guys after you it was like completely dark but then also in Atlanta like the guy before you had a dry run and then your run was a straight downpour like I mean they can't make it perfect every single run for a person but it's just kind of interesting like the stuff that you know yeah or even really think about it I don't think that that runs gonna qualify me if I didn't order to get knocked out well you're a tenth or eleventh and yeah but I don't think it's 72 is gonna make the cutoff I bet the cutoff is gonna be closer to 80 that's my guess but the good thing is it's a solid square we just build on so cut was that it that all you wanted to film alright so I might have made a mistake you have nothing to gain from this dude I mean so Adam just got bumped out of top 16 but he has another qualifying run so he's about 17th right now and I just told Adam I was like hey do you think you could qualify first I think it's possible but see my thing is I don't think I should go to ball like it if I go and try to qualify first that's like going for dead and that's risky you know like I need to just get a solid school you need a good solid scar but I thought if that happens to be the first place what's gonna happen so I told them and I commented on the FT livestream and I think a lot of people agree that if LG qualifies first I'll shave off my beard but leave the must leave leave the old leave the old mustache don't be so I don't make you another deal well another deal so if you don't qualify first but you get first tomorrow same deal okay or how about if I podium you paint us 15 for me for next year I'd rather shave the beard the beard will take less time to grow back you know wrong just imagine and and nothing for you imagine all the primer just to get smashed all the primer yeah for you to just your sponsor dude go put it in and you all hit us up dupont 3 hammy PPG nam i'm a PPG man yeah my car looks like she's home together got the whole crew out here first place qualifier I mean I'll do my best let's see what happens and I need to be in the show and get first place tomorrow well again same deal so at least now you got now we got like a little bit of a wager though because I think LZ was just an omiai no motivation yeah no well but now I do alright guys so the wager has been updated what happened Alberto's growing a moustache so Trevor somehow convinced everyone that a five sympodium tomorrow which would involve me qualifying today everyone's gonna go moustache everybody like this is this thing right there's coming off this one's coming off his axe is coming off yeah Shulman's is coming off Chris is growing one and Andy is growing one as well really long ones of mine firstly you get them glued on alright guys so there has been a little change of events they're calling it for tonight and we're actually gonna finish qualifying tomorrow there's 20 or so drivers that need to qualify but as you guys see there's no lights out here on the track the only thing that's putting out light is a big TV but as far as the drivers really can't see it as judges you really can't see and it looks a lot brighter on campus and actually doesn't per se I think they just called it don't Merc qualifying for tonight so I guess the mustache thing is on hold so you guys are gonna have to stay tuned until tomorrow see if it actually happens or not hashtag Aldi's - we're gonna see what happens come on alright I get I got back and Pat's not happy about this lighting situation so they were gonna make us run with that one light and who said you guys has fallen from the spotters our just throwing a fit so I started after Kelsey's second lap like hey guys skip a little dark comes up with some lights and race director said hey we're working on it should be alright we need to think about it my god hardback no lights no lights no lights three guys in row 0 he could not see their horse so I talked to brewski and he told me he was like yo yo be careful dude it's super super slick you think it's just a light I think what happened was slick the city fell then she got on the bunny trip because you can't see them apart me and the rest of the spotters kind of started Ray's mellow a little bit saying hey this is like not okay like something needs to be done and FB honestly said let's figure it out they took a break they figured it out I was worried another st. Loup situation could happen which luckily we didn't have to lie in that we were good yeah after you stepped up they said you know we're gonna do it tomorrow though my spirits example the the tricky thing is when a situation like this arises I for whatever reason in ft maybe because the cars are gripped up or maybe you can add into this track conditions impact driving so much more like in my normal car is that yeah i doesn't matter if the tracks pulled if the truck's hot if it's wet if it's dry if it's got snow on it and the Fidesz been do like three cars go before me more rubber on the track entirely different car absolutely so the question is are are they and if so how many practice laps are we going to get from what I was told by Formula D which should revert back to our settings you're running the day today you're gonna be fine but they have to give us something because that's unfair but with empty stopping tonight I believe they're gonna step up and do the right thing and give us the laughing morning so unfortunately tonight we don't know if we qualified or not and we'll find out tomorrow we don't know the fate true of the stashes oh hang on it you're in on it he's going chef I look like a look like Mario like Bulldog we could diet like your hair dark you haven't had stache only long hair yeah so I might look more baseball player yeah that's another he's part of the team oh yeah yeah I guess I got the trimmers we're gonna have to get a fresh battery and I'm sure that's gonna be a good blog something everybody's bears in kind of the cool thing is is they have to stay tuned know they have to find out tomorrow yeah got a leg huh all right so this is kind of good news they're not making us run tonight they're running tomorrow the best news about it is that it's not at 6:00 a.m. and it's actually later in afternoon so we get sleep in that's tight so we're gonna rerun qualifying tomorrow if you guys are seeing this video it might be before they rerun qualifying it might not be but basically the drivers that had to drive in the dark and then the people that have another second on they're gonna get another practice lap like a sight lab to seal cherica's and then a qualifying lap so Macross we'll do our best it's not over till it's over yeah you got it so I ain't worried yep meanwhile back at the Airbnb Schulman is over there cowering in fear as I've been modding nerf guns this is my new pastime by the way and I've been experimenting with all these different things that I'm finding throughout the Airbnb screws weights knots glue any sharp objects I can find and then I'm gonna load them into my chamber and when Alberto gets back he's giving me up for a great surprise he's here oh boy alright showman's had enough so we're gonna put all Berto on blast we've got all this nice pizza since when do you eat cereal wale burped up he puts Cruz bottle in what do you call that the thing that's like a needle in that one what's in this one thank you I just packed it full of hard stuff uh no just shoot it see what sound it makes alright so I just hit my head and that didn't go as smoothly as I wanted this is gonna be the end of the video today make sure you give a thumbs up if you appreciated how well mike headed at this I'm excited to have him on board and help him out for this round and hopefully we do all tomorrow and I can compete and actually do some battles because that'd be really fun so anyway thank you guys for watching hope you enjoyed this F D video at the last round in Dallas Texas and I'll see you tomorrowalright guys welcome to the very last round of FD that I'll be doing this year it is round 4 we are in Dallas Texas for Formula Drift Pro - I did that up day and I'm not really planning on filming today there's not much interesting going on but one thing that I did want to share with you guys before it gets too crazy this video is actually going to be edited and partially filmed by my friend Mike but you guys may already know as Devine media you know film our open house video and makes really rad stuff tell me I appreciate it I'm excited to have you here if this video turns out bad don't thumbs down my video thumbs down his channel which link will be in the description all right but anyway like we did last time I figured we start off kind of going over a couple new things that we've done with the car so I'm gonna got Alberto and we're gonna fill you guys in on some of the new stuff right Alberto it's been a while what do you been up to how's Sharon that's what I want to know all right go over with me some of the stuff I know you and the guys have been working hard getting this thing dialed in and fixing some of the issues that we had before winded up on shore work in your car so we had a couple issues that we encounter in San Louis so we took care of that see whatever I get in Texas starting with overheating issues I added a power steering cooler since you literally boil your power steering fluid and then also oil cooler fans so it keeps your oil touched cooler and we had a power steering cooler we just didn't have a fan right drifting sideways so basically the same thing has a rear mounted radiator that fan has to do all the work so it also need air flow to actually cool so they found pools for the air through the oil cooler and all that work you'll get the idea that after that st. Loup situation could happen which luckily we didn't have to lie in that we were good yeah after you stepped up they said you know we're gonna do it tomorrow though my spirits example the the tricky thing is when a situation like this arises I for whatever reason in ft maybe because the cars are gripped up or maybe you can add into this track conditions impact driving so much more like in my normal car is that yeah i doesn't matter if the tracks pulled if the truck's hot if it's wet if it's dry if it's got snow on it and the Fidesz been do like three cars go before me more rubber on the track entirely different car absolutely so the question is are are they and if so how many practice laps are we going to get from what I was told by Formula D which should revert back to our settings you're running the day today you're gonna be fine but they have to give us something because that's unfair but with empty stopping tonight I believe they're gonna step up and do the right thing and give us the laughing morning so unfortunately tonight we don't know if we qualified or not and we'll find out tomorrow we don't know the fate true of the stashes oh hang on it you're in on it he's going chef I look like a look like Mario like Bulldog we could diet like your hair dark you haven't had stache only long hair yeah so I might look more baseball player yeah that's another he's part of the team oh yeah yeah I guess I got the trimmers we're gonna have to get a fresh battery and I'm sure that's gonna be a good blog something everybody's bears in kind of the cool thing is is they have to stay tuned know they have to find out tomorrow yeah got a leg huh all right so this is kind of good news they're not making us run tonight they're running tomorrow the best news about it is that it's not at 6:00 a.m. and it's actually later in afternoon so we get sleep in that's tight so we're gonna rerun qualifying tomorrow if you guys are seeing this video it might be before they rerun qualifying it might not be but basically the drivers that had to drive in the dark and then the people that have another second on they're gonna get another practice lap like a sight lab to seal cherica's and then a qualifying lap so Macross we'll do our best it's not over till it's over yeah you got it so I ain't worried yep meanwhile back at the Airbnb Schulman is over there cowering in fear as I've been modding nerf guns this is my new pastime by the way and I've been experimenting with all these different things that I'm finding throughout the Airbnb screws weights knots glue any sharp objects I can find and then I'm gonna load them into my chamber and when Alberto gets back he's giving me up for a great surprise he's here oh boy alright showman's had enough so we're gonna put all Berto on blast we've got all this nice pizza since when do you eat cereal wale burped up he puts Cruz bottle in what do you call that the thing that's like a needle in that one what's in this one thank you I just packed it full of hard stuff uh no just shoot it see what sound it makes alright so I just hit my head and that didn't go as smoothly as I wanted this is gonna be the end of the video today make sure you give a thumbs up if you appreciated how well mike headed at this I'm excited to have him on board and help him out for this round and hopefully we do all tomorrow and I can compete and actually do some battles because that'd be really fun so anyway thank you guys for watching hope you enjoyed this F D video at the last round in Dallas Texas and I'll see you tomorrow\n"
