The Cult Following of Tesla: Understanding the Fringe Group of Super Fans
As we delve into the world of Tesla and its remarkable impact on the automotive industry, it's hard to ignore the devoted fan base that has grown around the company. But what sets these super fans apart from your average car enthusiast? Why do they love Tesla with such a fervor, often bordering on obsession? To understand this phenomenon, we need to look closer at the man behind the brand, Elon Musk, and his unique approach to leadership.
Elon Musk is undoubtedly one of the most polarizing figures in modern business. With his constant presence in the public eye, from smoking on Joe Rogan's podcast to naming his child X Æ A-12, Musk has become an internet enigma and self-proclaimed billionaire meme lord. His ability to connect with younger generations has been a key factor in Tesla's success, but it also contributes to the extreme loyalty of its super fans. Many Tesla owners adore Elon and have a propensity to radically defend any criticisms thrown towards him or the company.
However, this fringe group of fans is not representative of the average car enthusiast. While most people appreciate various types of cars, from Japanese drift cars to American V8s or Italian Supercars, Tesla super fans seem to have a singular focus on Tesla alone. This phenomenon can be attributed to Elon Musk's unique leadership style and his ability to understand and connect with younger generations. Musk excels at one thing better than any other CEO or billionaire on the planet – creating a sense of excitement and fun around innovation.
Musk's approach to Tesla is characterized by his willingness to take risks and push boundaries. He has been known to tweet about his innovative ideas, from launching a doge coin fundied satellite to the moon (dubbed doge_1) to his space technology exceeding everyone's expectations. This level of enthusiasm and excitement is infectious, drawing in fans who are eager to be part of something revolutionary.
But what drives this extreme loyalty? Some argue that it's Elon Musk himself – a true original who has built a brand around his personality and values. For these super fans, Tesla is not just a car company; it's a way of life. They see the world through Tesla-colored glasses, believing that the company represents the peak of automotive engineering and that no other car company even comes close.
As we explore this phenomenon further, it becomes clear that there are several factors at play. Elon Musk's unique personality and leadership style have created a loyal following that is willing to defend him and his brand against all criticism. However, this also raises questions about the impact of Tesla extremism on the broader car culture. Are these super fans ruining the car culture for everyone else?

The Future of Space Exploration: Tesla's Doge Coin Fundied Satellite
But where will this fascination with Elon Musk and his space exploration plans take us? As it turns out, Musk has been planning something truly extraordinary – a doge coin fundied satellite to be launched into orbit. Dubbed doge_1, this satellite is expected to be the first of its kind, marking a new frontier in private space exploration.
Musk's vision for doge_1 is ambitious: it will serve as a platform for testing and developing new technologies, from advanced communication systems to high-speed data transmission. But what's truly exciting about this project is the prospect of democratizing access to space exploration – making it possible for anyone with the means to join in on the fun.
Of course, there are also concerns about the practicality of doge_1 and its potential impact on the environment. As we move forward into an era of private space exploration, it's essential that we consider the bigger picture and the responsibility that comes with pushing the boundaries of human innovation.
One thing is certain, however: Elon Musk's passion for space exploration is infectious, drawing in fans who are eager to be part of something revolutionary. Whether you're a seasoned space enthusiast or just starting out on your own intergalactic journey, doge_1 represents an exciting new chapter in the history of human spaceflight.
As we conclude our exploration of Tesla super fans and their fascination with Elon Musk's vision for the future, it's clear that there's still much to be learned about the power of human creativity and ingenuity. By embracing innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible, we can unlock new possibilities and create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.

Why is Tesla sucha cult in the first place? How do Tesla enthusiastfit into the car community? And are we at risk of Teslastans ruining the car culture? It's a very inflammatory title this week.Let's see if I can back it up.Thank you to Manscaped forsponsoring today's video.I love Manscaped. Yeah, that's right.I love Manscaped and Idon't care who knows it.I love Manscaped! You know what?Manscaped loves you, becauseafter feedback from millionsof customers across theglobe, they've engineered thenext generation of groinand body hair trimmers.I present to you, Manscaped's all newLawnmower 4.0 waterproof cordless trimmer.I'm not joking, when I say this,it is the best body hair trimmer period. The Lawnmower 4.0 hasadvanced ceramic bladeswith skin safe technology, helping to reduce nicks and cutsand what makes the 4.0better than the 3.0 isit's wireless charging systemwith a battery that lastsup to 90 minutes on a singlecharge, but that's notthe only upgrade the 4.0 now allows you tocustomize your hair length withfour trimmer guard options. So when you're ready to upyour personal hygiene gamehead on over to manscape.com/donut to get20% off plus free international shipping. Now let's get back to me.We can't talk about Teslawithout talking aboutthe man behind it all ElonMusk, whether it's smoking a Jon the Joe Rogan podcast, naming his child X Æ A-12or building his own flame throwerand selling it to the public.Musk is constantly in the public eye.And for good reason,he's an internet enigmaand self-proclaimed billionaire meme lord.I mean, come on, he used hamstersas a unit of measurement for oneof his new factories, which he said was able tohold nearly 50 billion hamsters.RIP to my hamster,Baxter. As far as CEOs gohis personality is unique andthe public has fallen for him.Unfortunately, some people AKA super fansmight fanboy over Elan, a little too much. Many Tesla YouTubersreported losing subscribersafter posting videos thatare critical of the company. This fringe group of fans seemsto find no fault with Musk,Tesla, his hamsters, or anything he does. These Tesla owners adore Elon and havea propensity to radically defendany criticisms throwntowards him or Tesla. To them, Tesla is perfect andis the peak of automotive engineeringand no other car company even comes close. Some people call thisfringe group of fans,Musketeers but whatever you call themthey're not your average car enthusiast. What makes them different?I would argue that mostcar enthusiasts seem tohave a broad appreciation for all cars.Like I'm not saying every car nerdloves Japanese drift cars, American V8s,or Italian Supercars, all the same. But for these Teslasuper fans, Tesla is it.There are a few reasons thatplay into Tesla extremismbut most fingers pointing backto what I mentioned earlier.Elon Musk, Elon does a lotof things well, but he excelsat one thing better thanany other CEO or billionareon the planet, which ishis ability to understandand connect with younger generations. He stands out among the other CEO'sthat he's grouped with, I mean. How many other carcompanies CEOs can you name?Like for me it's William Ford, but that's cause it's Ford.Elon is clearly havingsome fun at his job.For example, he claimsthat next year he'll belaunching a doge coin fundedsatellite to the moon. He's going to call it doge_1.We'll see how that works out.Of course Elon didn't tweet abouthow innovative he is orhow his space technologyis exceeding everyone's expectations. His excitement was focused onsending the "first meme to space".And I have to admit, that's just good marketing. It's this type of attitudethat sets Elon Musk apartand his fans are captivated by it.Musk doesn't need any typeof advanced marketing schemeor press release to sell his cars.Heck, Tesla doesn't even havean active public relations department. And few journalists caneven get a hold of Tesla. Some would say, this is apoor move on Tesla's partbut it hasn't hurt them quite yet.Everything Elon does seemsto get him the exposurehe needs to sell his productsand his fans do a great jobof getting the word outfor better or for worse. No other CEO has connected with theircustomers on the level that Elon has. It's a big reason why somany younger people lookup to him and want to purchase his cars.Of course, it's important to remember thatnot all Tesla owners areElon fanatics or super fans, but it seems his personalityhas had a huge influenceon his car sales and his cult following.Where does this leave other car companies? What do other manufacturers need to doin order to create their own followingand compete with Elon and Tesla? And are there any risks of doing so?I think many car manufacturers wouldfind it beneficial to experimentwith a slightly more informal socialmedia approach, like Elon has.Think about a company like Wendy'stheir Twitter is pretty funny, right? They freely roast people and make jokes. They start beef with otherfast-food restaurants. And because of this,it's hard not to thinkabout Wendy's withoutthinking about their Twitter. Now imagine if Toyotaactively posted cheesysuper memes are jokinglystabbed at Honda on Twitter. The internet would probably love it.And it would probably catch the interestof a younger consumer base.People expect big companies to be formaland play by the rules, but things are changing. And nowadays an edgy Twitteraccount is an easy way toget free exposure and gets a lotof people excited about the brand.Elon is essentially doingthe same thing as Wendy'sbut he's just attachinghis name to Tesla, right?Brands taking on theseinternet personalitieshas been a recent phenomenon and who knowsmaybe some car companiesmight find the samesuccess Tesla and Wendy's have foundby shredding their stuffy reputationsand loosening up a little bit.Hey, if you're liking this episode so fargo ahead and give us a like, it reallyhelps us out and I really appreciate it.So what are some otherways that car manufacturerscan compete with Teslaand grow their following?Marketing aside, I think it's importantfor other car companiesto begin building EVsthat can truly compete with Tesla.Which honestly we'vealready seen a lot of.Elon raise the bar forthe automotive industryturning the idea of EVs froma boring eco-friendly carinto a sexy and desirable vehicle.Tesla even made the lithiumbattery technology availableto their competition inorder to fuel EV innovation.Elon truly wants to see EV succeed. And he wants to see the best car win.Tesla has encouraged manufacturersto set their sights toEV and we've gotten carslike the Porsche Taycanand the Mustang Mach Ebut even with cars like these.Companies just can't seem toachieve the same cult following.Time will tell though, andsoon enough, Tesla will haveplenty of competitors that offer carswith similar or even better performance. With more EVs on the market, Teslamay soon lose some of its hype. And in turn, some of itscult following, or othercompanies may grow theirfollowing through the EV market. There's really no way totell what might happen. There's no doubt an influx of peoplehave entered the carscene because of Tesla.Well, I think they'renot so much car nerdsas they are tech enthusiasts. It makes sense why tech people wouldlove Tesla so much in the first place. This is the first time a car companyhas merged computersand cars at this level. And it's the ultimategadget for tech nerdswhether it's Tesla autopilot,or touchscreen controlunit that controls thewhole car Tesla's arepractically One PLus nine pros on wheels. And with tech beingsuch a massive industry. It was only a matter of time beforetech people were integrated inthe car scene at this level. But the question stillremains are Tesla super fansstill car enthusiasts or are theyjust misunderstood tech enthusiasts? And if they're just tech fans, are they really impactingcar culture negatively?Well, yes and no. Let me explain.People buy Teslas for alot of different reasons. Some car enthusiasts lovethem for their performance. Some people love the cool technology. Some people buy thembecause they appreciatethe relatively eco-friendly technology. And some Elon stans justwant one of his vehicles. There are tons of car enthusiastsand gearheads that ownTeslas and love them. But there are plenty of people who buyTeslas just because of Elon Musk. And I think these are thepeople who aren't necessarilycar enthusiast, but moreso Tesla enthusiastsand a select group ofthese people have turnedinto the infamous superfans that we talked about. This brand loyalty isn't completelyunheard of in the car scene though.Think about like Corvetteboomers, you knowthe old guys that drive Corvettes and meetup with each other tocompare autocross timesand discuss their new balances ina Shakey's pizza parking lot. They love their Corvettes, which is awesomebut they don't really seem tobe interested in any other kind of car. They've earned themselves areputation in the car scene. And I don't think theseguys are much differentthan the tech junkies who love Teslas. They both enjoy theircars. They don't reallyassociate themselves with any other typeof driver and you know what that's okay. Our beloved Corvette boomers don't seem tobe causing much harm, but whatabout our Tesla's super fans? What's their role in the car culture.See Tesla ownership isn't just a brand. It's a culture. They havetheir own Tesla websitesand Tesla meets exclusively for Teslasand really only mingle with one another.Tesla super fans don't seem tobe interested in other cars. And it seems to stem from the beliefthat Teslas are betterthan every other carin the market and are the futureof the automotive industry.Don't get me wrong. I thinkthe technology is amazingbut I think the trendinessand performance of Teslasbreeds a sort of haughtyelitism among some super fans. You've probably seen thisbefore. You're on the freeway.Your windows are rolled downbecause it's warm night. The sun is setting beneath the horizon. And then when everything isgoing right, a Tesla cruisesby you and his licenseplate reads NO-F-N-GAS.A single tear streams down yourface, in visible frustration. You think to yourself,"what kind of personwould spend 50 extradollars on registrationto tell me his electriccar doesn't run on gas?"This is worse than the one I saw yesterdayin the trader Joe's parking lotwhich said, thanks Elon, come on.Do they make you sign a contractthat you have to get a vanity plate whenyou roll it off the lot. What's going on?I know your electric car is electric. That's the whole (beep) point. It's in the name, it's called a Tesla. It implies electricity. There'sno other car owner like this.BMW owners don't like put like"NO BLNKR" on their plates, right? To their credit, I feel like Priusowners did do this in like 2006.So I know it's not just you, Tesla people. What is it, like every timethere's like a trendy environmental car,They have to proclaim it to the world.I did pay for a thicc boi license platesbut once the DMV contacted me,I realized that I could notin good conscious putthat on my daily driver. That would just beembarrassing, couldn't do it.Before we get upset with super fansfor loving Elon Muskand his Tesla so much. It's important to realizewe share some similaritieswith these super fans as well.Sure. Super fans love Elon Muskand buy his cars because of that. But regular car enthusiastshave bought carsbecause of central figures too.Think about Carol Shelby, a guythat we worship on this channel. He was an extremely iconic name in racingand heavily influenced theproduction and sales of cars.Like the Cobra, Mustang, lots of Ford products.People venerated him and boughthis vehicles because of that. You can even arguethat, Takami's characterin "Initial D" ushered in some ofthe popularity of the Toyota 86.In fact, I'd say all ofthe popularity of the AE86.Why else would people spend$15,000 on a 30 year old Toyotathat barely has 150 horsepower?Yes. It's a little weird to compareElon Musk to an anime character. But to some degree, theprinciple still applies. In the end, a true car enthusiastshould appreciate all carsbecause after all they'rean enthusiast, this meansthat V8 guys should beable to have a levelof respect for the Tesla Roadster, and Tesla guys should be ableto appreciate the cultureand the heritage of a PontiacGTO, so on and so forth. All cars have their benefits and drawbacksand Teslas have their drawbacks, just like any other car. It's okay to be passionateabout something. But if that passion is invalidatingor criticizing someoneelse's passion or interestthere's probably an inflated ego involvedor you just worship yourcar a little too much.Let's remember to approachothers with a senseof respect and appreciationfor one another's builds. So next time you see aTesla with a cool wrapor a slam civic that canhardly go over speed bumpsmake sure you give thema wave and a smile.(car revs)(tire screeches)- Haveyou ever dreamed of a worldwhere cars and ideas create vision.Where collectibles are not only collected? They are felt.- Introducing the latestinnovation in cars and collectiblesStocky(bouncy music)- Introducing Stocky, the brand new, high quality car collectiblefor us, car nerds. We wanted to make somethingthe perfect size to displayon your desk, next to your TV,and your dorm room, in the shop, wherever. We explored a ton ofdifferent deformationsbefore finally landing on thissomething that we thinkis the perfect mix of funand style while still stayingtrue to the original car.Speaking of the car, we want to make a tonof different Stockys, but for Stocky 0-0-1,we knew that we had to gowith one of the most iconicand legendary tuner cars ofall time the DC2 Integra type Rand I am so stoked to announce thatwe have partnered with Acura, making this an officiallylicensed Acura product. We're launching this in a bunchof sick different color ways.Everything from OEMfinishes like Phoenix yellowauthentic Honda championshipwhite, Nighthawk black Pearl,to crazy versions like glow inthe dark, primer gray, translucent. We're even going to make agold one like actual gold. We're really stokedwith how it turned out.And we hope that you guys are too. Now's your chance.
