**The Books I Want to Read This October**
I have two books that I'm really excited about reading this month, and they both sound like they're going to be very intense.
The first book is "Sadie" by Courtney Summers. I was not planning to read this book at all, but I just kept hearing more and more about it from friends and online communities, and I couldn't help myself - I had to pick it up. The book is kind of like a true crime podcast, where the main character Sadie's sister has been brutally murdered, and no one knows why she went missing. But here's the twist: Sadie herself doesn't want to be found, because she knows who killed her sister, and she's determined to track them down herself. The book is told through a series of alternating timelines, including transcripts of a popular radio personality's podcast about Sadie's disappearance. I've heard that the audiobook for this one is amazing, because you get to hear the actual podcast episodes being played out in real-time.
I want to warn readers, though, that there are some heavy trigger warnings for this book - it deals with rape, sexual abuse, and drug use, among other things. But despite all of those tough topics, I've heard great things about this book, and I'm excited to dive in and see what all the fuss is about.
The second book I want to read is "Never Ward Awake" by Marisha Pessl. I have to admit, when I got this book, I thought it was just going to be a cute romance novel - but then I looked at the cover, and realized that the main character Patrice's face is actually visible on the cover! It didn't register with me until later, when someone pointed it out to me. The book itself sounds like it's not meant to be spooky or scary in the least - it's just a really odd and offbeat story about a girl who returns to her family's seaside estate to try and figure out what happened to her boyfriend Jim.
The twist here is that Patrice keeps reliving the same few weeks over and over again, like in some kind of Groundhog Day scenario. She tries to piece together what happened to Jim, but every time she thinks she figures it out, something changes and she's back at square one. I'm not entirely sure how the story plays out - the book jacket doesn't give much away - but I'm intrigued by the idea of this kind of time loop narrative.
I've also heard that a lot of people have loved this book, despite some of them saying it's not their cup of tea. So we'll have to see where I fall on the spectrum of liking or hating this book.
In other news, I'm looking forward to reading "Atlanta Jury" later in October - but first things first, let's get back to these two books and dive into them. Do you guys have any spooky season reads lined up? Let me know in the comments!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone and welcome to my Halloween setup you guys know I love changing my background seasonally so here's what you're gonna see for the next month hope you enjoy it okay I am going to be showing you all of the books I'm planning to read this month like last month I'm also participating in another read-a-thon and this read-a-thon the read-a-thon I am participating in this month is the spook 'litham which is happening the third week of October I participated it last year as well and really enjoyed it so I'm not gonna show you every single book I'm planning to read because I do have a set TBR for this book it's odd yeah but next week so stay tuned for that so I'm gonna show you all the books I'm planning to read outside of the spook assange I hope that makes sense so you have two TBR's this month again kind of like last month because I'm participating in a read-a-thon so I'm gonna show you today I think five maybe six books that are planning to read outside of the spook Athan I hope that makes sense first one I'm reading I actually just finished which I was not expecting it this is I'm filming this like the second day of October and I've already finished it it took me two days to read it I had seen saying so forgive me the dust jackets upstairs this is pieces of her bike Karin slaughter this is my first Karin slaughter book that is that adult mystery thriller and I really enjoyed it I've heard Karin slaughter can be quite gory quite intense I didn't feel like this one was that at all I really enjoyed it this one all I'm gonna tell you about it's about a girl named Andy who is a 31-year woman and she learned a lot more about her mother that she never realized and she kind of goes on a path of learning what happened and her mother's past and you know it's all about the notion do you really know someone do you know all about them do you know their deep dark secrets do you know things they've hidden do you know what they've done it's kind of got that effect so I really liked it I was surprised by how much I liked it because I thought it was gonna be a lot darker than it was I don't know I think it is really the fact of mystery like I kept me guessing constantly I loved the journey that took there was a part in it towards kind of a quarter of the way into it I got very confused and I was like what is happening but it all ties up and you understand it being at the push through that but I really liked it so I know Karin slaughter she's written a ton of other books any recognitions by her that you think I will really enjoy please let me know because I have to say I really liked it like this is a big book - it's like 407 pages but every chance I got I wanted to read it because I want to know more what happened cuz it also told from present-day and also goes back to her mother's past so it's got that going for it so yeah because it's very rare I show you a book on my TBR that have already actually read so good really good already I want to read is you by Carolyn Katniss that's right I'm finally gonna bubble down and read this I have already started the audiobook because a ton of you guys have told me the audiobook is amazing and it's creepy and you're a thousand percent correct so if you haven't heard of you I'm sure you've had it's a very popular mystery thriller now only that it's being adapted or it already is adapted to a lifetime show which I cast in the first episode up because like it correlated where it was with the book and I have to say I'm re really liking the show but you is told from the perspective of a stalker named Joe so Joe works at a bookstore and then he meets a customer named back and he becomes obsessed with her would be a vast understatement honestly and he like stalks her he learns everything about her he does a lot of things murders kidnappings just really scary intense stuff Joe does and what's interesting is that this book is told from the perspective of Joe so throughout the entirety of this book and especially the audiobook it ups the root Factory more he's like a much you walk into the store and why are you doing this so it feels like he's talking to you but he's really talking to back the main character but it's just still so insanely creepy like I I'm taking my time with agent into it so far on the audiobook why's it is 400 pages so it's gonna take me a lot but I'm really enjoying it it's definitely freaking me out but I could see why it's gotten all the hype like is there it's creepy but it's good hey doctor like a not so scary no but like fun scary and that is city of ghosts by Victoria Schwab is a middle grade series by her I think it's the first book I don't know how many there's going to be this is all about a girl named Cassidy whose life is full of ghosts like her parents are ghost hunters and they you know travel out to a hunt ghosts and things like that and then her parents land at get hosting a TV show about the world's most haunted places the family heads off to Edinburgh Scotland I wanted not gonna to take place in Scotland that's awesome and Cass meets a girl who shares her gift which I what's her gift her gift oh I think she can see ghosts and her best friend is a ghost she can pull back the veil that separates the living from the dead and enter the world of spirits interesting so I think it's all about that I don't know much about it's a middle grade I'm expecting to it'd be spooky but not like oh really scary but I just love it Tori Schwab and I'll just create anything she writes because I love her books so much and I mean this is a perfect Halloween read like how could I not read this this was the next book I want to read a saukerl girls bike Larry LeGrande me I don't have my car quite yet but this is a y8 fantasy series which by the way when I first saw the cover for this I was enamored and then I read the script I was enamored and for some odd reason I thought it was about vampires I don't know why I think the cover it looks like the girl in the cover maybe has like vampire teeth and I thought vampires sadly it is not like I just want another good vampire series like am I the only one that feels that way like I kind of miss him oh but it's not about vampires I don't know why she's got this book I think the way they drew me in was I thought it was obvious I was like showed oh but this is like about an island I think and we have these girls that keep disappearing and these girls said take vengeance I don't know much about it I forgive me on that but it sounds like just a spooky intense book and I want to read it could be totally wrong synopsis forgive me if not but it's kind of vaguely like that so we're just gonna go with it the last two books are also Wyatt books I did not think I was reading this much way this month but that's okay um the first one is sadie by Courtney summers I was not planning to read this book and then I just kept hearing more and more and more about it and I was like I have to read it this book I'm also planning to listen on audiobook so the chances of me listening to audiobooks a month that's kind of uh but we'll have to see how it goes hopefully I'll just fly through them both this one is about it's like told also and kind of different alternating timelines so we have Sadie and Sadie goes missing missing after her younger sister is brutally murdered and no one knows why she's going missing but Sadie is actually going after the person who killed her sister because she knows who it is and everyone's trying to figure out where Sadie and then a popular radio personality Wes McCrae receives a desperate phone call imploring him to try to find Sadie and first he's not interested into it and then he keeps hearing more about it and he decides to start a podcast about it or like put it on his podcast and so basically this book is told like alternating to transcripts of the podcast they're trying to find Sadie and also Sadie trying to hunt down the killer of her sister so I've heard that audiobook for this one is amazing because you actually get to hear the podcast which I love it's also being compared to like the podcast serial which I love first season was amazing still have most of them on the first cup of the season through yeah or well but either way it sounds amazing sounds like it's going to be a very intense book I've heard there's a lot of trigger warnings in this book for like rape sexual abuse drug use a lot of things like that so I just want to share that with you before even reading it that I know there are children's folk but I'm excited to read it it's probably gonna scare the crap out of me because I'm scared easily book I want to read it's never Ward awake by Marisha pestles oh I'm going off another tangent here when I got this book you know I thought oh mountains beautiful and then literally the other day I was looking at it and I was like oh yeah that's a face why am I so stupid they did not realize that it was a face like it's so clearly visible I'm sorry looking at the mater because I'm like how can I not see that it's a face um oh I feel so stupid so this book is I've heard it's like not spooky but it's kind of just very odd it's about Patrice who is returned to wincroft the seaside estate where they spent so many nights sharing secrets crushes and plans to change the world hoping she'll get to the bottom of the dirt questions gnawing at her about Jim's death so the so Jim died I was actually her boyfriend and um so she goes back and she tries to figure out what happens and I think what basically happens is they it's hard to explain I have heard the synopsises not tell you much but I've heard it's kind of like a time loop like a kind of Groundhog Day where they kept to keep reliving seem that maybe Jim's death over and over again they learn more about her or they figure out the answers I'm not sure about that because it doesn't really say on the book jacket that that's about so I'm interested for that because a lot of people have really not liked this book but a lot of who also gave it a 5 out 5 out of 5 stars so I'm interested to see where I'm gonna fall out in the spectrum of liking or maybe hating this book I don't know we'll have to see books I'm planning to read for October like I said there's a lot more Atlanta jury but you have to wait to see what my suit Kazan team you are hold that will be up next week for sure if you're a plane to read any of these books or have also read them I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on that days let me know down in the comments what books you're ready for October a lot of spooky ones a lot of I don't know not spooky ones I'd love to hear if you enjoy it's video be sure to give it a thumbs up hit subscribe and I will see you guys at my next one byehello everyone and welcome to my Halloween setup you guys know I love changing my background
