750HP BMW M4 G82 is WAY TOO MUCH for the RING! _ NURBURGRING REVIEW

The Thrill of Driving a Rear-Wheel Drive Car: A Review of the BMW M4 GTS

As I stepped out onto the track, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation. My car for the day was the BMW M4 GTS, a rear-wheel drive beast that promised to deliver adrenaline-fueled driving experiences. As I settled into the driver's seat, I felt a slight understeer, which my co-driver Barry pointed out as we began our lap around the track. "It's a bit more understeery than expected," he said with a chuckle, "but it's still a great handling car."

Despite the initial reservations, the M4 GTS quickly won me over with its exceptional grip and agility. As we pushed the car to its limits, I was impressed by its ability to carve through corners with ease. The ride was smooth, but I couldn't help feeling that the car was just a bit too eager to rotate, especially over bumps. This minor quirk aside, the M4 GTS felt like a completely different driving experience from more conventional cars.

Compared to my usual manual-equipped vehicles or even rear-wheel drive only cars, the M4 GTS stood out for its incredible performance and handling. As we accelerated through the straights, I was struck by the car's sheer speed – it was like having a rocket ship under the hood. The acceleration was so rapid that I found myself struggling to maintain control in certain situations, which added an extra layer of excitement to the driving experience.

One of the most striking aspects of the M4 GTS was its exceptional gearbox tune. Barry explained that this was due to the combination of the factory's XHP tune and the addition of a bespoke build box. The result was a snappier, more engaging gearbox that felt like a perfect complement to the car's already impressive performance.

As we continued our laps around the track, I began to appreciate the nuances of driving the M4 GTS. While it was undoubtedly quick and agile, the car also required a certain level of finesse and control to fully exploit its potential. The rear-wheel drive layout demanded constant attention from the driver, who needed to be constantly aware of the car's position on the track.

Despite some minor issues with brake wear and tire choice, I was thoroughly impressed by the M4 GTS. Its exceptional performance, handling, and driving experience made it a joy to drive, even if it did require a bit more attention than some of my other cars. Overall, I think the BMW M4 GTS is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a thrilling driving experience – as long as they're prepared to put in the effort to get the most out of this incredible machine.

As we approached the final sector of our track time, I could feel myself getting more and more into the zone. The car was so fast that it felt almost impossible to manage at times, but that was all part of its charm. With each lap, I found myself feeling more and more comfortable with the M4 GTS's unique personality – a bit quirky, perhaps, but ultimately incredibly rewarding to drive.

Of course, no track day is complete without some minor mishaps. In this case, we experienced a few close calls with yellow flags and warning lights, which forced us to take it easy for a moment or two. But even these interruptions couldn't dampen my enthusiasm for the M4 GTS – after all, there's something special about driving a car that truly feels alive.

As we finished up our track time and began to wrap up the day's activities, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to drive such an incredible machine. The BMW M4 GTS was truly a thrill ride from start to finish – one that left me eager to get back behind the wheel and experience its unique blend of performance and handling once again.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys welcome to Auto top funnel my name is hoop and welcome to this ring review we are here today with the BMW M4 competition the g82 by evolve Automotive the guys came all the way from the UK they were here this whole week to to be together with us have a meet with us and also to take out this car at the ring so this car as you can see individual mint green or in German mint green a very cool color very rare actually and also with the crazy spec on the interior with the carbon bucket seats and the green and blue so this car is running 740 horsepower has a partially built motor and a fully built box uh car also has some software tweaks and changes to be you know up to par with all the high horsepower cars out there today um specifically what we have today which is very interesting is that the car sits on Motown one-way suspension so this is a more Tech orientated setup and we have arranged for today for the car to sit on proxies r08r semi-sleaks why because we noticed the last time that we did the M3 the G80 from Martin on the Pilot Sport force that the car is so heavy that the tire really yeah if you really want to push the car it can't really cope with the temperatures with the waiter Setter so we thought how can we solve that and that is by putting on a semi-slick tire what else is there yeah a lot of carbon Parts as you can see we have the carbon fiber hood we have the CSL style front grille the carbon side bits and the carbon intake yellow drls as you can see yeah the spec wise also carbon ceramic so those are going to be very important for the track use you're really gonna need those because the steel brakes on these cars are really not up to par with Track Performance and the section that of course ride and drive UK car we have uh yeah the really cool blue and and neon green interior the full Carbon Trim also evolves their own battle shifters on their full metal um yeah that's basically it so I'm not going to show you under the hood because there's a lot of little Parts there but like I said you can go watch the review from Max he will tell you a lot more about all those details that are there um also sound wise this car has Decat downpipes and a different midby from Super Sprint if I'm not mistaken so it sounds really throaty and also for the people who know the G Series they've noticed the tail lights these are CSL till lights very cool OEM BMW with the really cool like really cool pattern in there and also you can see the shape of the CSL tail light is much smoother than regular M4 and M3 so that's basically it I'm gonna take the car out on track now and you guys will go with me and see what this piece of a car is going to be capable of so guys we're about to go out on track I'm here with Barry from evolve Automotive he's my passenger for this ride um might scare him a little we will see so we're gonna put the car uh in the setup mode and uh for I need to double check it really quick for the M2 we're gonna be everything basically in sport or Sport Plus and the DSC is going to be on MDM with the four wheel drive in sport um I'm gonna go forget that I need to use the right pool here because we're right on drive at the moment it's yeah there it goes and then we're gonna press the M2 button twice for confirmation so we just did a warm-up lap how was it buried a warm-up left pretty warm yeah no so we just did a quick warm-up left to get the the toyos going we lowered the pressures because they got really hot really quick so I'm very curious what it's going to do now the car rubs a bit on the rear but you will hear that in a second see so it's no joke the 700 plus horsepower and you will hear here is gonna rub on the rear a little but that's part of it a bit more loose now because the braces are a bit lower feels a bit more direct actually are we having to manage here again all that torque because this is a what is it almost 1800 kgs right we said yeah so it's almost two tons this car with 740 50-ish horsepower probably like 800 plus newton meters of torque so it's a bit of a handful power wise but luckily this car is uh from Factory on carbon Ceramics because otherwise we wouldn't be having such a great time I can tell you that you can hear the tire squeal the way under all that all that weight We're Not Gonna attack the curbs too much with this car because I don't want to ruin the fender liners too much although they are well basically gone already kinda sorry about that Imran or you can feel you can feel all that power so last week I drove Martine stock M3 which was on ASD lowering springs the sister company of moton and this is now on the motor on one way this car has a bit more of a setup for comfort you can feel that also but without due respect it's not bad for a car that is set up for Street and come for use it actually handles yeah I would say fairly well the only thing is the rubbing of course which is a bit of a downside yo and you carry serious speeds with with this car there's it's no joke oh yeah get out of the thank you you can hear the tire not having the greatest time of his life also again through the Foxhole we're gonna take it relatively easy very very relatively easy it's easy yeah normally you could go flat through here but I don't want to do that because yeah you can hear it already we are going to kiss the groups I don't know the car is for a car that is this heavy not bad at all it's quite impressive it also it feels very different in my opinion compared to when we're talking about the rear wheel drive only variants of the N4 and the M3 it is the steering feel is different the balance of the car in general is quite different in my opinion this car tends to rotate a bit less easy I think that is the right word to say where those variants they really try to rotate the rear which on track in my opinion is a nice thing this car has a bit more of a push from the rear so it's a bit more I think understeery is the right words thank you although you might not feel like it better right now but it is a little understeering dude this guy some room because again that is never going to take take a good look at your surroundings there's always people that are faster than you although you might think not brakes are also holding up very well that's also BMW does a great job with their with their carbon Ceramics they're really really good I never had a moment where I'm like oh that's sketchy so what do you think Barry this is very very impressive right it's so like because without your respect compared to most cars here it's a boat this thing these are fake cars and it falls like a tree just it's Relentless yeah it keeps on going like you're gonna eat up this GTD 4S like there's no tomorrow there's no point in doing that right now but you'll get the ID thank you I really really like the gearbox tune also because this is a build box it feels a bit snappier than when they have xhp only it's the combination of the two that really makes this really nice and crisp has a bit more character to it than yeah when you normally do an xhp tune on one of these ZF gearboxes and have a great time we're gonna give this guy a break through the car oh well okay so we're we take it a little easier because we don't wanna yeah about that it was like nothing else it's a bit of Fender lining on the right rear letting go but it's okay we can live with that I hope you don't hear it too much but it should be okay the car also when it comes over bumps it is a bit lucious you can feel when you go over about the car really tries to rotate on you and we have a yellow flag here so we're gonna have to take it easy here for uh for for a minute overall it feels very very different this compared to a manual compared to a rear wheel drive only I don't think it is uh said enough by Automotive press how big the difference is especially driving wise like in in stats and figures on paper it all makes sense like it should be the same car it should act the same but when you put it out on track and also on the road in my opinion it is very different it's a very different feel it is a in many ways it's a very different car and I'm not saying that one or one or the other is better it's just yeah whatever your preference goes to my preference goes to something that is a bit more Nimble and rear wheel drive but like pulling out of a corner like that I'm sorry but you can't do that with the rear-wheel drive only car impossible this thing definitely thank you it eats up the Straits like there's no tomorrow I'm gonna jump a little some sort of warning coming up oh yeah that's not a range is never a factor in these cars and we have another yellow so we're gonna have to take it easy again unfortunately in the last sector it is a bit of a handful I have to say it is because it's it's so fast that's the thing this car is stupidly fast you move at a pace which is up there with some of the fastest cars you can buy these days and then in a situation like this full-on track where it's all all hands on deck managing the car in every corner and especially now also with the rear rubbing we have to be a little careful but it's a bit of a workout I'm sweating a little it's warm in here too because yeah we can turn off the a or turn on the AC all the way oh unfortunately the last sector we have a yellow now so we can't do much about that oh behaves pretty well in the Summers I do feel like that these semis are uh sidewall wise a bit too soft for the car you so you can really feel that this semi is really yeah it's getting pushed over the edge in that sense so disciple of the tire doesn't really hold up to the weight of the car you can yeah that exactly we're gonna send it out of the last corner it is ridiculously fat it's stupid fast is what it is it really is stupid fast I think with a bit of tweaking uh some some harder Springs this thing will really it will do well on track it really would I think also the Tire Choice is not ideal but we had to make a little compromise because we were all a bit tired on on time but yeah good package good package by evolve in general I really like this car many thanks to them thanks to you Barry thanks to Imran thanks to evolve automotive and uh see you next time and see you at the next ring for you guys bye byehi guys welcome to Auto top funnel my name is hoop and welcome to this ring review we are here today with the BMW M4 competition the g82 by evolve Automotive the guys came all the way from the UK
