Where Is My Porsche 911 GT3

The Waiting Game: A Porsche GT3 Production Delayed by Parts Supply Issues

Apparently, it all comes down to a parts supply issue which so many manufacturers are struggling with. In my case, it's two specific parts on my Porsche GT3 that are causing the delay. I'll reveal what they are now, but don't get too excited – they're not exactly exciting options.

The first thing is carbon ceramic brakes. When I initially put a deposit down on my car back in March, carbon ceramics were not available to be optioned on a GT3 because of the supply issue. However, when we came to lock in the spec of my car in June, they were back available again. So, I decided to go for it and add the carbon ceramics to my order. Unfortunately, they're not easy to get hold of, which is causing the delay in my car's production. My car is currently on the factory line with no brakes available to be fitted.

This is not an isolated incident; Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire had to retrofit OEM carbon ceramic brakes to his 718 Spider because Porsche has been struggling to get hold of them for over a year now. It's become a common problem, and I'm not alone in facing this issue. As a result, my GT3 is currently stuck in production limbo, with no estimated completion date to speak of.

The second part of the delay is related to the interior and pertains to the Bose sound system. The optional upgraded sound system for the GT3 can't be fitted without the Burmester sound system, which is sometimes available on other 911 models. However, the GT3 can only have one or the other – standard or Bose. Many manufacturers are struggling with sound system upgrades and fitting them to the car, so I'm not sure what to say about that. Both of these issues are holding up the production of my car, and it's frustrating to be stuck in limbo.

I've already had two previous completion dates miss their mark – one in October and another at the beginning of November. It's anyone's guess when this new date will actually happen. I'm trying not to get too worked up about it, but false hope can be a powerful thing. If only Porsche had known they wouldn't have the carbon ceramics, why start building my car? Despite the delay, I still feel incredibly fortunate to be getting a GT3 in the first place.

It's just that false hope – expecting my car to turn up at some point soon – makes it all the more disappointing when it doesn't. But even with this delay, I'm not spoiling or ungrateful. I've got a Porsche GT3 coming, which is an incredibly special thing. It's just that I'd rather have it now than wait for what feels like an eternity.

The waiting game is a tough one to play, but I'll try to make the most of it. I'm using this time to save up more money and maybe even splurge on some extras – because when my GT3 finally arrives, I want it to be worth it. I know that when I collect my car, its carbon ceramics will make all the difference. The added grip and performance will be a game-changer. But until then, I'm stuck in limbo, waiting for what feels like forever.

On a more positive note, I've got other exciting things on the horizon – including an upcoming trip to LA with Tony. If you're new here, please subscribe and turn on notifications because we have some hilarious but also epic videos lined up for that trip. It's going to be very special, and Porsche action is definitely on the agenda. The future is looking bright and strong for STG, even if my GT3 might not arrive just yet.
