The Cannabis Electronics Show: A Growing Industry with a Niche Market
The cannabis industry has been around for a while, existing mostly in an underground market. However, with growing mainstream recognition, it's becoming increasingly important to understand the market and target audience. One of the key players in this industry is Cloudiest Night, a company that specializes in vaporizers.
According to Cloudiest Night, their target audience is anyone who appreciates healthy consumption options, particularly those who are new to vaping or casual users. This demographic is widespread, with markets in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe being particularly popular. The company notes that while consumer electronics may not be a traditional market for cannabis products, there is a growing demand for healthier alternatives.
A significant part of Cloudiest Night's business strategy involves participating in trade shows and events related to the cannabis industry. These shows provide an opportunity for the company to connect with potential customers, competitors, and other industry players. By establishing relationships and demonstrating their products, Cloudiest Night aims to build trust with consumers and establish a strong reputation in the market.
One of the company's flagship products is Hydrology Nine, which has been available on the market for about half a year. Currently, it can be found in approximately 1,000 retail locations across the United States. Cloudiest Night plans to continue innovating and releasing new products in the coming year, with a focus on creating something truly unique and groundbreaking.
To achieve this goal, the company is committed to continuous product development and research. According to Cloudiest Night, having innovative products is crucial for attracting attention and building brand equity. The company aims to make a significant impact in the industry by addressing existing voids or gaps that their competitors have not yet filled.
As the cannabis industry continues to grow and evolve, companies like Cloudiest Night are well-positioned to capitalize on this trend. With a focus on quality products, effective marketing strategies, and strategic partnerships, Cloudiest Night is poised for success in the years to come.
In terms of future plans, Cloudiest Night's CEO mentioned that they will continue to innovate and release new products in 2018. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome back Digital Trends has you covered with extension extension extension extensive coverage right here at CES I tell you what day two has already begun and it is a little bit brutal already because there's so much technology to cover and we're actually going to dip into it a very new arena for Digital Trends and for CES in itself joining me at the table Greg nibbler hi Greg hello and at the table joining him next to him we've got Richard Wong the CEO of cloudiest 9 which is all about weed technology hi Richard hi thank you for having you that's ok I can't say extensive so we're going really great live on YouTube so hello there if you've got comments please let yourself known Haider Andrew who's already gonna be right back but let's have a chat about your hydraulic hydrology 9 vaporizer yeah yeah so cobby's 9 is a startup in the vaporizer space so we launched our first product of hydrology 9 in May of 2017 and you know we were it's essentially a fusion of water pipe and a vaporizer so you can see as a modern version of a water pipe and you know we actually came from the consumer electronic side of things and then we were looking in to the cannabis space from the outside we've seen a lot of the companies you know are racing to create the smallest most portable vaporizer so you know we realized that the whole water that that basically is a modernized version of a pipe and so we see that the whole water pipe segment is underserved so you know as our first product we want to create a product ish of the differentiator so we decided to tackle kind of the modernized version and water pipe hopefully people will remember us and you know create some you know you know right out of it I want to I think that evolution of you know combining technology with especially this sector is pretty interesting I'd love to talk about that but taking a look at your product right now so again this is called the hydrology 9ya Jolla shine so tell us about it like what sets it apart what makes it different than the competitors products okay so like I said it's a water pipe type of experience so on the mouthpiece side usually the vaporizer is it's kind of like a little straw but we made it so the mouthpiece is more of a class so it's kind of that whole water pipe experience that you have and you know we made it so that it's it's somewhat leak proof so you can actually take it around it'd be portable and and also the the whole makeup the aesthetic design of the product was geared to make sure that it's modernized and it doesn't you know it has that futuristic look to it and we actually designed something a little bit different on the bottom it's a well it's more for our industry but it's a little stir that stirs the heating chamber so that it helps evenly distribute the heat while the stuff is in there getting cooked seems like it would wouldn't look out of place in a kitchen because it almost look like a pepper grinder which is not handy I'm talk about the technology and the design because this is something that's like you said only recently really been on the market less than a year now yeah design the design you know you know we actually had a lot of hurdles go into the space there's an a lot of the product that does this water integrated into the device because inherently you want to have the vapor or the air going through the whole thing but you also need the water there without it leaking out those are two kind of conflict in concept because you know how do you prevent water from leaking water vapor going in so you know it took us a while and it finally clicked at at one point we did a lot of trial and error so it was a new problem that we have to tackle just like any industry when you're trying to create something new you have a new problem for lack of a better word there's not a lot of things you can copy and so you know we so it took us a while to get the design finish but because there's some added benefit to that though because we're not kind of seeing any other product it allows us to create a product that is unique in nature you know inherently unique because interns the aesthetic because we were we're not looking at any reference so in order to solve the problem it almost have to look like this so it'd be creates that different look that people are not used to which is being a good way yeah I think that's an interesting point I mean this is such a new a new realm of Technology like as far as what's going on it feel like it's just in the last few years that this has happens you know where people are starting to invent the technological side of advancing advancing banks and pipes basically so you know you're kind of in like this Wild West right era where you know you're at the forefront of this yeah where this of this brand new technology and I was curious about this and actually our emerging tech editor Drew PRNDL was talking about this you know CES has an area for all kinds of technologies there's pretty much anything you can think of and yet the fact that there's hundreds of millions of dollars really going into marijuana and and and this kind of technology vaporizing technology but there's not a lot of presence here at CES or for that stuff and these are inventors just like everybody else just like you you know with really innovative products why is it why do you think it's not being represented quite as much well the short answer to daya CES is a very mainstream trade show and the cannabis industry is not you know it's not really there yet just be more specific you know the purpose of exhibitor coming from the exhibitor point of view is to acquire new customer you know maybe to get some meetings done you know media coverages but if you look at it from the customer acquisition side but you're not gonna see Walmart Amazon Best Buy Target carrying or embracing the cannabis tech anytime soon and you know rightfully so you know there's social stigma they have to deal with even if 10% of people as offended they can have a problem and you know and also of course to being so big there's potential legal ramifications so you know you know you look at the small or mid-sized business like distributors or retailers that want to take advantage of it you know they're not you know honestly they're not set up for it you know to be just take a very surface level example they will probably need a new bank account their credit card processor it wouldn't work they will have problem with their existing line of credit so you know essentially ignore to participate in the industry you almost have to have a separate entity right and then so that means that at this trade show there's just not gonna be a lot of trigger ready customers so without the customer that defeats you know half the purpose now the media side you guys could probably speak for it more I mean you guys are cool but there's gonna be a lot of media outlet that still has reservation on covering these technology so we're not gonna get the best result you know you probably have fifty percent so without media without customer there's not a whole lot of meeting to be done here so I mean that you know that's kind of a customer that's basically it's hard for us to justify the ROI you know for for for participating that does make sense then actually from the business side so what you need is a cannabis electronics show that's and then that's what that brings it to another point because the cannabis industry has existed for so long in kind of this underground kind of type of tone so all orders survive he has developed a very extensive network of trade show of his own so you know people are used to participating those trade shows so you know there's competitors as well so yeah talk about the market not being mainstream or who is your target market and where the like where are the markets that are most popular for your products even though it's not mainstream being a you know business perspective but you know there's a disconnect between consumer I think and the actual overall environment because I think it is a mainstream product to a degree to to consumer already is getting more and more so so I mean our target audience being a customer persona perspective you know it could be anybody you know anybody who appreciate this tech who wants more healthy consumption options and especially new people who were casual users right that doesn't really want to have a big old ball in their house you know so you know these are the type of customers that that we really race you know vaporizer in general as far as the target market it's it's it's really all over the world you know United States of course Canada Australia are all really really big markets you know also in Europe as well so I mean there's there's a it's actually the the customer aspect is actually pretty mainstream it's just that because of the restrictions in our industry it's hard for us to integrate with you know the mainstream consumer electronics tank we are live at the moment and like who's tuning in for day two well done of the CES coverage on YouTube says you know what if you do offer any free samples he will give you a high rating well hope you understand from whoa to go so what's on the what's on the horizon for cloudiest night like where do you see this going I mean obviously you have this product which is amazing anything in the futures we can look forward to as far as on the technics aspect of it so I mean hydrology now was it has been alpha on the market on the market for about half a year it's currently in about a thousand retail locations and so you know we we want to definitely ride momentum and we have found that in this industry the key thing is just like any industry but more so here for some reason is that the product development or the product release or having innovate a new product is it's very important you know it gets you coverages you know it gets you exposure and also it helps brand out build up brand equity so having good innovative product that the industry hasn't seen is it's definitely our top agenda in terms of the company and you know going into 2018 we're hoping to you know you know break more grounds to do something different you know our idea has always been you know really dissecting the the industry and seeing where is a void that we could fill and you know so that's we're gonna try to have a couple of new products out this year because your company is only six months old you was saying it is that's a little baby it is what's the game plan for the next 2018 for you you're next so new products new products definitely you know consolidating almost like you're making sure our presence is here because this industry is is you know it's booming so there's a lot of company that that comes in and goes relatively quickly so the consumer knows you know in order for for a company to establish trust with the consumers you know you got to be able to prove yourself you know multiple times so that's we're gonna try to do continue to come out with good products you know with good review is that customer want so hopefully that's gonna that's gonna help people remember us looks like you've got a budding product right there I do wish you all the best if anyone wants to learn more about the hydraulic nine is it hydrology night hydrology nine I had my nights and I didn't get it hydrology nine where can people find out more about your tech vaporizer uh your obviously can Google you know Carly's night or you could just go to our website cloudiest night calm at sea out oh you I can't stop us and then number nine yeah rigid thank you very much for joining us here at digital trends I hope you have a great CES thank you thank you for having here yep we've got plenty more coming up so don't go anywherewelcome back Digital Trends has you covered with extension extension extension extensive coverage right here at CES I tell you what day two has already begun and it is a little bit brutal already because there's so much technology to cover and we're actually going to dip into it
