**Samsung Galaxy S9+ Review: An Upgrade Worth Considering?**
As we compared the Samsung Galaxy S8+ to its successor, the S9+, it becomes apparent that while the design may not have changed drastically, there are numerous improvements under the hood. The most noticeable difference is in the camera department. With the S9+, we now have a dual-camera setup with variable aperture, which offers more flexibility and better low-light performance. However, this new feature comes at the cost of a higher price point.
The camera's performance is undoubtedly one of the standout features of the S9+. The camera tuning is done by AKG, which has resulted in 1.4 times louder speakers compared to the S8+, and they also support Dolby Atmos. This means that when you switch on Dolby Atmos, you can expect a much more immersive experience. Additionally, the new camera app provides improved manual controls, allowing users to adjust settings such as exposure compensation, ISO, and focus mode.
In terms of design, while the S9+ does not stray far from its predecessor, there are some notable improvements. The fingerprint scanner is now located below the cameras, making it more accessible than before. Samsung has also introduced a new feature called Intelligent Scan, which uses a combination of iris scanning and facial recognition to provide additional security.
Another unique feature of the S9+ is AR Emoji, Samsung's answer to Apple's Animoji. This technology creates a 3D avatar of yourself using the front-facing camera, mapping 100 facial features to give you realistic expressions on your AR Emoji. While the initial test did not produce an exact replica of myself, it shows promise and could be a fun way to enhance mobile communication.
Both devices come with Samsung's AI system, Bixby, which can be launched using the dedicated button. There are some improvements in Bixby, especially in terms of Bixby Vision, which includes live translate and other features such as being able to point at food to receive information about it.
When it comes to batteries, both devices have the same 3500mAh battery size. However, with the S9+, we now have newer processors, which should make them more efficient. Fast charging and fast wireless charging are available on both devices, making it easy to top up your battery quickly.
**Pricing and Availability**
The pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is higher than its predecessor, the S8+. This is due to the new features and improved performance, such as the dual camera setup and newer processors. However, for those who want the latest technology, the S9+ is worth considering. The S8+, on the other hand, can be purchased at a lower price point, making it an attractive option for those on a budget.
**Is it Worth Upgrading from the S8+ to the S9+?**
The decision to upgrade from the S8+ to the S9+ depends on individual needs and preferences. If you want all the latest features, including the variable aperture camera, then the S9+ is the better choice. However, if you're happy with your S8+ and it's still meeting your needs, there's no compelling reason to upgrade. Additionally, since the S9+ will be released later this year, those who want a more affordable option can wait for the S8+ price drop.
**Conclusion**
The Samsung Galaxy S9+ is an impressive device that offers numerous improvements over its predecessor. While it may not revolutionize the smartphone market, it does bring some exciting features and capabilities to the table. With its variable aperture camera, improved performance, and new features like AR Emoji and Intelligent Scan, the S9+ is definitely worth considering for those who want the latest technology.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- What's up YouTube,Saf here on SuperSaf TVand in this video, we'regoing to be lookingat the key differencesbetween the Samsung Galaxy S8+versus the S9+, whichhas just been announced. So, if you currently havean S8+ and you're thinkingof upgrading, or if you're in the marketfor a new smartphone and you're not surewhich one of these togo for, then hopefullythis comparison should help you out. But, first thing's first,in terms of the buildand design at least, the S9+is definitely an incrementalupgrade to the S8+.We've still got metal framewith curved glass panelson the front and back.In my opinion, thesestill look really good, and the S8+ was one ofthe best-looking devicesof last year anyway.I get some people mayhave wanted to see a bitof a refresh design, but I'm assumingthat's going to come next year. Now something you're going toexperience with both devicesare fingerprints, so Idefinitely recommend picking upa skin from our channel sponsor, dbrand. You can order skinsfor your S8+ as well asyour S9+ right away, andI'll be leaving a linkto them in the description below. Now both devices are IP68water and dust resistant, and both of them also feelvery, very similar in the hand. The S9+ is slightly heavierand it's also slightly thicker, but it's slightly shortercompared to the S8+,and that is because it hasslightly smaller bezels. Now, based on early, leaked renders,it looked like the S9+ might behaving slightly thickerbezels compared to the S8+,but thankfully, this is not the caseand we have smaller bezelsthan the small bezels we already had.Now the display size isthe same on both of these,6.2 inches, QuadHD, Super AMOLED,with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Now both of these aresome of the best displaysin the market right now, andyou really cannot go wrongwith either of these. But with the S9+, Samsunghave said that the blackis actually deeper, so when you've gotblack on the screen, it'sgoing to blend in betterwith those bezels and look likeyou've got no bezels at all.Now moving onto the internals, the S8+has either the QualcommSnapdragon 835 processor,or Samsung's Exynos 8895,depending on your region. With the S9+ being the new device,it does have this year's processors, which are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845or Samsung's Exynos 9810.It also has six gigabytesof RAM versus four gigabytesof RAM on the S8+, andyou could expect the S9+to be faster overall becauseit does have the new internals. How much faster?Well, we can do some speed testwhen we have the retailversion of the S9+ in hand. And in terms of storage,we've got 64 gigabytesas a base on the S8+.On the S9+, we have abase of 128 gigabytes. So you do have an advantagehere with double the storageas a base, and both ofthese are expandable,so that's absolutely great. You're not going to bestuck with the storagethat you buy when you get the devices. Now let's move on to the cameras. With the S8+, you've got asingle 12-megapixel camera, which has dual pixel tofocus, optical stabilization, and an f 1.7 aperture. Now this was actually a really good cameraand did perform really well last year. With the S9+, we havesome major improvements.Firstly, we've got dual12-megapixel cameras, both optically stabilize, theprimary camera is wide-angleand it actually has a dual aperture. This is really cool; we've got f 1.5,which is the widest apertureon any smartphone right now, this is going to let in 28%more light compared to the S8+.So you're going to have muchbetter low-light performance. But it's also got an f2.4 apertureand it's going to mechanicallyswitch between these two,and seeing that change isactually pretty awesome. If you look closely, you can actually seethe aperture changing, andthat is absolutely insane. The way this is going to workis if you're in a situationwith less than 100 lux of light,it's going to use the f1.5,but if you're in a situation with morethan 100 lux of light, thenit's going to use the f 2.4.And this is going to allow youto have more things in focusand have a more pleasingshot in a better light. Now for the second camera,it's a telephoto camera, similar to what we had in the Note 8,with an f 2.4 aperture. This is going to allowyou have optical zoom, but it's also going togive you Live Focus. This is the portrait mode for Samsungand it's going to giveyou a blurry background. You can also edit thatblur after the fact, and it's going to take awide-angle shot at the same time,so you do have that, if needed. Now Live Focus actually workedreally well in my experienceon the Note 8, and I expect itto work very well on the S9+ too.But when it comes to video with the S8+,you've got 4K at 30 frames a second. With the S9+, you've got4K at 60 frames a second, and you've also got super slow-mo.Now super slow-mo is 720pat 960 frames a second, but it is only a short burst. This is similar to what we hadon the Sony devices last year. But the problem with theSony devices, I found, was that you had to pressit at the exact time, which meant that, more often than not,you would miss the shot. With the S9+, however, you haveautomatic motion detection,so you're going to be able to put a squarearound the area where it'sgoing to look out for motion, and when it does noticemotion in that area, that's when it's going todo that burst of 960fps.Now from the demo, thislooked absolutely epic, and I'm sure lots of people are going tohave lots of fun with this feature. And when it comes to thefront-facing cameras,we've got eight mexapixels on bothwith an f 1.7 aperture and autofocus. So, in terms of the hardware, there doesn't really seemto be a difference, butwe do have improvementsin terms of the software, and we've got selfie focus on the S9+.This is basically a portrait modefrom the front-facingcamera, like we've goton the Google Pixel 2,as well as the iPhone 10.It's going to blur the backgroundand give you a nice shot.In my testing, it didseem to work pretty well.Obviously we'll be doing lotsof camera comparisons SuperSaf style, and if you want to see those first, then make sure you have subscribedon Twitter notifications, and when we've got the S9+retail version in hand,we can go ahead and do those. For the operating systems,we've got Android. We don't have Oreo on the S8+as yet, not on mine anyway. That's supposed to be coming soon. With the S9+, it is going to comewith Android Oreo out of the box.We do have Samsung Experience skin on top,and moving onto the audio. We've got 3.5mm headphonejack on both devices, and I'm glad that Samsunghave kept this on the S9+.It's something that we'reseeing much less of these days, and with the S8+, we've got asingle bottom-firing speaker, which sounds okay but it isn't great. With the S9+, however, we do nowhave stereo speakers tuned by AKG.These are 1.4 times loudercompared to the S8+,and they also support Dolby Atmos. So, you can switch this onand it's going to give youa much more immersive experience. Now moving on to the additional features, with the S8+ we've got fingerprint scannerin an awkward place, this issomething that a lot of peoplewere complaining about last year. It's very difficult to reach, especially on the large device.Samsung have addressedthis, and with the S9+,we have the fingerprintscanner below the camerasand it's in a much moreaccessible position. You got iris scanners on both devicesas well as facialrecognition, but with the S9+we have Intelligent Scan, which uses a combinationof the iris scanner as wellas the facial recognitionto give you additional security. Now there's also a new feature on the S9+and that is AR Emoji.I call this Samsung'sanswer to Apple's Animoji. This is basically going tocreate a 3D avatar of yourselfwithin the device by usingthe front-facing camera. Now, I did a brief test ofthis, it didn't really lookthat much like me but itprobably did need some tweaking, and it maps your face andlooks at 100 facial featuresto give you realisticexpressions on your AR Emoji, which then you can sharewith your family and friendsover things like WhatsAppand Facebook Messenger. Both devices do haveSamsung's AI system, Bixby, and this can be launchedby the dedicated button. Now there are some improvements in Bixby, especially in terms of Bixby Vision. There's a live translate, which is going to let you pointyour camera at text, say ona menu, and it's going totranslate that on thescreen, there and then. And there's also things likebeing able to point it at foodand it's going to tellyou some information, like how many calories it's got.Now whether or not thesefeatures are going to be comingonto the S8+ final update,I'm not too sure about. Now, let's look at the batteries. The batteries are actually unchanged,we've got the same size batteryon both devices, 3500mAh.But, with the S9+, we dohave the newer processors,so they should be more efficient.Fast charging and fast wirelesscharging is on both devicesand it's great to use ifyou need a quick top up.And finally, looking atpricing and availability, the S9+ is actually comingin more expensive comparedto what the S8+ came in at, and this isbecause of the new additional features. So we've got the dual cameras,we've got new processors,we've got larger storage, et cetera. And with the S8+, becauseit's last year's device, you actually will be able to pick it upmuch cheaper than its release price.I'll leave some Amazon linksin the description belowif you want to see the latestpricing and availabilityof the S8+, but you can pretty much go outand buy it right now. With the S9+, it is going to be coming outon the 16th of March, butif you pre-order it early, then you will be getting ita little bit earlier too.So guys, that is the S8+ versus the S9+,and although we don'thave too much of a changein terms of the design, hopefully this video helped youto see all of the other improvements, such as with the camera especially. So, is it worth upgradingfrom the S8+ to the S9+?Well, if you're somebody who wants allof the latest features, thenthe S9+ is offering somethingthat we haven't seen onany other device beforewith that variable aperture. But, at the same time, ifyou're happy with the S8+,that is still a pretty good deviceand it should last you another year. And if you are somebodywho's in a bit of a budgetand cannot afford the S9+, then right nowwould be a good time to pick up the S8+,because it will bedropping further in pricewhen the S9+ is released. What do you guys think of the S9+?Definitely drop me a commentbelow and let me know.I hope you enjoyed thisvideo and found it useful. If you did, then do hit thatthumbs up button for me.And if you haven't already, then be sure to subscribeand switch on your notifications. We've got lots more SuperSaf style contentcoming up on
