This Space is Beautiful and Bright and Happy

I mean this space is just so beautiful and bright and happy and I really think it'll be inspiring for her when she comes home from her day job to keep pursuing her dream as a YouTuber why she started out with 35 subscribers let's see how many more we can get her cuz this room deserved some love and so does Tiny. The Room Was Purged to Create a Unique Space for Tiny

I remember when tiny first came into our lives she was living in a very full small room, which was also her storage unit. You had a lot of stuff, it was overwhelming. But you did us some major favors by purging a lot of items so thank you all right. We started from scratch and created this beautiful space for tiny.

Custom Built-In Bed System

We designed and built an amazing custom built-in bed system with no windows. It's like celebrating Windows because we were covering the windows, but now they're open to let in that natural light, which is so good for video filming. We preserved the storage by adding these cabinets and drawers on either side, which are nice and deep, allowing you to store a lot of stuff without it being too much.

Custom Lighting and Storage Solutions

We also added some cool LED lights up there that can be controlled with a switch. This built-in system is only attached in six places, so it's not destructive at all. It's actually removable, which is great because we're renting the space. We scoured the internet for vintage Guatemalan fabric and found this beautiful piece to add some color and personality to the room.

Personal Touches

To make the space feel even more personal, we added a painting that represents tiny's roots and interests. We also included a rug that's perfect for cuddling up on, which is always a bonus. And of course, we made sure to include plenty of storage solutions so that tiny can keep her belongings organized.

got to get some sort of storage solution for the closet I gotta figure out how I'm building the built-in around the bed and a TV mount I'm basically getting like everything for this room at Lowe's so I got a lot of shopping to do so let's go all right so I'm in the because I think the way we're gonna do this is actually going to put base cabinets as her sort of side tables so I'm just gonna find something in 24 inches and those are gonna go on both sides of the bed or redoing her closet because your closet is just a disaster right now these are really cool closet systems because you can basically have any closet size you don't have to cut any of this stuff you just have to be able to attach to the wall the wood I I'm going to use the prime time to build the bookshelves that are gonna be part of the built in alright I'd say we have a good amount of supplies or not all right now he's not only gonna be your bedroom hangout space but this is also gonna be where she's gonna shoot her videos okay so project time okay first and foremost I want to paint out these walls because this is like a very sort of dark bluish gray we have going on which is not her aesthetic she's very into like the pale peachy pink and white things definitely girly bohemian but we also want to keep it like more adults and she is 28 years old that also might make the room feel a little larger yeah lightening it up a bit key we're gonna keep it pretty simple styling wise but bring in a little bit of some Guatemalan inspired accents because she's one of all I'm very proud of her heritage she wants some of those beautiful patterns in here so we're gonna play with that so we're gonna have the bed here centered under the window but we're gonna put it daybed stop teeny bed styles her full size bed daybed style underneath the window and then on either side we're gonna have some sort of built in thing that Joey's going to execute that's gonna create a whole like unit around this bed so this will be the big focal point when you walk in you'll see her bed with the built-in unit found it which will provide her storage and display space will create a camera this built-in is going to be a rental friendly built-in meaning it's going to be all built but it's only going to be secured to the wall in a couple places using some L brackets right this is our half you know it's in hat and she got permission from her landlord to paint the walls and obviously hang stuff on the wall so technically that's all you're doing so we have two base cabinets which are you know like kitchen base cabinets and their unfinished wood which is perfect because they were gonna awfully paint the whole thing white part of the built in is also gonna be her bed frame so she's gonna have a platform bed as part of you're building the bed - yeah Joey's gonna be busy we are here at tiny hello okay so I wanted to do something a little bit different ly for this video so you work as a baker yeah and then your passion project right now is creating your channel yes The Princess Diaries the pint sized Diaries you heard of here subscribe than the baby Stevens baby stages the baby Channel for tiny I was her 35th subscriber yeah so guys count up from there please so I thought we could do a DIY together that I know will be kind of your bide so we'll work on this together and then also just kind of chat about YouTube and stuff because I feel like you are doing similar things to what I used to do when I first start out which is DIY videos right so maybe I can give you some tips yeah so now we shoot with two camera guys hello a sound guy we've got John we got Margaux is that Nick you even got that manually man is is assistant camera so obviously we have a big crew man it used to just be me sometimes shooting by myself or I quickly learned because I went to film school originally that I wasn't that good at the technical stuff so I hired just a videographer that I found off list when I was starting out because I could then think more about the creative so that's an idea for people out there but I know you're shooting your own stuff okay so let's get into the DIY the reason why we shoot to camera it's so that you can get coverage you have a shot of your face talking to camera but then you also have inserts which is what Marcos getting of our hands touching the stuff through that when you go to edit it you have it all there it can be cut together so we're we have this beautiful hanging planter faceted kind of like a gemstone and then we have all these faux succulents here this is called floral foam it's just like it's the the foam that Flores use because you can literally just stick stuff in there so our goal is to cut a clump it doesn't have to be pretty to stick in there and then we'll stick these things in and I think we have some drippy things and then we use for like smaller guys to fill in in the middle I love it these are so cool these are called string of pearls or strand of pearls succulents they're gorgeous so yeah what I wanted to tell you that perfect so I think that's the biggest tip with like shooting DIYs is having to camera so that you don't have to do it multiple times you know if you only have one camera you have to like stop stopping exactly and also you have to like film that a separate talk through what I don't we don't have tripods we have to like stack the books higher or my vlog this is our little blog camera here but I wanted to show you this because this is one of my favorite tripods that we use because it has like bendy legs Oh viewers shooting this by yourself you could have a tripod set up with one camera there and then you could have this as your like insert camera right and you could use the flexible legs to kind of mold around roll on this one roll on that one and the other good thing is to clap you know the how they do this slate because that makes a spike in your audio so you can match up the takes mmm tips we got tips yeah okay so what is your goal with their channel my goals to you know connect with other like-minded people with the same community you do bilingual videos Wow right right now I just do it in English but when I shoot with my dad we'll talk both Spanish in English yeah I love your videos with your dad those are so cute I think he's the more popular one and it's such a journey like we really started mr. Caid in like 2011 and I actually purposefully kept our old videos up on the channel just like for reference cuz like there's plenty of embarrassing videos that are still up on the channel if you guys want to watch them it's good for people to see that like we didn't always do this style of video I feel like this needs to go somewhere right you need to fill in this top well that looks good that looks so good we don't hear you please this one there's like something really satisfying about sticking things in that foam right that looks great oh gee obsessed and it looks so real with all the guys paint alright so we're painting with Valspar simplicity which is Valspar was zero BOC line the VOCs not only come from the base but when you get your paint mixed the colorant is actually what causes a lot of beauties you can get novio see colorant which is what we do I'm you get that at Lowe's so this is a genuinely no BOC paint DIY time continues okay so we've kicked tiny out she's off at work but nevertheless I think this projects gonna take two days because we have all that built and stuff plus the closet organization that we're doing but let's talk artwork shall we so I have this big wood canvas in front of me you guys know I love using these because they are just more substantial obviously than fabric canvases and they're really easy to just hang straight on the wall you don't have to like build a frame etc for it so they're a little bit more budget-friendly so the idea with this artwork is I wanted to give her some big piece of art on the wall next to the built in something kind of iconic and recognizable which really helps establish a channel as well it's like oh yeah I know that girl she is that cool like painting on her wall behind her I thought it would be really fun to do kind of like a caricature art of tiny not really cartoony but also not like super realistic she is just such a cute cool character her dark hair she's got like kind of like blue tips she always wears the Hat which I didn't even think about that and I put on a hat this morning I was channeling tiny so first of all I need to paint my background color and let that dry before I do the caricature of her on top of it so I have the wall paint color here on hand or beautiful peachy pink color and then I also have some other paint colors on I'm gonna kind of blend in with the wall color alright guys so let's talk about these built-in shelves this is sort of where I'm going with it so you have your base cabinets that are sticking out and then here in front we're gonna also have built a platform bed that's gonna go around it but so right now what I'm doing is I'm building the bookshelves that are gonna go on top of the base cabinet but ultimately it's all gonna look like it's one piece that's just made to all fit together so I'm screwing in the shelves from the outside which isn't going to matter because I'm gonna have a vanity face that's gonna actually go on top of this the whole thing with this is you can do between four to eight feet like they sell in two different increments because it's a no-cut system so we'll go with one of the five foot configurations and shows you a bunch of different options for what oh that's awesome and you have drawers for this too right yeah I bought separate they sell add-on drawers I got three drawers you had that just shelf in here with the clothing rod yeah and I'm gonna paint all this weight the same weight that we're doing the bill to them yeah they'll be fresher so I'm gonna finish that today and then tomorrow we'll start installing this weight but I still have to finish sanding and painting good morning guys quick update we are making progress with the built-in we're finishing out the bed we're gonna put some plywood on top the matches is gonna go on top of there we're gonna put some trim right here to just cover that up and make it look nice and then we're putting a trim piece up there a soffit and I got some lights that I'm actually gonna put in the soffit as well plus we gotta paint everything white still so still let's do did you finish Oh closet sorry so I'm thinking I'm gonna put two more shelves on that wall oh nice Chanel for your free shelving here we go is it fitting look at her beautiful bottom all this was the shirt she was wearing in the Instagram I painted okay and then that shorter hanging could be like shorts and skirts over there we got lots of you you look really cute oh gosh no I already on baby in there alright now it is time to add some of that Guatemalan flavor which is just so beautiful this is a piece of antique Guatemalan fabric I got this beautiful little swatch of it and then I also have these classic Guatemalan worry dolls I'm obsessed with these I used to have these when I was little even smaller and so really quickly I'm just going to mount this with hot glue onto this stick so we can hang it on the wall like a tapestry and then these worry dolls I'm just gonna kind of string together in a cute little garland that I think I might just hang like vertically if it's long enough maybe a horizontal sweep we'll see but yeah I'm just gonna join them together as friends using some twine so easy-peasy let's do it we made a buildin og we made a built-in we were made a buildin you fight how gorgeously legit is this here's my favorite thing though cave yeah this is like the thing I'm obsessed with so the mattress is awesome we've gone here but I have an access panel and I got this cool Bluetooth thing so I'm basically running the lights here it's access panel panel in the bed be stopped so smart and then when she's in bed like that wait so this is Bluetooth yeah that is so cool haven't seen that before here you can see from the bottom how I made the bed the whole thing is connected around the edge with our facing and then plywood on top to keep it all together and to hold the mattress because we don't have a box spring and then this is a cool detail to this little toe kick here yeah this is just a little front toe kick so that the bed looks like it's floating it's it's really also I did that to match the cabinets cuz the cabins have a toe kick on it so pregnant rug cuddles we can do sitting rug cuddles for the pregnant lady man let me tell you a story about the time your mom and dad when you were in the womb they were tackling all kinds of crazy projects we were trying to get lots of video shot so that we have videos for our create weirdos to watch while we're at home with you during your first couple months all right I gotta get the bed back down okay I gotta get this body off okay all right okay right here cactus both cactus ah oh my gosh I think we're done you guys it looks so good in here okay that's my opinion what do you think I mean how crazy is this transformation in here do you guys remember that loft bed how gigantic it was I mean it was a good intention she was trying to create a flow in here we've set these windows free here and not only set them free but we're celebrating them with this built in I am so impressed with Joey's work on this built in like he took all of these disparate things these base cabinets and the different wood and just pieced it all together it looks so amazing this is like a daybed of dreams of course I had to go a little cray-cray with the pillows but she loves pattern she loves that bohemian thing so we're totally playing with that with all the accents in here the macrame going on the styling and the shelves of the baskets we've got all of her Guatemalan kind of vibes in here as well a predominance of the peachy pink which is her favorite color she loves that girly bohemian look how about this feature piece right here I think it turned out really well she can shoot lightening it up a bit key we're gonna keep it pretty simple styling wise but bring in a little bit of some Guatemalan inspired accents because she's one of all I'm very proud of her heritage she wants some of those beautiful patterns in here so we're gonna play with that so we're gonna have the bed here centered under the window but we're gonna put it daybed stop teeny bed styles her full size bed daybed style underneath the window and then on either side we're gonna have some sort of built in thing that Joey's going to execute that's gonna create a whole like unit around this bed so this will be the big focal point when you walk in you'll see her bed with the built-in unit found it which will provide her storage and display space will create a camera this built-in is going to be a rental friendly built-in meaning it's going to be all built but it's only going to be secured to the wall in a couple places using some L brackets right this is our half you know it's in hat and she got permission from her landlord to paint the walls and obviously hang stuff on the wall so technically that's all you're doing so we have two base cabinets which are you know like kitchen base cabinets and their unfinished wood which is perfect because they were gonna awfully paint the whole thing white part of the built in is also gonna be her bed frame so she's gonna have a platform bed as part of you're building the bed - yeah Joey's gonna be busy we are here at tiny hello okay so I wanted to do something a little bit different ly for this video so you work as a baker yeah and then your passion project right now is creating your channel yes The Princess Diaries the pint sized Diaries you heard of here subscribe than the baby Stevens baby stages the baby Channel for tiny I was her 35th subscriber yeah so guys count up from there please so I thought we could do a DIY together that I know will be kind of your bide so we'll work on this together and then also just kind of chat about YouTube and stuff because I feel like you are doing similar things to what I used to do when I first start out which is DIY videos right so maybe I can give you some tips yeah so now we shoot with two camera guys hello a sound guy we've got John we got Margaux is that Nick you even got that manually man is is assistant camera so obviously we have a big crew man it used to just be me sometimes shooting by myself or I quickly learned because I went to film school originally that I wasn't that good at the technical stuff so I hired just a videographer that I found off list when I was starting out because I could then think more about the creative so that's an idea for people out there but I know you're shooting your own stuff okay so let's get into the DIY the reason why we shoot to camera it's so that you can get coverage you have a shot of your face talking to camera but then you also have inserts which is what Marcos getting of our hands touching the stuff through that when you go to edit it you have it all there it can be cut together so we're we have this beautiful hanging planter faceted kind of like a gemstone and then we have all these faux succulents here this is called floral foam it's just like it's the the foam that Flores use because you can literally just stick stuff in there so our goal is to cut a clump it doesn't have to be pretty to stick in there and then we'll stick these things in and I think we have some drippy things and then we use for like smaller guys to fill in in the middle I love it these are so cool these are called string of pearls or strand of pearls succulents they're gorgeous so yeah what I wanted to tell you that perfect so I think that's the biggest tip with like shooting DIYs is having to camera so that you don't have to do it multiple times you know if you only have one camera you have to like stop stopping exactly and also you have to like film that a separate talk through what I don't we don't have tripods we have to like stack the books higher or my vlog this is our little blog camera here but I wanted to show you this because this is one of my favorite tripods that we use because it has like bendy legs Oh viewers shooting this by yourself you could have a tripod set up with one camera there and then you could have this as your like insert camera right and you could use the flexible legs to kind of mold around roll on this one roll on that one and the other good thing is to clap you know the how they do this slate because that makes a spike in your audio so you can match up the takes mmm tips we got tips yeah okay so what is your goal with their channel my goals to you know connect with other like-minded people with the same community you do bilingual videos Wow right right now I just do it in English but when I shoot with my dad we'll talk both Spanish in English yeah I love your videos with your dad those are so cute I think he's the more popular one and it's such a journey like we really started mr. Caid in like 2011 and I actually purposefully kept our old videos up on the channel just like for reference cuz like there's plenty of embarrassing videos that are still up on the channel if you guys want to watch them it's good for people to see that like we didn't always do this style of video I feel like this needs to go somewhere right you need to fill in this top well that looks good that looks so good we don't hear you please this one there's like something really satisfying about sticking things in that foam right that looks great oh gee obsessed and it looks so real with all the guys paint alright so we're painting with Valspar simplicity which is Valspar was zero BOC line the VOCs not only come from the base but when you get your paint mixed the colorant is actually what causes a lot of beauties you can get novio see colorant which is what we do I'm you get that at Lowe's so this is a genuinely no BOC paint DIY time continues okay so we've kicked tiny out she's off at work but nevertheless I think this projects gonna take two days because we have all that built and stuff plus the closet organization that we're doing but let's talk artwork shall we so I have this big wood canvas in front of me you guys know I love using these because they are just more substantial obviously than fabric canvases and they're really easy to just hang straight on the wall you don't have to like build a frame etc for it so they're a little bit more budget-friendly so the idea with this artwork is I wanted to give her some big piece of art on the wall next to the built in something kind of iconic and recognizable which really helps establish a channel as well it's like oh yeah I know that girl she is that cool like painting on her wall behind her I thought it would be really fun to do kind of like a caricature art of tiny not really cartoony but also not like super realistic she is just such a cute cool character her dark hair she's got like kind of like blue tips she always wears the Hat which I didn't even think about that and I put on a hat this morning I was channeling tiny so first of all I need to paint my background color and let that dry before I do the caricature of her on top of it so I have the wall paint color here on hand or beautiful peachy pink color and then I also have some other paint colors on I'm gonna kind of blend in with the wall color alright guys so let's talk about these built-in shelves this is sort of where I'm going with it so you have your base cabinets that are sticking out and then here in front we're gonna also have built a platform bed that's gonna go around it but so right now what I'm doing is I'm building the bookshelves that are gonna go on top of the base cabinet but ultimately it's all gonna look like it's one piece that's just made to all fit together so I'm screwing in the shelves from the outside which isn't going to matter because I'm gonna have a vanity face that's gonna actually go on top of this the whole thing with this is you can do between four to eight feet like they sell in two different increments because it's a no-cut system so we'll go with one of the five foot configurations and shows you a bunch of different options for what oh that's awesome and you have drawers for this too right yeah I bought separate they sell add-on drawers I got three drawers you had that just shelf in here with the clothing rod yeah and I'm gonna paint all this weight the same weight that we're doing the bill to them yeah they'll be fresher so I'm gonna finish that today and then tomorrow we'll start installing this weight but I still have to finish sanding and painting good morning guys quick update we are making progress with the built-in we're finishing out the bed we're gonna put some plywood on top the matches is gonna go on top of there we're gonna put some trim right here to just cover that up and make it look nice and then we're putting a trim piece up there a soffit and I got some lights that I'm actually gonna put in the soffit as well plus we gotta paint everything white still so still let's do did you finish Oh closet sorry so I'm thinking I'm gonna put two more shelves on that wall oh nice Chanel for your free shelving here we go is it fitting look at her beautiful bottom all this was the shirt she was wearing in the Instagram I painted okay and then that shorter hanging could be like shorts and skirts over there we got lots of you you look really cute oh gosh no I already on baby in there alright now it is time to add some of that Guatemalan flavor which is just so beautiful this is a piece of antique Guatemalan fabric I got this beautiful little swatch of it and then I also have these classic Guatemalan worry dolls I'm obsessed with these I used to have these when I was little even smaller and so really quickly I'm just going to mount this with hot glue onto this stick so we can hang it on the wall like a tapestry and then these worry dolls I'm just gonna kind of string together in a cute little garland that I think I might just hang like vertically if it's long enough maybe a horizontal sweep we'll see but yeah I'm just gonna join them together as friends using some twine so easy-peasy let's do it we made a buildin og we made a built-in we were made a buildin you fight how gorgeously legit is this here's my favorite thing though cave yeah this is like the thing I'm obsessed with so the mattress is awesome we've gone here but I have an access panel and I got this cool Bluetooth thing so I'm basically running the lights here it's access panel panel in the bed be stopped so smart and then when she's in bed like that wait so this is Bluetooth yeah that is so cool haven't seen that before here you can see from the bottom how I made the bed the whole thing is connected around the edge with our facing and then plywood on top to keep it all together and to hold the mattress because we don't have a box spring and then this is a cool detail to this little toe kick here yeah this is just a little front toe kick so that the bed looks like it's floating it's it's really also I did that to match the cabinets cuz the cabins have a toe kick on it so pregnant rug cuddles we can do sitting rug cuddles for the pregnant lady man let me tell you a story about the time your mom and dad when you were in the womb they were tackling all kinds of crazy projects we were trying to get lots of video shot so that we have videos for our create weirdos to watch while we're at home with you during your first couple months all right I gotta get the bed back down okay I gotta get this body off okay all right okay right here cactus both cactus ah oh my gosh I think we're done you guys it looks so good in here okay that's my opinion what do you think I mean how crazy is this transformation in here do you guys remember that loft bed how gigantic it was I mean it was a good intention she was trying to create a flow in here we've set these windows free here and not only set them free but we're celebrating them with this built in I am so impressed with Joey's work on this built in like he took all of these disparate things these base cabinets and the different wood and just pieced it all together it looks so amazing this is like a daybed of dreams of course I had to go a little cray-cray with the pillows but she loves pattern she loves that bohemian thing so we're totally playing with that with all the accents in here the macrame going on the styling and the shelves of the baskets we've got all of her Guatemalan kind of vibes in here as well a predominance of the peachy pink which is her favorite color she loves that girly bohemian look how about this feature piece right here I think it turned out really well she can shoot in front of this this can be like a signature background for her she's got this whole beautiful desk vanity area she can film against here with the natural light coming from the windows I mean this space is just so beautiful and bright and happy and I really think it'll be inspiring for her when she comes home from her day job to keep pursuing her dream as a youtuber why she started out this video with 35 subscribers so let's see how many more we can get her cuz this room deserved fuse and so does tiny speaking of tiny let's go get her I'm right we're leading you in don't worry remember what your room looked like oh my god ideas it was a very full small room very full small room for a tiny person you had a lot of stuff it was a storage unit yes but you did us some major favors by purging a lot of items so thank you all right ready Oh beautiful are these hobby deer very happy oh so we obviously did this really cool custom built-in bed system no windows yeah you're celebrating Windows you were covering your windows yeah yeah let in that natural eight natural light is so good for your video filming we preserved the storage so we've got these cabinets and drawers on either side those cabinets are nice and deep you can store a lot of stuff not too much stuff put that tray there so you could just get the idea of how you could sit there watch TV edit videos film yourself obviously film yourself of course I really like these cool LED lights that are up there and then you have a switch to control them right there this built-in is only attached in six places it's not you know destructive at all because this is a rental yeah like you know it looks like it's a part of the wall but it's actually not you can take it with you if you want vintage Guatemalan fabric I scoured the internet just for you and then that painting but I wanted you to have some kind of iconic piece that was like your five your cool like Guatemalan roots you've got your beautiful little blue tinges and your hair but I thought this could also be a really cool backdrop to film again because you're such like a cool cute personality that is amazing you did such a good job beautiful yes in a model home this is this rug that was cuddle approved ya be huddled on it it's very soft and then we have the closet closet was a situation and this system you can adjust as well so if you decide you want to like lower one of the shows or something like that you can just move it on the track or add more bars whatever you want yeah yeah we have more stuff that you can add to I can actually walk and oh good
