My First Car is Getting my Childhood Dream Engine!

**The Development of a Dream Car**

I've seen my seat time car, Heidi, and it's a beauty. The three 2 3 is one of my favorite cars to drive. You can't blow that thing up, I mean, I've let everybody drive that thing. Oh yeah, yeah, you should see how much water was run through it too. Yeah, it's about 10 quarts of water, never drained it when you pulled it out from after the um flooding and he was like revving it up and there's just water shooting out the exhaust. Yeah, still Amanda, yeah, buyers right up.

**Game Plan**

So, game plan this is gonna be covered in immense detail on the Drift HQ Channel. PSI is going to be making videos while they're getting the engine together and ready for drop-in, and then we'll check in throughout the course of what we got about a month. Yeah, so we're definitely pushing the timeline. Yeah, like another day or so on the um 370 to finish that up and then it's like 14 calendar days for working to get this car on so it's like two weeks. Yeah, two working weeks.

**Pushing Limits**

You sure know how to push the limit, we built the whole Pro spec car in two weeks, so I mean can't be any harder than that. Yeah, they quoted me um three days at Pep Boys, so I was hoping we could try to beat that. We gotta beat that Pep Boys, it honestly wouldn't be the craziest thing to say that if Eric still worked there Eric is a great guy, yeah, he could he could probably do that in like three days. Yeah, but it would obviously not.

**M3 Rear Quarter Swap**

I want to try my best to keep this car stock body. I've never been a huge fan of the M3 clone look and I think it'd be super cool for this car to be making like mid 600 horsepower and look like a stock E46 sedan. But, if typical atom fashion, I get upset because I can't fit enough rubber under it. There's a chance that it might end up yeah, we got a lot of room between the strut and the wheel, I feel like I probably fit a 265 maybe even a 275 on stock body.

**Mid-Range Goals**

My goal is to just want to be able to go to far away skate parks on pump gas have it be reliable air conditioning good sound system bike rack and mopping up horses on the highway. It's a Dream, it's just it's just another daily. Guys, we're not starting this again, I'll sell the turbo you have 38 deals no, I don't you have 38 deals he's got too much clearance than I do yeah, he's really low.

**The Trick**

So, the trick is I have to like hold it like slightly like I'm almost in Drive. Stop doing things. Oh what if I rip the subframe out that's actually a thing imagine stop doing it put the car away. The car's in Gray Hands Chris and Cricket are awesome, if you guys haven't watched any of the videos in the Drift HQ Channel they've been working on a 370Z that has been given away on drift HQ where every five dollars you spend gets you ended for a chance to win and that will be eligible all through Black Friday.

**Thank You**

We got tons of Black Friday deals, I'm excited for them to do their thing on this thing. Can you thank you foreign fun until I had to put the car away. I want to thank FCP Euro again for making this project possible it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm so excited to be ripping this thing doing burnouts in third gear and to combine what once was my dream to have an hpf E46 M3 into having my first car, and it makes something truly special. So, thank you FCP Euro and the next video that you guys see is actually going to be a video from Japan me and Colette are flying over as you guys are watching this got some new cars that we're going to be checking out and seeing for the first time.

**A Redneck Cold Start**

I told you it needs a new engine so guess forgets that. The thing does not like to hold water, that's a tire error sensor issue dude

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthank you it's a beautiful day out here at the LZ compound I decided today instead of driving the golf cart around I drive around zeroy it's got to put some miles on her give her some love Smiles on my face Smiles on other people's faces foreign nothing like some g25s in the morning it's been a while since we've talked about my first car just to bring you up to speed I found my very first E46 325i I think it was maybe about like six months ago or so and FCP Euro partnered with me on it to bring it back to life they helped me Source a lot of the OEM parts that were broken missing or that needed replacing we brought the car back to life but it's kind of just sat since let's go baby first fire about them so why has this car been sitting well if we look underneath the hood there's one crucial thing missing for this to be a car that Adam LZ likes to enjoy a special engine this is the same 2.5 liter m52 not a big BMW guy so I don't know the exact code it doesn't make a lot of horsepower it's automatic and other than the Nostalgia there's no real reason why I would choose to drive this car over anything else that I own but that's where phase two of the project comes into play when we did this original series with fcuro I told you guys the engine out of the car that I'll show you right now but plans have changed I bought this car this is like one of the world's cheapest E46 M3s I think FCP Euros Hills but new OEM Hood latches so this car has an s54 in it which is the the stock e4673 motor great engine sounds great itb's revs high man dude this engine is rough what the Jesus underwater action there this thing didn't I don't think this thing went underwater I don't know anyway that's why it's so cheap GPS this is gonna be the donor car I was gonna steal a lot of the bits to manual swap my car do have M3 subframes and three axles and the s54 but all that time all that energy and all that money and I will essentially have created an identical replica of this car right here which is an nas-54 manual car just in a four-door version to me every car that I own I want to be a special unique and exciting experience and I just haven't been motivated to get that car done because I know that I'll basically be creating what I already have here in a nicer shell in my dream color with my dream interior so the plans have changed my recent spike in motivation comes from the fact that FCP euro is going to be in attendance at the LZ Invitational which we just released more details on so the goal which I'm curious to see if you guys think is realistic or unrealistic once you realize what engine's going in this is to get the car done before the Invitational so it can be on display at the FCP Euro Booth I also have a link that takes you to cyberweek.fcp euro.com and when you sign up via that link you'll get notified with Early Access to FCP Euros cyber Week deals holy just found out that the LG and you should definitely go there and get a ticket we're actually going to be limiting the number of people this year to have a little bit less than last year and holy it's a two-day event oh my goodness everything has changed but it's still going to be the same fun that you're used to with lots of changes you can find out more information on LZ invitational.com we'll have a YouTube members live stream two days of fun if you want to come enjoy did I mention that tickets are probably going to sell out at some point in time so you should definitely get a ticket soon and now I recommend visiting the description for more information thank you now it's time to go pick up our new motor foreign on my old commute because we are heading to my old shop neighbor PSI AKA Precision Sport and I feel like that should be a massive hint of what direction we're going with this engine just happen to know there's something special tucked away with a special story and I think it's perfect for my E46 what are the odds that on my old commute I run into my old Audi my RS6 Avant how funny almost as funny as the fact that as I was filming that there was a cop behind me and there's a lot of cops in this area and I definitely don't miss that and I hope that I can pull me over thing and I was talking to my cell phone is it illegal to to film while driving probably is it a gray area in my head baby would I argue in a state of Court most likely not is my morning coffee getting me past the combination average of five hours of sleep I've got in the past three days seems so my old block the kingdom of the crackle tune I'm back BC racing to the right PSI to the left back in the PSI shop we're here with Sean and uh here is the motor in question could it be what could it be hmm foreign surprise we've got an s54 but this isn't your average s54 Sean if you want to give a little background on this motor right here yeah so this was originally an hpf 2.5 built motor from back in the day what were we talking about 12 years ago I think Adam yeah I remember back back when I got my E46 hpf was running in their M3s yeah so we had two shop hpf cars we had a 2.5 and we had a and we had a three stage three car this is out of the 2.5 this car made about 680 wheel horsepower at the time which 12 years ago was the put it lightly but this is a low compression it's nine and a half to one it's got CP Pistons Carrillo rods super tech valve train we had it totally gone through fully taken apart and reassembled by our machine shop that we work with and it's been sitting here for a personal project of mine but because I never get time and Adam always does projects it works we've been talking about this motor for probably a hot minute now but I was always a little bit earring on the side of not wanting to use it because of the fact that it was lowered compression stock compression and s54 as well like 11 to 1 11 and a half gone half to one so I run ethanol I run ignite on pretty much every car that I have where the higher compression isn't really a big deal but if you're on pump gas that's like detonation City so hpf back in the day I don't think ethanol was really that prevalent back then it wasn't they ran meth or they ran 100 methanol in a tank in the engine bay to help with you know to help make power so since my E46 I want to be a project that I can just drive anywhere and don't have to worry about fuel or anything like that I'm actually going to be doing a pump gas build for the first time ever and it kind of works out because it's a lower compression engine I just drive it fill it up with the pump go to skate parks far away without worrying about anything and it made it a little more exciting for me so obviously what we're looking at right now is I don't want to say a bear long block but it's pretty bare there's a lot of timing components it's missing cams and a lot of the other intricacies of the s54 So the plan so we're going to build it here we're going to build everything up to a running motor we're going to do all the timing put the cams in do all that here we're going to build it on our Channel over at the Precision Sport YouTube so check out over there we're going to show all the little technical because it's a tricky motor I mean we do build these a lot here but we got to have the right tools you gotta have the right parts so we're going to build it up ready to install and then take it over to the guys that drift HQ and Adam and get it in the car the only thing you guys won't see from that would be obviously the I don't should I say number one I guess one of the big three the rod bearings on it you can check out on the FCP Euro Channel they do have a really good DIY on doing rod bearings but everything else PSI is about to cover on this motor and I'm excited to have have it all ready to go to E46 I can't remember where I left it off in videos but originally the plan was to do an nas54 as kind of the stage one and then stage two maybe turbo I feel like I talked about that but FCP euro is coming to the LZ Invitational which by the way I'll have more details on soon it is going to be the weekend of December 18th I think it's going to be a two-day event this year and knowing that my first E46 is going to be at their Booth I had to do it right so originally the dream car build was the Laguna Seca E46 M3 with the hpf turbo kit but I think I enjoy that car too much in its stock iteration and this car being my first car doing all the stuff like I literally remember being a Freshman in high school and seeing some dude pull up either picking up his daughter or his girlfriend in the silver E46 M3 had a big intercooler on it t-37s I didn't even know what it was I didn't know much about cars at the time I remember hearing the turbo a little bit looking it up and be like holy this dude spent that much money on a car and it makes that much horsepower and since then I just obsessed watching the videos of the highway pulls the high revving sounds of the turbo E46 M3s and picturing a hybrid of having that experience in my first car you know shooting for a modest like mid-600 horsepower safe on pump gas maybe we'll turn it up enough and all at some point and just knowing that Sean had this motor sitting around like the opportunity and the Stars lined up too good to not seize it so we're keeping a BMW which is nice but a turbo s74 is in common and I'm excited that we're staying true to what I dreamed about as a kid instead of taking the easy route up on like a 2J or an LS in it this dude this dude holes in here does a redneck cold start for 30 seconds I told you it needs a new engine so against forgets that the thing does not like to hold water that's a tire error you pull water in here that's what happens when you know but the TPMS sensors in dude no I think I think there was one of those issues where there's like uh there's a leak I think there's there was water in it do you remember last time I did a burnout this happened yeah I do and then I think I just parked it yeah you did and then I forgot yep that happens as you can see even though it's a sick engine it's going to need a lot of parts and a lot of intricate little things that I know nothing about and that's where FCP Euro comes into play I'm super thankful that they have a team of enthusiasts that not only build their catalog but deal with customer service so when people like me call and say hey I've got s54 and I need all these parts and then send photos they help me come up with a massive list and get you the best prices possible their lifetime replacement guarantee is also pretty sick and comes in handy sounds too good to be true but I promise it's not inside here a pile of old parts now in typical atom fashion we would end up buying new everything so it looks brand new but we've got a brand new Vapor honing machine and this is the perfect opportunity to test it out so instead of buying a new valve cover so it's shiny and a new front cover and all these things I'm going to do some Vapor hunting and show you guys what this bad boy can do this machine is their vh3500 I think this is the same one that Tommy has and I've fallen in love with Vapor hunting you guys know that I've been sending stuff to either Tommy or my boy over at New JDM and they've been restoring parts for me this whole time which is awesome but now I get to do it myself so the 3500 is big enough to where I could fit a whole block in here or a transmission case you would need to disassemble it but in this case this will be more than enough workspace to make all this stuff look brand new if you are familiar with what Vapor honing is it essentially it Vapor homes with like a wet slurry with glass bead and water and it kind of like micro polishes the aluminum but the best part about it is you don't need to clear coat it and it stays looking good forever because it kind of like seals the pores and like I said it kind of like micro polishes everything so this will be a great piece to kind of show you what it can new but before we throw the parts in the cabinet and start Vapor hunting them you do need to degrease them otherwise you'll contaminate the slurry and you'll have to change it over we've got a parts washer inside that we haven't hooked up yet once we have that thing ripping that'll be the move but for now these parts aren't really that dirty so hit everything with some Degreaser power wash it and then we should be ready to rip get a good look at what we're starting with here now it's time to go to town the coolest thing about this my favorite part windshield wipers I haven't cleaned it off yet but this is about one minute look at that pretty amazing all right I'm gonna finish the best thing about this is there's no dust unlike sand blasting so we can have it in a room like this we want to keep relatively clean machine's pretty quiet and it's so fast obviously we've been able to take advantage of other people that offer a vapor honing service for our builds but the fact that now we can do it in-house means that so many little Parts while we're putting together quick timeline projects we'll be able to clean up and then they'll last forever when you're done it has a clean water hose which I'll kind of rinse off the wall with but also rinsing off the part thoroughly we got to make sure you wash it really good to get all the glass feed out of it but it's nice that you can do this in the cabinet before you take it out and get the sand everywhere and the result is tell me that doesn't look great dude it's like using silver spray paint except it's actually the aluminum and it actually is going to last I've been I've been so patiently waiting for this machine like you have no idea how excited I am let's go baby time for the fun part before foreign I don't have a whole lot of time so I definitely could have gotten these better but let's take a look at what we got this piece came out beautiful I'm feeling the valve cover is gonna need another hit this was definitely a challenging piece there's a lot of intricacies on it but overall it came out pretty dang good Fun cover came out tits foreign things get a little interesting we have our hands full to the max between trying to get the fds 15 together trying to finish the CRX and trying to get the four rotor super done for the Invitational so throwing another project into the mix that involves swapping an engine fabrication not really realistic but we just so happen to be lucky enough to have another Pro level Automotive shot on site just you know a casual 30 second drive over to the drift HQ shop are you ready that was pretty anticlimactic I was trying to do the it seems like someone's done this a few times in this car before sounds great it smells something stinky yeah that's probably the no coolant the mod yeah now we can do some clean shell what do you think next drift build yeah she's mint if you guys already haven't met Chris from drift HQ this is Chris so uh you sure that uh you wanna touch old girl yeah our thing man all right let's dive in also if you guys have met Cricket this is cricket from drift HQ 81 the other guy so the plan it's now been established that it's going Turbo S 54. so I know that you guys have done a beautiful s54 swap in door to z36 yep have you done it in an E46 E46 no we pulled plenty of them out yeah it's kind of just the reverse all the time and put them in e36s so we've uh We've consulted with RK Tunes AKA King of the verbal tune and he has given us some confidence in saying that uh most of it should just work like stock everything plugs in and yeah my understanding is he's just gonna have to flash ECU and because it is Turbo I think we just have to add some stuff for like IAT and for a Mac valve and stuff like that but other than that yeah it should be pretty straightforward So the plan like I said we are like in way over our heads with the amount of stuff we have going on in the shop but I don't want to do a build like this and then have it to where it just gets crazed over because it's done in the background so the full details of the swap will be covered on the drift HQ Channel with Chris cricket and Joelle filming and I know you guys do a lot of good like technical DIY stuff so let's walk you through it is this a common swap for BMW people yes a lot of this is like the dream swap is putting in an s54 into a normal E46 mostly I want to do one in my wagon yeah most of the time if you do motor swaps on BMWs you drop the resale value of them but if you put a BMW motor especially a nicer BMW motor into your BMW then helps you resell that that is true there's a there's a E46 wagon that I saw him bring a trailer and like people were bidding like 40 Grand 30 40 Grand on it and in my head I'm like yo if that was like swap with the Jay-Z no one would touch it with a 10K exactly it's a BMW purist so yeah you know keep them a little bit happy so process uh what is the plan on the are you guys going to do like chassis stuff first because I know we're gonna basically M3 convert everything brakes Driveline subframes whole nine yards yeah so I think the approach is going to be because we're going to be waiting for the motor to come here we're going to start with the rear subframe do all of our bushing subframe reinforcements um swap over the trailing arms the brakes and all that stuff and get the engine out that way if you want to get the engine bay painted cleaned up or anything like that while we're waiting on the motor at least we have that open and available to run it's not really that bad it's not bad it'll clean up good for being a Connecticut car you know yeah yeah you guys will fun find all the fun on the drift HQ Channel when it comes to uh hopefully there's not a lot of rust on this thing yeah but yo did you guys see the new uh Vapor blasting cabinet we got I unloaded it but it was in a box so I haven't got to see what it looks like I saw it it's just ginormous yo five minutes and parts be coming out like that yeah that's OEM fresh right there so yeah so I've got a long story it didn't have I feel like it's more likely to leak when you start with not a lot of coolant because then the air makes more leaks and pressure start pushing stuff out in place it doesn't actually cool so you ran the corner yeah yeah is that another reason for the s54 because you kind of overheated the engine I'm real good at overheating it's popped a few in his way yeah I'm on my third or fourth engine now fourth we'll go with fourth yeah I got one right here no I got a 330 in mine now I couldn't afford the s54 so I went with the 330 motor that's what I wanted I might keep it as a backup if you don't want it I wanted to try to blow it but it just can't get cool enough it's really it's really trying I know have you seen my seat time car Heidi the three two three you can't blow that thing up I mean I've let everybody drive that thing oh yeah yeah you should see how much water was run through it too yeah it's about 10 quarts of water never drained it when you pulled it out from after the um flooding and he was like revving it up and there's just water shooting out the exhaust yeah still Amanda yeah buyers right up so game plan this is gonna be covered in immense detail on the drift HQ Channel PSI is going to be making videos while they're getting the engine together and ready for drop-in and then we'll check in throughout the course of what we got about a month yeah so we're definitely pushing the timeline yeah like another day or so on the um 370 to finish that up and then it's like 14 calendar days for working to get this card on so it's like two weeks yeah two working weeks yeah you sure know how to y'all can say no you sure push the limit we built the whole Pro spec car in two weeks so I mean can't be any harder than that yeah they quoted me um three days at Pep Boys so I was hoping we could try to beat that we gotta beat that Pep Boys it honestly wouldn't be the craziest thing to say that if Eric still worked there Eric is a g yeah he could he could probably do that in like three days yeah but it would obviously not we're gonna we're doing a lot more than just endings he works for your engines getting built right now though yeah he does Eric works for PSI now yeah they've met Eric in the past yeah so the the common thing that I feel like you a lot of you guys are going to comment is to do the M3 rear quarter swap where you cut and re-weld on the M3 quarters I want to try my best to keep this car stock body I've never been a huge fan of like the M3 clone look and I think it'd be super cool for this car to be making like mid 600 horsepower and look like a stock E46 sedan but if typical atom fashion I get upset because I can't fit enough rubber under it there's a chance that it might end up yeah we got a lot of room between you have 38 dailies no I don't you have 38 deals he's got too much clearance than I do yeah he's really low it bottoms out just driving yeah I see that yeah I've never knew to adopt a cardboard if there's ever a time this is it oh yeah so the trick is I have to like hold it like slightly like I'm almost in Drive stop doing things oh what if I rip the subframe out that's actually a thing imagine stop doing it put the car away the car's in Gray Hands Chris and Cricket are awesome if you guys haven't watched any of the videos in the drift HQ Channel they've been working on a 370Z that has been you guys so thank you and I'll see you soon this dude this dude posing here does a redneck cold start for 30 seconds I told you it needs a new engine so guess forgets that the thing does not like to meth or they ran 100 methanol in a tank in the engine bay to help with you know to help make power so since my E46 I want to be a project that I can just drive anywhere and don't have to worry about fuel or anything like that I'm actually going to be doing a pump gas build for the first time ever and it kind of works out because it's a lower compression engine I just drive it fill it up with the pump go to skate parks far away without worrying about anything and it made it a little more exciting for me so obviously what we're looking at right now is I don't want to say a bear long block but it's pretty bare there's a lot of timing components it's missing cams and a lot of the other intricacies of the s54 So the plan so we're going to build it here we're going to build everything up to a running motor we're going to do all the timing put the cams in do all that here we're going to build it on our Channel over at the Precision Sport YouTube so check out over there we're going to show all the little technical because it's a tricky motor I mean we do build these a lot here but we got to have the right tools you gotta have the right parts so we're going to build it up ready to install and then take it over to the guys that drift HQ and Adam and get it in the car the only thing you guys won't see from that would be obviously the I don't should I say number one I guess one of the big three the rod bearings on it you can check out on the FCP Euro Channel they do have a really good DIY on doing rod bearings but everything else PSI is about to cover on this motor and I'm excited to have have it all ready to go to E46 I can't remember where I left it off in videos but originally the plan was to do an nas54 as kind of the stage one and then stage two maybe turbo I feel like I talked about that but FCP euro is coming to the LZ Invitational which by the way I'll have more details on soon it is going to be the weekend of December 18th I think it's going to be a two-day event this year and knowing that my first E46 is going to be at their Booth I had to do it right so originally the dream car build was the Laguna Seca E46 M3 with the hpf turbo kit but I think I enjoy that car too much in its stock iteration and this car being my first car doing all the stuff like I literally remember being a Freshman in high school and seeing some dude pull up either picking up his daughter or his girlfriend in the silver E46 M3 had a big intercooler on it t-37s I didn't even know what it was I didn't know much about cars at the time I remember hearing the turbo a little bit looking it up and be like holy this dude spent that much money on a car and it makes that much horsepower and since then I just obsessed watching the videos of the highway pulls the high revving sounds of the turbo E46 M3s and picturing a hybrid of having that experience in my first car you know shooting for a modest like mid-600 horsepower safe on pump gas maybe we'll turn it up enough and all at some point and just knowing that Sean had this motor sitting around like the opportunity and the Stars lined up too good to not seize it so we're keeping a BMW which is nice but a turbo s74 is in common and I'm excited that we're staying true to what I dreamed about as a kid instead of taking the easy route up on like a 2J or an LS in it this dude this dude holes in here does a redneck cold start for 30 seconds I told you it needs a new engine so against forgets that the thing does not like to hold water that's a tire error you pull water in here that's what happens when you know but the TPMS sensors in dude no I think I think there was one of those issues where there's like uh there's a leak I think there's there was water in it do you remember last time I did a burnout this happened yeah I do and then I think I just parked it yeah you did and then I forgot yep that happens as you can see even though it's a sick engine it's going to need a lot of parts and a lot of intricate little things that I know nothing about and that's where FCP Euro comes into play I'm super thankful that they have a team of enthusiasts that not only build their catalog but deal with customer service so when people like me call and say hey I've got s54 and I need all these parts and then send photos they help me come up with a massive list and get you the best prices possible their lifetime replacement guarantee is also pretty sick and comes in handy sounds too good to be true but I promise it's not inside here a pile of old parts now in typical atom fashion we would end up buying new everything so it looks brand new but we've got a brand new Vapor honing machine and this is the perfect opportunity to test it out so instead of buying a new valve cover so it's shiny and a new front cover and all these things I'm going to do some Vapor hunting and show you guys what this bad boy can do this machine is their vh3500 I think this is the same one that Tommy has and I've fallen in love with Vapor hunting you guys know that I've been sending stuff to either Tommy or my boy over at New JDM and they've been restoring parts for me this whole time which is awesome but now I get to do it myself so the 3500 is big enough to where I could fit a whole block in here or a transmission case you would need to disassemble it but in this case this will be more than enough workspace to make all this stuff look brand new if you are familiar with what Vapor honing is it essentially it Vapor homes with like a wet slurry with glass bead and water and it kind of like micro polishes the aluminum but the best part about it is you don't need to clear coat it and it stays looking good forever because it kind of like seals the pores and like I said it kind of like micro polishes everything so this will be a great piece to kind of show you what it can new but before we throw the parts in the cabinet and start Vapor hunting them you do need to degrease them otherwise you'll contaminate the slurry and you'll have to change it over we've got a parts washer inside that we haven't hooked up yet once we have that thing ripping that'll be the move but for now these parts aren't really that dirty so hit everything with some Degreaser power wash it and then we should be ready to rip get a good look at what we're starting with here now it's time to go to town the coolest thing about this my favorite part windshield wipers I haven't cleaned it off yet but this is about one minute look at that pretty amazing all right I'm gonna finish the best thing about this is there's no dust unlike sand blasting so we can have it in a room like this we want to keep relatively clean machine's pretty quiet and it's so fast obviously we've been able to take advantage of other people that offer a vapor honing service for our builds but the fact that now we can do it in-house means that so many little Parts while we're putting together quick timeline projects we'll be able to clean up and then they'll last forever when you're done it has a clean water hose which I'll kind of rinse off the wall with but also rinsing off the part thoroughly we got to make sure you wash it really good to get all the glass feed out of it but it's nice that you can do this in the cabinet before you take it out and get the sand everywhere and the result is tell me that doesn't look great dude it's like using silver spray paint except it's actually the aluminum and it actually is going to last I've been I've been so patiently waiting for this machine like you have no idea how excited I am let's go baby time for the fun part before foreign I don't have a whole lot of time so I definitely could have gotten these better but let's take a look at what we got this piece came out beautiful I'm feeling the valve cover is gonna need another hit this was definitely a challenging piece there's a lot of intricacies on it but overall it came out pretty dang good Fun cover came out tits foreign things get a little interesting we have our hands full to the max between trying to get the fds 15 together trying to finish the CRX and trying to get the four rotor super done for the Invitational so throwing another project into the mix that involves swapping an engine fabrication not really realistic but we just so happen to be lucky enough to have another Pro level Automotive shot on site just you know a casual 30 second drive over to the drift HQ shop are you ready that was pretty anticlimactic I was trying to do the it seems like someone's done this a few times in this car before sounds great it smells something stinky yeah that's probably the no coolant the mod yeah now we can do some clean shell what do you think next drift build yeah she's mint if you guys already haven't met Chris from drift HQ this is Chris so uh you sure that uh you wanna touch old girl yeah our thing man all right let's dive in also if you guys have met Cricket this is cricket from drift HQ 81 the other guy so the plan it's now been established that it's going Turbo S 54. so I know that you guys have done a beautiful s54 swap in door to z36 yep have you done it in an E46 E46 no we pulled plenty of them out yeah it's kind of just the reverse all the time and put them in e36s so we've uh We've consulted with RK Tunes AKA King of the verbal tune and he has given us some confidence in saying that uh most of it should just work like stock everything plugs in and yeah my understanding is he's just gonna have to flash ECU and because it is Turbo I think we just have to add some stuff for like IAT and for a Mac valve and stuff like that but other than that yeah it should be pretty straightforward So the plan like I said we are like in way over our heads with the amount of stuff we have going on in the shop but I don't want to do a build like this and then have it to where it just gets crazed over because it's done in the background so the full details of the swap will be covered on the drift HQ Channel with Chris cricket and Joelle filming and I know you guys do a lot of good like technical DIY stuff so let's walk you through it is this a common swap for BMW people yes a lot of this is like the dream swap is putting in an s54 into a normal E46 mostly I want to do one in my wagon yeah most of the time if you do motor swaps on BMWs you drop the resale value of them but if you put a BMW motor especially a nicer BMW motor into your BMW then helps you resell that that is true there's a there's a E46 wagon that I saw him bring a trailer and like people were bidding like 40 Grand 30 40 Grand on it and in my head I'm like yo if that was like swap with the Jay-Z no one would touch it with a 10K exactly it's a BMW purist so yeah you know keep them a little bit happy so process uh what is the plan on the are you guys going to do like chassis stuff first because I know we're gonna basically M3 convert everything brakes Driveline subframes whole nine yards yeah so I think the approach is going to be because we're going to be waiting for the motor to come here we're going to start with the rear subframe do all of our bushing subframe reinforcements um swap over the trailing arms the brakes and all that stuff and get the engine out that way if you want to get the engine bay painted cleaned up or anything like that while we're waiting on the motor at least we have that open and available to run it's not really that bad it's not bad it'll clean up good for being a Connecticut car you know yeah yeah you guys will fun find all the fun on the drift HQ Channel when it comes to uh hopefully there's not a lot of rust on this thing yeah but yo did you guys see the new uh Vapor blasting cabinet we got I unloaded it but it was in a box so I haven't got to see what it looks like I saw it it's just ginormous yo five minutes and parts be coming out like that yeah that's OEM fresh right there so yeah so I've got a long story it didn't have I feel like it's more likely to leak when you start with not a lot of coolant because then the air makes more leaks and pressure start pushing stuff out in place it doesn't actually cool so you ran the corner yeah yeah is that another reason for the s54 because you kind of overheated the engine I'm real good at overheating it's popped a few in his way yeah I'm on my third or fourth engine now fourth we'll go with fourth yeah I got one right here no I got a 330 in mine now I couldn't afford the s54 so I went with the 330 motor that's what I wanted I might keep it as a backup if you don't want it I wanted to try to blow it but it just can't get cool enough it's really it's really trying I know have you seen my seat time car Heidi the three two three you can't blow that thing up I mean I've let everybody drive that thing oh yeah yeah you should see how much water was run through it too yeah it's about 10 quarts of water never drained it when you pulled it out from after the um flooding and he was like revving it up and there's just water shooting out the exhaust yeah still Amanda yeah buyers right up so game plan this is gonna be covered in immense detail on the drift HQ Channel PSI is going to be making videos while they're getting the engine together and ready for drop-in and then we'll check in throughout the course of what we got about a month yeah so we're definitely pushing the timeline yeah like another day or so on the um 370 to finish that up and then it's like 14 calendar days for working to get this card on so it's like two weeks yeah two working weeks yeah you sure know how to y'all can say no you sure push the limit we built the whole Pro spec car in two weeks so I mean can't be any harder than that yeah they quoted me um three days at Pep Boys so I was hoping we could try to beat that we gotta beat that Pep Boys it honestly wouldn't be the craziest thing to say that if Eric still worked there Eric is a g yeah he could he could probably do that in like three days yeah but it would obviously not we're gonna we're doing a lot more than just endings he works for your engines getting built right now though yeah he does Eric works for PSI now yeah they've met Eric in the past yeah so the the common thing that I feel like you a lot of you guys are going to comment is to do the M3 rear quarter swap where you cut and re-weld on the M3 quarters I want to try my best to keep this car stock body I've never been a huge fan of like the M3 clone look and I think it'd be super cool for this car to be making like mid 600 horsepower and look like a stock E46 sedan but if typical atom fashion I get upset because I can't fit enough rubber under it there's a chance that it might end up yeah we got a lot of room between the strut and the wheel I feel like I probably fit a 265 maybe even a 275 on stock body yeah so my goal is I just want to be able to go to far away skate parks on pump gas have it be reliable air conditioning good sound system bike rack and mopping up horses on the highway it's a Dream It's a just it's just a daily guys it's just another daily we're not starting this again I'll sell the turbo you have 38 dailies no I don't you have 38 deals he's got too much clearance than I do yeah he's really low it bottoms out just driving yeah I see that yeah I've never knew to adopt a cardboard if there's ever a time this is it oh yeah so the trick is I have to like hold it like slightly like I'm almost in Drive stop doing things oh what if I rip the subframe out that's actually a thing imagine stop doing it put the car away the car's in Gray Hands Chris and Cricket are awesome if you guys haven't watched any of the videos in the drift HQ Channel they've been working on a 370Z that has been given away on drift HQ where every five dollars you spend gets you ended for a chance to win and that will be eligible all through Black Friday we got tons of Black Friday deals and I'm excited for them to do their thing on this thing can you thank you foreign fun until I had to put the car away I want to thank FCP Euro again for making this project possible it's going to be a lot of fun I'm so excited to be ripping this thing doing burnouts in third gear and to combine what once was my dream to have an hpf E46 M3 into having my first car and it makes something truly special so thank you FCP Euro and the next video that you guys see is actually going to be a video from Japan me and Colette are flying over as you guys are watching this got some new cars that we're going to be checking out and seeing for the first time we've got a lot of drifting that's gonna go down so I'm exploring it's actually going to be a pretty long trip but it's gonna be a good trip and I'm excited to share with you guys so thank you and I'll see you soon this dude this dude posing here does a redneck cold start for 30 seconds I told you it needs a new engine so guess forgets that the thing does not like to hold water that's a tire error sensors in dude\n"
