LGR - Thrifts [Ep.2] Big Blue Find

Greetings and Welcome to LGR Thrifts: Episode 2

And this is a show where I'm just going around showing you where I get a pretty significant portion of my collection, and that is at thrift stores and Goodwills and flea markets and wherever else. And today we're gonna be taking a look at another couple other Goodwill stores somewhat near me as some random shops and thrift stores. And yeah, I hope you stick around in the end because I have got quite the haul today.

First up is a little consignment shop called Lulu's that I've never actually been to. Most of it is full of women's clothing which, uh, isn't exactly my thing. But it did have a little section of DVDs, electronics and games, mostly stuff the 360, the Wii, PS2 and even some Leap Frog games thrown in here. Nothing particularly of note, and the prices weren't that great either, so I kind of just wrote this off. Worth a shot, though.

Next up is yet another Goodwill which I didn't go to in the last video. And yeah, this one's a pretty typical Goodwill for around here. Went straight to the CDs and DVDs section and found, uh, well, you know, a couple of things in here. Here's a Microprose compilation of Civilization and Mantis, as well as this copy of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the PS2. Already had it. Still, complete, it was kinda cool to see. Ran across a copy of Kid Pix Studio. I think this is actually the first version which I only have the third one. So that's pretty neat.

Battlefield Vietnam, complete in box. Eh, why not? Ran across this Microsoft mouse with a VTech mouse in there? Uh, no. Next up is another Goodwill, even further away, and yeah, this is kind of a smaller store. But ya never know. You might find a wireless keyboard and mouse set... that, uh, may or may not work and doesn't appear to come with the mouse. Okay, maybe not. Quite a few CDs and DVDs here. Uh, some intriguingly titled stuff. I did find this very strange little game, I guess. It's called Bible Sleuth. Man, I do not even know, but I like odd things and I actually have a thing for collecting bizarre Christian games, so... why not? Also ran across this thing in here called The 'Jongg CD', which I guess is just a compilation of mahjong kind of games. Like Mahjong Solitaire. Don't even pretend to know, but it looks cheap as balls, so that means I'm intrigued.

Something called Paper Airplane Print Activities. I didn't pick this up. I don't really care for print activity center kind of things, but... I don't know, the name was kind of interesting. And ran across a copy of Freddi Fish and the Search for the Missing Kelp Seeds. I actually didn't have this. Also found a copy of SeaWorld Adventure Parks Tycoon. He he! I just wanted to grab this after watching the previous video.

I just wanted to grab this afterwatching \"Blackfish.\" Seems terrible.Over in the DVDs, you got your pretty basicselection of Guitar Hero and junk like thatas well as quite a fewSims 2 games in the boxes.I have all of them,so I didn't have a need for them, but still, you know, these weren't badly priced.Three bucks each. Also found a copyof Grand Theft Auto III for the PS2It's just a GTA kind of day.Didn't have any manual, and I already have itanyway, so whatever. And then I foundMe and My Katamari for the PSP, and, man,I had actually just bought this online that dayso my timing was just a little bit off.And I always check out the books sectionbecause, you know, you never never knowif you'll find anything interesting or not.Sometimes I find games in here, other times I just find interesting bookslike this High-Tech: How To Find & ProfitFrom Today's New Super Stocks! This is like from 1982, 83,and talks about investing in the IBM PCand Apple and stuff like that. This is just really cool to me.Also found this book that I have heard of, actually. This is called Back to Our Future. It's like an investigation of why the1980s have really shaped our current...I dunno, existence? And books are like 75 cents, so why not?Over in the electronics - oh, yeah...You got your typical selectionof CRTs and old monitors.Oh, man, and then I ran across these. These are the Hot Wheels speakers that came withthe Hot Wheels-branded computer.Thankfully they provide an outlet that youcan actually plug things in and test here, and here's a nice little tip:Test your stuff! They allow you to return things, but that's a hassle. And if you have your phone with you,you can just plug in something likethese speakers and see if they work. And well, lo and behold, they worked perfectly.I don't have the Hot Wheels computer, but these just look cool.Next up is a little shopI had never noticed beforecalled Lost Treasures.\"We buy and sell anything of value.\"And, man! This place turned out tobe a treasure trove of awesomeness!Unfortunately, very much eBaykind of priced awesomeness. But there's just so much nostalgiain this place, it's ridiculous.I mean, tons of boxed systems.I mean, they had like a Sega CD and NES,uh, Deluxe Pack in the box,a ton of games for the Wii,uh, stuff for the Xbox 360,Nintendo DSes and Game Boys andSega Game Gears...Nintendo Gamecube. PS Vita. Sega Genesis.A bunch of Atari 2600 stuff, even.As you can see here, lots of NES, SNES games.Lots of N64 stuff, PS1, PS2, original Xbox. The thing is, everything in here is pricedreally what you would expect to pay on eBay.Most of these loose games were around,I dunno, 8 to 15 dollars each. And there was anything good, well they knew it was good.Like the Sega CD I was talking about, they were charging $280 for that thing. And it's nice to know thatthey work, but, you know...And they don't carry PC games.Like, at all. I even asked them about it.Talked to the manager lady,half-owner of the storeand she said they just don'taccept PC stuff. And that sucks. They do carry a ton of other things, though.Toys, memorabilia, collectibles...Movie things, TV shows, board games.Lamps, comic books.Pretty much, if you can imagine it, it's in here somewhere, but just don't expect to be finding any realbargains in here, because they do their research.Next up, we have a Salvation Army storewhich is a lot like Goodwill. And in here, you'll find a lot of the samekind of stuff you would in a Goodwill. You know, cassette tapes and 8-tracksVHSes and old fax machine/printer/copier combos.Puzzles, LPs that nobody gives a crap about.A lot more furniture in these places thanGoodwill, at least in my experience.Word processors, glasses and silverware. They have a case that they sometimeskeep some games in over here, but typically there's not much of anything. You got, like, Band Hero and DJ Hero,as well as a very lonely copy ofDesperate Housewives for the PC, whichI had to get because it's pretty much like the Simsand because of that, I want to try it.Always checkin' out the board games sectionbecause you never know what you'll find.As well as the VHSes. Sometimes you findsome Sega Genesis stuff tossed in here.Found a copy of SimLife on CD-ROMwhich, whatever, I already have it.Uh, Zoombinis: Mountain Rescue.Hey, why not? I want to review this anyway. Also found a copy of the original Pajama Sam game.Which is cool. The one I have didn't haveall the artwork. It was just the disc. And then I ran across...Aw, you know, I saw Space Jam down hereon the back of this CD, and I was just like, okay...What-- oh, yes. It is Space Jam. The soundtrack.I am going to rock this all day.And onto one last Goodwill, which I almost didn't go into because I hadjust cleared it out a couple of days prior. But man, I am glad I am glad i came in here!Checking out the CD section, I found a copy ofRidge Racer in the original long box for the PS1.A boxed copy of Bejeweled 2, as well asanother long box PS1 game, Destruction Derby, fairly priced at $3.Again, I always check the VHS section and DVDs because you never know.Found a couple PS2 gamesin here I've been wanting.Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy,as well as Worms 3D.Okay, I lied about wanting that one.Always, always, always check the board games, especially if you're looking for big boxPC games, and what do you know?I find a couple stashed in here today. One is Silent Steel, an FMV game that I've never played, and Police Quest: SWAT which I already have,so I'm gonna leave it herefor someone else to come and enjoy.Looking at the other VHS section and I found what looked like a bunch of LPs at first, but nope! These are laserdiscs. They were priced at $5 eachand I was at first just goingto grab a handful of them, because, you know, that's notthe best price in the world, but there were just somereally cool movies in here.I'll show you what I ended upgrabbing, though, later on.And finally, as I was lookingaround the electronicsto see if maybe someone had droppedoff a laserdisc player as well...I about crapped my pants, had aheart attack and died right there.Holy nuts!An IBM 5160 XT!This is the second IBM PC andit was for $39, and in great shape!Since when does thisever show up at Goodwill?!So needless to say, I was psyched. And here's the overall haulfor this LGR Thrifts episode. All of this right here came to a total of $63,which for almost 20 games, some interesting speakers, some books, some floppy disks, and even a Blu-ray of Rio,I think I could have donea lot worse, to be honest.I guess you can kind of see why my collection hasgotten so large over the past four or five years.I usually come away with somethingon my thrifting adventures, but today was especially awesome.Just a lot of stuff at really decent prices. And I'm not a reseller or anything.I just like collecting this stuffbecause it's interesting to meand I like doing videos on them. And here's all the laserdiscsI ended up grabbing.I got Aliens, Predator,Silence of the LambsBlade Runner: Director's CutCasinoSevenReservoir DogsFrom Dusk Till DawnDie Hard With A VengeanceStargateTotal Freakin' RecallMission: ImpossibleGoodfellasBraveheartInterview with the VampireDie Hard12 Freakin' MonkeysClive Barker's Lord of IllusionsTop Freakin' Gun!Pink Floyd The Freakin' WallBram Stoker's DraculaDazed and ConfusedAnd The AbyssAnd yeah, I actually endedup paying $2 each for thesebecause I got so many and thegirl at the register was really nice. She was just like, \"Okay, here.\"And since there were mostly two discs in each pack, they charged it as like $1 per disc. And yes, the IBM PC XT. The 5160.And I actually have all the otherperipherals that I need to set this thing up,so I cannot wait to use it.Oh my goodness, $39.Uh, whoever \"B.W.\" isthat ticketed this thing, you are my hero for notthrowing this thing awayand actually putting a decentprice on this. Oh my word.Ugh, the condition of this thing is wonderful!5.25\" drive...3.5-inch. Got a hard drive, it looks like.Ugh. Heavy enough to have a hard drive.Great shape. Just great shape.Oh, let's see...Still has the plastic on the IBM 5160 logo!Uh, yeah.Still on there.Thing's in nice, nice condition! It's not even really scratched up back here.United Van Lines...Looks like the companythat used to have this, that's what they were called.Yeah, it's got a...uh, let's see, a hard drive.Or, uh, yeah. Hard disk controller right there.Probably the floppy controller. Got a video card here.I'm not entirely sure what that is, but...Either CGA or MDA, it looks like.Uh, serial card...I am blown away. Absolutely...This is so cool!I have never found anythinglike this at Goodwill before, and I've found some really cool stuff.I mean, I just found a bunch of cool stuff. But, but this takes the cake.I mean, good grief!I am-- I am so happy. Um...Wow. I mean this is the kind of thingI-- I didn't even thinkhappened at Goodwill anymorebecause everybody alwaysbuys the good stuff for...You know, I was told they gotrid of their vintage computers. Now I'm not so sure.Maybe something's changed?I, I-- I don't know, but myresolve in finding thingsis renewed to an extreme. So, um... wow! Uh...Be sure to check back next time to see whatin the world I come across on \"LGR Thrifts\".Thank you for watching.Oh, this is so cool!\n"
