The Smoothest Gaming Experience: Unpacking the Power of 2K and 165Hz Displays
As I sat down to test out my new monitor, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The jump from 30 to 60 hertz was a significant leap, but I had heard that going from 60 to 165 would be an entirely different story. And boy, was I right.
Playing games at this higher refresh rate felt like a whole new level of immersion. The silky smooth gameplay was a revelation, and it truly made me realize just how much the display could enhance my gaming experience. It's funny, because a lot of people say that the jump from 30 to 60 is going to be the biggest you'll ever see, but I can confidently say that the leap from 60 to 165 makes an even bigger difference.
In fact, it felt like I was playing a whole different game at this higher refresh rate. The fluidity and responsiveness were unmatched, and it's no surprise why gamers are flocking to these displays in droves. Even my personal experience with Doom Eternal, where I was getting some fluctuation with my PC, couldn't prepare me for the smoothness of gameplay that 165Hz delivers.
But before we dive into the nitty-gritty details of this display, let's take a look at what makes it so special. One of the standout features is its compatibility with high-refresh-rate games, particularly those optimized for the Series X and S consoles. Dirt 5, in particular, was a revelation – running at 120Hz was an absolute delight, and it's amazing to see how developers are pushing the boundaries of what's possible on these displays.
Of course, there are some caveats to consider. For instance, you do need to set your resolution correctly (either 4K or 1440p) and frame rate to 120Hz in order for optimal performance. Additionally, running at this higher refresh rate can result in some visual degradation – think reduced texture quality and less detailed graphics – but it's a trade-off that many gamers are willing to make.
Moving on to the Series X itself, I wanted to put its capabilities through their paces. Starting with Dirt 5, I set the display to 1440p and 120Hz and was blown away by the level of detail and responsiveness. It's clear that this console is capable of delivering some truly exceptional visuals, even at high refresh rates.
But what really caught my eye was the Master Chief Collection – specifically Halo 3. Running this game at 120Hz on the Series X was nothing short of stunning, with a silky-smooth frame rate and crisp visuals that left me speechless. It's clear that Microsoft has put in some serious work to optimize this title for their console, and it shows.
Of course, I couldn't resist giving my new display a try with some other popular titles as well. The Switch, in particular, was an interesting candidate – running 1080p 60 content on the display resulted in visuals that were simply stunning, even at lower resolutions. And with features like FreeSync and Overdrive, it's clear that this monitor is designed to deliver a top-notch gaming experience.
Finally, I wanted to give my new display some real-world testing. Playing Overwatch at 2K 165Hz was an absolute blast – the smoothness of gameplay was unparalleled, and it felt like I was playing in a whole different league. And let's not forget about Forza Horizon 4 – running this game on my new display at 1440p 144Hz was simply breathtaking.
In conclusion, my experience with this 2K 144-165Hz display has been nothing short of transformative. The level of immersion and responsiveness it delivers is truly unparalleled, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for gaming displays like this. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking to upgrade your setup, this monitor is definitely worth considering – especially at its affordable price point.
If you have any questions or comments about my experience with this display, please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments below. And as always, thanks for watching!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's going on everybody it's eta prime back here again today we're going to be taking a look at a pretty awesome gaming monitor from pixio this is a 27 inch 2k 165 hertz gaming monitor known as the px277 prime now i've been in the market for a higher refresh rate monitor for a little while but i kind of just stayed away from them because of the price but i do think this offers a really good value coming in at 299 to 329 depending on where you pick it up around back here we have two hdmi inputs this is hdmi 2.0 this will do 2k at 144 hertz or if you want to take it up a little bit we have a displayport 1.2 which will do 2k at 165 hertz taking a look at the specs of the px277 prime i think they packed in a lot of stuff here given the price is around 3 to 3.29 we have a 27 inch display with a resolution of 2k or 2560 by 1440p it's an ips panel it supports hdr 144 hertz to 165 hertz 350 nits of brightness srgb at 111 response time on this is one millisecond and it does support amd freesync premium and g-sync so when it comes to testing these monitors out i don't own any fancy tools to measure the brightness or color accuracy on them usually what i do is plug in a decently powered gaming rig here and test it out if i like it i'll keep it if not i'll return it so straight off the bat i can already tell the difference just moving these windows around in windows itself is super duper smooth now i've gone into my nvidia control panel here and i've set it to 2k and 165 hertz here it's definitely going to look a lot better to the naked eye in real life because i'm filming this at 4k 60. if i could film this at 4k or even 2k 165 hertz i would but unfortunately i just can't do it in this video i'm going to test out a couple games running at 1440p 165 hertz and then we'll move over to the xbox series x this is my main rig here with the 9th gen i7 clocked at 5 gigahertz and a 2080 ti first up we have cs go and like i mentioned at the beginning i've never owned a really nice gaming monitor with a higher refresh rate than uh 60 but this does make a world of difference it feels like you're playing a whole nother game here i mean i know a lot of people say that you know the jump from 30 to 60 is going to be the biggest you've seen but from 60 to 165 definitely makes a big difference this just feels silky smooth and going into this i personally didn't think it would make this big of a difference but it feels really nice playing at this higher refresh rate next up doom eternal 2k 165 hertz and i did turn v-sync on in hopes that i could keep a stable 165 with this but i am getting some fluctuation with my pc and really filming a screen at 4k 60 and then uploading it to youtube with the compression they use isn't gonna do this justice you need to see one of these in real life and then you'll know exactly what i'm talking about this in my opinion adds a whole nother level to pc gaming i should have picked one of these up a while ago okay so moving over to the series x i'm gonna go into the settings here i'm just going to set this to 1440p and we'll go to 120 hertz and there are some newly optimized games for the series s and x that do support 120 like dirt 5 which is the first one we're going to test and then we'll move over to the master chief collection with halo 3. so since they released dirt 5 on game pass i've been playing the heck out of it on a 4k 60hz display and i didn't have any complaints i think the game looks good i personally prefer forza horizon 4 graphics but uh this does look really nice for a rally game and in order to run this on the series s or x at 120 hertz you have to have your resolution set correctly be it 4k or 1440p and you also have to have the frame rate set to 120 in the xbox settings and then from within dirt 5 go into the video settings and check prioritize frame rate it does degrade the visual quality of the game because they have to drop some settings down to get to 120 hertz but in my opinion it's well worth it running at this higher frame rate another one that supports it right now is the master chief collection here we have halo 3 and it is really really smooth i mean it definitely makes a huge difference foreign and i mean even if you just wanted to run something that'll do 1080p 60 or even 720p 60. it still looks great on the screen it's got a good display on it that ips panel looks absolutely amazing even at 1080p so here we have the switch running on it obviously this isn't going to do 1440p or over 60 hertz but it still looks great with 1080p 60 content running on it real quick give you a look at the osd settings around back we have this little rocker we have our basic display settings brightness contrast things like that we can also move over to colors so we can change that color temperature free sync on and off overdrive bunch of different settings in here we can change our inputs directly from the osd and we also have three user profiles that we can save to so if you want to set up a profile for your pc or xbox and another device you can easily switch between them so you don't have to go through and adjust it every single time you plug that in so yeah i mean i'm a big fan of this monitor here it's really going to be hard for me to go back to a 60 hertz monitor after playing some of my favorite games on here especially forza horizon 4. i'm actually set at 144 hertz 2k here and it looks outstanding now i've been playing forza for a long time and i remember when they made the jump from 30 to 60 which was a giant jump and in my opinion going from 60 to 144 is still just as good this is really really awesome and real quick before i wrap this up i just wanted to show off a little bit of overwatch gameplay 2k 165 hertz looking really nice here feels great um so that's gonna wrap it up for this video really appreciate you watching if you're interested in learning more about this i will leave a link in the description and this is something that i can actually recommend if you're looking for an affordable 2k 144 to 165 hertz display i think this is an awesome choice especially given that price there at 300 to 329 it's really hard to beat something like this if you have any questions let me know in the comments below and like always thanks for watching youhey what's going on everybody
