### **5. Henrietta: The Enigmatic Town from "The Hollow Places"**
Our journey begins with the charmingly eerie town of Henrietta, the setting for TJ Klune's *The Hollow Places*. Despite not being classified as a horror series, this town exudes an air of constant eeriness that keeps readers on edge. From the misty forests to the mysterious locations our protagonists venture into—like the forgotten "Whispering Pines"—Henrietta feels like a character in itself, with its haunting atmosphere and unspoken secrets. It's not about jump scares; it's the persistent sense of dread that makes this setting stand out.
---
### **4. The Dead Spaceship: A Cosmic Horror from "Leviathan Wakes"**
Next up is the chilling dead spaceship from Daniel Abraham's *Leviathan Wakes*, a sci-fi series where a virus turns crew members into zombies, creating a cosmic version of *The Walking Dead*. This setting's creepiness isn't confined to just one universe; it echoes Sam's experience with Mass Effect 2—a video game where the eerie ship atmosphere, combined with spine-chilling music and sounds, made for an intense gaming experience. While neither Leviathan Wakes nor Mass Effect are horror titles per se, they both masterfully incorporate elements that keep you on your toes.

### **3. The Moors: Gothic Romance Meets Spooky Vibes**
Venturing into the misty realms of Gothic literature, we find ourselves in the eerie landscapes of the Moors, famously depicted in "Wuthering Heights" and "Jane Eyre." These settings are iconic for their ability to blend romance with a haunting atmosphere. The moors are more than just scenery; they're characters that amplify the tension, whether through the wind-swept heaths or the brooding castles that stand as sentinels of old secrets. It's where darkness and beauty coexist, making them unforgettable.
---
### **2. Death River: A Trip Through the Gates of Death**
Our next stop is the chilling Death River from Garth Nix's *The Horseman series*. In this unique setting, characters must navigate a river that flows through the gates of death, encountering souls and reaping grim consequences. This take on mortality is anything but traditional; it's a haunting exploration of what lies beyond life, presented in a way that feels both surreal and deeply unsettling. It’s not just spooky—it’s a challenge to our perceptions of death.
---
### **1. The Wood from "Uprooted": A Forest That Breathes**
Finally, we arrive at the magical yet creepy forest from Naomi Novik's *Uprooted*. This isn't your typical enchanted wood; it's alive with a malevolent presence that makes every step into its depths feel like an冒险 into the unknown. Sam is enraptured by forests that have agency, where the trees and undergrowth seem almost sentient, creating an eerie yet captivating ambiance. It’s a place where magic and horror intertwine, leaving you both in awe and on edge.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys it's Sam and this is top five Wednesday if you are new to top five Wednesday I will leave a link to the Goodreads group down below for topics and such this week's topic is our favorite creepy settings this does not have to be from horror or anything that's supposed to be creepy necessarily but these are some settings there were a little bit spoopy number five is Henrietta and that is the town that the regular voice takes place in this story is just so atmospheric and just has that creepy feeling to it all the time so even though nothing in the books that I've read so far about Henrietta is particularly scary there's something about it that makes it feel eerie and creepy especially when they go in the forest and I'm forgetting the name of that place that they go to which I know you guys will tell me in the comments but that particular place is very creepy and spooky number four is the dead spaceship from Leviathan week so in Leviathan wakes there's that like a virus that's happening going around and basically turning people into zombies it's really gross and they see footage of like the dead ship and stuff a lot and it's it's a it's a horror show it's like The Walking Dead in space it's horrible and the reason I think this creeping out so much too is because it reminds me of another creepy place it's very similar and you guys know that I can't go a top by Wednesday all month without talking about Mass Effect so here we go but in Mass Effect 2 there's a ship that you go on and it's really creepy as well and it reminds me of that like this ship reminds me of that experience and that was a more visceral experience for me because I was playing it as a video game and oh man the the atmosphere and the music and the creepy sounds it's a lot and I was not a fan it was real scary so Leviathan wakes itself is not a horror book and Mass Effect is not a horror game just has some spooky stuff sometimes number three we have the Moors from Gothic literature in general but specifically weathering Heights but in general the Moors Jane Eyre all that kind of stuff is just a creepy Gothic romance setting and I had to mention it because it's just one of those that's it's misty it's spooky it's a Gothic romance it's the misty moors and number two is death from their horseman series by Garth Nix yes of course Etha scary but this is like a river stick situation so the characters that are abortions have to go and wade through this like death River into various gates where the dead are and like buying to them and it's spooky it's real spooky man and it's supposed to be because you're in death and you know it's scary but it's it's a very it's a very different representation definitely we're used to seeing I think and it's really cool but a number one is my favorite kind of creepy setting in general and that is the wood from uprooted by Naomi Novik the wood in here is a creepy forest and it's like alive and kind of evil and I love magical like forests like that I just love it I think that's so cool I don't know what it is about it but I love it so this whole feeling within the forest and the wood and like the wood being like aware is super cool so again if you have any recommendations like that I really love that but any kind of fantasy where the wood has like feelings almost I really enjoy that but it was creepy the things in here creepy so that is it for some of my favorite creepy settings comment about let me know some of your favorite creepy settings try to stay away from the horror cuz of course horror is supposed to be scary but let me know some things that like maybe weren't intended to be scary settings necessarily or like were scary but not in like a horror setting kind of way let me know down below so thank you all for watchinghey guys it's Sam and this is top five Wednesday if you are new to top five Wednesday I will leave a link to the Goodreads group down below for topics and such
