This week in the tech news: Intel 900P, PUBG patch and Ryzen laptop

**This Week in Tech News**

We've got some exciting updates to share with you, covering the latest developments in the tech world.

**Asus' New Laptop and CPU Update**

Asus has just released its first Republic of Gamers (ROG) branded laptop featuring an actual rise in CPU power. The new laptop boasts a fully-fledged desktop Rison 7 1700 processor, which is an 8-core, 16-thread part. This is a significant improvement over previous mobile versions and is expected to excite anyone who uses their laptop as a workstation for editing and other tasks.

The ROG laptop also features an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU in its cut-down version, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a balance between performance and price. The fully-fledged desktop version of the Rison 7 1700 is a six-core, 12-thread CPU, which is an amazing idea to have in a laptop.

The ROG laptop also has AMD parts, specifically an RX 580 for graphics, and a FreeSync panel, ensuring a proper gaming experience without breaking the bank. This laptop is genuinely an exciting proposition for gamers and those who need a powerful device for work.

**Player Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) Performance Issues**

The latest patch for PUBG has caused performance issues, which is ironic considering the game's reputation for being poorly optimized. Even with high-end hardware like a GTX 10 ATTi and an i7 8700K, users are still struggling to achieve 60 frames per second at 1440p.

One of the three people who own a gaming PC that isn't playing PUBG (yours truly), I've never played the game before due to its alpha-stage quality. It seems like the developers have been working on patches that make the game even worse, rather than improving it.

**Intel's 900 P Series SSDs**

Intel has released its 900 P series of SSDs, which uses 3D Xpoint memory for the first time in a consumer-grade product. This technology is significantly faster and more durable than traditional flash memory used in previous generations of SSDs.

The 600 P model, which is the budget-friendly option, is up to seven times faster than competing NVMe drives, according to Intel's quoted performance figures. However, actual test scenarios have shown that the 900 P massively outperforms current NVMe drives and will continue to do so in the future due to its enduring nature.

While this technology comes at a high price point, it's an exciting development for those who can afford it.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello and welcome to another episode of this week in the tech news where today I'm not going to talk at all about Star Wars Battlefront 2 and how it hilariously did terribly on its first week first off it'll has said in a statement that they're gonna dedicate a whole new factory to the production of coffee like CPUs they're all proud of themselves about the news but I think it's like way too late at this point the products been out for about a month now and for a month nobody's been able to get their hands on it and now they're going yeah maybe we should dedicate another factory to producing an entire new generation of product and Asus just released its first Republic of gamers branded laptop with an actual rise in CPU in it which is really exciting news because the CPU isn't some cut-down mobile version of the Rison CPUs the snap table has an actual fully fledged desktop Rison 7 1700 which is an 8 core 16 thread part in a laptop I think that's really exciting news for anybody who uses their laptop as a workstation for like editing and stuff if you don't want to spend as much money on it you can get kind of a cut-down version with Verizon five 1600 in it again the fully fledged desktop version which is a six core 12 thread CPU and yeah that's just an amazing idea to have that in a laptop I think that was a good going on aces and maybe for that and the laptop graphics wise or also has AMD parts so it's got an rx 580 in it for graphics and the actual panel the screen is free sync so it means that yeah you can get like proper Terra free experience on this laptop and it's not gonna have to cost like $200 more because it's got a decent model in it I think this laptop is genuinely an exciting kind of gaming slash works proposition and in some more gaming related news player unknown battlegrounds latest patch is actually causing performance issues which I found hilarious when I first read this article because well the game is renowned for being the least optimised game in the history of the universe that even if you have like the GTX 10 atti with like an i7 8700 K you're still barely gonna get 60 frames per second at like 1440p so how can this patch actually make the performance worse I don't really know how that works I'm actually one of the three people that have a gaming PC in the world that isn't playing player battlegrounds I've never played it before because well I'm not really into alpha stage for these games and it seems like they're never actually gonna push the game any further because well the whole world's brought it up until now so why kind of not released patches that just make the game even worse but let me know in the comments below if you actually think I should play the game if you think it's worth it you get it on steam sales I've been on in so it's not that expensive vibe and finally Intel released its 900 P series of SSDs which everybody's getting all hot bothered about because it's the first consumer grade SSD that's gonna use 3d xpoint memory now the reason this is really exciting is because 3d xpoint x-point memory is hugely fast and it's significantly faster than the kind of normal methods of flash that the previous generations of SSDs have used even things like nvme drives and it's also got super high endurance now according to the actual tests that people have been running on the 600 feet 900 P sorry the 600 P is the crappy little budget one it's up to seven times faster than competing nvme drives now in the actual quoted performance figures from Intel seem like it's seven times faster because the reads are quoted at 2,500 megabytes per second and the rides at 2,000 where the 960 Pro is at like three thousand and two thousand something the sequinned sequential reads and writes are quite a bit faster on the 900p though but apparently in actual test scenarios the the 900p massively outperforms current nvme drives and it's going to do so forever basically because 3d xpoint memory is like the most enduring memory of all time so that's quite exciting if you can afford it because it's hugely expensive anyway if you enjoyed this video please do
