The 10th Generation iPad: Everything We Know So Far
Apple has been teasing its next-generation iPad for some time now, and we finally have a better idea of what to expect from this highly anticipated device. As expected, the new iPad will boast an impressive set of features, including a sleek and modern design that's sure to turn heads.
The new iPad's design is one of the most significant upgrades it brings to the table. Gone are the days of the traditional iPad shape, replaced by a more compact and squared-off design that's reminiscent of the Apple Watch. This new design language will undoubtedly make a statement, and we can't wait to see how it all comes together in practice.
One of the biggest advantages of this new design is its compatibility with existing accessories. Unfortunately, however, this means that third-party cases like the popular Slim Folio Keyboard Case won't work with the new iPad. It's unclear whether Apple will release a new version of the Sling Folio case that works with the 10th generation iPad, but for now, it looks like you'll have to bid farewell to your trusty old keyboard case.
In terms of hardware specifications, we can expect some significant upgrades over the previous model. While details are still scarce, rumors suggest that the new iPad will feature a faster processor and more storage options than its predecessor. Specifically, we're expecting at least 128GB of storage as standard, with a top-end model featuring up to 256GB.
The new iPad is also expected to support the Apple Pencil 2, which means you can expect some exciting new features and capabilities in the world of digital art and creativity. As always, these will be available for purchase separately or bundled together with other accessories.
In terms of price, things are looking a bit more complicated. The 9th generation iPad currently starts at $329, but we're expecting prices to rise when the new model is released. In fact, some rumors suggest that the starting price could climb as high as $379. This might be a bit steep for some budgets, but with all the features and capabilities on offer, it's likely that this will remain one of Apple's most popular models.
As we approach the release date for the new iPad, it's worth noting that Apple has two major events left to go before then. First up is its September event, where we can expect to see the latest Apple Watch and iPhone models revealed. Following that, in late October or early November, we'll be treated to a Mac and iPad event, which will no doubt feature a brand-new iPad Pro alongside the 10th generation model.
The release date for the new iPad is expected to land sometime in late October or early November, with pre-orders kicking off shortly after. With deliveries following shortly thereafter, this means that fans of Apple's latest offerings can expect their new iPad to arrive at their doorstep by mid-to-late November.
We're excited to get our hands on the new 10th generation iPad as soon as possible and put it through its paces. With all the features and capabilities on offer, we have no doubt that this will be one of Apple's most popular models for years to come.
In conclusion, with its sleek design, impressive hardware specifications, and compatibility with existing accessories, the 10th generation iPad is shaping up to be an exciting new device. While prices may be a bit steeper than expected, we believe that the value on offer will make this worth every penny.
Shout out to Felipe for writing this Nine to Five article that inspired this video. If you guys do want to take a quick read of that article, I'll link it down below. But that's gonna do it for this video - leave a little dolphin in the comments down below if you made it to the end, and let me know in the comments whether or not you're excited about the 10th generation iPad. Are you guys in the space for a new iPad, or do you go with an iPad Air or Mini? Let me know!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso it looks like apple's entry-level ipad the 9th generation ipad which released in september of 2021 is going to be getting a much needed update so here's everything that we know about the 10th generation ipad and also why i think this ipad is gonna be the ipad for 99 of ipad users but let's talk about it so currently in apple's ipad lineup the only ipad that still has the same form factor in design language as the original 2010 ipad is that entry level 329 9th generation ipad over the last 10 years apple's kind of been iterating on their ipad lineup but they kept this one in that entry level silo and every single year they usually just update the internal chip you know maybe every two years they increase the screen size so i think we went from 9.7 inches to now 10.2 inches in screen size and then obviously we got rid of the home button for the touch id home button but still there is kind of a physical button and it's the last one in ipad's lineup that looks anything like the original one but now 12 years later it looks like that's finally going to change so let's talk about what we're going to expect in terms of internal changes for this ipad before we talk about the new redesign so firstly it should be going from the a13 bionic to the a14 bionic and currently the a14 bionic chip sits in the iphone 12 and the ipad air 4 not the ipad air 5 but the ipad r4 so the a14 is a very capable chip it's not going to have crazy gains compared to the a13 bionic you know expect about a 30 bump in performance and you know gpu and cpu performance but overall it's still just gonna have four gigs of ram on that a14 bionic but again keep in mind this is the entry-level ipad so 329 right now but the a14 will be coming to the 10th generation entry-level ipad one thing to take note of and something that you probably should not expect with this ipad which is kind of you know on the sadder side because if stage manager was brought over to this ipad and who knows apple might wow us with the a14 bionic being able to just use stage manager on four gigs of ram but as of right now you need an m1 processor in your ipad to use something like stage manager and it's because the m1 processor comes with eight gigs of unified memory as a baseline and that is apparently what stage manager needs in order to run so this 10th generation ipad will not be getting stage manager but still at 329 dollars it won't be too much to complain about because not a lot of people will hey know what stage manager even is and b will have any real use for it at that entry level ipad and again this being apple's entry level ipad this is again the only ipad that does not actually have 5g capability in terms of cellular capability right now if you go to apple's website and buy yourself a brand new 9th generation ipad with data you can only get 4g lte on it so with the new 10th generation the 2022 ipad we should be getting 5g capabilities in there but do expect that also to come with a price hike currently it's about 120 to upgrade to a cellular version of the 9th generation ipad but the moment apple started to kick in 5g capable ipads it's actually a 200 upgrade which is what we see with the ipad pros the m1 ipad air and also the ipad mini with 5g so in terms of internal hardware we will be getting like i said the 5g capability and the a14 bionic but now let's talk about the external hardware because this is where things are going to get you know pretty nice in terms of how it's going to unify the entire ipad lineup so firstly we should be getting usbc on this 10th generation ipad which is going to be amazing lightning will be gone completely from the ipad lineup which is what we're kind of moving towards because again with the eu legislation that's coming forward in the video that i mentioned before usbc will be coming to all things including iphones and all apple accessories moving forward but probably in the later end of 2023 but it's nice that apple will be removing the lightning cable or the lightning port from the 9chan ipad and going full usbc which is going to open up a lot of doors especially in the education space right dongle's going to be about to be used you can you know display to a secondary monitor without having to use you know a hdmi to lightning adapter which is kind of obsolete so you can now use you know those 12 in one usb c hubs that we're always talking about or the 201 usb c hubs which have like ethernet headphone jack micro sd card readers and everything in between so getting a usb c port on the 10th generation ipad is gonna be a game changer for a lot of people especially at that price point and since we're now going full uspc and the apple pencil gen one charges via lightning it's safe to say that we should be adopting the apple pencil 2 with this new 10th generation ipad i know some renders online about this redesign by my smart price which again brings that new industrial and kind of boxy design that we first got with the 2018 ipad pro and it's going to be coming over to the 10th generation ipad which is going to be a really nice redesign at that price point so we will be able to charge the apple pencil 2 the same way we can charge it on the ipad mini ipad air and ipad pro which is magnetically wirelessly charging the apple pencil tube right on the 10th generation ipad but according to the schematics and the renders the ipad 10 generation should be a little bit thinner than the ipad 9th generation which is going to be a great thing to have as well to fit in that apple pencil too which is going to be great and then also on the rear we're still gonna be having only one camera sensor but it's gonna have a protrusion it's gonna kind of stick out a little bit with the ipad pro from 2018 and also the ipad mini but it looks a little bit more like an iphone 10 or 10s camera system so it will be pill shaped it's going to be vertically pill shaped but i think the bottom it's not for a second camera it's going to be for the flash so that is going to be coming to that 10th generation ipad which again the more the merrier on the hardware side but now let's talk about the display of this new ipad because the front side of this ipad with this industrial design is going to be a little bit different than what we originally expected so the actual screen text the pixel density the brightness the color gamut that's all going to remain exactly the same no upgrades to maybe a higher pixel density or a mini led display or 120 hertz again this is a entry level ipad so none of that is going to come to this ipad because that will just increase the price and probably make it more expensive than something like the ipad mini but what we are going to be seeing is a nice little bump up in screen size from 10.2 to probably 10.5 inches which is not going to be a drastic difference but the extra 0.3 inches could go a long way depending on what type of software and what applications you're using on a daily basis so it's gonna be a little bit slimmer in terms of full width of the hardware but the screen size being a little bit larger but if you notice in those images the actual bezels will not be uniform like they are on the rest of the ipad lineup the actual front of the ipad is going to have a very familiar kind of face to it because we're still going to be keeping the touch id home button on the front so the top and bottom bezels will be symmetrical but a little bit thicker than the right and left side bezels which will also be symmetrical but a lot thinner because it's going to still have that same screen and front design language as the ipad 9th generation has had for the last 10 years so expect it to have that industrial squared off design but with the front side still having the home button and the larger bezels on the forehead and on the chin so now we got all the hardware updates and upgrades out of the way let's talk about pricing and storage capacity so apple will sell this at the 64 gig and 256 gigabyte variant which again this is an entry-level ipad and probably gonna be used in education space a lot with icloud so having 64 gigs isn't the end of the world like i probably wouldn't be doing crazy stuff on this like editing video but if you do want a little extra space 256 is the way to go and you probably end up spending an extra 150 for that increase in storage capacity but in terms of price right now the 9th generation sits at around 329 dollars you can get it from the education store for 279 which for that ipad alone is a great price but with all the inflation going on and everything kind of increasing in price i wouldn't be surprised to see the starting price of this go up about 50 to 379 dollars and you'll get it for 329 through the education store if you have that ability to purchase it through the education store so keep that in mind you might get a 50 increase and it should be warranted because it will have a completely new design and it will have internal specs which are going to be upgraded along the way so 379 dollars for the tension ipad doesn't really annoy me too much but again i wish it started with 128 gigs and not 64 gigs and then lastly let's talk about accessories so like i mentioned this should work with the apple pencil 2 but i think it's gonna take a page out of what the ipad mini is doing so right now with the ninth generation ipad you can get the slim folio keyboard case because it does have the three pin connectors but in the renders that you saw there aren't any pin connectors on the rear of this ipad which again is a little bit baffling especially if it's gonna be in the education sector as a laptop replacement or computer replacement to be handed out to a lot of kids so not having those three pink connectors makes me think that maybe apple is either working on a bluetooth keyboard case or maybe they think third-party manufacturers will be making keyboard cases for this but as of right now i don't know if apple's going to be making a first-party slim folio keyboard case for this 10th generation ipad maybe they'll go back to the sling folio that they gave us back with the 2018 ipad pro which had the two viewing angles but again who knows because as of right now there's no indication that we're gonna get a three pin connector for this tenth generation ipad which would be kind of disappointing but let's see what they actually do when it does come time to release this 10th generation ipad but i'll let you know ahead of time that the slimfolio keyboard case that you were using with your 9th gen ipad 8th gen and 7th gen ipad will not work with this new redesign because of the squared off design the industrial upgrade in terms of the hardware design it will not work so get ready to either sell that off or just put it in a storage drawer so in terms of release date for this ipad apple still has two events left to go for the remainder of this year they have their september event which they'll announce the new apple watch and the new iphones and then usually around late october and early november they'll have their like mac and ipad event which we should be getting a new ipad pro but then also that is when we think ipad os 16 because ipad os 16 is supposed to be delayed into you know with that price point the new design and then all the peripherals that'll eventually start working with it especially through third-party manufacturers it's going to be hard because with 500 you can get a nice little computer setup with this new 10th generation ipad but that's going to do for this video everybody if you want to watch some more videos like this click on one of these two videos right here but until next time i'm fernando and i'm out of here peaceso it looks like apple's entry-level ipad the 9th generation ipad which released in september of 2021 is going to be getting
