The Endless Quest for Fashion Inspiration: A Journey Through Outfits and Accessories
Did you ever wonder why humans always feel the need to point out when things rhyme that is not important anyway? Maybe we're just wired to appreciate a good rhyme, but sometimes it's hard to ignore. Take pairing a turtleneck under your dress, for instance. I know we already discussed this at the beginning of our video, but something about pairing a standalone fancy dress with a turtleneck just really loves it. Almost feels wrong like they shouldn't go together because one is fancy and one is casual, but at the same time, it also feels so right. Next to you could take any jeans, nice top, and plain jacket with some heels, this is kind of a cheater's way to make a warm yet fancy outfit. In that, the outfit itself is like decently casual, but if you ever catch me in heels, you know I mean business or I guess I should say a fanciness because I'm going out somewhere.
Last year, pairing a turtleneck under your dress became a thing, and it's still going strong. It's not just limited to fancy dresses; you can pair it with other tops and jackets too. The key is to balance the look and make sure it doesn't feel like an awkward mishmash of styles. A see-through top paired with a bralette is automatically a little scandalous yet warm, and screams for a night out. This isn't the best example because mine is short-sleeved, but there are tons of long-sleeve versions of this outfit that you could do.
To fight the sea of black wear in winter, we can introduce some fun and colorful pants to our wardrobe. I've been loving colored cargo pants all year round, and winter is no exception. You can pair them with a sweatshirt, a t-shirt, a crop top, or jackets in all scenarios, and you look fun, colorful, bold, and hopefully warm too.
Dressing pants are another great way to break up our winter fashion. They're not the most colorful but are fun and versatile. Most importantly, they aren't jeans, which can be a bit dull at times. Pair them with some black and a denim jacket or go full monochrome for a nice yet everyday look.
For those of us who have only carried around their phone in our back pocket for years, carrying around a purse is a whole new world. Whether or not you actually need to put anything in your purse, it can still be worn as an accessory. I absolutely love this all-black look with these very almost neon pops of color in the purse and the t-shirts gives me very slithering day out vibes.
This outfit is literally the opposite; the little pig purse mixed with the pale green and buttoned-up shirt creates a really adorable book. Fun fact: I got this purse in 2008 as a birthday gift, and when I thought it was blue and white like you probably think it is right now, but I didn't realize until way later that the white is packaging.
Another way to use your purse as an accessory is by matching it with your top. Okay, pause for small story time; this is a Michael Kors purse which you know is a pretty nice purse and when I got it, I thought it was blue and white like you probably think it is right now but I didn't realize until way later that the white is packaging. The purse is just blue anyway, I kept the white packaging in so I can pretend like I'm not an idiot for not realizing that sooner because I like it way better with the white.
You could also use your Polaroid camera bag as a purse because why not? You have to be a hipster piece of trash like me to own a polaroid and a polaroid purse, but they're really cute. Finally, I don't really love this outfit, but we may be like one or two outfits shy of 50 so I'm just throwing this one in so we can add another outfit to our video. I promise there are more good ones coming.
For our final category, I don't know what the heck these outfits are alright; jumping into this outfit screams patterns stripes plus floral. You know why not? In all seriousness, I actually oddly like this outfit; it makes me feel like after two hours of scrolling, I've landed on the private school side of TicTok aka rich talk and I'm here for it.
Don't have a jacket or a blazer well then you probably don't own a robe either but if you did you could wear it undone as a jacket. Try pairing a summery crop button-up over a turtleneck so you can re-wear your summer crop button-ups all winter long, and lastly, in this literally 1195 word essay of a video yes I counted I somehow managed to film and edit a 14-minute video without realizing till this very moment that in a disappointing spiral of events I only filmed 49 outfits so all I'm left with is a bunch of unedited footage.
Despite the chaos that ensued, our journey through outfits and accessories has been an incredible one. We've discovered new ways to style old favorites, learned how to balance contrasting styles, and even found creative ways to use our purses as accessories. Who knows what's next? Maybe we'll start a trend or maybe we'll just keep on exploring the endless possibilities of fashion inspiration.
