Huawei Watch First Look

Introducing the Huawei Watch: A Round-Faced Smartwatch with Android Wear

As I'm here at MWC 2015, I'm excited to show you one of the first Android Wear watches to feature a round face. It's called the Huawei Watch, and as you can see, it's currently on my wrist. The watch has a sleek design that blends in with other watches out there, but what catches your attention is the 1.4-inch round AMOLED display that comes in at 400 x 400 resolution. This makes it a little sharper than other Android Wear watches with a similar shape.

The display is complemented by Sapphire Crystal technology, which is really nice to see on a watch. However, what's underneath the surface is where things get interesting. The Huawei Watch runs on Android Wear, and it comes with some of Huawei's own additions, such as a customizable watch face that offers over 40 different types. From there, you can expect the usual Android Wear experience, but with some added functionality courtesy of Huawei.

The case measures around 42 millimeters and is available in several color options, including gold, black, and silver. The gold edition I'm wearing comes with a leather strap that has a nice textured look to it and is made from genuine leather. However, the gold has a slightly different hue to it, almost like rose gold, which is an interesting touch. The black and silver editions are also available, and they can come with either leather or metal bracelets.

One of the things I want to highlight is the size of the watch bands and bracelets. They measure 18 millimeters in size, which is not too big as to alienate people with smaller wrists. However, for those who prefer a more classic look, this will be just right. The design of the watch is one that blends in rather than trying to stand out, which I think is a refreshing approach.

The hardware on the Huawei Watch includes a heart rate monitor on the back, allowing you to track your fitness and get some basic health metrics. The button on the unit is a single button, but it's placed slightly off-center, which gives the watch a unique look. This small detail might seem insignificant, but it does contribute to the overall aesthetic of the watch.

Overall, I'm excited to see Huawei entering the smartwatch market with this round-faced Android Wear watch. It's clear that they've put thought into designing a watch that blends in rather than standing out, while still offering some unique features and functionality underneath. As we wait for our own unit to arrive, I encourage you all to stay tuned for our coverage of MWC 2015, where we'll be bringing you the latest news and updates from the show. makes this more of a watch that just happens to have some smart capabilities underneath on the unit itself the hardware includes a heart rate monitor on the back of it that will allow you to have a little bit of fitness tracking in there as android watches all tend to have but the button the single button on the unit is a little bit off center and it does feel pretty nice on there but it's a very small detail that actually does give this watch a little bit of unique look ultimately this is an android wear watch but it's very nice to see that huawei is putting one out there and they've sort of paid it forward a little bit by creating a design that's not trying too hard to show off that it is a smart watch rather it's trying to really blend in with a lot of the watches out there
