**A Conversation with F1 Drivers: McLaren and More**
In a recent conversation, two Formula 1 drivers shared their experiences and opinions on various topics related to the sport. The discussion was lighthearted and humorous, with both drivers offering insightful perspectives on everything from their favorite F1 cars to their thoughts on which Top Gear presenter would make the best F1 driver.
The conversation began with a question about the McLaren F1 car that one of the drivers had driven. "I personally would put Hulkenberg in it," said one of the drivers, "Yeah, okay." The topic quickly shifted to discussing the best F1 car each driver had ever driven. "I think I was a bit more fortunate than you in that respect," said one driver, "in that I got to drive actual world championship winning cars light corners and everything yeah they did they were quick on a straight and they really hugged the road and it made me look good." The other driver chimed in, saying "I think the Williams 95 was my favorite car um the combination of the tires at that time the wide track it was three liter engines at that point so we dropped off from three and a half liters they didn't quite have the same horsepower but a lot of torque relative to the formula that I raced at the end which is the current formula the 2.4 v8 um and it was just a very responsive car you know the more the harder you pushed the more you got response from the actual vehicle so see."
**The 1995 Williams Car**
One driver's favorite F1 car was indeed the Williams 95, which he described as "very responsive". The combination of tires, track width, and engine power made it a formidable racing machine. In contrast, the other driver mentioned that the 1998 McLaren car had too much understeer, making it difficult to handle at low speeds.
**Benetton B192**
The conversation also touched on the Benetton B192, which one of the drivers described as "very easy" to drive. The question was asked whether this car would be a suitable choice for the championship, and both drivers agreed that if everyone had the same car, it's difficult to predict who would win.
**Top Gear**
A question from Luke sparked a discussion about what it would take for someone to become an F1 driver. One of the drivers answered "I think there are a few drivers that are in the super league you know they're all good drivers in Formula one there's no question but there are a few exceptional drivers and in my view uh Sebastian Vettel Lewis Hamilton uh Fernando Alonso sit in that super group." The other driver agreed, saying "I agree with you completely but it would depend on a number of other factors as to which one of those I think would win the race."
**Caravans**
A question from Joe David led to a discussion about caravans. One of the drivers revealed that they have owned motor caravans for several years and are currently in the market again due to competing in the DTM championship.
**Top Gear Presenters as F1 Drivers**
The conversation ended with a humorous topic: which Top Gear presenter would make the best F1 driver? The drivers all agreed that none of them could drive sheep, but they speculated on who might be the most capable behind the wheel. Richard Hammond was mentioned as potentially being reliable and steady, while Jeremy Clarkson's driving style was deemed too unpredictable.
**The Quickest Driver**
Throughout the conversation, one theme emerged: speed is crucial in F1. The drivers discussed how important it is to have a quick car, and each emphasized their own strengths in this regard. In the end, the question was posed: what makes someone the best F1 driver? The answer, according to the drivers, is often the "pocket rocket" – a small, powerful engine that allows for exceptional weight distribution.

to get used to pronouncing these names would make a good replacement well i think he would he's a he's a one seasonal grand prix driver did a solid job at williams clearly not good enough for williams to want to keep him over maldonado but um and it's harry dash yeah the money that probably helped but uh yeah nico would make a good replacement there's a number of good drivers out there but there's it's not just about being a good driver yeah i think they'll it's a risk for them if they go with a bruno senate it'd be nice to see him get a chance actually bruno but to bruno senna you know and vitaly petrov as a combo i think you're going to need a bit more experience than that uh they'll look at hydefell but he's you know exactly what you're going to get with nick don't you just a very solid performance or a dela rosa type thing although he's locked into mclaren now i personally would put hulkenberg in it yeah okay from nemesis child what was the best f1 car you both drove i think i was a bit more fortunate than you in that respect in that i got to drive actual world championship winning cars light corners and everything yeah they did they were quick on a straight and they really had like a second a lap in your pocket too much understeer really it was a quick car but low speed it had understeer the the way it was set up to maximize the aero package at that time you just couldn't get it around a slow corner and that was frustrating so the 95 car had a good combination of mechanical and aero have you finished over to you benetton b192 uh easily for me really it's the only only sensible guy which you have in formula one 1992. just in case people at home don't know what the b19.3464 yeah did you ever know the numbers of your and it cars doesn't interest me at all you know what these new cars are called and i never knew and people come up to me i won a lot of races for jaguar and they go do it how do you compare the xjr9 with the xcr12 i have no idea they just went fast or they weren't fast no i don't even know which year they were from anyway i remember the b192 clearly a question from luke if everyone had the same car who would win the championship that's alonso and vettel i agree with you completely but it would depend on a number of other factors as to which one of those i think would win the race okay question from joe david do you really own and like caravans and are you ready for the top gear lads to hunt you down well i do and i have owned motor caravans for several years and i'm in the market again because i'm competing in the dtm championship and i just prefer to stay at the track and anyone who's stayed in a caravan or a motor caravan gets it anyone who hasn't might well turn their nose up at it and pretend that why would you ever want to do that around and i being stuck behind the top of your team have stayed in caravans in the past and there is photographic evidence out there so although it's a very funny um and sort of there's over a million people in the caravan club in the uk it's a very very big club you learn something new every day okay big land owners actually the caravan club uh sorry which of the three top gear presenters would make the best f1 driver well it strikes me that none of them could drive sheep to be honest or a nail into a piece of wood so um richard hammond couldn't get their renault to go could he wouldn't talk like go away james would be nice and steady i think wouldn't you know reliable if so if you wanted to get your car home uh i'm not sure jeremy does jeremy do all that sliding around is that him or do they cut cut and paste him into that is it here he wouldn't fit do you think it's him he wouldn't fit physically he wouldn't fit and eagle-wise there wouldn't be enough room for him in the pit lane i think they all look pretty handy drivers actually but what is it about would make the best f1 driver would make the best f1 driver cry or what what what do we mean on that question well i guess the quickest the most successful has got to be the pocket rocket you could package them yeah he's good down the straights yeah small important for weight distribution so he's probably going to be richard we think richarda question from safwan batan after robert cubit says horrible accidents we all wish him all the best well we agree with that do you think nico hunk
