iOS 17 Beta Release and Timeline
There is going to be some weird release times around these areas for both beta 2 and beta 3 due to it being a holiday weekend, specifically July 4th. This means that we should keep an eye out for potential delays in the release schedule.
As far as the first public beta goes, we usually see that after beta 3 like the following week after beta 3. So if we get beta 2 next week and then beta 3 on the week of July 3rd, it means that we should see the first public beta right here on July 10th because that is on a Monday which is when Apple usually releases the public betas.
iOS 16 and Upcoming Release
I know you guys don't care about iOS 16 as much anymore now that iOS 17 is out, but we could see a new public release as early as next week with iOS 16.5.1. This would be an early release, and I mentioned in my iOS 16.6 beta 3 video earlier this week that you might have missed it because it was a very boring update.
However, if we don't see it next week, we're probably not going to see it at all. Apple's just going to put everything into iOS 16.6, which will also likely drop in early July.
Apple News and Updates
Let's talk about some other Apple news that happened this past week. Starting in August, Apple is saying that they're no longer going to allow customers to purchase Sim-free iPhone models using Apple card financing. This means that instead, customers will have to have a carrier connection with Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.
This is a big deal because I buy my iPhones Sim-free, and this change could be significant for a lot of people. Additionally, the first internal build of Vision OS 1.0 was published on Friday. This is just an internal build, so it's nothing that we can download yet, but it's interesting to see Apple pushing out updates just in time for iOS 17 beta 2.
iOS 16.6 Beta 3
The latest update to iOS 16.6 beta 3 was released this week, and it was so boring that I hardly even remembered to include it in this video because there's really nothing going on in 16.6 as a matter of fact. I may not even make another video for 16.6 until it gets pushed out to the public.
This is kind of where we're at with those 16.6 updates, and I normally don't do this, but that's just how things are right now.
Reddit and Apollo
The latest news involves Reddit and their stance against third-party client Apollo. The company is not backing down on their decision to force the developer to pay $20 million to stay operational. This has been a major issue for weeks, with many subreddits still dark after the initial 48 hours that they agreed upon.
What makes this even worse is that the CEO has said multiple times that they are not backing down. They're essentially calling everyone "childish" for participating in this and threatening moderators into opening their subreddits back up to the public.
This is an absolute mess, especially since Reddit's IPO is coming up soon. It's clear that the CEO is only thinking about money and not listening to the community. This is ironic, given that Reddit is quite literally a big community, and they should be listening to it more than not.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is Brandon and I've been using iOS 17 beta 1 on my primary device for the past two weeks and while I tried not to be so negative in last week's follow-up review things have gotten even worse this week but don't panic not yet because we have even more new features and changes to make up for those issues so in this video we're going to discuss the ongoing issues with iOS 17 beta 1 those spicy new features when to expect the next release and much more okay so let's start off with the Positive let's start by talking about some additional iOS 17 features and changes because we have even more to cover yes I've already shown you more than 200 new changes in this update but I have found even more so first off I want to talk about what you see here on the contacts widget on the home screen so before if somebody was driving it would show a little driving Emoji next to their name but now it looks like it also shows when somebody is walking and I've not seen this before so this could have been an iOS 16 but I've never seen it you can see it right there next to Tim Cook's head also new in iOS 17 the subject where you can pull it from the background now gets outlined from a simple swipe up so you can see I have IOS 610 on the left iOS 17 on the right take a look at this it will now outline the subject and it even shows you know who it might be right down there in the bottom left hand corner before an iOS 16 you'd have to kind of tap on it and hold and then it would initiate the feature where you can remove the background but now it kind of does it for you and you can easily drag it like so staying in the photos application you will notice that we have a new visual lookup icon and a new kind of reference point for Siri and visual lookup for auto symbols so now for like hazard lights or you know any type of other thing inside of a car that may be able to be detected by Siri you can see that now so Auto symbol this one it's not very accurate it says seat belt and you know recirculated air so I guess it's talking about AC but I really see that anywhere and it's kind of has an outline around the steering wheel so this is not perfect yet this is a new introduction in iOS 17 but pretty cool that that's there I've seen it working better with like hazard lights and things like that but it does not work on every photo I've tried it in many photos and it only works on very few so I would assume that this will get better as the betas go on and while I was searching for that last feature that I just showed you I searched for car and I noticed a new feature in videos when you search for car or anything that would be visual lookup you will notice now in the bottom it shows it will take you directly to that part in the video where a car is detected and it will be in yellow if you open up a live photo and click on the drop down right here you will notice that we have new glyph icons next to each one of these effects so live Loop balance log exposure and off all have new glyph icons now to the right all right here's something I've never done in a video I'm going to change the passcode for my device so we're going to go down here here I'm going to change a passcode because there's a new feature in iOS 17 that I talked about before but I want to show you guys how it works so we're going to change my password to ones instead of zeros and take a look at this after I set my new passcode I'll be able to use my old passcode for a full 72 hours so it even says right here that for the next 72 hours your previous passcode can be used to reset your new passcode if you forget it now if you do not want that you can turn that off by expiring the previous passcode so I'll show you how this works so basically I'll be able to put in two passwords you know and they'll both work basically to get into my device so I can try the zeros and that okay so I guess that doesn't get in I don't know why it's it said it would get me in so let's try this out here so what's interesting here is that I'm trying to bring up the forgot passcode screen and it's basically not letting me because I'm typing in the old passcode so I'm going to try some other digits and there we go so what's interesting is that you could use the old passcode and it will not lock you out so if we tap on forgot passcode now after you get iPhone unavailable you have this button right here that says try passcode reset and it says enter your previous passcode to access this device and create a new passcode so now once we'll enter the zeros and now you can see it worked and we can now enter our new passcode and I'm not sure if I even mentioned this in a previous video but if I didn't these glyph icons in the Apple ID section are also new these top ones right here for your personal information there's another new setting inside of safari that I never covered in my initial what's new video and this has to do with your search engine for a private tab or a private window you can see that now in iOS 17 you get the ability to change the search engine if you're in a private window so of course for the regular you know non-inccognito it's Google but if you wanted to change it to something else like DuckDuckGo for example you can now change that in your default search engine changes based on which kind of mode you're in in Safari so one of the most underrated features and changes that I found that came to iOS 17 seems to just simply not be working or maybe just not be exactly what I expected and that is this widget right here that is the shortcuts widget now if you're wondering why is that such a big deal to me well because I thought this would give us the ability to launch applications from our lock screen without needing a third-party application like there are a ton of in the App Store but you can see I have a shortcut right there and when I tap on that it's not interactive it just takes me into the shortcuts application and worse off it doesn't even take me to the specific shortcut that I selected so I would imagine this is a bug because you are able to choose so if we go to customize here and then go to this widget and then tap on it again you can choose the shortcut you want you know that widget to lead to but it just simply does not lead it to that specific shortcut yet so it looks like this is broken in beta 1 but hopefully by the time beta 2 rolls around and especially the final release we'll be able to launch applications from the lock screen natively with the shortcuts widget it and something else new that I just noticed is the blue done button up there in the top right I believe that was just the same color as cancel in iOS 16. also for video effects and FaceTime you now have a slider so if I go to my studio light for example and tap on these three dots you have a slider for the intensity so if you want the studio light to be more or less intense you can now choose how that is you can see a live preview up there in the card and same with portrait if you don't want the blur to be as significant if you don't want the depth to be as significant you can change all of that right there now a feature I've been using a lot for the past week or so is inside of screen time and then screen distance so this is a new feature in iOS 17 that is aimed to help reduce eye strain and it really was a wake-up call for me that I hold my phone way too close to my face pretty much at all times during the day and this actually got so annoying I guess because I just have such a bad habit of keeping that phone close to my face I guess my vision is just going downhill but anyways this is quite annoying because it doesn't really give you a warning when it's coming up so I'll show you kind of you know how that is throughout this video I'll kind of get my face a little bit close so I can show you how it works but it basically just interrupts you so like if you're in the middle of texting somebody if you're in the middle of a game if you're in the middle of a FaceTime call it's gonna pop up and basically just cancel out whatever you were doing and you have to just sit there and watch it and then just hit OK it kind of just interrupts you I just wish there was some sort of way to disable it in certain applications but I get it it's a good feature for you know helping reduce eye strain and it's a cool feature especially for children to reduce the risk of myopia but uh yeah that's a new feature that I I hope there's some tweaks to because it goes off way too often and there needs to be some white listed apps down here I did also want to touch on the new airpods features the new airpods beta features here in iOS 17 so to get this you do have to have the beta on your airpods themselves and in order to do that you do need to plug up your phone to your computer which has xcode installed and then once you have that you'll be able to get the beta want to enable developer mode you'll be able to get the beta for the airpods and this update actually includes quite a few new features so you can see the big one here is going to be adaptive audio so it says adaptive noise control dynamically adjusts external noise you are exposed to there's also personalized volume which adjusts the volume of media in response to your environments and then there's conversation awareness which switches to transparency mode and reduces media volume when you start speaking to other people so I'm just going to pull one of these out of here so you can see what this looks like I'm kind of emulating it being in my ear with my hand here but if you 3D press or haptic press here on at the airpods you will notice down in the bottom we have some new options there so we have noise control it is now set to noise cancellation but you can set it to Adaptive right there we have this colorful little glyph icon for that and then you also have conversation awareness you could turn that on or off right there as well you have the option for both of those there's nothing new here and the spatial tracking or spatial audio but you can see the new one there for adaptive audio now I've used this for the past week and I have to say it's cool I I do notice the difference but sometimes it can be quite annoying because it reduces my volume when I do not want it to be reduced and I've noticed that my volume just randomly goes down at certain parts of the day I'm not sure if it's hearing you know maybe me singing a song and it's thinking I'm talking to somebody I'm not sure but these features are you can definitely tell they're in beta I love the idea of it but you can definitely tell they are in beta and if I go into my settings here you will see that we also have those settings here for noise control you'll see the new one there is adaptive now I will say the one thing I really like in this airpods beta update is this right here to mute and unmute I've used this a ton of times I did not think this was going to be as useful as it actually is this allows you to just press on the stem to mute or unmute yourself on a call and again I've used that several times but for me person personally right now on my main device I have both of these deselected at all times just because they kind of mess with my audio when I do not want them being messed with now granted I haven't worn these out in public yet you know and actually talked to like a cashier or anything I probably should do that and I will do that before the official version comes out but for now I have to have these disabled until it improves you'll also notice that Shazam for song recognition is now in the dynamic Island so you can see it populates right there it's no longer this notification it is right there in the dynamic Island and when it's listening you can see it has a little effect right here which is pretty neat here's another feature that I keep meaning to include in these videos but I keep forgetting the unlocking watch with iPhone is now a little pop out in the dynamic Island instead of a notification and you can see the glyphs are new it just looks way better than it did before all right so now let's talk about the bugs because again I've had quite a few bugs here in iOS 17 beta 1. now it's not like they were unexpected it's not like you know I'm complaining about these bugs I understand it's a beta hey I knew what I was getting myself into but it's my job to report in these bugs while also reporting them inside of the feedback application so make sure you are reporting your bugs in the feedback app but anyway the the things that have been bothering me a lot for the past week have been related to the dynamic Island so for example Waze for some reason way specifically stays in my Dynamic Island long long after it is completely closed like the little blue location stays in my Dynamic Island for the rest of the day if I use it one time and even into the next day so that happens also with airdrop for some reason it even happened on this device here my 14 pro Max the airdrop will just stay in the dynamic Island long long after the airdrop has completed like hours after and if you try to remove it it goes away but then it comes right back so it seems like there's a lot of issues with you know the location services and airdrop just staying in the dynamic island of course this good old bug is still here if I go into sleep mode of course it Three Springs my device this is just happening every single day and night I've just come to accept it at this point every night when I go to sleep I know my phone is going to restring and then it says my system experience to crash and then it just re-springs again so it's just a mess and it happens every night so I'm used to it but I've tried recreating the focus mode I've tried multiple things and it just seems to be an issue specifically on my 14 pro it doesn't happen on this device like if I go out of it in this device you can see nothing happens it's just my 14 pro for some reason I'm sure it will be resolved in beta 2. if not I may just have to completely do you know a reset all settings and then this issue happened to me again mail just simply did not load I just showed a bunch of white boxes this looks like I you know covered this up and censored it but I didn't this is just what it looks like it's just all white and we have these little arrows but it does not show me any data this only happened to me once this week so that's an improvement now I will say that I removed the third party mail app spark because that was draining my battery so I have to rely on mail now and it's just not working the best however some good news is that that the Tesla app started working again so it was not a Bluetooth issue I had to delete the Tesla app and reinstall it re-sign in and reconnect it to my car for the phone to work as the key again so that's good news it wasn't an issue with Bluetooth thankfully now of course the bug inside of the Music settings is still there if you try to go into the music section inside of your settings after enabling Crossfade that will crash and a lot of people have said oh can't you get into it via Siri or can't you get into it another way no you can't I've tried getting in there through Siri the only way to get into there is to just do a reset all settings and then you will have Crossfade disabled and then the next time you go to enable cross play or Crossfade it's the same thing's gonna happen your settings are going to crash again and then something that's popular amongst you guys and myself is that music just randomly stops playing in apple music it happens like at least once an hour for me yes I listen to music literally like all day and my airpods Max so I noticed these things so yeah I just randomly stops playing at least like once per hour now aside from all the bugs I have to say that the performance on iOS 17 just overall just raw not including UI ux bugs is actually pretty good it's really not bad at all especially compared to previous betas now I do still think the iOS 16 was better I know a lot of people had issues with iOS 16 but for me iOS 17 is just a little bit worse in terms of even performance but I still don't think it's bad it can definitely be worse now where it does get really bad and I don't think it could get any worse is the battery life the battery life is still absolutely abysmal on every device I've tested this on even this 14 pro Max you guys might need to go back and check on what this battery was at the beginning of this video because I feel like it's just running down quicker than usual so let me pull up my battery charts here yeah I mean just just look at this I mean when I'm asleep you can see every time things are using my battery I don't understand I do not have any time any point during the day where my device is not being used at you know either in the background around while Idol or just actively so all of that is mainly just mail again photos weather and Tesla and then right here is just mail you'll notice a trend with this is It's always male male is always one of the culprits for battery drain here and beta one and I've reported that in feedback I really cannot wait for Apple to fix the idle drain for the mail application but yeah battery life again just terrible and here's my last 10 days you can see a ton of screen idle time that is like you know more than triple with my average time it usually is my idle time is usually like two hours and as far as other devices go well right on cue watch OS 10 battery life has also been really bad on in my Apple watch Ultra now it did take me a little bit longer to notice it on the ultra just because battery life is so good on this thing you know it lasts me a couple days uh but yeah battery life has drained significantly faster than it was on watch OS 9. that's to be expected but uh I'm just kind of surprised to see such bad battery life on the Apple watch Ultra the first time I've kind of experienced not getting two full days out of it all right now let's talk about what to expect next from Apple so next up is going to be iOS 17 beta 2 and that should be coming next week so the week of June 19th and now keep in mind June 19th is a holiday so it's Juneteenth so we're not going to see anything on Monday but Apple could release that second beta on Tuesday the 20th or Wednesday the 21st and then the third developer beta will most likely be two weeks after that so not the week of the 26th but the week of July 3rd now again this is a holiday weekend which is July 4th so there is going to be you know maybe some weird release times around these areas for both beta 2 and beta 3. so just keep that in mind and as far as the first public beta we usually see that after beta 3 like the following week after beta 3. so if we get beta 2 next week and then beta 3 on the week of July 3rd that means that we should see the first public beta right here on July 10th because that is on a Monday which is when Apple usually releases the public betas now I do also want to talk about iOS 16. I know you guys don't care about iOS 16 a lot of you don't anymore now that iOS 17 is out but we could see a new public release as early as next week which is IOS 16.5.1 so that could come as early as next week and I mentioned in my iOS 16.6 beta 3 video earlier this week you might have missed it because it was a very boring update but I think that if we don't see it next week we're probably not going to see it at all Apple's just going to put everything into iOS 16.6 which will also likely drop in early July so now let's talk about some other Apple news that happened this past week so first off let's talk about iPhones and financing so starting in August apple is saying that they're no longer going to allow customers to purchase Sim free iPhone models using Apple card financing and this is a big big deal because I buy my iPhones Sim free I don't usually do financing but this still could be a big deal for a lot of people so apple is saying that instead they're gonna have to have a carrier connection with Verizon a t or T-Mobile also this week the first internal build of vision OS 1.0 was published on Friday so this is just an internal build it's nothing that we can download yet but uh this is pretty interesting to see this get pushed out there just in time for iOS 17 beta 2. there could be references to the Vision Pro headset in the code I'm not too sure if it's going to come and beta 2 or beta 3 but we could see that very soon and then also iOS 16.6 beta 3 did drop this week and it was so boring that I hardly even remembered to include it in this video because there's really nothing going on in 16.6 as a matter of fact I may not even make another video for 16.6 until it gets pushed out to the public I know it's not something I normally do but that's just kind of where we're at with those 16.6 updates so really about bunch of nothing but anyway let's talk about the final story here which is about Reddit and how they're not backing down on their stance against third party Reddit client Apollo and the ridiculous 20 plus million dollars that they're forcing the developer to pay to stay operational this has been massive news I've covered this for multiple weeks in a row on my Apple Den newsletter link down in the description below but uh this is just getting even worse and I say that because many subreddits are still dark well after the initial 48 hours that they agreed upon and what makes this even worse is that the CEO has said multiple times that they are not backing down this is a business decision you know basically calling everybody childish for participating in this and now moderators are getting threatened into opening their subreddits back up to the public so it is just an absolute mess now of course Reddit does have their IPO coming up so all the CEO is thinking about is money he's not thinking about community at all which is ironic because Reddit is quite literally a big community and they should be listening to that but they are not at all so yeah this is just a very interesting development I will continue covering this the more the you know tidbits and the details in my Apple Dan newsletter but yeah let me know what you think about this in a comment below because I love Apollo and I just feel bad for the developer that this is all happening so that is the latest on iOS 17. if you want to continue getting these updates and you know hearing the latest new iOS 17 features and issues hit that subscribe button down below and also get subscribed to the Apple Dan newsletter and if you enjoyed this video specifically I would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also leave a comment down below what would you enjoy what you know what's going on with you on iOS 17 just talk to me down there I love talking to you guys in those comments but anyways guys thanks again for watching and I'll see you soonwhat's up guys my name is Brandon and I've been using iOS 17 beta 1 on my primary device for the and basically just cancel out whatever you were doing and you have to just sit there and watch it and then just hit OK it kind of just interrupts you I just wish there was some sort of way to disable it in certain applications but I get it it's a good feature for you know helping reduce eye strain and it's a cool feature especially for children to reduce the risk of myopia but uh yeah that's a new feature that I I hope there's some tweaks to because it goes off way too often and there needs to be some white listed apps down here I did also want to touch on the new airpods features the new airpods beta features here in iOS 17 so to get this you do have to have the beta on your airpods themselves and in order to do that you do need to plug up your phone to your computer which has xcode installed and then once you have that you'll be able to get the beta want to enable developer mode you'll be able to get the beta for the airpods and this update actually includes quite a few new features so you can see the big one here is going to be adaptive audio so it says adaptive noise control dynamically adjusts external noise you are exposed to there's also personalized volume which adjusts the volume of media in response to your environments and then there's conversation awareness which switches to transparency mode and reduces media volume when you start speaking to other people so I'm just going to pull one of these out of here so you can see what this looks like I'm kind of emulating it being in my ear with my hand here but if you 3D press or haptic press here on at the airpods you will notice down in the bottom we have some new options there so we have noise control it is now set to noise cancellation but you can set it to Adaptive right there we have this colorful little glyph icon for that and then you also have conversation awareness you could turn that on or off right there as well you have the option for both of those there's nothing new here and the spatial tracking or spatial audio but you can see the new one there for adaptive audio now I've used this for the past week and I have to say it's cool I I do notice the difference but sometimes it can be quite annoying because it reduces my volume when I do not want it to be reduced and I've noticed that my volume just randomly goes down at certain parts of the day I'm not sure if it's hearing you know maybe me singing a song and it's thinking I'm talking to somebody I'm not sure but these features are you can definitely tell they're in beta I love the idea of it but you can definitely tell they are in beta and if I go into my settings here you will see that we also have those settings here for noise control you'll see the new one there is adaptive now I will say the one thing I really like in this airpods beta update is this right here to mute and unmute I've used this a ton of times I did not think this was going to be as useful as it actually is this allows you to just press on the stem to mute or unmute yourself on a call and again I've used that several times but for me person personally right now on my main device I have both of these deselected at all times just because they kind of mess with my audio when I do not want them being messed with now granted I haven't worn these out in public yet you know and actually talked to like a cashier or anything I probably should do that and I will do that before the official version comes out but for now I have to have these disabled until it improves you'll also notice that Shazam for song recognition is now in the dynamic Island so you can see it populates right there it's no longer this notification it is right there in the dynamic Island and when it's listening you can see it has a little effect right here which is pretty neat here's another feature that I keep meaning to include in these videos but I keep forgetting the unlocking watch with iPhone is now a little pop out in the dynamic Island instead of a notification and you can see the glyphs are new it just looks way better than it did before all right so now let's talk about the bugs because again I've had quite a few bugs here in iOS 17 beta 1. now it's not like they were unexpected it's not like you know I'm complaining about these bugs I understand it's a beta hey I knew what I was getting myself into but it's my job to report in these bugs while also reporting them inside of the feedback application so make sure you are reporting your bugs in the feedback app but anyway the the things that have been bothering me a lot for the past week have been related to the dynamic Island so for example Waze for some reason way specifically stays in my Dynamic Island long long after it is completely closed like the little blue location stays in my Dynamic Island for the rest of the day if I use it one time and even into the next day so that happens also with airdrop for some reason it even happened on this device here my 14 pro Max the airdrop will just stay in the dynamic Island long long after the airdrop has completed like hours after and if you try to remove it it goes away but then it comes right back so it seems like there's a lot of issues with you know the location services and airdrop just staying in the dynamic island of course this good old bug is still here if I go into sleep mode of course it Three Springs my device this is just happening every single day and night I've just come to accept it at this point every night when I go to sleep I know my phone is going to restring and then it says my system experience to crash and then it just re-springs again so it's just a mess and it happens every night so I'm used to it but I've tried recreating the focus mode I've tried multiple things and it just seems to be an issue specifically on my 14 pro it doesn't happen on this device like if I go out of it in this device you can see nothing happens it's just my 14 pro for some reason I'm sure it will be resolved in beta 2. if not I may just have to completely do you know a reset all settings and then this issue happened to me again mail just simply did not load I just showed a bunch of white boxes this looks like I you know covered this up and censored it but I didn't this is just what it looks like it's just all white and we have these little arrows but it does not show me any data this only happened to me once this week so that's an improvement now I will say that I removed the third party mail app spark because that was draining my battery so I have to rely on mail now and it's just not working the best however some good news is that that the Tesla app started working again so it was not a Bluetooth issue I had to delete the Tesla app and reinstall it re-sign in and reconnect it to my car for the phone to work as the key again so that's good news it wasn't an issue with Bluetooth thankfully now of course the bug inside of the Music settings is still there if you try to go into the music section inside of your settings after enabling Crossfade that will crash and a lot of people have said oh can't you get into it via Siri or can't you get into it another way no you can't I've tried getting in there through Siri the only way to get into there is to just do a reset all settings and then you will have Crossfade disabled and then the next time you go to enable cross play or Crossfade it's the same thing's gonna happen your settings are going to crash again and then something that's popular amongst you guys and myself is that music just randomly stops playing in apple music it happens like at least once an hour for me yes I listen to music literally like all day and my airpods Max so I noticed these things so yeah I just randomly stops playing at least like once per hour now aside from all the bugs I have to say that the performance on iOS 17 just overall just raw not including UI ux bugs is actually pretty good it's really not bad at all especially compared to previous betas now I do still think the iOS 16 was better I know a lot of people had issues with iOS 16 but for me iOS 17 is just a little bit worse in terms of even performance but I still don't think it's bad it can definitely be worse now where it does get really bad and I don't think it could get any worse is the battery life the battery life is still absolutely abysmal on every device I've tested this on even this 14 pro Max you guys might need to go back and check on what this battery was at the beginning of this video because I feel like it's just running down quicker than usual so let me pull up my battery charts here yeah I mean just just look at this I mean when I'm asleep you can see every time things are using my battery I don't understand I do not have any time any point during the day where my device is not being used at you know either in the background around while Idol or just actively so all of that is mainly just mail again photos weather and Tesla and then right here is just mail you'll notice a trend with this is It's always male male is always one of the culprits for battery drain here and beta one and I've reported that in feedback I really cannot wait for Apple to fix the idle drain for the mail application but yeah battery life again just terrible and here's my last 10 days you can see a ton of screen idle time that is like you know more than triple with my average time it usually is my idle time is usually like two hours and as far as other devices go well right on cue watch OS 10 battery life has also been really bad on in my Apple watch Ultra now it did take me a little bit longer to notice it on the ultra just because battery life is so good on this thing you know it lasts me a couple days uh but yeah battery life has drained significantly faster than it was on watch OS 9. that's to be expected but uh I'm just kind of surprised to see such bad battery life on the Apple watch Ultra the first time I've kind of experienced not getting two full days out of it all right now let's talk about what to expect next from Apple so next up is going to be iOS 17 beta 2 and that should be coming next week so the week of June 19th and now keep in mind June 19th is a holiday so it's Juneteenth so we're not going to see anything on Monday but Apple could release that second beta on Tuesday the 20th or Wednesday the 21st and then the third developer beta will most likely be two weeks after that so not the week of the 26th but the week of July 3rd now again this is a holiday weekend which is July 4th so there is going to be you know maybe some weird release times around these areas for both beta 2 and beta 3. so just keep that in mind and as far as the first public beta we usually see that after beta 3 like the following week after beta 3. so if we get beta 2 next week and then beta 3 on the week of July 3rd that means that we should see the first public beta right here on July 10th because that is on a Monday which is when Apple usually releases the public betas now I do also want to talk about iOS 16. I know you guys don't care about iOS 16 a lot of you don't anymore now that iOS 17 is out but we could see a new public release as early as next week which is IOS 16.5.1 so that could come as early as next week and I mentioned in my iOS 16.6 beta 3 video earlier this week you might have missed it because it was a very boring update but I think that if we don't see it next week we're probably not going to see it at all Apple's just going to put everything into iOS 16.6 which will also likely drop in early July so now let's talk about some other Apple news that happened this past week so first off let's talk about iPhones and financing so starting in August apple is saying that they're no longer going to allow customers to purchase Sim free iPhone models using Apple card financing and this is a big big deal because I buy my iPhones Sim free I don't usually do financing but this still could be a big deal for a lot of people so apple is saying that instead they're gonna have to have a carrier connection with Verizon a t or T-Mobile also this week the first internal build of vision OS 1.0 was published on Friday so this is just an internal build it's nothing that we can download yet but uh this is pretty interesting to see this get pushed out there just in time for iOS 17 beta 2. there could be references to the Vision Pro headset in the code I'm not too sure if it's going to come and beta 2 or beta 3 but we could see that very soon and then also iOS 16.6 beta 3 did drop this week and it was so boring that I hardly even remembered to include it in this video because there's really nothing going on in 16.6 as a matter of fact I may not even make another video for 16.6 until it gets pushed out to the public I know it's not something I normally do but that's just kind of where we're at with those 16.6 updates so really about bunch of nothing but anyway let's talk about the final story here which is about Reddit and how they're not backing down on their stance against third party Reddit client Apollo and the ridiculous 20 plus million dollars that they're forcing the developer to pay to stay operational this has been massive news I've covered this for multiple weeks in a row on my Apple Den newsletter link down in the description below but uh this is just getting even worse and I say that because many subreddits are still dark well after the initial 48 hours that they agreed upon and what makes this even worse is that the CEO has said multiple times that they are not backing down this is a business decision you know basically calling everybody childish for participating in this and now moderators are getting threatened into opening their subreddits back up to the public so it is just an absolute mess now of course Reddit does have their IPO coming up so all the CEO is thinking about is money he's not thinking about community at all which is ironic because Reddit is quite literally a big community and they should be listening to that but they are not at all so yeah this is just a very interesting development I will continue covering this the more the you know tidbits and the details in my Apple Dan newsletter but yeah let me know what you think about this in a comment below because I love Apollo and I just feel bad for the developer that this is all happening so that is the latest on iOS 17. if you want to continue getting these updates and you know hearing the latest new iOS 17 features and issues hit that subscribe button down below and also get subscribed to the Apple Dan newsletter and if you enjoyed this video specifically I would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also leave a comment down below what would you enjoy what you know what's going on with you on iOS 17 just talk to me down there I love talking to you guys in those comments but anyways guys thanks again for watching and I'll see you soon\n"
