My BEAST RTX 3070 Ti Gaming PC Build 2021 - Ryzen 5600X, 500DX, Ray Tracing Gameplay Benchmarks _ AD

**Testing the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti**

We have been putting the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti through its paces, testing it in various games and applications to see how it performs. In this article, we'll be looking at some of our hands-on tests with the card.

One of our first tests was with Cyberpunk 2077, set to ultra settings and ray tracing enabled. While the game looked stunning with the RTX 3070 Ti, we did notice a slight decrease in frame rate compared to other cards. However, this is to be expected given the card's power consumption and heat generation. The card's performance was still respectable, but we wouldn't say it was brilliant.

Another test saw us switching to 1440p resolution with DLSS enabled. As expected, the game looked great at 1440p, but not quite as crisp as 4K. However, this frame rate was much more playable, coming in just under 60 frames per second. This is definitely a viable option for those looking to get into Cyberpunk 2077 without breaking the bank.

For our next test, we turned down the settings and set DLSS to automatic once again with the RTX 3070 Ti. The game still looked pretty good, but at 1440p, the frame rate was much more in line with what you'd expect from a mid-range GPU. This is definitely a serious case for the 30-70 Ti, especially when paired with an Nvidia GPU.

**Ray Tracing and DLSS**

As we're getting close to the one-year anniversary of the RTX 30 series cards, it's time to talk about ray tracing. While the technology has come on leaps and bounds since its introduction last year, there's still some debate about whether or not it's worth the extra cost.

We've been testing ray tracing in various games, including Cyberpunk 2077, and the results have been mixed. In some cases, we've seen a huge difference in performance between the RTX 30 series cards and older GPUs. However, in other games, the impact of ray tracing has been less noticeable.

In our experience with Cyberpunk 2077, ray tracing was still a game-changer, even at lower settings. The card's power consumption and heat generation were not the only factors at play here; there are also CPU limitations to consider.

**Multiplayer Games**

For our next tests, we turned to some multiplayer games, including Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone. In Apex Legends, we set the resolution to 4K and observed a frame rate of around 80 FPS, which is respectable for a game that can be quite demanding on hardware.

However, when we switched to 1440p, the frame rate improved significantly, with a more stable and playable experience. This is definitely a viable option for those looking to play Apex Legends without breaking the bank.

Call of Duty Warzone was another test case, this time set at 4K resolution with DLSS enabled. The game's performance was surprisingly smooth, thanks in part to the power of the RTX 3070 Ti. However, when we turned down the settings and switched to 1440p, something interesting happened.

We observed a decrease in GPU utilization, indicating possible CPU bottlenecking. This suggests that even with an Nvidia GPU like the RTX 3070 Ti, Warzone may still be limited by its CPU performance. For those looking to run this game at maximum settings, a stronger CPU would likely be necessary.

**System Build and Conclusion**

Our test build uses an AMD Ryzen 5900X processor, Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM, and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card. While it's not our first build with this configuration, we've found that it's one of the best options for this particular GPU.

We would recommend using an all-in-one liquid cooler on this system to keep temperatures under control. The card's power consumption is significant enough that a high-quality cooler will be necessary to prevent overheating issues.

In terms of custom cables, we think they're a great option, especially with the founders edition card adapter being quite large and ugly. A custom cable would definitely make the build look better and give it a more cohesive appearance.

Overall, our experience with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti has been positive. It's clear that this is one of the best GPUs available right now, with great performance in both single-player and multiplayer games. However, its power consumption and heat generation mean that it may not be suitable for all users.

We hope you've enjoyed this article and our hands-on tests with the RTX 3070 Ti. If you have any questions or comments about our build or test results, we'd love to hear from you in the comment section below.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enone we have here is the 3070 ti nice ladies and gentlemen we have another one introducing the rtx 3070 ti or is it tai who knows if you're new to pc centric builds then welcome do get subscribed what we're going to do in this video is actually do a full proper pc build we'll show you all of the parts we'll show you what works and maybe a few areas where things could be improved and this one has actually been proudly sponsored by be quiet so we've got a load of really cool components here that not only look incredible but as the name would suggest are really quiet and of course we'll show you those all-important gameplay benchmark numbers so if you are looking to put something like this together yourself you know exactly how it performs and ultimately how you can tweak it to make it essentially the perfect pc for you is a dedicated service for you to build your own personal computer or would it be personal personal computer because pc that's personal computer let's start by talking about the case and this is actually one i've used a few times before this is the 500dx and the reason that we're using this here today is because it's pretty much the jack of all trades case it's got plenty of airflow as you can see from the mesh on the front you've also got room for up to a 240 on top so you can pretty much put anything other than the most ridiculously long components in here really it's really well priced for a be quiet case as well you get a load for your money including three different fans these are actually pure wings so you've got one on the front one at the top and one at the back we've actually gone for a whole white interior here today you can see the case itself is white which is why we're going to be matching this with a bunch of other white components oh and because this is a be quiet case you also get some acoustic foam on the side panel as well regardless of what the more hot-headed internet forum type person will tell you you can actually go for amd or intel this price point very successfully this one is the b550 vision d from gigabyte i've used this plenty of times before and it really does work a treat b550 will take up to a 16 core cpu i think the only thing really to watch out for in this particular motherboard is that with the usbc you get two ports at the back rather than having one header on the motherboard so we will have usbc on the case but you won't be able to use that without some form of adapter so do bear that one in mind it also supports pci generation 4 wi-fi 6 and arguably most importantly actually it does have a bios flashback button on the back so if you're using this with a 5000 series cpu which you probably are it doesn't matter if you're running an older bio so you can get this up and running without needing some older chip to actually flash it to get everything working the cpu that we're using is of course from amd this is the ryzen 5 5600x and immediately some people say it's only six cores while you're using this that all important single core gaming performance pretty much matches the 16 core ryzen 5 950x so this is why this offers such great value for money you'll save yourself a whole bunch of money for this which can actually be used to upgrade your graphics card maybe from the 70 to the 70 ti the only real downside i guess is that you are going to lose out maybe with some future proofing but more importantly if you want to do work on the side anything that's really cpu intensive maybe game streaming then stepping up to the 5800 x or maybe the 5900x is gonna be a good bet but of course those are more expensive it's worth noting that you do get a stock caller in the box with this cpu but then your pc wouldn't be quiet unless it wouldn't make it to this video the stock caller is great for buying you some time but to be honest not really much more than that oh i've done it again forgotten miss screwdrivers which is not very useful for a pc build we will be populating this top slot with a pci generation 4 ssd a good bet is actually to go for the xpg s50 lite because this pretty much sits in the middle really between a gen 3 and a gen 4 drive so you're getting some extra speed but you're not paying for things that you can't really use or at least won't be using for quite a long time i think i've actually used this exact ssd in this board before as well how about that we'll pop the ssd in place and then secure it in i'm also going to take off this other ssd cover because it rattles a little bit if it's not populated and to be honest i think it looks better without i'm a mad lad removing slot covers the ram we're using you guessed it is white this is also from xpg this is the spektrix d50 this is actually some rgb memory but as you probably guessed we're actually going for more of a blackout build here today as you saw my previous build with the i9 11900k you can totally kick this case out with rgb galore if you want to do that but i thought it'd be a little bit more suave shall we say to do something that is a bit more rgb less he says while holding rgb ram i mean personally speaking i really do like rgb but there's just a time and a place and i think you can have too much it's nice to make your field a little bit more personal and give it a color scheme this is a 16 gigabyte kit of memory by the way running at 3 600 megahertz which is pretty much the sweet spot really for priced performance when it comes to memory this is looking pretty naughty if i say so myself check it out very much a full white build i'd actually probably paint this if it was up to me maybe put some primer and then get some white paint on that to make it match we're not going to do that here today but it would be a solid option now wouldn't it for this next bit we're going to go into serious pc centric modes because you do have a couple of choices when it comes to calling which would be an air cooler or of course an all-in-one both really are great options the one that we're going to use here today is the shadow rock 3. this is white and it will of course match our theme but i think if it was up to me i would actually probably install a silent loop too however the reason i'm not doing that now is because this is a 280 and as we learned in our previous video i don't think a 280 in a high-end pc build in this case is a brilliant idea because you can only put a 240 at the top which means this would have to go at the front so i would actually go for a 360 at the front or a 240 at the top today was not your day i love the fact that this runs ridiculously quietly you just can't hear anything even when things start ramping up my only complaint or at least something i would prefer to see is if they'd included a white fan because at the moment it's a sort of black and white theme which will look great i think with most boards but if you really did want to go for a proper all-out white build with as little black as possible then i think this would well it would rub you up the wrong way color palettes with pccentric get subscribed for more next week we're going to talk about grays we get george clooney in one of the best things actually about going for an air cooler especially one of the more recent be quiet ones is that they are actually a lot easier to install than an all-in-one and they do take you a whole lot less time mounting this one is ridiculously easy because you just remove the default am4 hardware that's on there whilst keeping the back plate you then put these little spaces on top of the holes that poke through you then get your am4 mounting hardware from the box and you lay it on top it will then look something like this where you've got these two little arms on top of the socket so it's time to pick up your thermal paste i've actually used quite a lot of this because as i say i've used this cooler a few times now you can either put a little blob in the middle or you can draw yourself a little x pick up your cooler lay it on top so that the logo is facing downwards run your screwdriver through it and then just secure it in place get your fan drop the hooks on the floor put them on properly do it one at a time and then it just rests on top of the cooler unit itself nice and secure you have one little fan cable plug it into the grey port that says cpu fan and that after you've tidied it up a little bit is your completed motherboard combo so you have a white motherboard a mostly white caller this is ready to go in our all white case with that all done we can now bring back our case and hopefully you'll start to start to agree with me that these two things are going to be very well themed because there are black accents on this case it is not completely uh arctic snow white but it's not far off make sure that you do lay down your case flat and if you have an i o shield then it goes in this big hole actually at the back here but most new motherboards actually don't do this so you can just grab the whole thing and because they've done all of the standoffs for you in this case you can just drop it fairly gently into place well i say that i actually can't because the fan is in the way but jokes on someone because i was going to take it out anyway because i was actually going to replace them with these shadow wings 2. these are of course also from be quiet but these are very much all white fans pretty much so i think they're gonna look better with the case the only problem is i don't have enough of them i've got three 140s but if it was up to me i would have three 140s and then three 120s at the front as well and then maybe actually another one to put on this cooler and then it would all perfectly match up fans come out really easy it's just four retaining screws while we're here we will reinstall our motherboard which should actually go in a lot easier now yes grab the box that says accessories and no sadly you don't get any hair extensions or anything in here sorry boys i think i've used this screwdriver so much the tip has actually lost all of its magnetism because it used to hold the screws and now it doesn't the front will pop off with a fair bit of force you then get another dust filter and then full access to the fans at the front and what we're going to do here is actually keep the stock fan but we're going to move it down a little bit so that we've got the black fans at the front because you won't really see them when you're actually looking into the system and then we'll put all of our white fans at the top and at the back because those you're going to be able to see all of the time and i would also highly recommend that you do actually change the fans before you put the motherboard in this is why we do these videos because now as you can see it is actually quite difficult to access all of these screws it's easier now that i've taken the ram out but if i just done this before i put the board in it would have been would have been a breeze but slow down a second hold your horses don't put the fans in at the top of the rear just yet because there is one cpu cable that actually goes in at the top here and it's gonna get quite difficult to plug this in if you don't do it now so we will grab our power supply this is the straight power 11 from be quiet it's going to be very quiet it should be very reliable and it is fully modular so you don't need to use any of the cables that you don't need there are actually two versions of the straight power 11 you've got the gold rated and this one which is platinum so let's connect up our cpu power cable then which is just about doable with my arms but even this would have been easier to do before i'd mounted the board to the case you can probably see now why i was saying about those fans because you just really wouldn't have much clearance at all and it would be uh it would be bad news grab that cable from the cpu and plug that in doing the same of course with all of the other cables including pcie sata and the big atx for the motherboard itself slide that in the cables themselves are always easy enough to connect if you have any doubt you can just look in your motherboard manual but to be honest they're pretty self-explanatory on the other side of the case you will always have these cables that are dangling down and these are actually for the front panel so if you look on the front here we have usbc we've got full size usb a which is usb 3.0 power button reset switch or led controller i believe this one is and then headphone and microphone so of course for all of that to actually work it will need to be plugged into something so here we have usbc and sadly this is the port that we can't use on this motherboard because we have two usbc audio on the back the tiniest cables you've probably ever seen in your life are for the power switch and then the power leds so you've got plus and minus if you're confused it's pretty much always positive on the left negative on the right do check with your motherboard manual but i've never seen it any other way and then you do also have usb 3 which is big and thick you can't miss that you have usb 2.0 which sometimes looks quite similar to this but this one is actually your hd audio and this goes all the way to the bottom left of the motherboard oh and there's actually one more this is for addressable rgb usbc is pretty much in the middle there's only one right way of plugging it in you've got a little notch on the top then you have your slightly more fiddly ones with the power switch and here on this gigabyte board it's actually one big block there are two options for your rgb on this board you either have this port here at the top that says digital led or you have some more down here in the bottom left it doesn't really matter which way you want to go but just because i said i'm going to start from left to right i'm going to plug this in here at the top of course in order to actually get your fans to do anything these will also need to be plugged in i'm going to plug these two just underneath the 24 pin atx with that all out of the way we can now actually get our fans out the box the much more uh white and blingy shadow wings we'll pop this in at the top and then you will start to see that our dream is coming alive and i am genuinely really quite sad that i didn't have more of these fans because i really do love the look of them let me know your initial thoughts down in the comment section below will it look better when it's finished that's a ridiculous question yes yes it will let me know anyway so with all of that installed it leaves us with the most crucial component to any gaming pc the graphics cards and of course the one we have here is the 3070 ti if you're an avid follower of the channel then you'll know that actually one of my favorite things about the founders edition cards is the smell of the box that is some glorious foam i'm not sure if it's given off any fumes let's hope not but they're marvelous but the most obvious difference with this versus say a normal 30 70 is that it does actually use the larger 3080 cooler design which in my testing got around about 81 degrees on the max temperature in a case like this there's gonna be so much airflow so i don't think that's going to be a problem whatsoever but please do remember that because this uses a pull through design you are going to be chucking hot air into the rest of your system so if there's any restrictions maybe you're using an itx case and this bit is blocked off then this is not going to be a very good card and you should get something from a third party but as i say in a case like this it's going to work wonders other than the one big problem with these founders edition cards which is that you have to use give me a sec while i find it this horrible adapter i mean look at it it is just so ugly you can get third-party cables from cable mods you do get a warning in the box about not doing that which is a little bit mean i don't think it would actually void your warranty but they're making it sound as if it would who knows nvidia let me know in the comments below but this alien looking thing is not actually the most attractive bit of kit in the world and does sort of go against the grain of having a very attractive cooling solution let's remove the two slot covers from the back of the case then you can grab your rtx 3070 ti and drop it in place are you ready for the click oh nice i do believe we are actually pretty much finished now it is just the power connections to actually plug in so we'll feed them through from the back and then bob's your uncle that should be our completed system other than the fact we haven't put a front on it yet what do you think pretty uh pretty tasteful i think this is not going to be the rgb machine that very much is by design around the back by the way this is with absolutely no cable management at all you just need to tuck a couple of cables in just tie these down and then that's that moment of truth no noise classic be quiet but will we get a display on the monitor that is the question we will just so you can actually see this case properly don't forget you do have the rgb on the front and there is actually a little bit of a strip here at the top as well you can customize it however you want you do have that button on the front or you can sync it with software but regardless it is always worth going into your bios and actually enabling xmp navigate over to advanced mode go to settings and then io ports and then it should say above 4g decoding make sure that is enabled do the same with resize bar support set that to auto hit save and exit the pc should then start restarting and assuming that you don't have any issues with the memory or maybe the graphics card resizable bar then it then should just start to spring back into life and you are ready to get gaming here we are then our rtx 3070 ti gaming pc is up and running it's definitely quite a clean looking design i don't think there's going to be many people out there that actively don't like this it's definitely more tasteful more suave more sophisticated having said that i do personally think that it would look a little bit better if we did go for that silent loop all in one just because you do have quite a bit of bulk with the cpu cooler but that is just the nature of a tower you either like it or you don't we'll start our gaming tests with some resident evil village and this is actually a amd optimized title how about that this is a raytrace title so you can see the lighting especially in a room like this is actually a lot more realistic than you've pretty much come to expect from most sort of horror games really and it definitely does make it more atmospheric however there is an issue and this is one of the advantages i guess for going for an amd graphics card if you're that way inclined because if we go over to the options menu you can actually see that we're using around about 7.2 gigabytes of vram and if you want to turn all of the textures up to absolute max on this title then you can see you will actually need around about 12 gigabytes of vram so you're looking at something like a 6700 xt or above really if you want to play this at absolute max settings you can take it or leave it personally i don't think it's a big deal because nvidia cards have dlss which i think is probably more useful but if you do want to play on a really big screen at 4k and have all of the textures turned up to max eight gigabytes isn't really gonna be enough changing over to a more nvidia optimized title here we have some cyberpunk 2077 and this is actually quite impressive because this is 4k max settings with dlss and you can see we're getting around about 45 frames a second and bearing in mind i recently tested this on a 6700 xt and we weren't really able to get properly playable frame rates unless we're playing at 1080p and even then it still wasn't brilliant this is pretty remarkable as we turn things down to 1440p once again with dlss still set to automatic it still looks pretty good it's definitely not as crisp but that frame rate is much more in the playable territory of just under 60 frames a second so if you're rocking a free single g-sync monitor then you're probably not going to notice that much of a difference to be honest with you depends how you want to play really if you are getting into a lot of firefights then i'd still rather be playing at like 70 80 fps plus but bear in mind this is ray tracing ultra i think this is a serious case for the 30-70 ti i would absolutely love to know your take on ray tracing on the whole though because it's coming up now we're not that far away from like the one year anniversary from the 30 series cards so have they convinced you to actually at least try to get one have you been successful in getting one and if you have have you been turning ray tracing on or have you just been using dlss and going for the extra frame rate let's press on to some multiplayer titles and here's my pick apex legends and once again we're running at max settings 4k as we drop down into world's edge we can see we're getting around about 80 fps but it is going to vary depending on where you are in the game i don't think there's anything really to worry about switch it up to some 1440p though and this is where you can see some properly decent gains this is a game that does love to be at a lower resolution for sure even though it is quite playable at 4k this is way smoother and if you are willing to buy a 1440p monitor i think this is pretty much going to give you the optimum experience multiplayer title number two and our final game for testing is some call of duty warzone you may have heard of this and this is running at 4k with dlss set to quality and actually dlss in this game is quite literally a game changer because this isn't really the sort of title i would usually want to play at 4k but again we're actually now getting an even higher frame rate really than apex there's not much in it this is definitely a game that wasn't all that optimized when it came out so it's really quite astounding to see the difference when you're playing in 2021 versus last year turn the settings down to 1440p though and you can see something very interesting does start to happen look at that gpu utilization it's now around about 80 percent which is not the magical 95 97 that you'd expect to see which is actually suggesting some sort of limitation with cpu maybe we're starting to get some cpu bottlenecking here it really does go to show you doesn't it just how intensive warzone can be and clearly if you do want to run this at max settings then you are going to need an even better cpu than the 5600x if you did have a 5800 i imagine it would give you a little bit more headroom but i don't think even that would be night and day because it is mainly down to the single core performance as i say do take this with a slight pinch of salt because this is pre-release hardware running a pre-release driver but it is definitely quite fascinating nonetheless let's close this video out by talking about the system as a whole i honestly think this is the best build that i've done in the 500dx i do think it would look better with an all-in-one liquid cooler so that is probably what i would advise doing but this is a cheaper way of getting great performance there's definitely been no issues in terms of cpu thermals or anything like that but i do think that it would make a big difference if you do get a custom cable for that gpu it's not normally something i'd recommend because it is quite you know like a nerdy thing let's be honest but when you have a really big ugly adapter cable that comes with your founders edition cards i think that would be the first thing that i would do personally let me know your thoughts down in the comment section below what you make of the 3070 ti what do you make of the case do you think i have done this justice or would you go for full on rgb and completely transform this into something else if you do want to check out current pricing on anything featured in this rig then as always you can find it linked down below with my amazon affiliate links but if you've enjoyed this video then please smash that like button it honestly helps this video out so much get yourself subscribed for more videos just like this but there's just a time and a place and i think you can have too much it's nice to make your field a little bit more personal and give it a color scheme this is a 16 gigabyte kit of memory by the way running at 3 600 megahertz which is pretty much the sweet spot really for priced performance when it comes to memory this is looking pretty naughty if i say so myself check it out very much a full white build i'd actually probably paint this if it was up to me maybe put some primer and then get some white paint on that to make it match we're not going to do that here today but it would be a solid option now wouldn't it for this next bit we're going to go into serious pc centric modes because you do have a couple of choices when it comes to calling which would be an air cooler or of course an all-in-one both really are great options the one that we're going to use here today is the shadow rock 3. this is white and it will of course match our theme but i think if it was up to me i would actually probably install a silent loop too however the reason i'm not doing that now is because this is a 280 and as we learned in our previous video i don't think a 280 in a high-end pc build in this case is a brilliant idea because you can only put a 240 at the top which means this would have to go at the front so i would actually go for a 360 at the front or a 240 at the top today was not your day i love the fact that this runs ridiculously quietly you just can't hear anything even when things start ramping up my only complaint or at least something i would prefer to see is if they'd included a white fan because at the moment it's a sort of black and white theme which will look great i think with most boards but if you really did want to go for a proper all-out white build with as little black as possible then i think this would well it would rub you up the wrong way color palettes with pccentric get subscribed for more next week we're going to talk about grays we get george clooney in one of the best things actually about going for an air cooler especially one of the more recent be quiet ones is that they are actually a lot easier to install than an all-in-one and they do take you a whole lot less time mounting this one is ridiculously easy because you just remove the default am4 hardware that's on there whilst keeping the back plate you then put these little spaces on top of the holes that poke through you then get your am4 mounting hardware from the box and you lay it on top it will then look something like this where you've got these two little arms on top of the socket so it's time to pick up your thermal paste i've actually used quite a lot of this because as i say i've used this cooler a few times now you can either put a little blob in the middle or you can draw yourself a little x pick up your cooler lay it on top so that the logo is facing downwards run your screwdriver through it and then just secure it in place get your fan drop the hooks on the floor put them on properly do it one at a time and then it just rests on top of the cooler unit itself nice and secure you have one little fan cable plug it into the grey port that says cpu fan and that after you've tidied it up a little bit is your completed motherboard combo so you have a white motherboard a mostly white caller this is ready to go in our all white case with that all done we can now bring back our case and hopefully you'll start to start to agree with me that these two things are going to be very well themed because there are black accents on this case it is not completely uh arctic snow white but it's not far off make sure that you do lay down your case flat and if you have an i o shield then it goes in this big hole actually at the back here but most new motherboards actually don't do this so you can just grab the whole thing and because they've done all of the standoffs for you in this case you can just drop it fairly gently into place well i say that i actually can't because the fan is in the way but jokes on someone because i was going to take it out anyway because i was actually going to replace them with these shadow wings 2. these are of course also from be quiet but these are very much all white fans pretty much so i think they're gonna look better with the case the only problem is i don't have enough of them i've got three 140s but if it was up to me i would have three 140s and then three 120s at the front as well and then maybe actually another one to put on this cooler and then it would all perfectly match up fans come out really easy it's just four retaining screws while we're here we will reinstall our motherboard which should actually go in a lot easier now yes grab the box that says accessories and no sadly you don't get any hair extensions or anything in here sorry boys i think i've used this screwdriver so much the tip has actually lost all of its magnetism because it used to hold the screws and now it doesn't the front will pop off with a fair bit of force you then get another dust filter and then full access to the fans at the front and what we're going to do here is actually keep the stock fan but we're going to move it down a little bit so that we've got the black fans at the front because you won't really see them when you're actually looking into the system and then we'll put all of our white fans at the top and at the back because those you're going to be able to see all of the time and i would also highly recommend that you do actually change the fans before you put the motherboard in this is why we do these videos because now as you can see it is actually quite difficult to access all of these screws it's easier now that i've taken the ram out but if i just done this before i put the board in it would have been would have been a breeze but slow down a second hold your horses don't put the fans in at the top of the rear just yet because there is one cpu cable that actually goes in at the top here and it's gonna get quite difficult to plug this in if you don't do it now so we will grab our power supply this is the straight power 11 from be quiet it's going to be very quiet it should be very reliable and it is fully modular so you don't need to use any of the cables that you don't need there are actually two versions of the straight power 11 you've got the gold rated and this one which is platinum so let's connect up our cpu power cable then which is just about doable with my arms but even this would have been easier to do before i'd mounted the board to the case you can probably see now why i was saying about those fans because you just really wouldn't have much clearance at all and it would be uh it would be bad news grab that cable from the cpu and plug that in doing the same of course with all of the other cables including pcie sata and the big atx for the motherboard itself slide that in the cables themselves are always easy enough to connect if you have any doubt you can just look in your motherboard manual but to be honest they're pretty self-explanatory on the other side of the case you will always have these cables that are dangling down and these are actually for the front panel so if you look on the front here we have usbc we've got full size usb a which is usb 3.0 power button reset switch or led controller i believe this one is and then headphone and microphone so of course for all of that to actually work it will need to be plugged into something so here we have usbc and sadly this is the port that we can't use on this motherboard because we have two usbc audio on the back the tiniest cables you've probably ever seen in your life are for the power switch and then the power leds so you've got plus and minus if you're confused it's pretty much always positive on the left negative on the right do check with your motherboard manual but i've never seen it any other way and then you do also have usb 3 which is big and thick you can't miss that you have usb 2.0 which sometimes looks quite similar to this but this one is actually your hd audio and this goes all the way to the bottom left of the motherboard oh and there's actually one more this is for addressable rgb usbc is pretty much in the middle there's only one right way of plugging it in you've got a little notch on the top then you have your slightly more fiddly ones with the power switch and here on this gigabyte board it's actually one big block there are two options for your rgb on this board you either have this port here at the top that says digital led or you have some more down here in the bottom left it doesn't really matter which way you want to go but just because i said i'm going to start from left to right i'm going to plug this in here at the top of course in order to actually get your fans to do anything these will also need to be plugged in i'm going to plug these two just underneath the 24 pin atx with that all out of the way we can now actually get our fans out the box the much more uh white and blingy shadow wings we'll pop this in at the top and then you will start to see that our dream is coming alive and i am genuinely really quite sad that i didn't have more of these fans because i really do love the look of them let me know your initial thoughts down in the comment section below will it look better when it's finished that's a ridiculous question yes yes it will let me know anyway so with all of that installed it leaves us with the most crucial component to any gaming pc the graphics cards and of course the one we have here is the 3070 ti if you're an avid follower of the channel then you'll know that actually one of my favorite things about the founders edition cards is the smell of the box that is some glorious foam i'm not sure if it's given off any fumes let's hope not but they're marvelous but the most obvious difference with this versus say a normal 30 70 is that it does actually use the larger 3080 cooler design which in my testing got around about 81 degrees on the max temperature in a case like this there's gonna be so much airflow so i don't think that's going to be a problem whatsoever but please do remember that because this uses a pull through design you are going to be chucking hot air into the rest of your system so if there's any restrictions maybe you're using an itx case and this bit is blocked off then this is not going to be a very good card and you should get something from a third party but as i say in a case like this it's going to work wonders other than the one big problem with these founders edition cards which is that you have to use give me a sec while i find it this horrible adapter i mean look at it it is just so ugly you can get third-party cables from cable mods you do get a warning in the box about not doing that which is a little bit mean i don't think it would actually void your warranty but they're making it sound as if it would who knows nvidia let me know in the comments below but this alien looking thing is not actually the most attractive bit of kit in the world and does sort of go against the grain of having a very attractive cooling solution let's remove the two slot covers from the back of the case then you can grab your rtx 3070 ti and drop it in place are you ready for the click oh nice i do believe we are actually pretty much finished now it is just the power connections to actually plug in so we'll feed them through from the back and then bob's your uncle that should be our completed system other than the fact we haven't put a front on it yet what do you think pretty uh pretty tasteful i think this is not going to be the rgb machine that very much is by design around the back by the way this is with absolutely no cable management at all you just need to tuck a couple of cables in just tie these down and then that's that moment of truth no noise classic be quiet but will we get a display on the monitor that is the question we will just so you can actually see this case properly don't forget you do have the rgb on the front and there is actually a little bit of a strip here at the top as well you can customize it however you want you do have that button on the front or you can sync it with software but regardless it is always worth going into your bios and actually enabling xmp navigate over to advanced mode go to settings and then io ports and then it should say above 4g decoding make sure that is enabled do the same with resize bar support set that to auto hit save and exit the pc should then start restarting and assuming that you don't have any issues with the memory or maybe the graphics card resizable bar then it then should just start to spring back into life and you are ready to get gaming here we are then our rtx 3070 ti gaming pc is up and running it's definitely quite a clean looking design i don't think there's going to be many people out there that actively don't like this it's definitely more tasteful more suave more sophisticated having said that i do personally think that it would look a little bit better if we did go for that silent loop all in one just because you do have quite a bit of bulk with the cpu cooler but that is just the nature of a tower you either like it or you don't we'll start our gaming tests with some resident evil village and this is actually a amd optimized title how about that this is a raytrace title so you can see the lighting especially in a room like this is actually a lot more realistic than you've pretty much come to expect from most sort of horror games really and it definitely does make it more atmospheric however there is an issue and this is one of the advantages i guess for going for an amd graphics card if you're that way inclined because if we go over to the options menu you can actually see that we're using around about 7.2 gigabytes of vram and if you want to turn all of the textures up to absolute max on this title then you can see you will actually need around about 12 gigabytes of vram so you're looking at something like a 6700 xt or above really if you want to play this at absolute max settings you can take it or leave it personally i don't think it's a big deal because nvidia cards have dlss which i think is probably more useful but if you do want to play on a really big screen at 4k and have all of the textures turned up to max eight gigabytes isn't really gonna be enough changing over to a more nvidia optimized title here we have some cyberpunk 2077 and this is actually quite impressive because this is 4k max settings with dlss and you can see we're getting around about 45 frames a second and bearing in mind i recently tested this on a 6700 xt and we weren't really able to get properly playable frame rates unless we're playing at 1080p and even then it still wasn't brilliant this is pretty remarkable as we turn things down to 1440p once again with dlss still set to automatic it still looks pretty good it's definitely not as crisp but that frame rate is much more in the playable territory of just under 60 frames a second so if you're rocking a free single g-sync monitor then you're probably not going to notice that much of a difference to be honest with you depends how you want to play really if you are getting into a lot of firefights then i'd still rather be playing at like 70 80 fps plus but bear in mind this is ray tracing ultra i think this is a serious case for the 30-70 ti i would absolutely love to know your take on ray tracing on the whole though because it's coming up now we're not that far away from like the one year anniversary from the 30 series cards so have they convinced you to actually at least try to get one have you been successful in getting one and if you have have you been turning ray tracing on or have you just been using dlss and going for the extra frame rate let's press on to some multiplayer titles and here's my pick apex legends and once again we're running at max settings 4k as we drop down into world's edge we can see we're getting around about 80 fps but it is going to vary depending on where you are in the game i don't think there's anything really to worry about switch it up to some 1440p though and this is where you can see some properly decent gains this is a game that does love to be at a lower resolution for sure even though it is quite playable at 4k this is way smoother and if you are willing to buy a 1440p monitor i think this is pretty much going to give you the optimum experience multiplayer title number two and our final game for testing is some call of duty warzone you may have heard of this and this is running at 4k with dlss set to quality and actually dlss in this game is quite literally a game changer because this isn't really the sort of title i would usually want to play at 4k but again we're actually now getting an even higher frame rate really than apex there's not much in it this is definitely a game that wasn't all that optimized when it came out so it's really quite astounding to see the difference when you're playing in 2021 versus last year turn the settings down to 1440p though and you can see something very interesting does start to happen look at that gpu utilization it's now around about 80 percent which is not the magical 95 97 that you'd expect to see which is actually suggesting some sort of limitation with cpu maybe we're starting to get some cpu bottlenecking here it really does go to show you doesn't it just how intensive warzone can be and clearly if you do want to run this at max settings then you are going to need an even better cpu than the 5600x if you did have a 5800 i imagine it would give you a little bit more headroom but i don't think even that would be night and day because it is mainly down to the single core performance as i say do take this with a slight pinch of salt because this is pre-release hardware running a pre-release driver but it is definitely quite fascinating nonetheless let's close this video out by talking about the system as a whole i honestly think this is the best build that i've done in the 500dx i do think it would look better with an all-in-one liquid cooler so that is probably what i would advise doing but this is a cheaper way of getting great performance there's definitely been no issues in terms of cpu thermals or anything like that but i do think that it would make a big difference if you do get a custom cable for that gpu it's not normally something i'd recommend because it is quite you know like a nerdy thing let's be honest but when you have a really big ugly adapter cable that comes with your founders edition cards i think that would be the first thing that i would do personally let me know your thoughts down in the comment section below what you make of the 3070 ti what do you make of the case do you think i have done this justice or would you go for full on rgb and completely transform this into something else if you do want to check out current pricing on anything featured in this rig then as always you can find it linked down below
