The Joy of Cleaning: A Day in the Life of a Busy Mom
As I began my cleaning journey today, I couldn't help but think about how inexpensive and handy it is to have cleaning tools around the kitchen. My trusty microwave, refrigerator, and oven are all so easy to clean, thanks to their sleek designs and user-friendly surfaces. I'm using a scraper tool to remove caked-on food from the floors around my high chair, as well as from my toddler's stool, which is always getting into messes. But what really gets me excited is that this cleaning process has finally led to the sale of one of my most-asked-about products on Amazon – Carter's high chair! It's a game-changer for parents who want to keep their little ones safe and clean.
Speaking of cleanliness, I've been using a Swiffer with microfiber cloths to mop my kitchen floors. Not only is it cost-effective, but I also have a clever hack for refilling the compartment with my own cleaning solution – it's a game-changer! The secret lies in adding your favorite cleaning concoction to the Swiffer, allowing you to customize your cleaning experience and save money in the process.
As I continued on my cleaning spree, I decided to tackle the family room, also affectionately known as Carter's play area. This space is always a disaster, but I've learned to love it – after all, two-year-olds are notorious for creating chaos! First, I picked up all of his beloved trucks, which number over 100 at this point (I think I lost count!). Next, I cleaned up the miscellaneous toys, stuffed animals, and Mr. Potato Head that seem to multiply before my very eyes.
Dusting was a crucial part of my cleaning plan for this room. I tackled the blinds, curtains, faux tree, and even the mantel area, as well as the TV stand and surrounding furniture. But what really got me excited was rearranging the couch cushions – it's amazing how a quick dusting and vacuum can make a room look new again!
As I moved on to the next room, I couldn't help but think about the value of a budget-friendly couch. My Ikea find is a lifesaver when it comes to wrangling toddlers, as the covers are washable and easy to clean. And let's be real – sometimes that's all you need: a reliable, affordable option for those messy moments!
With my cleaning journey complete, I moved on to the downstairs guest bathroom, which was surprisingly quick and easy to tackle. A simple wipe-down of the countertops, toilet area, and floors, followed by a quick mop with my trusty Swiffer, had this space looking sparkling in no time.
Next up was the hallway area, where foot traffic creates a lot of dirt and dust. I tackled the shoe rack, cleared off the console table, and vacuumed the living room floor – all while keeping an eye on Carter's toys as they continued to multiply!
One of the final rooms on my cleaning agenda was the dining room. Dusting the blinds and clearing off the table were a must, followed by a thorough wipe-down and vacuuming under the furniture. With the floors done, I finished up with a quick mop – voilà! The downstairs area is now spotless.
Finally, it was time to wrap up my cleaning adventure. As I looked around at the tidy rooms, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment. It took me close to six hours, but trust me when I say it was worth it. room that's been stressing me out the most and that's what I recommend you do when you're cleaning tackle the area that's stressing you out because even if you run out of steam at least you've accomplished that so I'm first doing a little trash sweep on my nightstand area and in case you missed it recently I did a room redecoration and I got these nightstands I'm just in love with them one of my favorite pieces in my entire house so I will link them down below but I just think they really enhance the room so I'm wiping down in the unites and area everything on here then I am putting on some fresh sheets and I just need to take a moment for these sheets these are from Amazon and I love them so much I think they were under $30 for this whole set this is my new bedding set which honestly I think I'm gonna switch out for a different color I don't know if I'm loving the green so much anymore next up is folding this giant pile of laundry I don't even think you guys realize how much laundry this is this is two weeks worth of both my laundry and Carter's this in real time took about 20 minutes just to fold this entire pile folding laundry is really one of those things that I wish I had a fast-forward button in real life so while we're sitting here I just want to say that I find watching these videos really motivational and that is my goal today for you guys watching by the end of this video to work up the motivation to clean up one space in your home whether that just be a corner a pile of laundry a drawer just do it you will feel so glad that you did you'll feel accomplished then I had to put all of it away back in my closet that I had some more trash over on this side of the bed because this is where Carter likes to play more trash on my desk area which I did recently move into the bedroom which I am very much enjoying actually and then I put Carter's toys back into his room and tackled Ryan's nightstand over here and then because I'm over here I decided to get a little essential oil blend going I had Alang Alang frankincense and lavender it smell amazing and I'm actually testing out to different diffusers right now for my company to see which one I want to sell so we have this marble pattern one and this other really cool one it has this lighting effect you could see in the dark where it almost looks like fireworks are coming from it so let me know down in the comments which of these diffusers do you like better the marble one or the firework diffuser then over to my desk area I am just moving things out of the way wiping it all down and then putting it back and in case you're wondering what I am cleaning with I will put the recipe for my DIY all-purpose cleaner down in the description box it works for everything then I am dusting and vacuuming the floors in here still love my Dyson v8 vacuum could not live without this thing it is just so convenient to have a cord free vacuum I highly recommend it so here is the bedroom area all clean now now I just was tidying up my closet a little bit it wasn't in too bad of shape but I just wanted to fold some of the clothes that had been overflowing and get this in order now on to the bathroom area I'm first clearing off the countertop putting my curling iron away and then I'm starting at the top of my duster it's always good to work top to bottom dust first so the dust can fall down and you can clean it up then I am cleaning themed years and because I'm here I figured might as well clean my makeup brushes I am overdue so I'm cleaning my makeup brushes with castile soap and this little silicon finger tool that has ridges on it so it helps really get all of the makeup out of it then I roll them up in the towel and put them outside in the Sun it to dry now I am spraying down and cleaning off the countertops again here using my DIY all-purpose cleaning solution it works for everything just makes cleaning so much easier and now I am putting my toiletries back on the countertops just so they're easier for me to access and I now use it as my vanity area and now we are moving on to the toilet area my least favorite part of the house to clean but it has to happen so I'm just spraying this all down cleaning it off dumping out the trash and then moving on to the bathtub area spraying all of that down scrubbing it with my dollar-store brush I did a video recently on my favorite dollar-store cleaning tools and then just rinsing this out with water then on to the shower I am spraying this all down cleaning off everything in here and sidenote this organizer you can see hang from the showerhead is one of my favorite organizers I will link it down below so convenient and it keeps everything nice and dry and clean which is what I like about it then lastly I am just vacuuming and cleaning the floors in the bathroom and we are all done in this room now moving on to Carter's room first I have to tackle his book Carter's favorite book is called love you forever it makes me cry every single time I read it and somehow Carter enjoys that and he makes me read it to him over and over and I cry every single time so that book is being hidden in the other room because I just can't anymore then I'm putting some of his trucks and toys that are in his room away in this bin and taking his clothes which I folded in the other room and putting them in his clothing baskets I do have an entire video of how his room is organized if you are curious I will link it down below and then I'm just vacuuming off this rug and the rest of his room and now his room is all clean I don't show this room too often on my channel I don't know why now we are moving downstairs on my way downstairs I am just vacuuming off the stairs now it's time for the kitchen and I'm starting off here by it sorting out our mail still get so much mail and 95% of it is junk mail so I do this right over our recycling bin so it just makes it that much easier to discard what I need to then I cleared off the kitchen island do you think having a big island is a good thing but it's really just a magnet for clutter and then I am quickly rinsing off the dishes just to get the caked off food off of there and then loading them in the dishwasher and from there I clean out the sink and I do have a separate brush but I get from the dollar store that I use to clean out the sink just so it doesn't cross contaminate with our dishes because the sink is nasty then I am cleaning off the faucet and the handles here and then I'm wiping down at the dish soap and hand soap dispensers before moving on to this side of the kitchen where I'm removing all of the appliances and then taking my scraper tool and scraping off all of the caked on food that is always on the stove top and countertop area then I am putting back the grates and everything back on to this side of the kitchen or a little spice rack and then using that same scraper tool to clean off the kitchen island I talked about this little scraper tool all the time it is so inexpensive and so handy to have around the kitchen then I am wiping down our appliances so we did a microwave refrigerator and oven now on to Carter's highchair this thing gets pretty dirty and because of the way this one is designed it's very very easy to clean which is what I love about it I'm also using that scraper tool to clean off caked on food off of the floor around his highchair and also clean it off his toddler stool and exciting news this is finally for sale on Amazon you guys asked me about this all the time it's probably one of my top questions I get so I will link to it in the description box and then I am just vacuuming up all of the crumbs from the floor in the kitchen there are quite a lot it's always such a mess in here because of Carter and his eating of it and then once I am done vacuuming I mop the kitchen and I use a microfiber cloth on the bottom of the Swiffer it is reusable it is cost effective and I also have a little cleaning hack where you can actually refill the Swiffer compartment with your own cleaning solution it does work I've been doing it for well over a year now so I will put how to do that in the description box in case you're interested you could save a lot of money by making your own cleaning solution then I'm putting some lemon and grapefruit is such an oil in my diffuser just to get the room smelling fresh and clean and this is gonna make my whole house smell so fresh so I love doing this as the final touch for any room then we are moving on to the family room aka Carter's play area it's just a disaster in here always but that is the life with a two-year-old and I embrace it because he's having a good time so first I'm picking up all of his trucks I can't even tell you how many he has over a hundred at this point but still never enough then I'm cleaning up some other miscellaneous toys he has going on stuffed animals mr. Potato Head all of his other favorites and I am dusting all of the blinds and curtains and I'm also dusting off this faux tree cuz this thing gets really dusty I am dusting off the mantel area the TV everything in this vicinity just gets so dusty also the blinds over here and then taking this little attachment on my Dyson and vacuuming off the crumbs from the couch and rearranging the couch area then moving on it to this larger couch and one thing I just want to say it is amazing having a less expensive couch this is an Ikea couch I don't have to worry about it the covers are washable and having a toddler I'm just glad that I don't have to worry about an expensive couch so I'm all about the budget coat life then I am finishing off in this room by vacuuming and mopping I am also going to wipe down his play mat which looks a lot like a rug I get so many questions about this thing it looks really nice it's made with memory foam and it is easy to clean so this is our family room complete now I'm moving on to the downstairs guest bathroom this is a small bathroom pretty quick and easy to clean so I'm just wiping it down the countertops in here spraying over the toilet area and then cleaning that as well and then I'm mopping this room with my Swiffer that room is done now this hallway area there's a lot of foot traffic here so it gets pretty dirty and I do like to clean out the shoe rack area move shoes that don't need to be here and then clean off this console onto the living room which Carter is still using as a play area I am just decluttering picking up his toys and
