**Unboxing the New iPhones: A Detailed Review**
As I recently received both of these phones without any issue whatsoever, I can confidently say that they are two very similar devices that offer a lot of value to consumers. The iPhone 8 Plus and the new iPhone (which I assume is an iPhone X or XS) share many similarities in terms of design, features, and performance.
**Design and Features**
The design of these phones is very standard, with a focus on minimalist aesthetics. The power button is located on the right side, along with the SIM tray on the bottom. There is no headphone jack, but instead, we have a speaker and a microphone. The volume buttons are also present, which I really love for their simplicity and ease of use. The front-facing cameras are identical to those found on previous iPhone models, while the rear camera setup consists of a 12-megapixel lens with an f/1.8 aperture lens and optical image stabilization.
**Back Camera and Additional Features**
One notable difference between the two phones is the presence of a telephoto lens in the new iPhone X or XS, which provides a wider-angle lens and a higher level of optical zoom capability. However, the iPhone 8 Plus lacks this feature, making it a more budget-friendly option for those who don't need these advanced camera capabilities. Both phones support wireless charging, glass packs that provide a comfortable grip, and are water-resistant.
**Mod Case Review**
To take these phones to the next level, I've got a great mod case review to share with you. The Mod Box is a comprehensive kit that offers a range of customization options for your iPhone 8 Plus or X (or XS). Inside the box, you'll find a frame with buttons and a backplate, which can be swapped out with different rim and backplate options. This allows for a high level of personalization and flexibility.
**Rhino Shield Case Review**
One of my favorite features of the Mod Box is the Rhino Shield case, which provides excellent protection against drops and scratches. The case absorbs up to 11 feet or more of impact, making it an ideal choice for those who like to be on-the-go. It's also stain-resistant, has a raised lip to cover all drop angles, and fits snugly in your pocket. One thing I appreciate about Rhino Shield is their commitment to using eco-friendly materials, such as food-grade BPA-free plastics that are 100% recyclable.
**Assembly and Customization**
One of the standout features of the Mod Box is its ease of assembly and customization. Simply pop in the desired rim or backplate, add a few lenses if you like, and you're good to go! The phone fits snugly into the case, with a secure fit that won't compromise on protection.
**Lenses and Additional Accessories**
The Mod Box also includes a range of lenses and accessories that can enhance your iPhone experience. There's a fisheye lens for wide-angle shots, a point-six times wide-angle lens for landscape photography, and a two-in-one macro plus wide-angle Cobo lens for capturing stunning stills and videos.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, both the iPhone 8 Plus and the new iPhone X (or XS) offer great value and performance at their respective price points. However, if you're looking for advanced camera capabilities and a higher level of customization options, the Mod Box is an excellent choice. Whether you opt for the Rhino Shield case or one of the other accessories, there's no doubt that your new iPhone will be protected and stylish.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everybody this is Erica the technology nerd who likes to film stuff and it is obligatory iPhone unboxing day with the iPhone 8 plus and also the iPhone 8 I'm sure you guys have seen tons and tons of unboxings today already but also after i unbox these I actually wanted to show something really cool to you you guys know that I'm a huge fan of bumper cases specifically the Rhino shield ones they just came out with a product that's on pre-order right now it is a modular bumper case so not only do you have this bumper but you also have these back coverings as well so you can convert it into a full-on protective case with the backing on it and you can pop out these buttons so that you can change them how you would like and also there's this little bit of the case that you can pull out and you can change the color of this as well and then to top it all off we've got this ring attachment that allows you to connect modular accessories like these lenses so this is pretty crazy so once I had box these I will try these on and show you what these are like but this brings a whole different interesting range of protection so thank you Rhino shield for sending all of this out to me to look at for an early look and thank you for continuously sponsoring my channel so let's get right into unboxing these devices shall we which one should I start with well you know what I really want to see this color I saw it a little bit in the Apple Store and it was absolutely beautiful so this is the new gold color where I've got the old gold color right here which is quite a bit more yellow in comparison let's go ahead and rip this off this is the 128 gigabyte model excuse me I meant 256 gigabyte model and I had to go with the 256 gigabyte model because I might not like the iPhone 10 so in that case I wanted to make sure I had the iPhone that I would really like to use so let's pull open the box I don't know if I'm ready to get rid of my home button and I really do you like the accessibility feature that we have on the older iPhones pull this up there is zip beautiful iPhone let's go ahead and take it out peel off the covering oh I keep forgetting that just covers the front as well satisfying okay so this back is really quite creamy and appearance I don't know if I would look at this and say gold I might say pink maybe and off-white and some interesting lighting maybe really the only thing that's giving way that it's gold is this band here but still I like that contrast and it's quite beautiful so here we have the old gold model and it's a difference that I'm quite happy with plus you can see we don't have the antenna bands anymore very nice and clean the antenna bands are here now instead integrated into the frame the good thing about going with a lighter model is that it's not going to show fingerprints as badly as the darker model that we have here got some nice heft to it feels good in the hand not slippery and here we have it next to my red my product red iPhone 7 plus and one of my frustrations with the older design has always been that you've got the metal that's exposed here this gets very scratched on this Apple logo over time now it's under the glass and glass is pretty scratch resistant unless you get sand or grit of a similar hardness in your pocket so I think this is going to fare quite well so before we take a look at the rest of what's in the box I've got myself a gram scale I'm just curious just for kicks let's see so we've the iPhone 6s plus that's 189 grams the iPhone 7 plus 187 grams so this is actually just a little bit lighter than before and they say this is heavier and I can feel that it's a bit heavier that glass does contribute 201 grams yes so there you go does this weight difference make a very big difference no not really it's just starting to feel quite heavy you like the Galaxy Note 8 how heavy is this anyway okay so that's actually lighter than this so what else is in this box looks just like the standard Apple fair we've got this small Apple charging brick which is an insult because this phone is capable of fast charging the only thing is you wouldn't know it because they give this to you in the box instead you're going to have to pay for extra accessories for that privilege fantastic thanks a lot Apple that that's great now we've got our earbuds and also there is the adapter on the back because there's no headphone jack as everybody will that was already and then you've got your lightning to USB cable and that is all so now let's move on to unboxing the iPhone 8 in the space is great color I totally just botched the heck out of that that's okay and I only got this in 64 gigabytes this is not going to be a heavy hitting phone for me it's got a smaller screen less resolution smaller battery doesn't have that dual camera setup so you can't do the portrait lighting and you can't do the portrait mode either so this is like the bare-bones iPhone but still extremely expensive but still a lot of people really like the smaller phone plus you do get wireless charging just like you do with the bigger phone I actually have a samsung wireless charger right here we will try out all right grab this out of the box oh that is so much smaller I really like that if only the smaller phone had the specs of the bigger phone come on now Apple I always tell myself I'm going to go for the smaller one but always end up with the bigger model so there you go and yeah it's really just a gray color very nice and simple that feels like one nice sturdy little phone though it's just so cute perfectly fits in my hands sorta so these both have three gigabytes of RAM like I said this is 64 gigabytes of internal storage this is the other configuration to the 256 gigabytes internal storage the same stuff in the so no need to take that out let's go ahead and start up this wireless charger here we go sweet it works and it works immediately so that was very easy I turned this screen on let's go ahead and try that out - Oh a mmediately even before it even touches down indeed you can use the Samsung wireless charger with both of these phones without any issue whatsoever so that's for really really nice means I don't have to go and buy another charger now taking a very quick look around these devices this is just very standard iPhone fare by this point the same design so we have the power button right there you've got your SIM tray on the bottom there's no headphone jack we've got a speaker and a microphone and a lightning port we still have our mute switch which I really love and the volume buttons then we've got our front-facing cameras we've got another speaker here and the ambient light sensor proximity sensor four point six inch display versus five point five I believe we've still got a home button on both of these which I'm very happy to have then on the back we've got our 12 megapixel cameras we've got a f1 point a aperture lens with optical image stabilization we've also got the same lens and camera as well except for now we have the telephoto lens F 2.8 no optical image stabilization unlike the iPhone 10 so that stinks then we've got the wireless charging then we've got those gorgeous glass packs and they're quite grippy and easy to hold on to but still some people are going to want a case and I do like using bumper cases particularly when I go out and about so I want to show you these really cool mod cases I'm really excited about this so let's take a look at the mod box and see what it offers so inside the box to get the frame plus buttons you get a rim and also a backplate so all this will come in one set and then as add-ons you can choose a different rim or a different backplate you can even add on different coloured buttons and you can see you've got two different choices like I was showing you you can have either the buffer case or the case with the back and I've always loved what Rhino shield offers because of the shock spread technology with just this little bumper it can absorb up to 11 feet or more of impact and I've tested this out this is tried-and-true for me so it's a very durable material also it's stain resistant it's got a raised lip to cover all drop angles it fits snugly it's three millimeters thin an important thing they list here is food grade BPA and bps free and a hundred percent recyclable so that's pretty cool so let's not waste any more time let's fit this puppy on just align it like so pop it in and there you go it's on buttons feel nice and clicky which is a good thing so to take it off just pull it from here just start going around the case and then push up from the bottom so this is where I can now choose from one of these back plates that they've provided for me let's go ahead with the clear one just pop it in so now that it's all together I can just pop my phone in and it's going to be nice and clear and protective or I can go ahead and grab the ring and this is going to let it be modular I just pop that in there's a little bit of felt right here so it's not going to scratch your phone and it's really pushing your phone in that's going to keep this secure in place why not so if I feel like going around and having something a little bit more protective there you go if I want something that's a little bit slimmer there you go so let's quickly take a look at some of the lenses this is the fisheye lens you can see we've got two different places for the Rings here you can choose the telephoto lens or the main camera I'm just gonna put it on main camera and there you go there's the fisheye lens here we have a point six times wide-angle lens there's also a super wide angle lens and a two-in-one macro plus wide-angle Cobo so I could see vloggers walking around using this and here we have it on the smaller phone you can see that it really doesn't add all that much bulk feels really nice and sturdy you can add some lenses on which is just awesome you've got a nice open port down here at the bottom and this material will not scratch your phone so let me know what you guys think about these check out the link in the description if you want to preorder them or just simply browse their site you can see all the neat combinations that you can make so this concludes my unboxing let me know which phone that you guys are going to get for me it's just gotta be the 8 plus even though I really love the size of this little guy here so this is an Erica the technology nerd likes to
