The Ultimate Laundry Room Organization Project: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Functional and Pretty Space
As I embarked on this laundry room organization project, I knew that it was essential to start with a clean slate. The first step was to clear out the space completely, which not only gave me an opportunity to declutter but also allowed me to assess what needed to be done. This was also the perfect time to clean the space, ensuring that everything was fresh and ready for the new organization system.
One of the areas I wanted to address was these cabinets on the left side of the room. I thought this would be a great space to house my cleaning supplies and extra storage needs. For my cleaning supplies, I decided to put them in these plastic baskets I found at Target. I have one container for my cleaning products and another for my cleaning rags. The first container is filled with all-purpose cleaners, while the second contains my favorite cleaning rags. These baskets are not only functional but also add a touch of color to the space.
To utilize the upper storage area, I installed a shelf right above the washer and dryer. This visually improved the space and made it easier to access the most frequently used items. For my washing supplies, I found these glass cookie jar containers at Target. One container holds our laundry pod, while the second contains OxiClean – a stain booster that I use to brighten colors in my laundry loads.
In addition to the shelves, I added decorative elements to enhance the space's aesthetic appeal. These items were all in clearance at Target and add a touch of personality to the room. From the pretty bowls to the woven baskets, these decorative pieces not only make the space look nice but also contribute to its functionality.
To optimize the storage space above the washer, I placed lesser-used items such as laundry bags and extra detergent. This area is harder to reach, making it ideal for storing less frequently used items. By keeping these items in this accessible location, I ensure that they are easily retrievable when needed.
One of my favorite functional elements added to the room was a wall-mounted trash can. Located near the dryer, it's conveniently positioned to make disposing of lint after use effortless. This simple addition has made a significant difference in maintaining a clean and organized laundry space.
Another innovative solution I implemented is the laundry lasso – a device that propels open the front-loading washer door without blocking the walkway. After struggling with this issue for some time, I found this clever device on Amazon and was thrilled to discover its effectiveness. It not only solves the problem of the door opening but also adds an element of convenience to my laundry routine.
Lastly, I installed a retractable clothesline above the washer. When needed, it's pulled out, allowing me to hang clothes that can't fit in the dryer. This innovative solution has greatly reduced the need for additional drying space and provides a convenient alternative when such needs arise.
With this comprehensive organization system in place, my laundry room is now fully functional, pretty, and efficient. I'm confident that even Ryan will be able to maintain it, given its user-friendly design. As I near the end of my pregnancy, I'll soon be enjoying this newly organized space with a new addition – a baby on the way!

organized please give this video a thumbs up if you enjoy my organization videos and make sure you're subscribed if you haven't already so with all that said let's go ahead and tackle this mess for any organization project that I do the first step is to clear out the space completely and this is also a great time to clean the space so you're starting out with a clean slate the first area I wanted to address were these cabinets on the left and I thought this would be a great space to house my cleaning supplies and to use for extra storage so for my cleaning supplies I decided to put them in these plastic baskets I found it target I have a cleaning products in one container and then in the other container I put my cleaning rags for the larger overhead storage I got these bigger containers also from Target in one eye but in my extra paper towels and then in the other one I put in extra toilet paper I personally like to label everything because I find that it makes it easier for the other people you live with to follow the organization system you have in place so this is what this little area looks like put together right beneath this area we have a sink so I thought this would make a great stain treating area for this I put all of my stain related products in a little basket and also this laundry stain cheat sheet I found on Pinterest which I will link below so now if anything has a stain that this is the area where I can soak it and treat it next I wanted an area that had our most used items that were easy to grab and easy to access so what I did here is I installed a shelf right above the washer and dryer and this visually just looks a little bit nicer than just putting everything on top of the washer and dryer so for my washing supplies I found these glass cookie jar containers in one I put our laundry pod and the second container I put some OxiClean and this is kind of just a stain booster and you can use this to brighten colors so I'll usually add this into my laundry loads as well and then for the dryer elements I put my wool dryer balls in this glass vase and then I found this pretty bowl from Target to put my essential oils and what you do here is you put your essential oils on the wool balls and then you pop them in the dryer with your clothes and it will help scent your clothing naturally and as the finishing touches for the shelf I also decided to add some decorative items these were all in clearance at Target and I think it just makes the space look so much nicer and it kind of takes it from just a functional room to a both functional and pretty room and since I do spend a lot of time here I like that it looks nice now for the storage space above the washer this is a little harder to reach so I decided to put the lesser used items here like our iron laundry bags and some extra laundry detergent so this is what this storage area looks like lastly I wanted to add some extra functional elements to the space the first is a wall-mounted trash can and I have this located right near the dryer so it's very easy to discard your lint after you're done using it and I have to say this might be my favorite thing in the entire room this is so convenient so since we have a front-loading washer it's recommended at the door state open to prevent mold but it was blocking this walkway so I found this little device on Amazon called the laundry lasso and you basically just stick it onto the washer like so and it will help prop open the door just enough without blocking the walkway I thought this thing was pretty cool and as the last element I put a retractable clothesline for drying clothes that can't go in the dryer I couldn't find an indoor one that was long enough so I had to get this big guy so I hung this in the room and when it's needed you just pull out the string hang it up on the other side like so and then you can hang your clothes let them dry and put the string away once you're done I think we're going to get a lot of use out of this in the future and I just love having it here all right so this is what my laundry room looks like now fully organized I am just in love with how it turned out and I'm very hopeful that even Ryan will be able to maintain the system also in case you didn't know I have nine and a half months pregnant now I am due any day so if you ever don't see a video pop up for me on an upcoming Sunday it probably means that I gave birth so check my social media if you're curious and with all that said thank you guys so much for watching and I will see you soon with a new video hopefully and you can please clean your stuff out of the laundry room yeah I'm doing it right now huh no you're not because I just reorganized the entire laundry room by myself youhey guys and welcome
