Project Cars 2 Review - Do Video Games Make You a Better Driver
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwith project cars to releasing they decided to send me to Sonoma Raceway right outside the Bay Area in San Francisco Sonoma has a ton of elevation change it is an extremely tricky track project cars too gave me the challenge of driving Sonoma in real life and then driving Sonoma again and their new game to compare the two so what was the verdict let's go on a hot lap first what we're gonna do is actually drive together through the course once or twice because I haven't either and driving them clear and 570s is an incredible experience it's very well balanced and it feels a little bit more nimble than some of the other McLaren such as the 650s not that those are bad handling the 570 just feels nice and compact there is a ton of driver assist involved but it's still a car and physics still do apply overtime Sonoma definitely takes a toll on these cars by the end of the day my brakes have faded pretty significantly the g-forces felt by the 570s around corners is pretty astonishing especially down this one transitional hill you basically big toe it down the hill to keep the car in line during our autocross session they really beat into our head that it's all about modulating throttle and that's true with any race track in my opinion I'm still a complete rookie when it comes to track driving when it came to trail braking and things of that nature I'm still not that great at it but I can at least keep up with the pack that's definitely better than I used to be after a fantastic day of driving these cars on the real-life Sonoma I finally got to experience project cars to itself I flew to California to film myself playing a video game while using a chair and again go this insanely expensive VR system that I had to get my hands on this was my first time using anything like the oculus rift and I have to say it's definitely impressive so on the oculus here you can put the back on first and then you'll pull the back yep back to front okay try not to let the skin touch the lenses on the inside and then go ahead and adjust it looking at the screen and make sure everything's in focus right there so just like in the real race car up shift is on your right with this simulation I felt everything and project cars to does a good job simulating the throttle modulation I was doing on the real track I was braking about the same as well the one thing that a videogame doesn't truly have that the real life does is the simulation of actual speed the sense of speed without the sense of speed I crashed a lot but when it came to steering inputs modulation breaking trail braking all that sort of stuff project car suit nails it they get all of that stuff very very right and especially since we were driving the McLaren that we had just driven on the track in VR it really made a lot of sense for us to catch on quickly I also drove on a small simple wheel setup with force feedback that you could pick up for not much money and it actually felt pretty good on that as well the VR is just something that your brain has to get almost associated with and it's really tricky to get used to at first but on a normal TV screen normal ps4 that I was playing on it was absolute no problem for me to get used to it project cars to has various weather systems tons of cars the first one didn't have as many cars as the second one for sure and it really truly feels like a racing simulator first one had some wonky physics sometimes but the second one has definitely improved upon that in many ways if you want to drive the Nurburgring in the rain and snow and at night you can do that you can pretty much do just about anything on track I even tried to drive mad Mike's four-rotor but I simply could not get that car right I kept screwing up over and over again so did project cars live up to the expectation versus the real-life driving I would actually say so it was a ton of fun and without that sense of speed that's the only thing that gets you so with that guy's huge things of project cars and thank you for watching this video don't forget to subscribe and I hope you all have a wonderful daywith project cars to releasing they
