**Preparing for the Big Push: The MR2 Methanol Project**
The harness for those guys done and then it's time to put some meth in there looking professional not bad should be ready though right yeah fill it with some fuel grab the fire extinguishers and let well we got the invisible fire now too me Burns clear so if you hear someone screaming we need to get a fire extinguish stop drop and roll don't run around with your arms fling that's just freaking fan in the flame dude that's just going to make it worse I see so many videos of people forgetting this and running around on bar to be fair though if you if you're fully on fire your I mean yeah thought process probably goes out the window you're like holy I'm on fire all right boys it's time methanol is going in to the MR2 we got three fire extinguishers on standby in case things go wrong but we actually went ahead and unplugged the injectors and the coils because we need to crank it over to build fuel pressure stuff's toxic also so I'm going to try not to breath too much of that in take a dude get a little buzz going real quick but yeah we're going to crank it build some fuel pressure make sure we have no leaks and we got to pull some fuel out of the tune and then we can try to go hot to see what it does that should be plenty for right now actually does kind of smell a lot like y5 little different similar all right boys the MR2 is officially on methanol all right guys methanol is in we're going to go ahead and crank it over build some fuel pressure double check there are no leaks and then we'll plug everything back in pull some fuel out of the map because we're going to have a lot more fuel with the higher base pressure in these bigger injectors so we're going to start a little lower hopefully not hydrolock it by accident and go from there all right ready yep all right about 77 lbs of fuel pressure up a little bit more nothing yeah we're good nice all right we'll crank this up a little more and should be good to go try and start this thing all right so should I go go ahead and plug everything in um or do you want to verify let me do it one more time verify all right guys got it backed up to the door started raining got fire extinguishers ready just in case but we are ready to fire this thing up on methanol all right you ready fire in the hole all right right oh that was right away it's spraying fuel probably condensation not fuel though it might be condensation that might be fuel yeah that's fuel oh yeah that's fuel Thinkin that fuel 140 PSI 140 yeah jeez back that down just a tou mhm we literally had fuel coming out of the exhaust so she was a little Rich a little closer yep still really rich and a lot of fuel pressure so take it down some more it wanted to run better that time though yeah that sounded a lot better it almost tried to idle all right guys we didn't have it running for too long but we are going to call it there because we still have a lot of things to get done for tomorrow tomorrow because this thing needs to be loaded up and on the way to Georgia to fuel Tech to dino it yep if any luck that all goes smooth but like how said just some things to button up on this before we do that and uh with any luck we can put up a decent number tomorrow well technically Thursday but yeah there was a lot of work in this video so nothing too exciting just a lot of you know fabricating and wiring on W it's end to get her done and hopefully in the next video it'll be a little bit more exciting get this thing on the dyno I can't say we're going to set a new dyo record for the MR2 but we definitely want to get this thing making some good healthy horsepower on methanol make sure everything's happy and healthy maybe we'll Crank It Up we'll see how it goes yeah it's a lot safer to blow it up on a Dyno than it is going down the track so definitely get our feet wet with it there and see if we can't make some power and just get a handle on the new setup we're going to close this video off here and in the next one we are going to get this thing loaded up and heading back to fuel Tech because those guys they know a thing or two about M1 so we want to be with them for the first time this thing makes some serious power on the new fuel and yeah cross your fingers boys that cast engine is going to see some freaking horsepower in the next couple days so that's going to do it for this video thank you guys for watching and we'll see you later
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwell guys like I mentioned in the last video it is crunch time here at the shop we have so much work to get done today's video is about the MR2 because we got this thing signed up for World Cup finals once again this year and we have about two months to get this thing ready which sounds like a good amount of time but with everything else we got going on it's really not that much time at all last year was the first year we ran World Cup finals in the MR2 which was really cool to be a part of because when I was kind of growing up and getting into the car scene I was looking at all the videos from cars running World Cup finals all the top dogs are racing their records being set so it was really cool for us to be a part of it last year and we're doing it again this year and we're hoping we can perform a little bit better last year we went out first round uh we had some issues with the car but overall it had the potential to do really well then if you guys remember that following Monday after the event was over we did a kind of hail Mar pass with the MR2 on the private rental day there we go woo 76 at 178 we went a 490 to the e8th at 157 almost mph it was well on its way to doing like a low ow 74 it may be almost 200 mph on that pass which would have been really cool to see but she didn't want to go into fifth gear of course but we haven't ran the car on the Billet block since that event and for anyone wondering I no longer have the K20 Billet block a lot of people have been asking what happened to the Billet motor from the MR2 I got it back to jbr we took the engine apart just to see what was up with it cuz it was making a ton of crank case pressure one of the sleeves was hurt and my intention was to rebuild that engine put it back in the Mr and go testing once again but since then we did make the switch to the K24 because I think it will help us to put a little bit more torque back into the MR2 and the benefit of going back to the K24 block if we don't stay with the 2.4 L and we actually make too much torque we don't have to go down to the K20 we can actually go to a S2000 style crank and kind of meet in the middle and you can do a 2.2 L setup and that setup fits inside the K24 block so either way I just didn't want to keep messing with the k 20 Billet block because I knew ultimately once we get like the drag NSX going and all that stuff we're going to be using a Billet 24 Block in the future I just knew that was coming so we decided to make the switch to 24 now just to try to test it see if it does us any better and I can tell you guys right now we do have another Billet block on the way for the MR2 and it's probably going to go in for World Cup and that one is going to be a K24 but as you guys know we got the two cast k4s ready to go for some testing and uh yeah we just got a lot to go over guys so why it's over there right now you can see him wiring away and that is because we are getting ready to put this sucker on methanol if you follow me over here this is our very first pil we have ever purchased oo of M1 this is some uh potent stuff right here boys so we'll talk more about M1 as we uh go forward because we do have a Dyno appointment next week I forgot to mention that next week we have to go on the dyno and uh we have to completely wire it and get it running on methanol so it's crunch time so we got methanol 5 gallon pale right here M1 I'm no expert on methanol we've done a ton of research but I want to save some of that info for when we go to fuel Tech and talk with those guys because they're going to really give us a good lesson on the differences between methanol and ethanol and I'm sure you guys would like to you know hear about all the ins and outs about the different fuels but the main reason we're switching just to dumb it down is methanol Burns colder and we have the potential to make more power I'll just leave it as simple as that egts were getting really hot on ethanol we were seeing almost 1 1700° which is way too hot our exhaust valves were bending after one or two runs which is just not ideal so we're hoping with the methanol we'll keep things cooler while being able to make the same if not even more power so to switch to methanol we are going to have to change a few components out here that we got laid out on the toolbox this was our previous mechanical fuel pump this is the one that we ran in the valve cover this guy worked great this is a waterman 7g pump methanol takes a lot more volume to run the same power level almost 50% more uh this pump probably could have kept up but we would start to push the limits of it and I just didn't want to risk it plus the service ability with the valve cover was kind of tricky at World Cup so we have decided to go to a belt driven fuel pump off of the crank pulley that's where we got this guy right here so this is from Aeromotive you guys know Aeromotive makes some of the best stuff when it comes to fuel systems and this is a 12 gallon Cog Drive mechanical fuel pump so this will actually bolt to the front of the block we have this bracket right here that bolts to the front of the K series then this guy bolts to the side of that it's all adjustable we have the corresponding Cog drive gear on the pulley already because we have already started to mock some things up but that is our new air motive 12g pump another thing we have to upgrade when going to methanol is our ignition system because methanol is a little bit harder to burn than ethanol plus there's going to be a lot more liquid in the combustion chamber a lot more volume of actual raw liquid Fuel and it's harder to ignite that and get it going so we are leaving the factory K coils these things have taken us really far I mean we went a mid seven making well over 1500 horsepower on a factory K series coil which is very impressive from Honda these things Rip but to go to methanol we are going to be upgrading these and right here we have four IGN 1A fuel Tech smart coils so we got four of those guys one for each cylinder and these will pack much more power to each spark plug giving us a nice strong spark to make sure that methanol ignites every time and the last thing right here that we have are another component of the fuel system so to go along with the upgraded mechanical pump since we need a lot more volume of fuel to run methanol we are also upgrading the injectors in this box right here we have a set of fuel Tech 720 lb hour injectors and these are the big dogs boys these are literally the same injectors that they run in 4 5,000 Plus Power Pro mods running threes in the Eighth Mile we got the same stuff going in our little MR2 right here and these suckers can flow a ton of fuel just one of these can outflow our twin set per Runner by a lot so big old injectors going into the MR2 as well and between the injectors and the new coils those are the main reasons we need to rewire for this stuff because we're also going to be uh just upgrading all of it so we are making a ton of changes and we just figured we'd go ahead and rewire some stuff in the engine baby cuz Wyatt was wanting to clean up some things anyway so he's like I'm just going to make a whole new harness for it and I was like all right you do you bro so he's over there just wiring away making us a whole new uh firewall and back engine harness once we get all this stuff installed get it wired up we'll be able to pour some methanol in the tank and he it fire up for the first time on methanol we're stepping it up over here boys all right guys we're getting ready to put the new mechanical air motive fuel pump on the MR2 here another fact about this sucker is on methanol on on a boosted application this is good up for 2,000 flywheel horsepower and if you're all motor good for 3,000 horsepower on methanol and for like ethanol and gas applications it's like over 5,000 turbo and all Motors like 6,000 it's crazy this thing flows a ton of fuel so we're going to go ahead get her put on you can see right here we already have the Cog drive on the pulley there and then this bracket just bolts to the front of the K24 like so and then this will bolt on like that and it will just be ran on a belt connecting the two together we are going to have to figure out some way to get this system onto the Billet engine if we end up putting the Billet engine in for World Cup because the Billet block does not have the same Factory mounting holes as the K24 does so this bracket setup we currently have only will work on the Factory cast stuff but for right now just to get this thing shook down and test it it'll do the job so let's go ahead and get it on there all right guys the new fuel pump is installed you can see it right down there it looks like it's pretty tight but we do have plenty of room down in the corner there you can see our feed line coming off that guy right there that will go to the rail and we also upgraded the line going to the feed of the pump it is now a dash1 12 so we have a dash 12 going from the tank to the pump and then it goes to a-h 10 out of the pump to the rail on the high press side we talked to some friends and we've heard that some people have ran into some cavitation issues with the pump trying to pull so much fuel that the - 10 and line isn't enough so we just went ahead and up that guy to a - 12 since we're going to be running a lot more volume of fluid through the system here so we got that upgraded pump's good to go and now we can go ahead and get the injectors in got the fuel rail pulled off right here and the MR2 used to have eight injectors we had two per cylinder two per Runner there but now with the fuel Tech injector these dogs flow so much fuel that we only need one injector per cylinder we were going to try to run the smaller size I believe they have like a 320 and a 520 we were possibly thinking about pairing two of the smaller ones up side by side but these fuel Tech injectors have such a wide body that we wouldn't have quite enough room to fit two side by side they would hit each other so we just opted for the big single one per Runner and then we have these kind of dummy injectors right here these plugs to take the space of the ho next to it because we got to plug up that hole somehow the only concern we originally had when putting a big single injector on this thing was how it was going to idle and run down low because really big injectors can be kind of hard to dial in as far as the idle and down low drivability but we have seen plenty of proof that these big injectors can idle a small engine just fine we've seen them on 2jzs and other four-cylinders and they work flawlessly just on the big single set so that was something we were worried about but from what we've seen it shouldn't be an issue and if it is we always have the option to pull these guys out the dummy injectors and we can swap those out for a single set of smaller injectors just to get the MR2 running down low and then we can blend in the big dogs when the Boost comes in but I think we'll be good just with the uh big set of four there so we're going to go ahead and get these guys installed well guys it looks like we have some modifications to make to our old charge pipes to get the MR2 making some boost again I went ahead and got the water to- a intercooler mounted back up in the engine bay here and now that we are back on a K24 setup that K24 block is a 3/4 in taller than the K20 was lifting the head up 3/4 in taller than where it was and obviously everything attached to it is going to move up as well and now that all that stuff has come up a little bit you can see right here on the turbo we have a pretty good Gap going to our old charge pipe right there so I'm going to have to modify this a little bit we're going to go ahead and cut this end off and build it off of this Bend right here and just kind of redo this to get it up to that turbo and then we'll move on to the other side as well because we also are running a new throttle body this was sent to us by ktuned this one runs the Mustang style TPS on the back there instead of the K series one because we had had some we did have some issues with the K series TPS bugging out on us at the track in the past so we went to the Mustang style and and just couple changes there we're going to go ahead and make all of this 3 and 1/2 in whereas the old one opened up to 4 in which really just wasn't necessary we're just going to keep it a little simpler so we got some stuff to redo here and if you guys look right here I have this clamp this is just for fabrication purposes both sides of our intercooler have vibrant HD clamps and they are nice because they do allow for some movement but this clamp holds those flanges nice and true to each other with a nice even space and it will give us the maximum amount of flexibility once the HD clamps are on uh but these V bands right here they go straight to the turbo and then we have another straight VB band that's going to go to the throttle body those guys need to be nice and straight we don't want any weird angles going on there whereas the HD clamps you can get away with some angle as long as the two O-rings are inside of this ring it will seal up nice and tight so we have two HD flexible clamps there because this is hard mounted to the chassis so if the engine vibrates or moves around these do have some wiggle room so we'll go ahead chop it about right there I'll reuse this vband right here build out some new pie cuts and just you know play with it to get this right and then we'll move on to making a whole new charge pipe going from this side of the intercooler into the throttle body there and then we should be good to go and we can make some boost again w a all right guys intercooler pipes are good ready to go you can see right here the Gap we have on those uh flanges right there I wanted to leave that so you guys could kind of see this will slide over and that actually allows for the maximum movement this is what that fabricator clamp looked like on the inside there so we'll go ahead get that last clamp on there the interc pipes are done BL valve welded air temp on the bottom and extended for the taller turbo and while I've been doing that while I got the harness all finished up yep ready to go in the car we got that thing right over here turned out pretty good good definitely a big upgrade from the last setup because that one had definitely seen some abuse but uh that was the harness I had way back when even in Colorado and why it kind of hacked it in half and we adapted it to the fuel Tech stuff so he's been wanting to redo it for a long time make everything fit a little better change some stuff up and we finally got around to doing it yep all done up so you know no more uh spliced together wires with mismatched Loom extensions on them to reach places so yeah this thing's ready to go in there and uh Incorporated all of our new stuff and uh ready to go oh yeah well go ahead get that on there we'll just have to find out where we're going to put the coils which we already decided where they're going so we'll have to show you guys what we're doing for that and then think that's about it right should be about it man fill it up with fuel try and start it we uh put the bigger spring in the regulator so that we can make all of the base pressure fuel pressure yeah we have a bigger spring in the regulator so there's a higher base pressure cuz the new fuel Tech jectors like that higher fuel pressure yep they love all the pressure so that mechanical pump's going to be putting in work um but yeah everything else is pretty much ready we got to put intercooler lines back on the intercooler box the water lines and then we're pretty much ready to go then we got to make sure we open the door when we start this thing up because nah brother let's see last longest without crying methanol it burns the soul it'll make your eyes water you're not ready for it all right guys we got the wiring harness on we're getting pretty close to putting some methanol on this thing and hearing it run but we were trying to find out where we wanted to put the coils before we even started the wiring harness we had this little bracket right here that holds the coils together all four of them and there was really no good place to put this thing we were thinking like maybe somewhere up here like tuck it down there we were actually going to move this back pressure sensor and we were going to try to mount them like in here somehow like that but then the plugs are kind of hard to get to there was just really no good place for this thing and then I have this amazing idea I was like why don't we just put it on the valve cover because our 2J Civic came with a bracket that puts them on the valve cover I went online looked up valve cover coil brackets to make them for 4G 63s and all kinds of other stuff but no one made a K series one so I told whyatt and he was like that should work so he got busy on Fusion 360 and he designed a custom coil bracket that will bolt to a K series valve cover and then we loaded up that file in our L Meer CNC plaz and then we cut her out and this is what we got we got our own custom coil bracket for the MR2 so the coil sit in there just like that and we have a couple spacers and this will bolt right to the top of the valve cover just like this the coils will sit on there and then we can run our spark plug wires off of those guys down into the spark plug tubes that we'll be good to go so I made it nice and convenient so thought that was pretty cool but we'll go ahead and get this guy put on while it's just getting the blow off valve on right now just some final touches we got the injectors plugged in as well got the harness for those guys done and then it's time to put some meth in there looking professional not bad should be ready though right yeah fill it with some fuel grab the fire extinguishers and let well we got the invisible fire now too me Burns clear so if you hear someone screaming we need to get a fire extinguish stop drop and roll don't run around with your arms fling that's just freaking fan in the flame dude that's just going to make it worse I see so many videos of people forgetting this and running around on bar to be fair though if you if you're fully on fire your I mean yeah thought process probably goes out the window you're like holy I'm on fire all right boys it's time methanol is going in to the MR2 we got three fire extinguishers on standby in case things go wrong but we actually went ahead and unplugged the injectors and the coils because we need to crank it over to build fuel pressure stuff's toxic also so I'm going to try not to breath to too much of that in take a dude get a little buzz going real quick but yeah we're going to crank it build some fuel pressure make sure we have no leaks and we got to pull some fuel out of the tune and then we can try to go hot to see what it does that should be plenty for right now actually does kind of smell a lot like y5 little different similar all right boys the MR2 is officially on methanol all right guys methanol is in we're going to go ahead and crank it over build some fuel pressure double check there are no leaks and then we'll plug everything back in pull some fuel out of the map because we're going to have a lot more fuel with the higher base pressure in these bigger injectors so we're going to start a little lower hopefully not hydrolock it by accident and go from there all right ready yep all right about 77 lbs of fuel pressure up a little bit more nothing yeah we're good nice all right we'll crank this up a little more and should be good to go try and start this thing all right so should I go go ahead and plug everything in um or do you want to verify let me do it one more time verify all right guys got it backed up to the door started raining got fire extinguishers ready just in case but we are ready to fire this thing up on methanol all right you ready fire in the hole all right right oh that was right away it's spraying fuel probably condensation not fuel though it might be condensation that might be that might be fuel yeah that's fuel oh yeah that's fuel Thinkin that fuel 140 PSI 140 yeah jeez back that down just a tou mhm we literally had fuel coming out of the exhaust so she was a little Rich a little closer yep still really rich and a lot of fuel pressure so take it down some more it wanted to run better that time though yeah that sounded a lot better it almost tried to idle all right guys we didn't have it running for too long but we are going to call it there because we still have a lot of things to get done for tomorrow tomorrow because this thing needs to be loaded up and on the way to Georgia to fuel Tech to dino it yep if any luck that all goes smooth but like how said just some things to button up on this before we do that and uh with any luck we can put up a decent number tomorrow well technically Thursday but yeah there was a lot of work in this video so nothing too exciting just a lot of you know fabricating and wiring on W it's end to get her done and hopefully in the next video it'll be a little bit more exciting get this thing on the dyno I can't say we're going to set a new dyo record for the MR2 but we definitely want to get this thing making some good healthy horsepower on methanol make sure everything's happy and healthy maybe we'll Crank It Up we'll see how it goes yeah it's a lot safer to blow it up on a Dyno than it is going down the track so definitely get our feet wet with it there and see if we can't make some power and just get a handle on the new setup we're going to close this video off here and in the next one we are going to get this thing loaded up and heading back to fuel Tech because those guys they know a thing or two about M1 so we want to be with them for the first time this thing makes some serious power on the new fuel and yeah cross your fingers boys that cast engine is going to see some freaking horsepower in the next couple days so that's going to do it for this video thank you guys for watching and we'll see you later see youwell guys like I mentioned in the last video it is crunch here we already have the Cog drive on the pulley there and then this bracket just bolts to the front of the K24 like so and then this will bolt on like that and it will just be ran on a belt connecting the two together we are going to have to figure out some way to get this system onto the Billet engine if we end up putting the Billet engine in for World Cup because the Billet block does not have the same Factory mounting holes as the K24 does so this bracket setup we currently have only will work on the Factory cast stuff but for right now just to get this thing shook down and test it it'll do the job so let's go ahead and get it on there all right guys the new fuel pump is installed you can see it right down there it looks like it's pretty tight but we do have plenty of room down in the corner there you can see our feed line coming off that guy right there that will go to the rail and we also upgraded the line going to the feed of the pump it is now a dash1 12 so we have a dash 12 going from the tank to the pump and then it goes to a-h 10 out of the pump to the rail on the high press side we talked to some friends and we've heard that some people have ran into some cavitation issues with the pump trying to pull so much fuel that the - 10 and line isn't enough so we just went ahead and up that guy to a - 12 since we're going to be running a lot more volume of fluid through the system here so we got that upgraded pump's good to go and now we can go ahead and get the injectors in got the fuel rail pulled off right here and the MR2 used to have eight injectors we had two per cylinder two per Runner there but now with the fuel Tech injector these dogs flow so much fuel that we only need one injector per cylinder we were going to try to run the smaller size I believe they have like a 320 and a 520 we were possibly thinking about pairing two of the smaller ones up side by side but these fuel Tech injectors have such a wide body that we wouldn't have quite enough room to fit two side by side they would hit each other so we just opted for the big single one per Runner and then we have these kind of dummy injectors right here these plugs to take the space of the ho next to it because we got to plug up that hole somehow the only concern we originally had when putting a big single injector on this thing was how it was going to idle and run down low because really big injectors can be kind of hard to dial in as far as the idle and down low drivability but we have seen plenty of proof that these big injectors can idle a small engine just fine we've seen them on 2jzs and other four-cylinders and they work flawlessly just on the big single set so that was something we were worried about but from what we've seen it shouldn't be an issue and if it is we always have the option to pull these guys out the dummy injectors and we can swap those out for a single set of smaller injectors just to get the MR2 running down low and then we can blend in the big dogs when the Boost comes in but I think we'll be good just with the uh big set of four there so we're going to go ahead and get these guys installed well guys it looks like we have some modifications to make to our old charge pipes to get the MR2 making some boost again I went ahead and got the water to- a intercooler mounted back up in the engine bay here and now that we are back on a K24 setup that K24 block is a 3/4 in taller than the K20 was lifting the head up 3/4 in taller than where it was and obviously everything attached to it is going to move up as well and now that all that stuff has come up a little bit you can see right here on the turbo we have a pretty good Gap going to our old charge pipe right there so I'm going to have to modify this a little bit we're going to go ahead and cut this end off and build it off of this Bend right here and just kind of redo this to get it up to that turbo and then we'll move on to the other side as well because we also are running a new throttle body this was sent to us by ktuned this one runs the Mustang style TPS on the back there instead of the K series one because we had had some we did have some issues with the K series TPS bugging out on us at the track in the past so we went to the Mustang style and and just couple changes there we're going to go ahead and make all of this 3 and 1/2 in whereas the old one opened up to 4 in which really just wasn't necessary we're just going to keep it a little simpler so we got some stuff to redo here and if you guys look right here I have this clamp this is just for fabrication purposes both sides of our intercooler have vibrant HD clamps and they are nice because they do allow for some movement but this clamp holds those flanges nice and true to each other with a nice even space and it will give us the maximum amount of flexibility once the HD clamps are on uh but these V bands right here they go straight to the turbo and then we have another straight VB band that's going to go to the throttle body those guys need to be nice and straight we don't want any weird angles going on there whereas the HD clamps you can get away with some angle as long as the two O-rings are inside of this ring it will seal up nice and tight so we have two HD flexible clamps there because this is hard mounted to the chassis so if the engine vibrates or moves around these do have some wiggle room so we'll go ahead chop it about right there I'll reuse this vband right here build out some new pie cuts and just you know play with it to get this right and then we'll move on to making a whole new charge pipe going from this side of the intercooler into the throttle body there and then we should be good to go and we can make some boost again w a all right guys intercooler pipes are good ready to go you can see right here the Gap we have on those uh flanges right there I wanted to leave that so you guys could kind of see this will slide over and that actually allows for the maximum movement this is what that fabricator clamp looked like on the inside there so we'll go ahead get that last clamp on there the interc pipes are done BL valve welded air temp on the bottom and extended for the taller turbo and while I've been doing that while I got the harness all finished up yep ready to go in the car we got that thing right over here turned out pretty good good definitely a big upgrade from the last setup because that one had definitely seen some abuse but uh that was the harness I had way back when even in Colorado and why it kind of hacked it in half and we adapted it to the fuel Tech stuff so he's been wanting to redo it for a long time make everything fit a little better change some stuff up and we finally got around to doing it yep all done up so you know no more uh spliced together wires with mismatched Loom extensions on them to reach places so yeah this thing's ready to go in there and uh Incorporated all of our new stuff and uh ready to go oh yeah well go ahead get that on there we'll just have to find out where we're going to put the coils which we already decided where they're going so we'll have to show you guys what we're doing for that and then think that's about it right should be about it man fill it up with fuel try and start it we uh put the bigger spring in the regulator so that we can make all of the base pressure fuel pressure yeah we have a bigger spring in the regulator so there's a higher base pressure cuz the new fuel Tech jectors like that higher fuel pressure yep they love all the pressure so that mechanical pump's going to be putting in work um but yeah everything else is pretty much ready we got to put intercooler lines back on the intercooler box the water lines and then we're pretty much ready to go then we got to make sure we open the door when we start this thing up because nah brother let's see last longest without crying methanol it burns the soul it'll make your eyes water you're not ready for it all right guys we got the wiring harness on we're getting pretty close to putting some methanol on this thing and hearing it run but we were trying to find out where we wanted to put the coils before we even started the wiring harness we had this little bracket right here that holds the coils together all four of them and there was really no good place to put this thing we were thinking like maybe somewhere up here like tuck it down there we were actually going to move this back pressure sensor and we were going to try to mount them like in here somehow like that but then the plugs are kind of hard to get to there was just really no good place for this thing and then I have this amazing idea I was like why don't we just put it on the valve cover because our 2J Civic came with a bracket that puts them on the valve cover I went online looked up valve cover coil brackets to make them for 4G 63s and all kinds of other stuff but no one made a K series one so I told whyatt and he was like that should work so he got busy on Fusion 360 and he designed a custom coil bracket that will bolt to a K series valve cover and then we loaded up that file in our L Meer CNC plaz and then we cut her out and this is what we got we got our own custom coil bracket for the MR2 so the coil sit in there just like that and we have a couple spacers and this will bolt right to the top of the valve cover just like this the coils will sit on there and then we can run our spark plug wires off of those guys down into the spark plug tubes that we'll be good to go so I made it nice and convenient so thought that was pretty cool but we'll go ahead and get this guy put on while it's just getting the blow off valve on right now just some final touches we got the injectors plugged in as well got the harness for those guys done and then it's time to put some meth in there looking professional not bad should be ready though right yeah fill it with some fuel grab the fire extinguishers and let well we got the invisible fire now too me Burns clear so if you hear someone screaming we need to get a fire extinguish stop drop and roll don't run around with your arms fling that's just freaking fan in the flame dude that's just going to make it worse I see so many videos of people forgetting this and running around on bar to be fair though if you if you're fully on fire your I mean yeah thought process probably goes out the window you're like holy I'm on fire all right boys it's time methanol is going in to the MR2 we got three fire extinguishers on standby in case things go wrong but we actually went ahead and unplugged the injectors and the coils because we need to crank it over to build fuel pressure stuff's toxic also so I'm going to try not to breath to too much of that in take a dude get a little buzz going real quick but yeah we're going to crank it build some fuel pressure make sure we have no leaks and we got to pull some fuel out of the tune and then we can try to go hot to see what it does that should be plenty for right now actually does kind of smell a lot like y5 little different similar all right boys the MR2 is officially on methanol all right guys methanol is in we're going to go ahead and crank it over build some fuel pressure double check there are no leaks and then we'll plug everything back in pull some fuel out of the map because we're going to have a lot more fuel with the higher base pressure in these bigger injectors so we're going to start a little lower hopefully not hydrolock it by accident and go from there all right ready yep all right about 77 lbs of fuel pressure up a little bit more nothing yeah we're good nice all right we'll crank this up a little more and should be good to go try and start this thing all right so should I go go ahead and plug everything in um or do you want to verify let me do it one more time verify all right guys got it backed up to the door started raining got fire extinguishers ready just in case but we are ready to fire this thing up on methanol all right you ready fire in the hole all right right oh that was right away it's spraying fuel probably condensation not fuel though it might be condensation that might be that might be fuel yeah that's fuel oh yeah that's fuel Thinkin that fuel 140 PSI 140 yeah jeez back that down just a tou mhm we literally had fuel coming out of the exhaust so she was a little Rich a little closer yep still really rich and a lot of fuel pressure so take it down some more it wanted to run better that time though yeah that sounded a lot better it almost tried to idle all right guys we didn't have it running for too long but we are going to call it there because we still have a lot of things to get done for tomorrow tomorrow because this thing needs to be loaded up and on the way to Georgia to fuel Tech to dino it yep if any luck that all goes smooth but like how said just some things to button up on this before we do that and uh with any luck we can put up a decent number tomorrow well technically Thursday but yeah there was a lot of work in this video so nothing too exciting just a lot of you know fabricating and wiring on W it's end to get her done and hopefully in the next video it'll be a little bit more exciting get this thing on the dyno I can't say we're going to set a new dyo record for the MR2 but we definitely want to get this thing making some good healthy horsepower on methanol make sure everything's happy and healthy maybe we'll Crank It Up we'll see how it goes yeah it's a lot safer to blow it up on a Dyno than it is going down the track so definitely get our feet wet with it there and see if we can't make some power and just get a handle on the new setup we're going to close this video off here and in the next one we are going to get this thing loaded up and heading back to fuel Tech because those guys they know a thing or two about M1 so we want to be with them for the first time this thing makes some serious power on the new fuel and yeah cross your fingers boys that cast engine is going to see some freaking horsepower in the next couple days so that's going to do it for this video thank you guys for watching and we'll see you later see you\n"
