I recently had a video lighting setup that caught on fire while filming, which was quite an unfortunate experience. However, I was fortunate to be shooting in a cloudy day, which meant I could continue using natural light instead of relying on my video lighting.
One thing that I find promising about the potential overclocking ability of this graphics card is its low base temperatures. With a base core speed of 945 megahertz and a base memory clock of 800 megahertz, it's only getting around 58 degrees C on the core while running a game - even with a passive heatsink. This means that we could potentially strap a fan or similar to it to get even better results.
I decided to start by adding 100 megahertz to both the core and memory clock to see how that would affect performance. To my surprise, it actually performed quite well, so I stepped up the overclock another 100 megahertz on both the core and memory. This made a big difference and was actually the maximum overclock I could get from the memory.
However, I wanted to push the limits further, so I decided to push ahead with the core clock on the CPU instead. The maximum overclock that I could get without any modifications to the GPU was plus 400 on the core and plus 300 on the memory. This is the actual performance we got out of it, which is a fairly substantial step up from the stock clock.
One of the biggest differences that this overclocking made was actually reducing the input lag from this graphics card setup. I've found that this GPU does have a lot of input lag while gaming on a monitor, and it's something that was quite impressive about this graphics card overclocking.
Another surprising thing is how little extra temperature we gained with such a significant overclock. We went from 58 degrees C under load to 64 degrees C under load - which is still not too substantial. But I wanted to take it even further and see if we could get a bigger overclock out of this GT 710.
So, what I did was strap a fan from one of the HP server coolers to the actual GPU. This is what it looks like, and I have to say, it's quite a hilarious-looking setup. With this fairly basic modification, we got a 24-degree C drop in temperature under load while overclocked - which is pretty crazy, if you ask me.
However, even with such a massive drop in temperatures, the benefits were limited when it came to getting more overclocking headroom. We were able to get the core clock up to 430 megahertz, but that was as far as we could go.
In the end, I have to say that I'm underwhelmed by the performance of this graphics card even with a pretty impressive overclock. It's still a piece of crap, it still performs terribly, and it doesn't even match Intel integrated graphics. But if you do happen to have one of these GPUs, you can definitely overclock it quite extensively.
I know that some people may be expecting a huge jump in performance from this GPU, but the truth is, it's not going to get there. The percentage gained in performance is actually very impressive, though - so why not try it out and see what kind of results you can get?

Intel integrated graphics which is shocking I get that it does have its use case like if you have an old PC where the graphics card breaks and you need a working video out for very little money it does make sense but if you do anything even remotely graphically intensive it's it's a pretty bad value for money purchase or is it because maybe it really starts to shine when you overclock it no the thing is the main problem I have with that statement it means that it has to be one of the best overclocking graphics cards of all time for it to take a significant lead over the lowly Intel integrated graphics so with that let's see how I actually did these overclocking tests on this graphics card now I used MSI Afterburner to gradually increase the core clock and the memory clock on the GPU and then I used counter-strike goes kind of built-in benchmark I use that because it's a very repeatable benchmark and it means that I can kind of plot the the performance scaling from the actual overclock now I use the same system that I use to test the graphics card initially so it's got an i7 9700 K in it and it's got like 16 gigs of ram and so on and so forth ok so my video light just caught on fire like it literally just spontaneously combusted while filming so I'm gonna have to continue using natural light luckily it's a cloudy day so the light's quite pretty one thing that I find quite promising about the potential overclocking ability of this graphics card is the really low base temperatures that you get with it so with the base core speed of 945 megahertz and the base 430 megahertz and now is all she wrote so at the end of this very small bit of experimentation this was the maximum performance job we could get and even with a pretty impressive overclocking showing on this graphics card of almost 50% on the core were still not close to the Intel integrated graphics performance which is in my opinion quite a big disappointment but but I mean honestly what was I expecting like for this to even match the Intel integrated graphics it would have needed a very substantial jump in overclocking performance so with that it brings me to the end of the overclocking video on the GT 710 now I know that there was a big jump in performance honestly compared to something like a GTX 1080 which I have a lot of experience overclocking the percentage gained in
