Nexus 9 Unboxing

### Article: Unboxing the Google Nexus 9 Tablet - A Collaborative Marvel by Google and HTC

#### Introduction

In this unboxing video, John Rer from TechnoBuffalo gives us an in-depth look at the latest tablet collaboration between Google and HTC—the Google Nexus 9. Known for its high-quality build, this device promises to bring together the strengths of both companies. With a focus on hardware, software, and user experience, let’s dive into what makes the Nexus 9 special.

---

#### The Packaging

The video begins with John unboxing the tablet. He notes that while the packaging may not be as flashy as the Nexus 6, it is functional and eco-friendly—a hallmark of HTC devices. Inside, you’ll find the tablet itself, a micro USB cable, an HTC wall adapter, and very little else compared to retail packaging. However, John emphasizes that this is production-grade packaging, designed for functionality rather than aesthetics.

#### Hardware Features

The Nexus 9 boasts impressive hardware specs:

- **Screen:** An 8.9-inch display with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels, offering a PPI (pixels per inch) of 288. This ensures crisp and vibrant visuals.

- **Processor:** Powered by the Nvidia Tegra K1, a 2.3 GHz 64-bit processor. This is a beastly chip capable of handling demanding tasks with ease.

- **Storage Options:** Available in both 16GB and 32GB configurations. Unfortunately, there’s no support for external storage expansion via microSD cards.

- **Cameras:** A front-facing 1.6 megapixel shooter and an 8-megapixel rear camera, suitable for basic photography needs.

- **Connectivity:** Supports the latest Wi-Fi standards (802.11 abgn/ac) across both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, ensuring fast and reliable connectivity.

- **Battery Life:** A 6,700 mAh battery promises long-lasting performance, making it ideal for on-the-go use.

- **Design:** The tablet is thin (7.9 mm) and light (14.99 oz or 425g), with a sleek design available in black, gold, or white. The hardware is minimalist, with the only branding being the Nexus logo on the back.

#### Software Experience

The Nexus 9 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google’s latest operating system at the time of release. John highlights the Material Design language introduced in this version, which features flatter icons and a more modern aesthetic. The OS is smooth and responsive, with animations that provide a polished feel.

One standout feature is the “Flappy Birds” Easter egg hidden deep within the settings. When you hold your finger on the screen, nothing happens initially. However, if you tap and then hold, an animated version of the classic game appears, where an Android character jumps around in response to your touch. John humorously notes how challenging it is to control.

#### Sound and User Experience

John praises the tablet’s front-facing speakers, a feature borrowed from HTC’s BoomSound technology. The audio quality is described as excellent, making it ideal for media consumption. Whether listening to music or watching videos, the sound delivers a rich and immersive experience.

The hardware-software synergy is another highlight. John mentions that while HTC is responsible for the build quality, Google’s involvement ensures that the device feels like a true Nexus product, blending simplicity with power.

---

#### Closing Thoughts

John concludes by calling the Nexus 9 one of the best tablets available at the time. He praises its stunning display, powerful processor, and sleek design. While there are some minor drawbacks (like the lack of external storage support), these don’t overshadow the device’s strengths.

The video wraps up with a call to action for viewers to subscribe to TechnoBuffalo’s channel for more tech content. John also invites comments on what aspects of the tablet they’d like to explore further in future videos.
