The host of the Petrolhead show is talking about his recent experience with washing a car using the two-bucket method. He mentioned that he recently learned how to wash a car properly and wanted to know if any of his viewers use this method with a microfiber mitt, or if they still use a single bucket and sponge like he used to. The host believes that there are probably some people out there who still use this old-fashioned method.
The host then moved on to talking about the recent Formula 1 race at Silverstone. He explained that he missed the race due to an 11-hour time difference between New Zealand and the UK, but was able to catch up with online streams and commentary. The host thought that the rain affected the outcome of the race, and was disappointed when Vettel crashed on his way to winning his home Grand Prix. The host also thought that team orders seemed to be a factor in the result, and mentioned that many people were critical of Hamilton's tactics during the pit stop.
The host then shifted the focus to Lewis Hamilton's recent contract signing with Mercedes. He revealed that Hamilton was earning an astonishing £40 million per year, which is almost equivalent to £1 million per week when including all his other endorsements. The host thought that this made him one of the highest-paid athletes in the world.
Next, the host talked about a new car concept called the Aston Martin Vision, which is a near-future study for an autonomous hybrid electric vehicle that can fly through the air. The host thought that this was very cool and liked it a lot. They also mentioned that the Tour de France was taking place at the moment, with Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome leading the way. The host thought that these two riders were putting on some amazing performances, including back-to-back mountain stage finishes.
Finally, the host announced that this Friday's video would be very special. He revealed that he got to drive a beautiful Alfa Romeo 1900 SS up the Goodwood Hill Climb and that it would be shown in his upcoming video. The host also mentioned that he interviewed Martin Brundle and Mason Montgomery about racing tips, making for a "mega" video.
In addition to the video announcement, the host revealed that they have been working non-stop due to a lack of internet connection in New Zealand. They had only four days to explore the country before returning to work, so they are planning a road trip to Mount Doom and will be filming their adventures and sharing them with viewers on future videos.
The host ended the section by wishing his audience well and inviting them to give him a thumbs up if they enjoyed the video. He also asked for comments and subscriptions to Petrolhead, promising more content in the coming weeks and months.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys and welcome to petrol ped and welcome to this week's midweek 180 brought to you from Hamilton in New Zealand yes I am in New Zealand with work it's a very very long way to get here 36 hours door-to-door was my journey but I couldn't miss out bringing you the midweek update so if you've not seen one of these before this is my midweek update where I bring you my news views and information about upcoming reviews all filmed in warm take I'm going to put 180 seconds in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen and that's it a very simple format so without further ado let's get cracking with this week's midweek 180 with a pretty special backdrop anyway I shall start my timer so first comment last week was the speed machine 35 back to his usual tricks and so whoever puts the first comment this week I will give you a shout-out next week where are you and what you're doing well that was blue meanie who was building a scarecrow for a scarecrow competition in his village which is one of those kind of weird things we do in England in some some villages but very cool but where are you right now and what are you doing and I will give you a shout-out next week now last week's question was I wanted to know what your best or favourite car from festival of speed was and there was an awful lot of love for all the various singer Porsches that were on display I've never seen so many in one place in my life and also the new Brabham supercar which was going up the hill which is most excellent this week's question is spurred on from my film of last Friday which you haven't seen before I basically learned how to wash a car properly using the two bucket method and that is my questions I want to know how many of you out there use the two bucket method with a microfiber mitt and how many of you will admit to using a single bucket and they sponge like I used to because I bet there's a few of you out there anyway f1 last week was a cracking race but because I'm in New Zealand I basically missed it because there's an 11 hour time difference between here in the UK so I'm fortunate I missed the race I kind of had to catch up with with you know watching whatever I could online but it like an absolutely brilliant race thrown into disarray clearly by some rain Vettel crashing on his way to winning his home Grand Prix shame team orders seem to be a bit of a spoiling fact a lot of people not to impress with that and Hamilton's Drive from from where he started was quite simply phenomenal obviously there was the whole pit stop or near pit stop incident it'd be quite interesting to see what your thoughts are as to whether you think he should have had a penalty for that but the big thing obviously this week is Hamilton signing his new contract so he's had me on 40 million pounds a year and now if you throw in all the other endorsements he's got he's gonna be very close to earning a million pounds a week which is just believable other things new car news well actually it's not really a car it's personal transportation this thing broke cover this week the Aston Martin vision concept it is a near future study that's an autonomous hybrid electric vehicle that basically will fly through the air is very very cool I like that a lot and then the other thing I have to mention this week because there's obviously some cyclists among my many subscribers is the Tour de France is happening at the moment again very difficult to catch up on when you're such a massive time difference but Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome leading the way a brilliant race so far some amazing performances back to back mountain stage finishes for Garrett Thomas so that's absolutely hugely impressive and then this Friday's video at
