Panama Papers data leak shines light on elite's money moves

A Data Leak that Dwarfs Edward Snowden: The Panama Papers Story

As of April 4th, the world is abuzz with a data leak that has left rich people and politicians worldwide looking over their shoulders. According to German publications like Deutsche Zeitung, this story is being covered extensively on a very splashy webpage. The source behind this revelation was an anonymous individual who reached out to them over a year ago, eager to unload a trove of stolen data from Lo Saque Fonseca – a Panamanian law firm that allegedly specializes in setting up tax shelters and shell companies for the rich and powerful.

Thus far, journalists have been parsing through the 2.6 terabytes of data, which has pinned at least 70 highly placed politicians to this company. With many more expected to come to light, the fallout from this leak has been immediate. Calls for the prime minister of Iceland to resign are growing louder due to a secret account found in his name, and it appears that a quarter of his cabinet had accounts with Panama. This is not an isolated incident, as prominent Russian cellist and close friend of Vladimir Putin, Lionel Messi – the soccer star – have also been linked to these shady dealings through MoSac Français Cos.

MoSac Français Cos has stated that they've done nothing wrong and that all their business dealings are on the up and up. However, as more information comes to light, it is becoming increasingly clear that something fishy is going on here. The ever-expanding roundup of the Panama Papers story continues, with many questions still unanswered – most notably, who leaked this data? Stay tuned for further updates.

In related news, Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk have had a pretty good weekend. As of this morning, pre-orders for the more affordable Model 3 electric car, which won't turn a tire on pavement for over a year from now, have almost hit 300,000 units – far beyond what Tesla and Musk were anticipating. The average pre-order price was around $42,000 per unit with buyers placing in $1,000 to save a place in line. That's an impressive amount of cash being poured into electric cars – $3 billion in just one weekend.

It's also worth noting that while gas prices remain low, this trend could have significant implications for the oil industry if it continues. The demand for electric vehicles is on the rise, and with companies like Tesla and others making strides towards mass production, it's becoming increasingly clear that our reliance on fossil fuels may be coming to an end.

In other tech news, Digital Trends has been reviewing a lot of TVs lately, and their findings have been impressive. Their favorite TVs so far? LG's OLED offerings – yes, they're expensive, but nothing else comes close. DTS AV editor Caleb Denison recently paid a visit to see what's next for OLEDs at LG and was blown away by the improvements made in their new 65-inch G6 Signature 4K OLED set.

Not only are these TVs brighter than previous models, but they also come with versatile 60-watt stand/soundbar designs that swivel up if you want to mount them on a wall. They don't use backlights like LEDs or LCDs do, which is part of what makes their picture quality so exceptional. And, as expected, the picture quality is among the best you can get.

Considering early and smaller plasma flat screens are available for $20 grand, it's almost a bargain when compared to these new OLED TVs from LG.
